Hello guys,
I was hoping to know if you also have this effect on your oneplus 5's.
The best way to describe is when you are on dark screens like twitter's night mode and you have some images with dark margins.
When you scroll up or down, does it appear a trail that disappears after some miliseconds? Like the screen refreshing itself making that trail disappear.
If you wanna try do this: twitter, night mode, follow for instance Nvidia (his logo is black and dark). Then go to home screen of twitter and try to find a nvidia's twitt. When you find it, look to his logo and go up and down. Do you notice something on the image itself? Like a trail of black pixels or blur effect that disappear after a while?
Hope that you can understand me.
Edit: don't know if I can post links here, if not please tell me that I remove it. This link is from Reddit where it appears an image where you can try this effect:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS6/comments/34t923/is_your_screen_defective_test_for_yourself_by/
Edit 2: it appears that the effect is more visible on low screen brightness
Best regards.

Yes, I have noticed it as well though I also had it on my OP3. I think it is more of a thing with OLED screens and low brightness.

Yes, I agree. As this happened on my note 4 as well as my axon 7, oneplus 3 and oneplus 5
Yep, I've experienced that once. Dark purple logo on black screen
It happens on Amoled screens when the backlight is low. I have seen the same thing on all my Samsung phones as well.
I also confirm, low brithness OLED screen (samsung s3, s4, s5, s7, op3, op5)
oled are good for low battery consumption and high contrast ratio (blacks).
Otherwise, lcd pannels will be faster and more accurate with colors.

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this same problem. When on a white screen like a Google search or aldiko, where the text is displayed portrait mode to the left and right of where text is displayed there are like faint bleed lines where the text is displayed. I tried with brightness all the way up and for the most part they go away but around 50% brightness if you look closely I can see it. Do any of you see the same thing. Just wondering if the amoled screens are like that the Samsung behold II is like that. But godly enoguh in landscape I don't see it. Just portrait. Just hoping nothing is wrong with my cool new phone.
Here are 2 pix of what I see
http://tauruspc.net/pix/1.jpg
http://tauruspc.net/pix/2.jpg
And a better one. Just look to the left and right
http://tauruspc.net/pix/3.jpg
I *JUST* answered your question on google support lol
I have the same thing but mine is definatly not that easy to see.
I just checked and i cant see what youre talkin about so i guess my answer is no
Talk about ironic timing. Weird will look then. And the weird thing is on xda page I don't see in Google support I do. LOL.
Also, I am using Dolphin Browser not default so that may be in play I'm not sure, try downloading it and see if you have the same problem maybe.
Yeh I will do that mainly seems with just black on white portrait mode like Google support. Not xda though.
Wonder if it has to do with power consumption. It takes more power to display white pixels. With the black on the same line maybe those lines with text are consuming less power on the line making the rest of the LEDs on that line of the matrix receive more power, making them brighter?
I tried for about 10 minutes to make that as unconfusing as possible lol
Makes sense. Weird only on portrait not landscape. but just spoke with HTC and they say that haven't heard of any problems like that and can send this in get a problems like that and can send this in get a temp one while they fix it and then switch around again
haven't seen much improvement setting manual brightness either.
I get the same thing, I think it is simply a scaling artifact. When you double tap to zoom the lines are no longer visible.
You can see this effect in the boot loader, but only adjacent (the right of) to where there is text at the left. if you look down where there is no text, and just white space, the ghosting lines across the white are not present.
either way, doesn't really bother me, you really have to look for them to see them.
Yeh double checking I see it there too. So yeh just not me then. Probably just amoled tech. the kind of blinky static lines is what bugs me. Don't happen that often and still kind of have to look to see those but since I have been using heavily since I got it about every 4- 5 hours I see where it gets like static lines horizontally about one pixel think blinky faintly in random spots all over the screen but kindof like static or noise from chip shielding or bad power frequency.
Hey guys. My first hours with the SGS2, and there's something annoying me that I couldn't find anywhere.
I'm getting screen brightness variation depending on the image. On darker images the brightness is higher than on brighter images.
I'm pretty sure this is not auto-brightness. I've tested with manual brightness and the effect is there too. It's almost like if there's not enough power for the screen, and when you have more bright pixels, the screen dims.
Has anyone experienced this?
This is specially annoying when scrolling different content, or even when you are on a predominantly white screen and the swype keyboard shows up, making the white area much brighter.
I'm currently on "Normal" on that stupid screen setting (I have image post-processing). Tried movie too, but still shows this behaviour.
Here are two photos using a Nikon D40 in Manual mode. Exposure has not been changed between both photos. I've put them side-by-side for comparision. Brightness was manually set on the SGS2.
Is there a solution to this? Hopefully it's not a hardware problem .
Hmm, can't post image links... Can someone please post them?

EDIT: FOUND THE ANSWER MYSELF
There's a configuration for Energy Automatic Adjustment (don't know if this is the right text as my phone is in Portuguese). Disable that damn thing .
I was looking at Google Map when I noticed the colours changing. It was as if the contrast was suddenly being reduced making the colours look washed out. When I went to my Home screen my windmill live wallpaper is also looking washed out because the grass no longer looks very green. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I attach some screen captured to show what it looks like.

Go to settings>display>screen mode you have changed the color management. And see if you have enabled auto adjust screen power. Maybe on of those are responsible.

Do you use Custom Power saving?
Could be your battery running out, so its reducing your display to save power.

I'm not using power management and I have the phone on charge.
I've discovered why there's a difference in my Google Maps screens. It seems that sometimes the map is overlaid with a white circle which makes it look washed out. I attach a screen shot so you can see what it looks like. I think the circle is highlighting an area around my satnv location.
But I'm still not happy with my windmill which still looks washed out.
The colours on my windmill home screen have mysteriously returned to normal

wow man there is a huge difference.... no way my gnote is not doing this for sure... try to upgrade to 2.3.6 and see if that fixes it
you're sure it's not a 'feature' of the windmill LIVE wallpaper?
On the second image you have good weather, the sun is shining. On the first image however, it seems as if you have bad weather, no sun, only clouds, thus the gray layer.
So maybe it's nothing the Note is responsible for, but the weather dependend Live Wallpaper.
I know is not the same problem but maybe related,my device have some brightness change in the display, many times i'm reading and see the screen do some dimming the screen lower down the brightness and go back after like 30 seconds to the normal bright,I have enable the Auto screen power but i try desable and the result are the same.

I think you are probably right for nothing has changed except the weather.
I've been trying out Professional Photo mode for awhile now but it just seems yellow-ish.
Standard seems to be okay.
Does anyone else have similar issues?
I was told that Professional Photo mode is more color-accurate

That mode has a larger colour space meant for certain professional photo apps. For movies, and everyday normal life use Movie mode. If you like exaggerated colours go for one of the other options.

Adapt Display Yes.
Auto-brightness No.
I use a Black Background on my Homescreen with White Text (DashClock) and it looks yellowish in either Pro Photo Mode or Movie Mode
I have tried professional photo as well, but somehow went back to standard mode. But for reading books, professional mode is nice as the screen looks warmer.

Weird, I use Ocean HD (beautiful live wallpaper) mostly since I got mine on a charger 90% of the time and discharge it fully every 2-4 weeks. Maybe I forgot to mention a setting or it is a defect of some kind (software or hardware).
Worst case you could reset your phone to default and immediately set it to Movie mode to see if your clean phone already has these problems. Hope you get this resolved soon, and by simple means.

maybe it is something wrong with my eyes. Standard is definitely more blue whereas Pro Photo and Movie are more warm in color.
there's a switch when I reboot my phone from Blue hue to warm.

Yes, after a reboot it starts at a default screen mode setting and after a couple of seconds it checks your settings and then changes it. I noticed this an hour or so ago on my Note 3.

The default is Adapt Display, which on your homescreen exaggerates colours, so my blue underwater Ocean HD screen looks even more blue. It switches to 'normal' blue.
I just checked some more settings, but are you by any chance using Power saving mode or any of those other fancy settings? Having owned 7 Samsung Galaxy devices by now I always immediately make a round through all settings and switch off everything that is useless (to me). I hate stuff like auto-brightness, which may be great in a car if you use the phone hands free.

hmm I use power savings mode but only Limit CPU and Disable Haptic Feedback. I unchecked Auto Adjust Screen Tone too (it supposedly saves power)
Do you use Lux to adjust brightness?
hmm. mine is a black background with just DashClock in White Text. it gets a little yellowish.
In Standard. it is like mint white.

I would disable Power savings etc. for now to see if it helps. I remember some option with "Lux" in it, but really I just disabled Auto-brightness and adjust the brightness level in the notification panel.

I gave it a try before but it still looks kinda warm/yellow. it is not like there is a yellow tint/screen but the screen just looks warmer.
I've actually never seen an Amoled with Perfect white color.. always a bit to the warm side..
I tried both Movie and professional mode, don't like them at all more yellowish/greenish on the white
especially when comparing it to an IPS LCD screen... then the NOTE 3 is very warm and a tiny bit greenish on white (standard mode) only really visible when side by side with example LG G2...
But then on the LG G2 skin tones looks a bit pale, and with to blueish/cold
so it comes down to what you prefer
I'm a bit torn between them... but when it comes down to choosing I think i prefer the Note 3 screen...

I came from an S7 EDGE and I just got my OP5 and there's something I hate about my new phone. Every photos videos on YouTube, Reddit , internet in general looks washed out. The colors are good but when you pay attention, you can see the same artefacts you see on a highly compressed video/photo. In other words, the screen looks like it's not even a 8 bit color panel. Do you guys know a solution about this? I never saw this problem on any phone ( I'm a cellphone seller in Canada ), not even on my S7 EDGE, Alcatel IDOL 3, Nexus 5
Maybe it's because it's pentile or something
You might want to change the screen calibration method under settings / display and see if that helps at all.
Unfortunately the problem is still existent. Look at the uploaded screenshot with your phone The colors on the dialer supposed to be gradient but it's not. That my problem .

The dialer looks lighter at the top and darker at the bottom--are you saying there isn't enough transition between the two or that the colors in the screenshot are inaccurate? You might want to do a search for gradient android dialers (which should have screenshots) to verify the problem is with the phone rather than with the specific app you are using. All of the gradient screenshots I pulled up looked fine on my phone but the color changes were a lot more subtle than the one you provided. It's possible you have a bad display or that it's calibrated incorrectly for some reason. I've never noticed any problems with the colors on my OP5 and never read a complaint similar to yours.
You might want to make sure Night Mode or Reading Mode aren't on in settings because both would affect the colors.
Also make sure ambient display is off to verify that isn't doing anything screwy.
Have you rooted your phone or installed a custom kernel or anything like that? Do the colors look exactly the same when you boot into safe mode?
I see the banding in the dialer (the background where the dialpad is). Given that it's a screenshot though, that part is likely to be how OnePlus designed the dialer app (screen issues wouldn't show up in a screenshot).
