low brightness of oos - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Will flashing a custom rom provide a better display brightness accuracy? On Stock the slider has to be at least at ≥60-70% for proper viewing.

Try EX kernel/manager and set minimum brightness to 42

Will this work with the stock kernel? If not what kernel are you running?

I dirty flashed from 9.17 and now the brightness is so much higher for me. If before I was using 50% not the equivalent is like 15%.

This seems to be fixed in A10 stable.

Configure Automatic brightness

Hi, does anybody know if there any possibility to configure min/max level of automatic brightness. All I need is to increase the min brightness (it's too dark for me) - is there any app or some kind of "registry" hack for that?
Hmmm... the minimum brightness on mine is too bright, IMO. Laying in bed with the lights off, it's almost blinding...

Try to see anything on a screen in a room, filled by a sunlight. Is it still too bright? I mostly use this device while sunlight, not in bed
I find both cases annoying.

Bump.... Anyone able to figure out how to do this?
Now Froyo has improved the auto brightness somewhat we really need a hack to increase the minimum brightness or just increase the auto brightness level by say 2 notches. Its always just a bit darker than I want it.

Couldn't agree more.
New autobrightness is pretty much perfect for me during the day! I haven't tested it at night yet though.

[Q] SetCPU for MT4G?

Is it safe to install SetCPU on the MyTouch4G now that we have permaroot? If so, what are the settings we should use with it? Just not sure if the current kernel has been tested with SetCPU or not, and if it works what version of SetCPU... 2.0.3 or 2.0.4?
Thanks.
I am running 2.0 4 with autodetect. Set at 1024mhz performance. No issues and been running 3 days now.

So you're not overclocking it then, correct? What is your setting for the minimum frequency?
I have it at 245mhz.
Sent from a rooted myTouch4g Glacier.
set up a profile under screen off and set max down to 3000 and minimum at 2000...saves me ton of battery power now
also download auto killer memory in market and set to optimum for even better battery life
I thought that over clocking required a custom kernel?

Were not overclocking... simply managing the CPU more efficiently at its existing speed set

The closest options for this are the following:
368640 max
245760 min
What did you use for the scaling and priority settings?
EDIT - Added a screenshot to this post. I've tried both 2.0.3 and 2.0.4, and no matter what I set for the minimum setting it stays at 245 (not what I defined). Does it not work then on this stock kernel?
I was going to say the same thing, from what I have seen on my phone setcpu is not doing anything. It won't change any of the clock speeds whether boosting the low end or limiting the high end.
I have tried a few things like setting profiles for less than 75% battery to lower the max clock speed and that doesn't work either. Am I crazy or are others experiencing a placebo effect on profiles lowering clock speed when screen is off?

For HTC phones need to be rooted and also disable perflock. In setcpu: menu->perflock disabler. I set my perflock to disable on boot.

Hot damn, that fixed it! Now to test it out further to see how well it works here. I'm not looking to overclock, just underclock when I'm not using the phone. Thanks for the tip!

Just an average power-user. I email and text a lot as I own a consulting business. I am constantly on the go and need my battery to stretch as long as possible.
That is why I kept the stock kernel and didn't over-clock. I simply removed all the bloatware and non-essential apk's that I didn't need and set up a few profiles in SetCPU and now I can get an easy 2 days of power use out of it.
As I still employ the stock kernel and stock ROM I have no lag what-so-ever. Response is perfect IMHO.

SO I am new to this... I used your same settings and my bat shows 56%. On the my screen it still shows that its jumping from 1024-245. Am I missing something?
EDIT: N/M I am just dumb and forgot to preflock!
So I set my profile to have
Screen Off Pri 75 Max 3K Min 2K
Bat 75% Pri 50 Max 7K Min 2K
Bat 50% Pri 50 Max 3K Mn 2K
I will let you know how it goes but I am hoping for some good bust in bat life.
Had some issues when waking the phone, so I changed the settings on the screen off to Max 768. Going to test.
I also moved the 50 Bat to 30 and still getting good life out of it.
Well I have been experimenting with some profiles in setcpu and I have noticed a great increase in battery life especially when in standby a lot.
So i have done this according to what works for everyone else. But... my battery still drops from 100 down to 40 in about 5hours and it has been this way since the 2.2.1 smh. I dont kno what to do. I do text alot and get on facebook mobile semi frequently but mainly text and omg the phone gets up to 104 degreez wen using or charging. Any suggestions ? Or anythjng i may be doing wrong

kernel which allows to use FauxDisplay and in the same time reduces temperature

Guys, I've read a lot of threads, but didn't come to a conclusion.
I'm looking for a kernel which allows to use FauxDisplay control app as I'm not satisfied with colors and the one which allows to reduce the temperature of device because mine is getting really hot. I'm not interested in battery life - i'm going to manage this through disabling applications which run in background.
Thank you.
Colors: PA Rom
Temp: Franco (it has color settings too)

I just came from Franco, it has good CPU control but doesn't off the Faux123 interface that FauxDisaplay needs for the full colour and detailed gamma control.
I'm using Matr!x 7.5 which seems to be the best of both worlds, so far..

Touch Frequency?

How do I lower my touch frequency? Whenever I touch the screen immediately two cores jump to the highest frequency available which is 1267 MHz, I have the max frequency locked at that in general... So how do I lower it, or would this not help the battery? I am trying to figure out how to lower it to around 883 MHz for the purpose of saving battery? I am using Trickster Mod btw

Thanks will give it a try with this rom, usually doesn't help me with battery life but I will give it a shot! Will report back how it goes. By chance do you know how big of a difference letting the kernel and rom settle for a few days makes?
dunno... what are your expectations on battery life?
with dorimanx kernel the results are usually more noticeable after a charge or two

A minimum of 5 hours screen on time... But yeah guess im gonna have to wait a charge or two to see the full effects.
Can you suggest a good settings combination for battery life? Just flashed v5.0 of Dori:silly:
read a few pages back on dorimanx kernel thread, someone posted good overall battery kernel settings, but wait for an 5.x update because something needs to be fixed in alucard governor...
btw STweaks app also has preloaded profiles you can change if you don't want to fiddle with the settings manually...
have fun

I went about 10 pages back, could you by chance post a link or tell me what page number it was on? I saw screen shots on someones battery life but not settings.
i don't know the exact page, i'd have to search it too...
btw don't be lazy, you can test several settings in stweaks yourself. or use predefined ones... many people find the default ones good enough but not all of us use the phone the same way...
cheers

kernel adiutor + stock kernel

Hey there,
Just to let you know that with bootloader unlocked + root (magisk) there is a nice set of tunable option with kernel adiutor. With a bit of entropy and governor tuning, you get even better performance from your a2. That's pretty cool ??
Can you share your settings? Hours of screen, performance... And kernel adiutor setup

disabled cpu boost to avoid cpu stuck at 2,2
Change governor to on demand
Entropy increase to get 40% free
Mostly it.
SOT depend on my use and vary between 4-5 hours to 6+ hours. This is mainly due to two factors:
-network coverage (this can suck your battery like nothing)
- use if BT + viperfx for hours ?
The best way to test it.. is to test it you may have the same increase as me (4 hours sit at most before mod)

I don't see any improvements with on demand actually. Interactive gives me 0.3%/h drain in deep sleep and I doubt it can get much better

On demand does not improvement battery life as soon as you keep cpu boost in cpu 1. Did you disabled it? For me it was night and day

Unlock bootloader + root the phone and then just install an app called "Kernel auditor" from the Play store and tune the kernel from within the app.
