For some reason, every now and then, I'll send an MMS using Verizon Messages, and it will get stuck on "sending", and never send. This happens when connected to WiFi or data. If I delete the MMS, and send it using Samsung Messages, they go through immediately. Anyone know what that could be? I never had the issue with my S9. It only started when I got my Note 10 Plus. I've tried uninstalling and installing the app, and also going back to older versions, and it didn't help.

So this has now happened to me twice, yesterday being the second time.
I'll get a notification for a message at the top, both times it has been after I already had another SMS message that I had not checked yet, then when I click on the notification to bring up the messaging app there is only one of the two messages waiting there in the list. Both times I have texted the person back and they did indeed send me some type of picture message. After resending I receive it the second time. It makes me worried that maybe we could be losing messages and not even know it. It seems to me this is a software bug (vs. Carrier problem since the phone shows a notification for the message)
Has anyone else seen this problem?
I'm on stock 4.2.2 but the first time it happened was on 4.2.1 about a month ago.
Yea, happen to me as well when I was connected to WiFi. Turned off the WiFi, and told them to send them again and it received them that time. Maybe an issue when connected to a WiFi connection?

I think you have to be connected to data in order to receive a MMS message. Wifi will not work. You will get a notification but no picture.
Of course you can't receive a MMS over a wifi, the problem is that the phone is not switching over to mobile data to receive pictures while connected to wifi. I also have this problem.

I don't quite understand your statement. You say you can receive MMS over wifi but then you say the phone has to switch to data in order to receive the picture? How is that different that what I said?
Sorry, autocorrect stole my apostrophe t. I meant cant as in can not.
I have the same issue. The slide down text msg notification icon reported 3 texts from 3 different senders. When I clicked on the icon I am taken to my text msg inbox but only 2 of the 3 text msgs where there. I then verified with my friend that he did indeed send me a text msg. I have never had an issue receiving MMS texts over WiFi. I use WiFi exclusively at work and home. So I had created the same type of thread on the androidcentral forums.
That's exactly what happened to me today, twice! My girlfriend sent me three MMS, I got the first one and two notifications after. But when tapped, all I saw was the first MMS.
My connection was poor, I thought that could be the cause...

Yea I was wondering if it is a carrier issue or if its LG or Google ?
I think a part of the issue is that the phone creates the notification the moment it recognizes that there is an incoming MMS instead of when the MMS is actually received and able to be viewed.

Well that would be fine if it is a preview of the MMS before it arrives, but when it never arrives is where the problem is. There has got to be a solution. I can't help but wonder whom has sent me a text of which I did not receive.
this happens to me also. its annoying. but i do have my wifi on all the time, so I will try it without wifi on, and see what happens.
I'm having this problem as well and I don't like any of the third-party apps. Has anyone found a fix? Thanks.
Well, I contacted T-Mobile, my carrier, and they went through a lot of troubleshooting. It basically came down to turning on mobile data alongside WiFi because apparently MMS msgs need data to send and receive. Sucks, but there it is.
Ok ever since a couple days ago i cant get mms to send if my wifi is turned on. It sends when the data is connected but not wifi? This has never happened before in the two years or so ive been using gosms. Im actually having issues with the stock and other messaging apps. Anybody have any ideas? Im running force 2.3 w newest kt kernel and everything was perfect two days ago. No settings changed either
I've been having similar issues. But for some reason, I can't receive mms over airwave and I can't send them at all but can receive them when I'm out in town.
Worse part about it is that Sprint can't fix it either. Blah.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I cannot receive mms while on wifi. Any ideas?
This has been driving me nuts. Keep receiving the download button on all MMS messages on both of our phones. Clicking on download does nothing.
Me and the Wife are both having the same problem. I'm on MDL and she is on MF3 and we are both running stock Galaxy S4's. We could send and receive MMS's when we first got the phones and they both stopped being able to do it around the same time. I've rooted mine but her's is pure stock. Data is on and we have also tried wifi. Nothing seems to work. Can receive regular text messages and access the internet. Just MMS's won't work.
Any ideas? I'm at a loss here!
Have you checked the apns?

I did and the APNs seem to be ok. Did some more digging and is there a known issue with Adblocker Plus blocking MMS messages? I tried turning that off and it suddenly got my MMS's sending and receiving again. Odd thing is my Wife's S4 doesn't have it installed and was having the exact same issue. Going to test further and see if just leaving Adblocker Plus off solves it.
Just want to confirm that this was an adblock issue for me. As soon as I turned adblock off, mms worked like a charm.

Did you ever figure out your wife's mms issue? I'm having the same issue and I don't have Adblocker on mine.

I had same problems all the time until I update to KitKat. This is common bug for this builds. Try some KitKat roms from development section. Or if you don't care about root or recovery ETC. just update to KitKat.

I'm running [KitKat][RoM]&[KERNEL]&[RECOVERY][I337-XXUFNB8-4.4.2-KK][SHOstock-i v5.0] [03/01/14] and updated my modem 2 different times and still no luck.
My husband has the same phone S4, not rooted, and today he finally updated his phone to kitkat through AT&T ota and he's having the same issue with sending/receiving MMS.

Then this can be problem with sim card. Go to closest At&t store and replace them.
I use to have this problem on an older phone, S2, whenever I was connected to wifi when I received an MMS. Disconnecting from the wifi and trying again to download the MMS worked.

Talk about unearthing an old message!
Yeah, I haven't had this issue in ages. No issue on either of our S4s. Mine is rooted and her's is stock but neither of us have upgraded to Kit Kat yet. Still have Adblock on my phone but haven't experienced any issues. Can't remember what all I had to do to resolve the issue but it's been working fine ever sense!
I had a similar issue and this fixed it.

I just tried to send a MMS and I can't send it out. No issue with SMS though. I tested it with Google Messenger and Hangout.
Anyone else have this issue?
Are you on WiFi Calling? Have you verified your MMS settings are correct?
I'm using Textra currently, ChompSMS prior. I set the MMS to "System" instead of "Legacy" and it's working great.
Thanks for your reply. I tried various APN setup and nothing helped, and I'm not on wifi calling either. I finally called tech support, they think the problem is the provisioning on their end. They will try to sort it out and get back to me.
Are you using IPv6? Try changing it to IPv4. Also try to reseat your sim card. Did you change your sim card with the one in the box?

I tried changing to IPv4, that didn't help (it helped with download speed though). I switched from Note 5, so my sim should be okay?! My wife's S7 Edge is okay though. I'll try to clean my sim and see if that helps.
I don't see how it would be a provisioning problem if your sim and account are already provisioned and work in other phones. If you switched Sims then I could see a potential provisioning problem and possibly they'd need to update your sim information.

Back in the day when you registered a new SIM before mms would work you had to send one to yourself for some reason. So try sending a picture from your phone to yourself haha

Yeah, I'm not sure the real problem here. Should try to use the new sim that came in with the phone?

You got nothing to lose at this point. If it doesn't fix itself by the morning (I don't know where you live) or at least within the next 2-3 hours I would try a sim swap.

I have a similar issues with mms except mine say "downloading" and then "message can't be found." I am coming from an iPhone and switched off iMessage too. I switched SIMs and it didn't help. Idk what's with T-Mobile's network since wifi calling doesn't seem to help either. My iPhone works fine though.

My wife had this problem. Came from S6 edge+. Every message she tried to send failed. I tried sending her a message and she received it without any problems and was able to reply back and send messages after.

So, after I spend a good hour with T-Mobile tech support, they finally solved this problem for me (and it's easy to fix). The issue is the phone, not T-Mobile network. Go to APN setting page. Click on more > reset to default. Reboot your phone....and that should just fix it. Somehow my APN was messed up and I can't even edit it. So, a quick reset fixed it.
I am trying this soft reset & APN reset to default now. I will report tomorrow if it solves my issues.
My problems is still here.
Have you tried Signal (Snowden-approved encrypted SMS)? Maybe some other texting client?
So it was working yesterday without issue. I can recive text but cannot send them with default messenger. If I use hangout for sms it will work. All sent messages said failed. I have cleared messenger from apps and even gone as far as a factory reset. I am at a lost.
Tried with WiFi calling on and off. WiFi on and off. Safe mode. Nothing is letting the default messenger send.
My only luck I had once was while it was booting I was able to send a message
Did more trouble shooting. Problem is while on lte. Called and opened a ticket with the engineer
Do you have WiFi calling enable? I heard that played an issue for some people

I had the same problem I turn off wi-fi calling and Voice over LTE the fix the problem for me. I can send and receive sms/mms .
I also have intermittent problem sending sms/mms. It would report as failed but the other end actually receives it. Will try disabling wifi calling.
