Anyone purchase an 8525 recently?

I sent mine in for repair as the motherboard completely died, HTC called me today saying they need a receipt showing that I purchased it within the past year so they can warranty it for me. Well, I don't have the receipt since I bought it used a few months ago. Does anyone have a receipt dating within the last year that I could use? All it needs to show is the date of purchase from AT&T, no other information is necessary.......
Better ask the seller you bought it from for his/her copy of the receipt, or.. i dnt know.
I THINK AT&T writes the IMEI number on the receipt, so you couldnt use ANY receipt.
I think I remember my receipts having the IMEI's for the 8525's I bought as well. You might need the original receipt from your phone...

warranty question

all heros have 12 month warranty right? you dont need to apply for it? if anything goes wrong with your phone then you just need to contact htc ? am i right?
thanks
That very much depends on where you are physically located, and where you physically bought the device.
My phone came from T-Mobile UK, and comes with a 1 year warranty. If I have a problem with the device in that time, I should go back to the original vendor (i.e. T-Mobile UK) to seek remedy. In addition, even though I only have a 1 year warranty, my statutory rights are not affected - see this link
Bear in mind that this is going to be covered differently in other regions.
Regards,
Dave
i bought it from ebay. its a simfree version
so will it still be covered.?
thanks
I couldn't tell you definitively.
Assuming you are in the UK, if you bought it from a UK company on Ebay and is was sold "new", then they are responsible. The same may well apply across the EU, but I'm uncertain of this.
If it was bought as second hand from an individual, the situation is not so clear, but it is probable that the original retailer should still be required to honour the warranty.
Regards,
Dave
I faced that issue some time ago and i contacted htc for a problem.
well from what they told me, if the phone wasn't bought at an official htc vendor, then you have no business with htc. Only thing you can do is you can send your phone to htc to get repaired or checked but you'll have to pay for it ( even if you have a guarantee from a shop)
You should contact the store where you bought the phone. And the catch at these local stores is that you should have your guarantee and receipt on your name to be able to claim it. so buying on ebay ...... i cant say for sure

[Q] Dead Pixel

I got the MT4G today. I love it till now but I discovered that there is a black dot ( Dead pixel or dust I am not sure) . Can I exchange the phone directly from the T mobile store that I bought it from? Or should I contact them and ask for a new one? How many days does the last option take?
I'd take it back to the store you bought it from. You should have 14 days from date of purchase.
People seem to forget that this is a manufacturer defect which means when u buy a phone atm of purchase u have a 1 year warranty with HTC so even if the 14 days pass u can still take the phone back and show them the defect or u can call customer service which ever works for u. Had the HD2 and exchanged after a month of purchased because of a defect so don't think u only have 14 days to return it
I went to t-mobile and they exchanged in the store.the new one has a clean screen.about the manufacturer defect,i remember few years ago there was an accepted number of dead pixels on laptops screen,i am not sure about the policy for smadi phones or laptops these days.anyway I was only asking because I read that some t-mobile stores don't exchange phones directly and send you to customer care.

Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
download the app "jscreenfix" from the app store, its free, and let it run for 10 minutes... It might fix the pixel, it just might be "stuck"...

Additional warranty

Does anyone have any more information on what the manufacturer's warranty is going to be like for this? I had read some random sites a week ago saying something to the effect of S Guard which would provide an extra year of warranty as well as include 1 free screen replacement (I suppose kind of how I have on my current Droid Turbo from Motorola). With such a big screen, I'm surprised this hasn't been asked yet. It also would help me make a decision on whether or not to go with a thrid party insurance such as squaretrade, etc. Any thoughts appreciated!
In the US you get 1 month of Samsung Premium Care for free, after that it is $12/mo.
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/premium-care/
There is a $99 deductible for damaged devices, warranty replacements are free.
There is no such option in Canada except if u get one through ur carrier

kinda disappointing considering the original rumors.

Is this phone available offline? And will buying it offline void the warranty?

I'm looking to buy this phone for a couple weeks now but the flash sales are super annoying as I use mobile data to order it and by the time I click buy now it goes out of stock. So I was wondering if the phone is available in offline markets? Also will the warranty be voided if I buy it offline as it is flipkart exclusive?

What about the warranty? According to an answer to a similar question on quora the warranty might not be applicable if the mobile is bought from offline retailers.
If you buy from unregistered dealers you can't get Invoice in your name. So you can't claim warranty.

If you bought the phone in Official Stores/Partner Stores, you can claim the warranty by receipt/invoice.
Also, make sure don't buy any devices from grey markets.
For more information, call the retailers.
Hope this helps.

I was in Roaming with slow internet speed and yet I was able to book Zenfone Max Pro M1 through the Flipkart app from mobile.
The idea is to keep on clicking on the 'book/purchase/buy' as the sale is on (ignore the Flipkart message about try after sometime.. etc ). Trust me you will get one booked in your cart and then soon go ahead and make the payment.
Don't buy from anywhere else, you won't get the 10days return policy from anyone else. Incase if your device is faulty u can return within 10 days to Flipkart. Also, if you buy from someone else you will become second owner (i.e second hand mobile even though it is seal packed) since the bill will be on someone else name.
Keep on fast clicking the book button as the sale is on. All the best.
Flash sell in Flipkart is easy to catch just keep on taping on buy now button and sure you will made it out!

You can buy this in an offline store but the warranty would be under their name , and in case of warranty claim , u need to contact the store directly and they would contact Asus or flipkart. It depends on the store where u get it from .
