What you think people?
Technically speaking, the 2 years of updates that "Android One" promises will be fulfilled shortly in September, so neither Xiaomi nor Google are committed to launch Android Q for the Mi A1, which might take it out? Well, I don't know, the Mi A1 is still a great phone, but as I said before, the 2 years just end in September
Probably if we see the Android Q will be in Custom Roms that in my opinion offer you a better experience in every way compared to the Stock ROM
If we talk about 2 years then the phone was launched on 5 September and Android q comes comes on 3 September so, technically we should get
I would not get your hopes high. The 2 years of promised updates i dont believe they match with the initial release of the said OS, they are 2 years of updates they are released when Xiaomi releases them to the public. Pretty much the same as saying we can seriously expect 2 major android updates in the said period which we already got: A1 was released with Nougat (7.0) out of the box and in those 2 years we got Oreo (8.0) and Pie (9.0). And with new One devices in their portfolio they most likely will prioritize them over such our oldie A1. Anyway if we get 10, cool then. Otherwise we have to get it from custom roms such as Lineage as others like.
Hopefully it won't be buggy like Oreo or Pie and have no way to rollback easily.

I don't think of getting Android 10 on our Mi A1. Buy fortunately web could try It on custom roms. It's been 1 year I use Pixel Experience custom rom. Used stock Onlus for 1 month.

When the Oreo 8.0 update was released, it was pulled due to bugs. Features like high impendance headphone support got broken. Oreo 8.1 update was also pulled because of data loss and safetynet not working. Then the Pie update also broke wifi, BT, 4G and got pulled.
Xiaomi doesn't have a good track record when it comes to major Android updates.

A1 a priori cannot get android 10. The support period has ended, there are only security patches. And in order to run android 10 on A1, you need to run beta testing - what to do cannot, because the beta test team has been disbanded. And updates with corrections and upgrades to the android version will no longer be. Only security patches will remain. And about Android 10 - you can forget, and not hope. Only custom roms.
But can we get in custom rom?

However we still have decent dev and community so we are going to get Unofficial 10 for sure

No.if they update , then one plus will not earn money..
V might get cm14 ... at least unofficially
I think we could all agree on the point that the OnePlus One will get the official CM nightlies. If Cyanogen Inc. is going to update the OPO depends on the user base. (Source: COS 13 thread OP Forums..) Steve Kondik said, with a reason, that they totally rebased the OnePlus One with the COS 13 update, a part of the reason why they did that is that it would make faster OS updates in the future possible.
I believe in the CyanogenMod guys, I think that officially we'll never see Android 7 on the phone, but unofficially I'm pretty confident.
It is evident that Cyanogen Inc is pushing Microsoft mods pretty dramatically to OPO with at least the latest COS 13.1 update.
They will definitely use this phone for the large user base to check for the usage pattern, and other statistics for creating a better baseline and user experience for MOD going forward. And obviously, Microsoft also has an interest in having more people use their "integrated" apps and OPO is very good device for that.
So my opinion is a STRONG YES, Cyanogen Inc WILL update to Android N, but again, 3 months after the first release.

Usually cyanogen stops support after 2 years, just like Google does. OPO could be an exception, both because the snapdragon 801 is still a pretty popular processor and because the phone itself is still rocking. but nothing is sure on this side.

If we're taking a look at the contract for the updates, then the official support ended at the end of May. But as Steve Kondik said, they'll be updating the OPO to Android N if the userbase is large enough (COS). And the official CM Nightlies will continue even a few years after the official support ends. So one way or another, we'll be seeing Android N on the OPO.

It's not really true that Google stops supporting their phones after 2 years actually. Google keeps updating the device if the hardware is still good enough for it. That's one of the reasons the Nexus 5 still receives security patches, just like the Nexus 7 (2013).

I'm preaty sure we will get the Official update from Cyanogen Inc!
If you look at Cyanogen Inc official page, our phone IS THE ONLY PHONE currently running their latest OS (COS13.1).
The Oneplus One was the first well known Cyanogen Phone, and they wont abandon it's first child.
I think we will be updated until google stops supporting its Nexus 6 (SD 805), because it was the last nexus with a 32 bit CPU and Android will soon abandon the 32 bit architecture complitly (my opinion).
Untill then we are safe.
I expect to see Nougat custom ROMs very quickly, eventually, CM14 nightlies, but I expect that there will never be an official Nougat update for the OnePlus One.
Does this apply to other phones having the SD 801 too? I'm planning to buy the Zuk Z1 which has a SD 801. If the OPO receives CM14, is there a possibility of the Zuk Z1 receiving CM14 too?
Even if OPO doesn't get official update, the fan base of this phone and the impact it did to both 1+ and Cyanogen, I think we will still find a way to get nice and crisp Nougat experience. But who knows. Time will tell

First of all, Android Q will NEVER BUT EVER be released in May 2019. At the very best may be announced and some selected devices be granted with a developer preview (obviously Pixel devices). The final release to the public will yes, probably be in October 2019, but once again firstly for Pixels and then other high range phones. There is no way that Xiaomi will release Q on the fly right on October, and much less for our A1, when they have the A2 and (probably) an A3 by that date.

Have you seen any info from Xiaomi team about rethinking their decision about keeping MiA1 "un-trebled", switching their ideas just to take the funny P, carrying with all the process of repartitioning each device's drives, all inside of an update pack, with free support? → no matter which risks people would suffer if something just goes wrong with such update.

Let me explain it another way :
When someone (in this case Xiaomi) is under a contract (think of the Android One Program as a contract), they (Xiaomi)
are by definition forced to obey some rules (2 years of major Software updates, and 3 years of security updates) set by the other party of the contract,
which in this case is Google. When you buy a device branded as an Android one device, then you are guaranteed those things, and that is why you got
the Android one device in the first place. For those reasons the Xiaomi Mi 5X IS NOT GUARANTEED ANY OF THE ABOVE since it is not an Android one device, despite being literally
the same device hardware-wise, it could never get Android P officially, and Xiaomi could stop providing security updates at any point.
EDIT: ALSO THIS ONE
Stay fresh over time
Mi A1 ships with Android Nougat, and will receive 2 years minimum of OS upgrades. And since Android One users are among the first to get new OS upgrades when they’re released, you’ll have access to the latest features and innovations even sooner.

I'm on official pie, and haven't faced any bugs besides a bit of battery drain and and little animation glitches. Everything is all Gucci.
I will go abroad on holidays and considering that I have an EFS backup so I can downgrade without any problem, I think that i'll go back to Oreo.
I need that battery lasts longer and a good signal reception that now is very bad (other than the LTE issue that I solved my self)
Every time I do the same mistake, accepting the update immediately without waiting for others users feedback, and this time Xiaomi did a disaster.
However I think that Pie will be last major release for Mi A1, they learned that more recent is the Android version and more difficult is to make it supporting older platforms, and SD625 is actually an old platform.
So yes, the update was luckily pulled down but the disaster is done. I hope they will found a fix for everything they messed up.

really?are u still believe it??its first time u use asus phone?this not first time they lie to us.
honestly speaking, am i the only one who thinks developers on xda are better than asus developers ? oh yes ofc xda devs are better undoubtedly.
coming to updates part you see its a stock android and still it is taking so long for asus to fix it and update properly and on the other hand we have color and miui os which inspite of being completely custom already are updated to pie and that too with no major bugs whatsoever. not to ignore the fact that miui and color os both are very heavily modified.
Also the fact that nokia, motorola, realme, redmi have already updated almost all their eligible (promised) devices to pie months back if i am correct so where is asus in all of this no where near.
tbh asus is kicking of itself and if all you wanted to do was push the beta as stable after a month then should have done that the same day inspite of making a fake promise coz a fake promise hurts more than a bitter and sad truth
EDIT: i know its not an android one device but come on afterall its completely stock not like miui or color os to take time. instead if redmi and realme goes onto this kind of delay its understandable but not when it comes to stock. i still remember motorola before lenevo took it was always the first to update their devices to new android after google why ? simple coz motorola was using stock android
May be, being irregular is regular for Asus.

First, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is not the part of Android One Program. And second, there is a Stable Pie version made available by Asus and with much latest Security Patch Level.

The pie update is full of bugs and what's the point of applying a update if it will hamper your user experience.
Asus sucks and they don't even give any information of further updates now.
