Did everyone got the pie update? Still nothing for me. - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

As the title says. Except for different launchers i haven't modified the rom or network in any way, and the last update is November 2018.

Same here!
Maybe we even get a better more recent version ...

They keep the good one for the nice kids

Better to Wait for a bug-free version (if at all possible!) than installing this version!

They rolled back the update cuz so many bugs were reported.

Is this official? I was so eager to try it

It is. Xiaomi also said that they are working on a fix, so expect the update in the upcoming days.

I'm on official pie, and haven't faced any bugs besides a bit of battery drain and and little animation glitches. Everything is all Gucci.

I will go abroad on holidays and considering that I have an EFS backup so I can downgrade without any problem, I think that i'll go back to Oreo.
I need that battery lasts longer and a good signal reception that now is very bad (other than the LTE issue that I solved my self)
Every time I do the same mistake, accepting the update immediately without waiting for others users feedback, and this time Xiaomi did a disaster.
However I think that Pie will be last major release for Mi A1, they learned that more recent is the Android version and more difficult is to make it supporting older platforms, and SD625 is actually an old platform.
So yes, the update was luckily pulled down but the disaster is done. I hope they will found a fix for everything they messed up.

It surely is.
Android One is supposed to get two years of support, and Mi A1 was released in spring 2017, so...
625 is not the problem, also MI A2 Lite is on the same SoC but it will receive Android Q for sure.

Ever seen any users requesting/whining Apple & Microsoft for monthly update? I'm glad that A1 a budget phone will get monthly update compare to some other flagship phones ... Is/are there any major issue that ur phone not functioning normal atm - e.g Google Pixel battery drained badly after feb update???
I wanted to give Android a try, after my iPhone 8 broke, but even with this Android one, Google and Android manufacturers are still a joke. I got the January update after the 25th, my battery life got destroyed.
Communication regarding the updates and change notes is extremely bad as well, there's no official Xiaomi press release about any of the issues our device is experiencing.
Due to Chinese New Year, updates might be delayed by a few weeks
Don't make this forum like miui official forum. We don't need threads like this.

Will Mi A1 get android Q

It is sure that tissot will get Android P by end of 2k18. I am curious whether it will be lucky enough to get Q update being an Android one phone(software support is for three OS versions).
No, flash custom ROM and be happy.
We cannot tell for sure. Let's start the petition NOW and make it happen ?
No it wont.

First of all, Android Q will NEVER BUT EVER be released in May 2019. At the very best may be announced and some selected devices be granted with a developer preview (obviously Pixel devices). The final release to the public will yes, probably be in October 2019, but once again firstly for Pixels and then other high range phones. There is no way that Xiaomi will release Q on the fly right on October, and much less for our A1, when they have the A2 and (probably) an A3 by that date.

Since we have treble support(Unofficially)we can get developer preview once its released to pixel devices!
I flashed Custom ROM (Android Pie, LR) and using it as daily driver. Android P for Mi A1 officially is still a long way to go.
This is a catastrophic knowledge. While others are thinking about Android Q, we are not sure if we are going to get Android P.
really shame and injustice.

I just want stock ROM to support the recording of videos at 30 FPS in low light conditions, without any mod or something like that. only that.

Where is the evidence of this?
Do you have any?
Why do you ask such things, if your statements aren't even well documented?
Have you seen any info from Xiaomi team about rethinking their decision about keeping MiA1 "un-trebled", switching their ideas just to take the funny P, carrying with all the process of repartitioning each device's drives, all inside of an update pack, with free support? → no matter which risks people would suffer if something just goes wrong with such update.
Xiaomi won't be riding such horse, when it is already running away.
In resume...
Mi A1 with Q, thanks to unofficial Treble process? Possible.
Mi A1 with P, thanks to official Xiaomi update? Keep dreaming.

Let me explain it another way :
When someone (in this case Xiaomi) is under a contract (think of the Android One Program as a contract), they (Xiaomi)
are by definition forced to obey some rules (2 years of major Software updates, and 3 years of security updates) set by the other party of the contract,
which in this case is Google. When you buy a device branded as an Android one device, then you are guaranteed those things, and that is why you got
the Android one device in the first place. For those reasons the Xiaomi Mi 5X IS NOT GUARANTEED ANY OF THE ABOVE since it is not an Android one device, despite being literally
the same device hardware-wise, it could never get Android P officially, and Xiaomi could stop providing security updates at any point.
EDIT: ALSO THIS ONE
Stay fresh over time
Mi A1 ships with Android Nougat, and will receive 2 years minimum of OS upgrades. And since Android One users are among the first to get new OS upgrades when they’re released, you’ll have access to the latest features and innovations even sooner.

How come the Mi A2 is a failure if it's one of the best selling Xiaomi phones on Aliexpress and other markets?
If you don't like it, sell it and buy a new phone, it is that simple, no need to be a martyr.
If you want custom roms, how about you develop it yourself instead of complaning that no one took their free time and knolowedge to make you free roms? I can only speak for myself, as I have no desire in developing for such an arrogant and whiny user base as of the Mi A2's. Or I can develop a Pie AOSP rom and charge for it, how about that?
Android One responsibility are complicated..
So far away for pie
Just talk about some bug on current 8.1 rom (like slow emmc read/write speed, unresponsive proximity sensor n etc) and some miss faeture and support like arcore, camera2api, tap2wake...
Im sure they work on it but not fast like miui
To be honest mi a2 are overshadowed by redmi note 5/pro, and poco f1, so this phone not much attracted/interesting for some community developer...

I'd rather have a smooth and bug free phone than a rushed update. I mean, both the A2 and A2 Lite are full of bugs. Nokia is working with only Android One phones, while Xiaomi have so many to work on. They are slow anyway.
Guys, my topic says its a premium phone and don't have any problem with it. Getting superb screen on time, pics, android one, fast charging and dont need much.

Pie update is in testing, Xiaomi sells far more A2 than all Nokia combined, so the extra care, whatever pie update should come in few days with November update.
Sent from my Xiaomi Mi A2 using XDA Labs
The main reason why I bought the phone was Android One. I expected to receive updates as early as possible just like the damn website on Android One is saying.
Until now, Xiaomi is a big f*cking disappointment because of bugs, CPU frequency lock (I have a phone that can't be used with Fingerprint and those morons at Xiaomi don't even want to acknowledge that), slow updates, no camera2api enabled by default (I had to erase the phone!), TWRP etc.
This is by no way a premier/premium phone. The Galaxy A5 2016 I had for two years was way better because it felt and ran like wind.

No, I'm very confident, also its Xiaomi goal to announce it before Xmas sales season begins to push A2 sales yet not as good as the A1's.
Besides Android Pie goodies, another improvement is to include Bluetooth LDAC support, and maybe improvements on camera.
We received the November security patch now, so i think we will be receiving pie in December only..... Thanks for your reply

tab s3 android pie (9.0) general discussion

With android pie set to be coming this month I thought I'd make a thread to discuss new features and any issue with the new update also to let people know when the update starts to roll out etc.
I have had my tab s3 since 2 months after it came out and am looking forward to the last os upgrade this tablet is set to get
Believe me, I postponed factory reset and cleaning junk from my tab s3, just because I am anxious to get the update. Hope it will be worth the wait.
Things I expect the most are dex mode, and night teme. Hope one of these two will be covered by update. Of course, I cannot wait for One UI aesthetics, as I like it, seems more minimalistic and simple compared to Samsung Experience... Checking for update daily

"Android Pie update for Galaxy Tab S3 and S8 Active may not be too far off
It appears Samsung is finally gearing up to release the Pie update for the Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy S8 Active soon. Multiple variants of these two devices have received Wi-Fi certification with Android Pie onboard, indicating the release may not be too far. while August is current roadmap, i might be wrong , but i recall seeing July as release month in older Samsung roadmaps.
Being Tab S3 a former flagship tablet, i am quite unhappy with the delay. Its Samsung call, but i believe they have already updated to Pie many cheaper devices from same vintage.
the true reason of my post is just to vent my frustration, as i am also checking for the update every other day!

yeah, thanks ,i was aware of current roadmap
my point is twofold:
- i would bet than on older version of roadmap update was bound for July release! i didnt keep a copy of old roadmap so i just rely on my memory. i understand that the roadmaps are dynamic and not carved in stone
- Device Pie certification made me expect an earlier release.
unmet expectations=frustrations.
not a big one in my list of priorities though.

I only hope it (Pie) comes in order for improvements in LineageOS (hopefully Official) and related ROMs. I'm on 8.0 Tweaked (Sammy stock) and it's great but still nothing beats Stock Pie.
Down side to having Pie is that there is no official Xposed for Pie, EdXposed is a hit and miss, even more so the modules.

I doubt it the cpu in the tab s3 came out in early 2016 I don't think it has the power to run it as it is more heavy than android plus if they have it was mode they would discourage people from getting the new tab s6 or the tab s4 they want us to upgrade remember.
It came out in 2017, I don't see the reason it wouldn't have it

Yes but the snapdragon 820 processor came out in 2016 (announced in 2015 ) so the cpu itself is quite dated that's what I meant. I would love it to get dex made just dont think it would run very smoothly even if it did get it

We may can get Android 10 (Q) update?

What you think people?
Technically speaking, the 2 years of updates that "Android One" promises will be fulfilled shortly in September, so neither Xiaomi nor Google are committed to launch Android Q for the Mi A1, which might take it out? Well, I don't know, the Mi A1 is still a great phone, but as I said before, the 2 years just end in September
Probably if we see the Android Q will be in Custom Roms that in my opinion offer you a better experience in every way compared to the Stock ROM
If we talk about 2 years then the phone was launched on 5 September and Android q comes comes on 3 September so, technically we should get
I would not get your hopes high. The 2 years of promised updates i dont believe they match with the initial release of the said OS, they are 2 years of updates they are released when Xiaomi releases them to the public. Pretty much the same as saying we can seriously expect 2 major android updates in the said period which we already got: A1 was released with Nougat (7.0) out of the box and in those 2 years we got Oreo (8.0) and Pie (9.0). And with new One devices in their portfolio they most likely will prioritize them over such our oldie A1. Anyway if we get 10, cool then. Otherwise we have to get it from custom roms such as Lineage as others like.
Hopefully it won't be buggy like Oreo or Pie and have no way to rollback easily.

Oreo 8.1 was probably the most stable version yet.

If we talk about 2 years then the phone was launched on 5 September and Android q comes comes on 3 September so, technically we should get??

That's what I've been thinking since I've got the phone!
I don't think of getting Android 10 on our Mi A1. Buy fortunately web could try It on custom roms. It's been 1 year I use Pixel Experience custom rom. Used stock Onlus for 1 month.

When the Oreo 8.0 update was released, it was pulled due to bugs. Features like high impendance headphone support got broken. Oreo 8.1 update was also pulled because of data loss and safetynet not working. Then the Pie update also broke wifi, BT, 4G and got pulled.
Xiaomi doesn't have a good track record when it comes to major Android updates.

A1 a priori cannot get android 10. The support period has ended, there are only security patches. And in order to run android 10 on A1, you need to run beta testing - what to do cannot, because the beta test team has been disbanded. And updates with corrections and upgrades to the android version will no longer be. Only security patches will remain. And about Android 10 - you can forget, and not hope. Only custom roms.
But can we get in custom rom?

As you're seeing now... We could get something almost pure if we switch our device to Treble... People is starting to build GSI images with Android 10 for Tissot.
Official 10 - NO.
However we still have decent dev and community so we are going to get Unofficial 10 for sure
