#1 No, Android OS is installed & booted from an sd card.
#2 No, same answer as #1. Since Android OS is installed & booted from the sd card Nintendo can not detect it.

Ok i rooted a bunch of android phones but this is my first winmo phone. so i am a noob to this. I just need some clarification on porting android to the hd2. In order to port android i must flash a custom winmo rom and load android as kind of like a "secondary" OS right?
So everytime I reboot my phone I must reboot it into winmo and then load android? And is there currently or is anyone working on a way to boot straight into android?
Sorry for asking so many questions and sounding like a noob but I just want to be 110% clear before I try anything.
I believe there are android roms that boot right into android.
In order to run Android:
1. you need to go through the [BUILD]s in the Android Development section... located in the other HD2 area.
2. Unless otherwise instructed by the build creater, you need to make an Android folder on your SD card, and copy the contents of the build into that folder.
3. If you have an "Android Friendly" ROM, there will be an icon already to start Android, which will auto-run the CLRCAD.exe (for sound to work) & HaRet.exe (which loads Android) If you are on a Stock ROM, or one that does not have the Android loader, then you will either need to run those in order manually (CLRCAD then HaRet) or download the Android loader applet (in the Android Development section)
4. If you want Android to load automatically, there are custom ROMs found in the Android Development section that are setup for this purpose, HOWEVER, you will need to make sure that it's TMOUS HD2 compatible
5. if you experience "issue xyz" be sure to check the Android Development section, as they have probably already addressed it
ok thanks so much im gonna be porting android over as soon as i get home from work today hopefully i do it without screwing anything up lol
Will Android work w/Outlook sync? Also, are you still able to tether with Android? I've searched around but haven't found the answer. If no for either then that will be the deal breaker for me. Thanks in advance

it does work with ActiveSync, it that's what you're asking?
as for the tethering, look in the build notes.... they give a list of options that do & don't work.

nice thing is, if something does get messed up, reboot format the sd, put the build on and try again ;-p since it runs off of the sd and not ROM, there's little chance of doing something a reset can't fix

Hey, thanks for the info. I appreciate it!
Hi. i bought an htc hd2, but i did not like windows, so my brother installed android on it. i belive it is MDJ evo ROM, but i dont know what radio i am using.
-anyway, i noticed android is using about 70% of my battery, is this normal? (my older android phone used like 10%) does changing rom help?
1. If i want to change my rom, all i have to do is replace my old one on the SD card?
2. If i backup using titanium, how do i get the restore-file on my new rom?
3. a friend of mine is buying hd2. do he need to flash hes phone to be able to install android? ive read a "definitive guide to android" here on the forum, but from a "new user" standpoint its kinda hard to understand.
So it is:-flash phone, -install rado, -drag/drop android on sd card?

1: Yes, Android is contained in it's own folder on the SD Card, if there's nothing else you wish to carry over to the other build, format the card and put the new build on, then boot in the usual way.
2: titanium backup creates a folder called rather unsurprisingly "TitaniumBackup" on the root of the SD card, copy that over to the new build, install Titanium and select restore and it will give you a list of options to reinstall. Google for the wiki on the program and it goes into a lot more detail about how to do all the steps.
3: Yes, pretty much. Although some users will tell you that you'll need a newer SPL version, so long as you're using the latest stock winmo rom the spl is not needed and radio also get's updated along with it, then it's just a case of booting android.

Thanks for the great reply =)

HaRet is the hardware emulation invoker for Android to boot. ClrCAD is the audio part of android as well, you need to boot clrcad, then haret on all builds else you'll get no audio.
Lots of roms now have dual boot options, they are just an automatic clrcard/haret loader and some come built into roms, yes. Else they are just a cab file you can install yourself.
Today, I updated to a new version of Android on my HD2 because I was having problems in the past versions with data connection not working most of the time.
I decided to install WP7 on it in hopes that it would work better and my data connection was perfect. However, I was having problems getting activation to work. I want to go back to Android, but the problem is...
Whenever I turn my phone on it goes into the MAGLDR and runs WP7.
I have Android on an SD card, but I don't know how to get to run Android.
I can get the red/green/blue screen by holding down the volume down button, but I'm not sure if that would help the problem.
I appreciate any help from you guys so much. I hope I haven't messed my phone up.
Did u try holding the power key while magldr is loading? If u want to flash another Android rom then go to option 4 then press the green key (use volume keys to choose option)..else choose Android sd option to boot directly from sd card..(don't think u can do that wid da same sd.)
Ok, so If I have Android on another SD card, I can use that and boot it. I have Android on the current SD card and when I go to that option it says something like "sd kernal failed."
You have to use modified roofs image to boot from SD card search under Android SD development.
Sent from my HD2 T8585 using XDA App
What exactly is a modified roofs image?
Would anyone be able to help me in a step by step process? I'd appreciate it greatly!
I'm kinda stuck with a phone with WP7 on it and all I can really use it for is calls/text/internet browsing. I would really like to go back to Android and use those apps.

Hey,
I wrote a little tutorial to get MDJ 4.6 HD to boot from sd via magldr. The edited rootfs.img is attached there too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10702019&postcount=93
Or go to the first page of the same thread, there are more sd builds that people got to boot with magldr (but most of them do not have the edited rootfs.img file attached)

Thanks so much
Hi everyon
I own a HTC HD2 which I upgraded to W7, and its pretty awesome, but the fact that I can't activate the App Market and not recieve mms with my carrier its kinda bad to me. So I want to switch to Android, but I have a few question first.
I would be able to use the app market? What are the features that I won't be able to use?
Do I need to go back to the original software and then to Android?
Thankss!

you can simply move to android as following :
- download the HD2 NAND Toolkit from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
then :
1- task 29
2 - install magldr
3 - choose usb flash from magldr and install CWM recovery from the repartitioning option in the program
4 - open recovery from magldr from ad recvery choice
5 - copy ur android rom to ur memory card
6 - choose install zip from sd card from recovery and choose ur rom
you actually have to take out the sd card out insert it into a reader and do a fat32 format in order to remove ALL wp7 files...you just cant wipe ad install android will not work after that you cant do as mido stated in the previous post with the wipe mangldr and all that
Only use my Note 3 to play audio and video files.
Recently noticed some video files missing on a 64GB exFAT mSD card.
1st thought they had been deleted by Note 3.
Just did a chkdsk scan and everything OK. Have a screen capture of this but do not know how to attach.
Additional Info: My Note 3 has stock Android 4.4.2 (KitCat) and never rooted.
Am Open to all suggestions how to correct this problem.
Hey I might can offer some assistance. BUT IM A FRESH NEWBIE TO THIS. I MEAN I JUST STARTED REALLY MESSING WITH MY PHONE 2 DAYS AGO. First what type of note 3 do you have? (ie. Sprint=SM-N900P) do you have service on your phone? Do you have any experience with custom ROMs?
SurageBook said:

I hope not as this is not the Sprint model forum .
OP i would copy data off then full format sd card as a starter .
Damaged files look in the Lost Files folders .

SurageBook "what type of note 3 do you have?" Verizon "have service on your phone?" No "Do you have any experience with custom ROMs?" No
JJEgan "...i would copy data off then full format sd card as a starter." Agree did copy the wanted data.
As previously mentioned have used Windows longer than Android so used chkdsk to examine & fix the mSD Card. Everything was OK and all the missing files were shown and Not damaged,
Since posting I backed up all the wanted data and then put the mSD card back in my Note 3. All the missing files were there and undamaged. Can anyone explain this?
From experience most Windows users reload the OS every few years.
Am wondering if I should Factory reset my Android 4.4.2 OS?
Any recommendations?
Man if you just use that phone for a media device just create a backup of your phone, SD card, and copy it to your PC then install custom ROMs until you find one you like and root that bad boy. My note 3 is my primary phone with service and I have about 10 custom ROMs on my SD card that I switch every couple of days. Earlier today I was on Havco OS 2.8 android 9 now I'm on some rom that when it turns on theres a pink unicorn and its on android 7. Its easier than you think. Things you need are 1. TWRP(for your phone model) 2. Odin(on PC to flash things to your phone*optional) 3. Custom ROM 4. magisk(to root your phone) 5. Gapps (for the android version that's on the custom rom*optional) 6. Enjoy
SurageBook Thanks for the tips!
Do you know if any good tutorials concerning how to root the Verizon version of Note 3?
I don't know about Verizon I'm on sprint but if you go to the Verizon section you'll find a guide for your firmware. https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/general
Please guys post in the forum for your phones .
Otherwise i see a reply on here not your models leading to a bricked phone .

Was the link problem only on my PC? I am using Chrome browser.
Also is it possible to post screen captures?
