Hi. i bought an htc hd2, but i did not like windows, so my brother installed android on it. i belive it is MDJ evo ROM, but i dont know what radio i am using.
-anyway, i noticed android is using about 70% of my battery, is this normal? (my older android phone used like 10%) does changing rom help?
1. If i want to change my rom, all i have to do is replace my old one on the SD card?
2. If i backup using titanium, how do i get the restore-file on my new rom?
3. a friend of mine is buying hd2. do he need to flash hes phone to be able to install android? ive read a "definitive guide to android" here on the forum, but from a "new user" standpoint its kinda hard to understand.
So it is:-flash phone, -install rado, -drag/drop android on sd card?

1: Yes, Android is contained in it's own folder on the SD Card, if there's nothing else you wish to carry over to the other build, format the card and put the new build on, then boot in the usual way.
2: titanium backup creates a folder called rather unsurprisingly "TitaniumBackup" on the root of the SD card, copy that over to the new build, install Titanium and select restore and it will give you a list of options to reinstall. Google for the wiki on the program and it goes into a lot more detail about how to do all the steps.
3: Yes, pretty much. Although some users will tell you that you'll need a newer SPL version, so long as you're using the latest stock winmo rom the spl is not needed and radio also get's updated along with it, then it's just a case of booting android.

HaRet is the hardware emulation invoker for Android to boot. ClrCAD is the audio part of android as well, you need to boot clrcad, then haret on all builds else you'll get no audio.
Lots of roms now have dual boot options, they are just an automatic clrcard/haret loader and some come built into roms, yes. Else they are just a cab file you can install yourself.
hi everyone i am currently trying to install android 3.2 on my htc hd2 and the steps i am following are to copy the android folder to the root of my sd card and then once i have done this then to tap on the CLRCAD file then tap the haret file then a loading bar comes up then goes to a black screen and in small writing in the top left hand corner it says
haret boot

i have repeated this process a dozen times to ensure that i have not missed anything out last nite i made sure that the battery was fully charged and also i updated my rom from the htc website to the latest version as i have read that some people cant get android working at all unless they did this. i did the process until i got the black screen again and left it all night thinking that it may take a long timer as it is the first time i have ever tried loading android but i woke up and the screen was still there i am not sure what i have done wrong i have watched videos on youtube and read forums but no one else seems to have had this problem any help would be greatly appriciated thanks
i have just tried to boot an older version of froyo android the 2.2v i got past the first black screen and it went to the black screen where the white writing starts to scroll down the the writing faded into white lines what am i doing wrong
back up your sdcard contents to your computer.
format it, preferably from a linux box. if your stuck with win-blows, then you can do a full format, not the quick format.
now put JUST THE ANDROID folder on the sdcard.
put sdcard in phone, boot into android. when it boots, dont do ANYTHING for 5 min. reboot.
once it reboots, goahead and log in, synch etc.... then reboot
after that you can coppy the rest of the sdcard contents back over and be good to go.
which winmo rom, radio rom, and android build are u using?
i am using the darkstone froyo 3.7 build i am not sure what radio is or which one i am using i will try what you have suggested and let you know how it goes
right i formated (full) the sd car using windows vista the only way i could do this is plugging my phone into my laptop using the usb and formatting it that way
then i copied just the android folder to my sd card
rebooted the phone and went to file explorer opened the android folder doulbe clicked on clrcad then on haret
i was then stuck on the screen that i was before so i waited 5 mins just like you said to rebooted the phone and it was still on windows.
i repeated the same steps and waited ten minutes still no luck
also just so i understand after i waited five minutes should i be able to reboot the phone i do i have to pull the battery out like i did and where you put (when it reboots login etc)
is there any way you could email me a file to see if it is the files i am using
thanks for all you help so far guys!!!!
i am from th UK i dont know if that makes a difference
i have a 2gb sd card
i have just done some research on the radio versions and round a thread called master radio for the htc hd2 on xda but i am unsure which one to use and could this be the root of my problem thanks again
OS version 8.2.2.1869(21869.5.0.82)
manila version 2.5.20121429.0
ROM version 1.72.206 (8637200) WWE
ROM date 04/15/10
radio version 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol version 15.32.50.07U
i have just done a bit more research and found out that i need to use a .50 for flashing could this be a problem if i dont could this be th root of my problem
very big part I'd say.... It does say on just about EVERY build that you need a .50 radio NOT a .51....

no, depending on the class (speed) of your card it'll take 15-20 min to initalize on the first boot... theres alot going on in the background.
once its booted...ie: once it shows the initial android log in screen. ie: it has actualy booted into android.
if you pull the battery in the middle of the first boot, you just corupted the data it was writing.
format the card again - get rid of the corupted files.
now start over.
and yes, you got to have the corect radio installed etc.
most roms have a requirements list... if not folow the stickies.
as ive stated a ton of times in a ton of thereads, its worth installing ether droid explorer or adb on your pc if for no other reason but to be able to run a logcat so you can watch it run comandline, aswell as post it so others can help you debug/troubleshoot.
I have the same issue with linux showing that message then it boots up a green htc sign and stays there.. i left it there for 40 minutes waiting to see if anything would happen and never did. I had android running before but did a full format on my sd card and then installed another and this happens everytime i try.
I am running Miri_Dinik- V 19.0 WWE
Radio: 2.15.50.14
I also am using the 16g sd card that came with my tmo hd2
i have been searching for days for an answer and decided to finally make a post to see if i can get any answers
thanks

With SD Android, there is no way to boot straight into Android. For that you need NAND. You can, however get pretty close by using an automatic build loader (search in the forums for exceller bootloader/build loader or something like that) which will automate the process of running CLRCAD/HaReT and allow you to choose whether to boot Android or WinMo. You can set it to load Android after 3 seconds having booted into WinMo.
However, I would recommend using NAND Android if you are willing to do some research and have some free time.
thanks a lot and sorry for the late thanks
I am a newbie to HTC world but not to android as I have good experince in SGS I and II
I will install a nand version on the HD2 very soon and update you since we don't want to use windows anymore
ive got a android sd build on my phone and it boots straight into my android rom . i havent used winmo to boot into android for a long time now and i dont have nand,
when i turn my phone on it goes into mag and u get the go go go , and then boots into android , dont even see the winmo rom .

you should try looking in SD DEVELOPMENT lol,but to be honest, why would u want to install it on ur sd card when u can have nand lol,if u have it on your sd card, everytime you reboot your phone,it'll go back to windows mobile, stay well away from sd card, none of that **** copying intrid & zimage to the root of your sd card lol and haret to sort the sound out,go with nand, you won't regret it
I agree with Ty5982. Nand builds are much faster booting and reliable compare to SD. Any reason why you want SD build?

Agreed with other two posters, NAND is much better. As for your issue, I think it may be radio related, upgrade to HTCs latest official stock ROM 3.14
There's nothing wrong with SD builds. They're great for trying out Android without voiding your warranty, or to be able to dual boot Windows Mobile and Android, or to multi-boot NAND Android and different SD builds thru MAGLDR.
Just follow the instructions in the thread where you downloaded the build from, and all should be well.
Don't rename the folder that all the files such as HaRET and CLRCAD are in.
Go into that folder, open the startup.txt file in a text editing program, and check to see if it has a line that says Rel_path=
After Rel_path= it should say the name of the folder all your Android files reside in. If it's a different name than the folder name, re-name the folder to match the rel_path line, so if it says Rel_path=Droid69, then rename the folder to Droid69, and not droid69 as it is upper/lower case sensitive.
If you still can't get that build to run, try another I guess.

Dude, if you're worried about warranty you are on the wrong site
Also, even if it does void your warranty, Its easy to get your device back to stock. Its not as if you need to open your device and rip the warranty stickers to get Android on nand lol.
No, I'm clearly not worried about my warranty, I was simply pointing out that that is one of the advantages of SD builds. Some people are worried about their warranties, or afraid they might brick their phone flashing a nand rom, and the sd builds are a safe alternative for risk averse or less experienced members.
I didn't say sd builds are the only or best way to go, I just said theres nothing wrong with them. Additionally, I don't think this is the wrong site for those who are worried about their warranties, there's still a wealth of information on this site for those who don't want to void their warranties.

Which Radio do you have? I had similiar problems to you but changing radio resolved them all, the first boot of any SD build should not take more than 20min, more means you're stuck. But again, NAND Roms are totally better then SD - faster, more stable, better battery usage etc. And Android wins with WinMo 6.5 in every challange so I would consider flashing a NAND ROM if I were you. Hyperdroid for the very beginning - definitely the best ROM available.

HELP ME!
Okay I don't know if I'm posting on the right thread or not but I need help. I want to install the IceCreamSandwich/jellyBean rom on my HD2 SD card as well, its my only option since my usb port is broken. I already had gingerbread installed but I want to upgrade. I formatted my SD card (don't ask me why) by mistake. So whenever I cut my phone on it goes to the bootloader menu and somehow I navigate myself back to gingerbread. I'm a "noob" so I have little to no idea what I'm doing. Is installing this after all I've done even still possible? I need help please and thank you!
Hi, I am quite new to the HD2, so I have a question that might sound dumb to the more experienced people reading this.
Is it possible to Dualboot WP7 and Android ? But it is not that simple, I want my phone to boot into android unless I choose WP7 instead, I currently have Android ICS on my nand so what I need is something like the SD method used to dualboot WM6.5 and Android, but the other way around and with WP7 instead of WM6.5
Thanks.
Seems like even if I wanted to singleboot WP7, I cannot, because I cannot even get a rom, all the links are broken, If any on you have a WP7.8 with all the good stuff and tweeks I probably want, please link it.
Hi Traysa, you can only boot wp7 from nand using magldr. magldr lets you choose which OS autostarts in bootsettings. So you would need to partition your sdcard and use an SD android build, or better, a NativeSd ROM.
Shame the links are down, have you checked the last few pages of the threads for re-upped links? What wp7 takes your fancy? I might have it on HDD.
Off to sleep now, night night.
Oh, and you will need an activation code for wp7, don't think Microsoft give them out now as wp7 is unsupported.
Yes, I did look for reups for about an hour, found none, I would like a WP7 rom that has lots of preinstalled apps, because WP7 is no longer supported and getting them might not be very easy. dont really care if its Mango or WP7.8, I just want it to work. And about the WP7 activation key, how would I go about getting one ?
Thanks
edit: Forgot to add, I dont want to install wm6.5, i want to go straight from android to WP7, if at all possible.
The one you say you have ( WP7.8 pdaimatejam v8.8) should work, please mail it, or link it if you still have it.
Oh and pdaimatejam put this code out, it supposedly should work TP4CF-GK479-Q9Q4Q-WPYRP-7YR4D
heres another : CRFV7-X32H9-7QF2Y-CG239-V62YR
Off to work, will look later
After a **** ton of digging, I found a Hd2O ROM from a Dutch website, will try it.
No need for the rom anymore, the rom I found is working great, is it still possible to use the market ? When I try to make an account, it gives me a connection error, what do I do about that ? Also, I didn't use the key like you said, it never asked me to use a key.
Turns out I actually need a code, the two I found dont work. How do I get one ?
Okay, so WP7 is working perfectly, but I want Android too, how do I do that ?
I like either something cool like FroYo, I need an SD rom right ? Heres one,but the link is down ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518 ) I already have a few things on my wp7 installation, so I do NOT want to delete it all, so I will probably need to back it up, but 1. Will it work if I partition the SD card 2. will it even work with zune down ? If you have this rom, please post it

Hi again Traysa, sorry been really busy in RL lately and haven't had a chance to get on xda. How are you getting on?
I posted a working link at the end of the thread you quoted for the Froyo build, but it would still be too big to install on sdcard without re-partitioning. I am pretty sure that you would lose your stuff if you repartitioned.
But see this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41706158 for a way to boot android without repartitioning, it is also superRAM as the original froyo build, and works well as long as you have only a few apps.
Thank you, but I cannot get the ROM, because it was uploaded on DevHost, which I guess does not work any longer, if you still have the rom, would you put it on mediafire or send it as an attachment ? It is kinda sad, that so many HD2 ROMs got lost this way. I am also really surprised that you were able to get android on such a tiny amount of space.
Best regards
Traysa

Hi, this build is soo close to booting, but when I go to Ad SD and launch it, Portadroid starts porting is and then it reboots, any ideas ?
I also have an unrelated question, I recently started experimenting with the CM13 build for the HD2, but I cannot figure out, how to get files onit, when I plug it in, it shows that its an MP3 Player and I cannot put any files on it, when I put the SD card in my PC directly,I quickly figure out that Windows is not Linux and does not understand EXT4. Because the browser/the play store does not work, I cannot put any apps on it, so that its usable, I wanna put a veeeery lightweight web browser on it and aptoide, it that works.
PS : Thank you for helping me, it always makes my day !
EDIT : I figured the file transfer out, I had to switch to PTP in settings instead of MTP.
