Would use a lot of internal space and increase the cost for the few people that would want it so doubtful.
I think the better option would to hope for (or maybe it's already supported?) dual eSIM support
pixel 4 or xl
I've been waiting to buy a decent phone for a year now. Earlier i had se neo v then z1 compact. I love smaller phone that can easily fit in my pocket and palm. With lots of people thrashing pixel 4 for battery, still i want to go for pixel 4 as there is no smaller phone available in market. What you would suggest pixel 4 or xl.

Hide battery icon?
I have an unlocked and rooted Pixel 4 still on the October update.
Is there anyway to hide the battery icon? It's easy to hide some of the other status bar icons but the battery icon has historically been tough to hide without xposed, and I don't think xposed is working properly on 9.0+. Man I miss gravitybox!
Is there a magisk module that can do this? Or some other app like systemUI tuner? I prefer battery bars of the icon, it saves status bar real estate.
:good:

You can turn it off in the system UI tuner which is accessible with root (I think root is required).

I'm so confused with the Photos. The only pictures applications can see are the screenshots. What should be my settings so that, ie, Snapseed can read and use the pictures I have?
Help Rooting Pixel 4
Hi guys, I am new to this forum and also new to rooting.
I am planning to root my pixel 4 just to use motion sense option in Oman.
I went through some procedures and videos in youtube but still scared to do it because there is chance of bricking my phone, ryt?!
just want to clarify few things.
1. What if it doesn't root properly, Can i bring my phone back to factory setting? Unroot possible?
2. What are the disadvantages in rooting? Malwares and virus can get in easily? Is it possible to protect?
3. Is it possible to install apps from apptricks.co or appinject.cc or tutuapp (like premium apps for free)
I appreciate your help & comments on this
Thanks,

First phone I installed a new FW on was my Ericsson T68 when they had the joint venture with Sony and released the T68i FW, I tend to play a bit. I will try and stay on the stock ROM for as long as possible but.....

I think heating problems will be the least of my problems!
I do like iOS because most things work and don't need customization. I like the idea of Android because you can get it to do anything you want, I have wasted far to much of my life messing with phone's FW but have gad a break, now to waste a lot more time methinks.

Check if your device has light bleed, gaps, moving parts, or cracks
And don't get shocked by the display colors. You can easily adjust them with root and a kernel which supports gamma control.

1) Be prepared with your Google account.
2) Log in www.gmail.com --> Click Left corner "Gmail" text and choose "Contacts".
3) In "Contacts" click on "More" --> "Import..." and choose your exported iPhone contacts from www.icloud.com
4) After the import you may want to try..."More" ---> "Find and merge duplicates". This will be the view on your Phone's phonebook. You can manage it from your PC (www.gmail.com) or just from your Android phone.
Turn on your phone and follow the welcome assistance, enter your Google Account with all your contacts already loaded.
Now you are ready to start exploring.......(Update to latest version...if any....try Google "Keep" for Notes...update apps with Play Store...etc).
I'm helping a friend who is coming from iPhone (he had iPhone 1 and iPhone 4) to Android...He will start with a cheap Skyrocket (Galaxy S2 4.5'' AT&T dual core 1Gb ram and a good camera sensor) with 4.2.2 stock (non-samsung) Android called CyanogenMOD.
So i did this with him.
P.S: You may want to disable GPS, NFC, Google maps location settings (Report from this device & Enable location history), Cell broadcasts, in order to save more battery.
If you want to ROOT your Nexus 4 (have administrator rights for your device) please consider that you first will need to "Factory Reset / Wipe" all your Phone (because you need to unlock the bootloader first and that action wipes your Nexus data)..
So...i recommend to do this first. (But it's going to be premature for you....).
And..you can't compare Root with Jaiilbreaking....because "root" concept it's simpler. JB it's another thing....completely different.
I hope it helps...
So today someone I work with from SlimRoms found you can quickly change the dpi of any device running 4.4.2 (not sure if it's possible before that).
I'd post this in Android General, but I don't want to step on his feet, so I'm just posting it here for you guys. (I really hate large text/icons/anything on Android since I'm short sighted)

app drawer:
Obviously I take no responsibility for any issues it causes since it's a purely aosp implementation. I was surprised it was even in user builds.
so. how to do it:
Code:
adb shell wm density <number> # I used 200
or with a terminal emulator (you need root for this [try without to see why you need root]):
Code:
su -c 'wm density <number>'
if you want to go back to the default, do
Code:
wm density reset
The default density is 240 for reference. Lowering the number makes the icons smaller.
Enjoy, and credit to @gmillz from Slimroms for finding this
Sorry for an off topic question, but what's that TESCO icon in your status bar??? Seems like operator name, but I've got XT1022 from India but this operator name doesn't gets displayed this way... Not that I miss it though...
This would be really helpful for the damn big icons in the Google Now Launcher.

No, my message wasn't exactly in par with that, because I'm thinking Motorola would've made it wisely to identify carrier name immediately when you start using your phone, sure dragging the notification bar takes time. My old Nokia 1100 had similar fashion carrier name in the left section, and battery bars in right, so I must say its fair enough by them to follow the General cellular phone screen layout guidelines.

Yeah I enjoy unlocked rooted phones. I love to run custom Roms, aosp, tw, doesn't matter, just having choices matters. Samsung is chasing government and big business contracts with Knox security features. Finally no SD card and closed battery doesn't bother me that much. I'll go nexus 6 in a week or 2 so I can get my fix.

If samsung goes no sdcard on a note that would just be crazy.. why are all the companies pushing for cloud storage with most people on data limit packages.
Just doesn't seem like the best thing for the customers. That's all gain for the company.

Ha .....yeah that sounds awesome. I had unlocked Note 2 for over 2 years was in hangouts with a dev fkfmfz so I always had fresh black gapps and themes ....as well as awesome tw roms ...soooo nice...then I saw this deal on a DE note 4 I couldn't resist. Its a great phone don't get me wrong, there just isn't the Dev interest in a phone or manufacturer that is so locked down. I remember when Adam Outler quit unlocking Samsung on Verizon....sad day.
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
As far as for pushing for online storage, you best believe it is the government pushing for it. If your info is hidden they can't randomly read it if it's on your memory card. No conspiracy theory, just a fact. Seems like Samsung is trying to imitate Apple. This Note 4 will be my last Samsung device too. I'm tired of locked bootloaders, moving towards no extended memory expansion and non-removable batteries.
Those specs are nothing special.
Probably won't even bother.
This note 4 is my first Samsung device and I do enjoy it but I'm with you guys, this well be my last one. Most of my experience has been with team iPhone and I left it because the specs on this phone were so great and I used to have an Android device way back in the gingerbread days and wanted to get back to using different roms. Although there are things I like about this phone, this has been a big disappointment for me. Even if root is achieved with in a couple days, weeks, or months my upgrade isn't too far off. I'm either going to go back to team iphone or maybe give sony a try, I feel like they may be on the right track, they are making their boatloaders more developer friendly.

In all honesty it's because with the introduction of lollipop google is moving towards the direction of not using SD cards anymore as we have seen. Manufacturers are just following along as well. With that too they are just adding larger memory to the phones to help make up the no SD card as seen with the s6

we wont be getting any answer until users will have this device in their own hands...
this is same story as the oneplus 2... they say its not gonna heat because of the lower core power combo with the sd810 but some users still experienced heat issues after using the device for some time...
so possible that the answer would ,, yes theres still heating up , or no its cool now...
so again we have to wait for the real world experience...

Your old USB chargers should work; the underlying USB standard's backward's compatible so it shouldn't have any problem drawing power from older USB chargers that supply the necessary voltage to the device. I have a OnePlus 2 and I'm able to use the accompanying cable with a variety of chargers.
any word on a CAT 6 modem for carrier aggregation ( especially on sprint/Fi)

Yes, http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_nexus_6p-7588.php
AndroidPolice said the device is USB 3.0 yet all the cables they sell on the Google store is USB 2.0. Does this matter? Can I buy any USB-A to USB-C on Amazon and assume it's compatible with quick charge? Any car chargers out right now that can do quick charge?
Thanks!
So I have a concern regarding the 810 V2.1
I have the OPT right now and I'm returning it
I noticed that the 6P has down clocked it as well from 2.0 to 1.8, the OPT definitely throttles when you game for a while and gaming tests have shown this how the phone starts lagging.
Even when you run benchmarks continuously the scores keep going down.
Is this something we should be concerned about? Or is the following happening with the OPT because of how they have configured their OS plus the OPT definitely gets hot when playing games on it for a while.
Will verizon carry this phone and if so will they lock it down like they've done to most of the Samsung devices

None of the US carriers are carrying the device. I just want to know if we can use it on Verizon at all. It supports all of their radio bands.
Micro sim (n5) to Nano Sim (n6p)... cut to resize or order new Sim and transfer number?

I've read that even with the open source hardware driver binaries, the nexus devices still typically suffer from issues with custom ROM's like certain features not working. Is this true, and if so why?
I love this phone and I'm looking forward to getting a CM or custom CM based ROM with theme support to make the OS look cool. Personally I find plain Android to be ugly. Better functionally wise but ugly, so a CM based ROM on the Nexus 6P with Project Fi service seems like the best of all available worlds.

I watched the Nexus event live and also it has been confirmed on numerous sites, this will definitely work on Verizon's network, as long as you have a nano sim for Verizon.
I heard of issues with the Moto X where you had to call customer service with your phone info, but even if this phone has the same issues, bottom line is it will work.
Ok when they say "The camera has the largest pixel of any smart phone." Are they referring to the camera sensor itself? I've never heard of a camera component be referred to as a pixel
Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on the 240 fps goodness.

So....maybe im missing something but....
is motorola's own gallery app not compatible with their newest device? Or do they just expect us to use Google Photos? which i think is a significant downgrade from the actual motorola gallery...

I found a gallery apk from the Moto G that worked for me at:
http://www.androidsage.com/2016/06/...e-camera-file-manager-command-center-gallery/
Seems to look and work just like the one from my Turbo. Funny I didn't notice it missing till I read your post.
I'm very interested about audio quality on headphones. I was reading the reviews but there was nothing specific about this matter. I'm kinda audiophile person, and I;m very demanding when it comes to music playback. Right now i have Xperia Z3 which is awesome music player. I also have audiophile grade headphones.
Did someone tested it in more detailed way, in the matter of audio playback?
Can you share some thoughts on it?

So any way to disable the increasing ringtone? Tried the Disable Increasing Ring app in the play store, but didn't work.
And evidently this should work... But evidently you have to be rooted to edit the /system/ folders/files.

notifications and ringtones
So I bought the moto F Z and moved my sd card over to it.
My subdirectory structure is
/sdcard/media/audio/music
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
worked fine on my samsung S5
Where do I need these to be on the moto F Z ?
I ask because setting up an alarm does not show any of my music/ringtones.
Anyone using a hotspot tethering app or have a solution?
Anyone else notice that the jbl speaker messes with pics/videos using the flash?? I have a battery pack on its way soon. Does that interfere as well?
Also, how's everyone's call quality? I've read a couple reviews where some interference was noticed but the call quality rating was good. Mine hasn't been the greatest and I'm wondering if I have a bad device.
Edit: I exchanged my device and call quality is much better

The audio quality is great. I got the Moto z @ best buy for $1. I was a little taken aback about the attachment needed for headphone jack. The bass compared to my LG G5 is much deeper and richer without any equalizer adjustment. I tried several songs and radio on both. So if you like bass as I do you should be pretty happy. My $12 headphones sounded like they cost more.

Yeah, buy the tethering package. /snark
Free tethering apps, such as FoxFi, have either not worked for Moto phones for a while, or sometimes worked if you used their VPN. But there are not guarantees.
Do you not have hotspot on your Moto z? I do.

Moto Voice
I've been away from Moto devices for awhile. On the original Moto X the Moto Voice would work even through the lock screen, but that doesn't seem to be the case on this version of Moto Voice on my Z Force. I can only do certain things behind the lock screen. If, for example, I want to text someone using Moto Voice, it tells me to unlock the phone. This is super frustrating since not touching your phone should be the whole point of voice activated controls. Do you folks know a fix for this, or is this just what Moto Voice is nowadays? Thanks for your time.
Is there a setting to add "Reboot" as an option when you hold down the power button?

I believe you have to change your overall lock setting to not have any kind of password/gesture/fingerprint security.
