Just braggin'...

In the event that anyone else is in the same boat, I thought I'd share my experience with the Acer Iconia tablet in conjunction with my CM7 Evo. In a word: awesomefulness.
There's no wifi at work (don't judge), so I've pressed my Evo's wifi hotspot capability into action, and I really couldn't be happier. I'll probably die of some sort of radiation poisoning, but I'm good with that. Using Touchdown for Exchange and Docs to Go, I have an ideal manager's tool.
I took a road trip to Arkansas this weekend (from the DFW area), and used the same setup while in the car (I rode in the back seat). Couldn't have worked better or smoother, really.
I've also rooted the Acer, which makes life all that much better.
I share because I care. Props to the CM7 team for turning out such a great product.

How much does it run? I've heard great things about it so far! I want to get an android tablet but I can't decide which one I want. Right now I have an ipad 1 but I would be much happier with android.

I don't know about the Acer but my mom has a zoom. It badass all the way. I'd almost kill for one but it depends on who the target would be lol

Just like there are many tablets, there are many ROMs. The OP is simply sharing his experience with the combination of CM7 and the Acer Iconia.
BTW, iitreatedii- is that your new girlfriend? She looks different than she did in the last two pics...

it was three pics...and no shes the same, i was advised by a friend of mine to stop trolls to simply remove the pics altogether so people like you stop trolling every post i make, it works most of the time, that's why i haven't changed it back...

The over hype of the cm team....? They are referenced the most due to their size of development and everyone knows what they are. Can you tell me of any other phone os that has the reach that the cm team has and conducts its self with all their code being out there and releases nightly builds like Linux distros wtf man.....oh yeah where's your nexus your "agent" guarenteed last week lol

I didn't start this thread to bash or praise any one particular ROM over the other. I'm using CM7 on my Evo with my Acer Iconia ($449 for the 16GB model). The Acer has a USB port, so you can actually charge the phone battery from the Acer battery while the phone provides the Wifi hotspot. I just thought it was cool. YMMV.

New ROMs....

I'm like a kid in a candy store! I barely get one ROM on my phone and another great one comes out, sometimes from the same developer! It has got to stop! I am flashing ROMs left and right, neglecting work, family ect ect! What a quandary! I think I am an Evoholic! Is there a 12 step program for guys like me?

There is a one step program. Smash your phone and get an iphone and have zero customization.

Its something that is long dying, that at 21 I'm glad I have it, its called willpower.

Cold turkey indeed.

I do the same thing. I keep telling myself I just want 1 good ROM to flash and let it settle and just use my phone. Then I see something new and shiny and start the process all over again.

All these ROMs are the same ****. Seems like some guy, I mean dev comes along, slaps some dumb name and a boot animation in it and SHAZAM! new "ROM".

What I do is flash cm7 nightlies, so I can flash something new whenever I want, but not really have redo much..

I can quit any time, really I can.

Not all of them are created equal. There are about 3-4 people that are actually doing bases, IMHO, but the rest are more like themers. Still, sometimes it is fun to try a "themer's" version as not all themes play well with each ROM. They can still do way better than I can so I take my hat off to them all!

I agree that so many of them are the same aside from some minor theming. And many are way less stable (and slower) than stock! I have settled on stock (with bloat removed by myself) and it honestly has the best stability and battery life so far. I have probably tried 15 different Evo ROMs over time, and each has it's issues, be it battery life, crashing apps, losing connevtivity, etc. I apprecuate the work that the devs put into it (for free!) but it rarely pays off for me. Stripped down stock simply works best for my phones (despite the dubious speed test scores...)
Anyway, rest assured that you will soon have an Evo 3D with a whole new set of ROMs to try ;-)

LOL!! MY roommate bought my old Moment, that was rooted and setup with my ROM, and he didn't know squat about Rooting, etc.
Now, every time I see him on his computer, he's all over SDX-Developers Moment section.....
Another flashaholic is born!

I have a better idea:
- Buy an IPhone 5
- Break the outer shell.
- Put all the parts in a Galaxy S2 body.
- Make cutouts for camera, buttons and ports.
- Use tape to cover the empty space in display.
Voila! You have a S2 running 100% IOS..

The ROM suggested by you is based on CM7 with iOS theme. You can find similar ones in dev section. Try looking for MIUI or CMMIUI based Roms

We Buy Android to use anything we feel to use on our devices.
So, TO 2nd , 3rd ,4th and 5th Posters...... I have used 550+ handsets in Life and , my Google Play Store screenshot will show u what I am capable of.
U guys comments made u look like fools.
Grow up, this is ANDROID, the Apple Basher, and using the IOS type on phone means bashing those Iphone users by showing off, who think that their IOS is GOD made OS of the World.

It's okay I recently bought Sliding Messaging, its a great app made from someone here on XDA! Comes with emojis and everything you can imagine still in heavy development, only con is mms messages. Besides that, it's a good app.

My current phone, an HTC Vivid, had cm10 with emojis, but it had a in-call bug that volume was too low and you had to scream for others to hear you, so i replaced it with another ROM. Is there already a root for the S4?

Just an update, I found these 'emojis' in my Instagram profile. I previously typed them in using my emoji enabled iPad 3rd gen & these are what appeared when I was using my G4. Normally on my other phone, they were just obnoxious blank squares.

haha I acctualy steal my brothers oneplus one at night and flash kernels and update his rom without him knowing(I enjoy the high it gives me)

I'm a recovering flashaholic, been there done that, now just want to enjoy it rather then constantly tinkering, it's too obsessive. Root, xposed, TWRP and custom kernel will do just fine

well there are like 4 aosp based roms atm, and theyre working on bluetooth and hopefully camera. shouldnt be more than a month before everything is done and working perfectly. well the tmobile version does..

i thought so that it takes some time till everything works perfectly but thats ok.

My best part is when i put my full flashed moded G3 with some others and always they says wtf how you do that show me teach me send it to me. I have hard bricked my xperia c. desire z. x10mini . lg l5 now i have them in dust. I hope G3 can handle me and dont brick. ?

ok i have until now fortunately none of my devices hard bricked... i had bootloops and so but that happens sometimes.

I'm also a flashaholic. The best feeling about is if it boot up with bootloops or error. aaaaaaahh

Hi my name's Jon and I'm a flashaholic. *audience says "hi Jon". Long time HTC user on Sprint. Originally started rooting on the OG evo 4g to remove excessive Sprint bloat. Went to evo 4g LTE and continued with my addiction. Switched to Nexus 5 and remained stock (go figure) because stock Nexus was perfect for my needs. Now have a Stump'd and Bump'd G3 and am dying to get some AOSP goodness flowing through this beast. Thanks to talented devs, that appears to be coming soon. In the meantime, I'll be here jonesing like a crackhead.
