Play Store Server Error - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Anyone else having this issue? I cleared the cache, data, and uninstalled updates. Won't work on WiFi or cell service.

I signed out/in of my Google account and still have the issue

I have the same issue

I did a factory reset and it's still the same issue.
My phone is the OnePlus version switched to Global. I have had the phone for a couple weeks and everything has been excellent until now.

Just wait. It's a server side issue and many people have this issue.
Mine works fine again.

Now mine works again

Thanks, mine is working again.

I get the same error yesterday after OOS 9.0.13 update.
Partially solved after clear cache and data for Play Store and Google Play services and delete Google account. But Installed applications were not shown and the "automatic update" per app field were missing.
Solved after install last update of Play Store and Google Play services from APKMirror.

I updated to CPB3 this week, and have experienced problems with the Play Store - getting the 'Connection Failed, Retry' Message, but only when on WiFi and only intermittently. It's very strange, as switching to Mobile Data or toggling Airplane Mode temporarily fixes it. I've tried clearing cache and data for Play Store, removing my Google account and re-adding it - but the problem persists, and it definitely only started after the recent OTA update. Only thing I haven't tried is a factory reset, but I'd rather not have to do that.

My Play Store eventually updated itself again though, so back to square one. I'm afraid I think the possible solutions at the moment are:
1) Factory reset (no guarantee this will work though - anyone willing to be the guinea pig?)
2) Wait for Play Store next version to see if that fixes it.
3) Roll back to stock 5.1.1 COJ5
4) Wait for next firmware update (Marshmallow?) to see if that fixes it.
Open to any other suggestions!
EDIT: Have also tried a different WiFi network, and changing the DNS server to Google (normally use OpenDNS). Also cleared cache in recovery mode.

Seems it might just be a coincidence with the OTA, and it is a Google Play Store issue which we'll have to wait on Google to fix.
Actually, I'm still getting intermittent 'Connection Failed, Retry' in the Play Store even after uninstalling all updates and also trying version 6.1.14. I'm back to thinking the OTA update to CPB3 might be to blame for my issues. Don't want to factory reset, but I'm running out of options as my data allowance for the month on mobile data (which Play Store does work on) is fast running out!
EDIT: Just unmounted SD card and the Play Store started working again immediately! Weird :/

OK, just an update - after Unmounting and Remounting SD card, clearing cache on ALL apps, and updating to lastest Play Store, it is working normally again...for the moment... will report back if it changes :/

...and problem is back. As soon as I went into Accounts, Google, and hit Sync, the Play Store stopped working again - not to mention gmail won't sync either. This problem seems to affect all Google services >:<

Another update: just discovered this is affecting all Android devices in the home, including a Galaxy Tab 3 and an older phone. So NOT related to the OTA in my case. Have tried three different DNS providers, which made no difference. Guess I'm back to waiting for Google to fix this :/
Go to settings - applications.
Find Google Play.
Click on uninstall updates.
Then go to multitasking and close google play.
Open Google Play.
Download updates and apps.
Then go to settings in google play and click on update.
Then tap home button and new google play will update (if not restart phone and open GP and click update).
I had some 6.2.4? version
Now I have 6.0.5 (google have make some mistake with it).
Sorry for my English.

Thanks - done all that multiple times, now on 6.0.5 and still having the intermittent problems. Other devices I have are doing the same thing, so I can only assume it is something to do with a Google update somewhere. Just tried the Store while typing this and it's currently not working though on 6.0.5.
Try uninstall updates on Google Play services in applications (in settings).
And try wipe cache in recovery.

Done all that, thanks, see previous posts. It is happening on EVERY Android device in the house, so not just related to my Note 4. So the only options are: it's either a Google services related problem, or it is a problem with my internet connection or router.
Kinsman-UK, does it still have problem for you?
I having a similiar problem where my play store suddenly wouldn't update, and if i tired to update it, it would force closed. I have tried different versions and all the method that are listed here but still doesn't work.
Even tried restoring the factory version and it wont' load either.
Any Ideas?

Yes, I'm still having this problem - with every Android device in my home, no matter what version (KitKat, Jellybean, Lollipop), and on two different Google accounts. I have tried all the above solutions and more, with no success. My problem is as follows:
Play Store will give 'Connection Timed Out, Retry' when I try to access it over WiFi. Over mobile data I have no problem. However, the problem is intermittent - sometimes if I leave it for a while and come back, it will work over WiFi, but then 5 minutes later it will stop working again. Everything else works fine over WiFi. Accessing the store over 4G first, and then switching to WiFi seems to work *most* of the time as well.
I have come to the conclusion that it is either my router has a problem or my ISP has changed something - because nothing else has changed across all the devices. For now I'm just putting up with it for a while to see if Google resolves it somehow on their end, but eventually I will have to try a different router to eliminate that as the cause.
UPDATE: Today the Play Store seems to be working more often than not on all the Android devices in my home. We still occasionally get the 'Connection Timed Out' message, but it seems to be gradually improving. When it fails on my Note 4, toggling Flight Mode or switching momentarily to mobile data to get the Store up and running seems to do the trick. Still at a loss as to what the issue is, but seems like it's gradually 'resolving itself'. Apologies to the OP for 'hijacking' this thread, hopefully some of the solutions shared will be of help with their issue too.
EDIT: Just to confirm that as of today (next day) this issue seems to be resolved after getting an update to the Play Store to version 6.3.16.B-all [0] 2697688 (not sure if any other underlying Google Services components were also updated).

how do you get past this?

Had play store issues all day yesterday, server error messages, you cannot update Google play services without updating Google play services. Tried everything, deleted cache, data from play store and Google services. Reinstalled play store and services. No joy. Nothing worked. Finally removed Google accounts to hope it would let me sign back in. Hope, now permanently stuck on checking info. How do you get this to work to enable your Google account set up? Many thanks
I have no idea, but maybe you can flash Gapps?
Play store is broken, you wait it out until google fixes it. I have had luck running updates when I plug my phone into the stock wall charger. It doesn't work with pluging into a computer to charge only the stock wall charger.
How can Google play be broken if it's only happening with the axon 7? I've just Googled the issue and only axon 7 users are having this issue

Is the connected to the waiting error im seeing on other threads. I've done everything except a factory reset. Would this clear it do you think? Even installed latest version of play store yesterday. Still no joy.

Smart lock stopped working

As soon as entering pin it says Google play services stopped. Rebooted and same thing. I have no idea why it stopped working, just the other day I added another bt device, after latest official Oreo update.

It was my substratum theme. Fixed by reapplying and ignoring Google play services theming

TMO OnePlus 6T Play store "Downloading/Pending."

Good morning,
Long story short, lately my TMO 6T is having issues downloading anything from the play store. When I leave it sit on the charger overnight, for whatever reason, it downloads.
I have cleared the data/cache from the app. I have removed the whole Google account and wiped the cache via SD Maid and I've also cleared cache from the "Recovery" option during boot-up and then went and signed back into my account on the phone and it does the same thing.
I have checked out my Android tablet on the same wifi network (home) and it downloads immediately with the same Google account logged into the tablet and phone.
I have also turned off Wi-Fi and tried using the TMO data side of things (Yes, I turned the option on to allow downloading over data and not Wi-Fi enabled) and the same exact issue continues to persist.
Stock OS. Non-rooted.
Please help and thank you,
Whiteice

Uh not sure but did you Disable Advanced Optimizations? OnePlus Phones by default Turn Off Wi-Fi at night. I had the same Problem. Would place apps to Download Over Night but still Waiting Tomorrow. Head into Battery -> Battery Optimization and three dots. Also turn off Battery Optimization for Play Store via Advanced Permissions.
*UPDATE* I came across a thread that one of the responses said if you have the apkpure store app installed to remove it.
I did that, cleared the cache via SD Maid and rebooted and all of a sudden it is working no problem.
Thank you for the advice and hopefully this might help someone else in the future.
Whiteice.

Mate 30 Pro & LG Watch Urban 2 - can´t copy Google account

Good day.
I have the Mate 30 pro (international version) since yesterday. I installed Google completely using the backup method and took over the rest of the Mate 20 pro via phone clone.
Everything works without problems, except for Wear OS.
The connection to the LG Watch Urban 2 is established immediately, notifications work but no Google account is transferred. I tried all methods that I found on the net. Both devices are also reset to the factory settings several times.
No chance to transfer the Google account, it always terminates with an error message.
Is there another way to do this? Maybe by sideload?
I thank you in advance for any suggestions and ideas.
Kind regards
Update ... problem solved
I don't know what exactly helped.
Had a newer version of Google Play Services downloaded to the phone via Aptoid. With this version, the Mate 30 was suddenly no longer certified and, for whatever reason, the phone became extremely hot. So I uninstalled it again and reinstalled the Play Services from EMUI Googlepack, reinstalled Wear OS and at "Transfer account" I had to enter my password for the first time. Then suddenly everything worked.

I was having the same issue with my Ticwatch Pro and only got it sorted about 10 mins ago. I reset my watch, then removed Wear OS app, then cleared the data in Google app and rebooted. I don't know if this made a difference, but this time I left the watch on the charging cradle and went through setup, and it worked first time.
Hello,
I have the huawei p40 pro with the GMS installed and I have the same problem as you.
I have the ticwatch pro and the problem I have is that it gives me a connection error when I want to copy the google account to the smartwatch.
Any other solution?
Thanks in advanced!!
