I never tested the phone out when I first got it, but I checked to see if it was unlocked by putting in a new sim card. Seemed to be unlocked. I did the "root" method on here to flash back to an older OS which worked for what I needed it to do. But ever since I got the phone, calls are constantly missed (I can use another phone to call this mobile and the mobile won't ring, it'll go to voicemail), my calls are constantly dropped, I rarely can call out, if I am able to call out the other person might not be able to hear me. The only thing that works well is the texting. I use Ting as my provider and have spoken to them many times because the original problem was that I couldn't access my voicemail and it kept giving me a mmi error. They gave me the voicemail number to directly call which I've been doing to get around the error of using the built in voicemail system. They've stated verizon phones aren't the most compatible with their system and they suggested maybe the sim card isn't functioning properly. I've spoken with their customer service at least four times over the last 8 months but these problem never really went away.
Anyone have any idea what I can do? I need a reliable phone now for phone calls. Should I try flashing back to stock 6.0? Or do you think it has nothing to do with what I did to get the "root" on it? This is the guide I followed:

ive been searching the past 10 hours or so now...i updated my rom with hardspl 2.40 and R4R Reloader. i then dialed *228 and pressed 2 to update spl settings. after that i installed the verizon carrier.cab file and im unable to use anything still. the phone turns on but am unable to place any calls, it tells me to call *611 for verizon technical service. are there any setting or steps ive missed to get the verizon service back up and running?
Sounds like you need to call Verizon and get your A-Key. I've had to do this a couple of times. It's relatively painless. Good luck.
I believe if you have an older verizon phone laying around that you can go to the website and switch ESN to your older phone, wait 5-10 minutes and then switch back to your 6800 and it should auto-update the a-key for you.

if you are receiving a message that your phone cannot be authenticated, you need an a-key reset from verizon customer service. the correct order after you flash should be flashing your new rom, installing the carrier cab, dialing *228 option 1, followed by *228 option 2
Last night I tried to send an SMS, but it wouldn't go, so tried to make a call and it just wouldn't!
So I tried to call me number only to get the message "Calls are not currently being connected to this number". If I turn my off and try to call it it goes to voice mail etc.
I have tried a factory reset, but its still not working. it thinks it has a network, and my internet works on the phone. also, the SIM works fine in another phone...
anyone got any suggestions, I'm going away over Christmas and really need my phone to be working.
If the network is refusing to connect to that particular handset it suggests something a little more sinister.
Just to confirm, SIM in DHD does not work, no sms, no calls. SIM in another handset works fine.
If this is the case, then your DHD may have been IMEI network blocked, i.e. reported lost or stolen. Did you buy the DHD from new?
For a small fee you can check to see if your DHD has been reported lost or stolen > CheckMEND
That's right, SIM doesn't work in DHD for SMS's and Calls, but does in my other phone, but HSDPA does work.
the phone came directly from T-Mobile, I called them but they we're very unhelpful, didn't ask anything or check any thing, just suggested sending it away for repair!
I'd get it replaced. Sounds very odd. Have you tried another SIM card in it? Its probably SIM locked, so you'd need to sort that out before you can try.
Just to fill you all in, I eventually got this sorted! only took three weeks!!!!!
What happened was, the phone T-Mobile sent me doesn't match the box and paperwork it came with, the IMEI and Serial numbers are different.
It now transpires that the idiot who has the matching phone/paperwork/box etc. lost their phone and reported it stolen, so when he gave them the phone details, he (or she) gave them "my" details resulting in my phone being blacklisted!!!!
So they have now un-blacklisted my phone and updated the details on my account. still no explanation as to how it happened, but at least my phone is working again.
I bought a used phone from internet website, its worked great and it was locked on T-mobile UK. I got it unlocked from fastgsm and used my tesco sim with the phone.
The phone worked great for couple of days and on the third day it worked upto 11am (that is when i made the last call on the phone) and after that i am getting 00:00 Ended every time i press call even to voice mail.
it does not call anyone no texts either and when someone calls me it says the phone is switched off.
Steps i have taken to fix the issue:
I have swapped different sim cards.
i reset my phone through settings and diagnosis code.
I have updated the firmware to the 7740
I have installed a new unbranded UK retail firmware. its still running this firmware.
I have checked if the imei is blocked or stolen or something on a few websites nothing came up.
I have searched XDA to see if someone else has this problem and there are quite a few people here with the same problem but no solution.
I need help i have no idea what to do next
everything else on the phone works great no problems wlan connection keeps it connected and all the other features are fine its just the phone calls and text msgs which i cannot send or receive.
i have tested my sim on other phone it seems to be fine.
Please help i am not sure what to do next.
thank you and regards
Call Samsung support.
I've got a very similar problem - I can access the internet with my SIM but I can't make a call or send a text.
Omnia 7 - originally on orange but unlocked.
Any help appreciated.
ok then xda cant help me with this problem lets see if samsung support can do something about it. i have called them and i am taking the phone to their service center.
wish me luck i will report back if there is any news for other people with similar problem.
I have the same problem. Ive done almost all the steps as you have. Im beginning to think that its a hardware related problem. Maybe the sim-reader.. Well, i bought another phone but I hope to fix it anyway. I'll be back to check your progress in the matter.. gl
I can also contribute that I did the unlock via fastgsm.. (without any errors) And that may be the cause. But 1 thing is different though, I could never make any calls at all. You said that u were making calls.. I had a very long email conversation with fastgsm that ended with him not responding to me at all. But that was some time ago and I deleted the emails.. Not that I think it would help. Now I use the phone as a surfing pad (wifi/data ok) its sad really... lol
That's a terrible problem, I feel for you guys.
Definitely get it contact with your provider or SAMSUNG to get a replacement.
I can't think of any settings which you could change other than the obvious ones.
I have the AT&T G2, rooted and Unlocked. Currently running kitkat via Cloudy G2 2.2 and have TWRP. I bought the phone to use with BYO Wireless, a prepaid company and all went well. I stuck the SIM in and activated it; there wasn't a problem. Until I realized that I couldn't receive any texts! I can call and be called, can send SMS and MMS, and data is fine as far as I can tell. The one, consistent problem over every ROM I've tried including reverting to stock is the lack of SMS on the receiving side.
I read online to try and put it in another GSM phone but the only one I could find said "Invalid SIM", it was an old Blackberry.
I've already tried taking it out and powering the phone down for a while, which only solved the issue where the SIM wasn't detected.
hi,
I have a intermittent problem with incoming calls.
I takes my son a least 3 times to get though.
Its either engaged
rings twice and goes to answer phone
rings once then enaged
or says 'this number is unavailable'
I'm with virgin,
phoned them numerous times and they have altered the voice mail ring times and things, then decided it was the sim card.
New sim card came but was exactly the same, so more codes entered for virgin, then decide it was the phone.
Phone came back after 2 weeks saying its fix and updated but was exactly the same.
Phoned virgin again they said its not the phone or the network? so I dont know what to do.
While my phone was away being "repaired" I bought a cheap £15 phone from tesco and put my sim in it and it worked fine. Maybe its because its a simpler technology.
Any help would be appreciated
