j5 prime lagging problem - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

hello everyone
I bought a "samsung j5 prime" in October 2017 and its initial operating system was Android 6.0.1
At that time, the only problem with this mobile was the high battery consumption
A few months later, Samsung provided android 7 (nougat) for j5 prime - I updated my phone for a new update in the hope of fixing it high battery usage
but not only did not fix my phone's battery problem, "the hanging - lagging - some times reset" problem was added to it
A few months later, Samsung provided android 8 (oreo) for j5 prime - I updated my phone for a new update in the hope of fixing it "hanging - lagging - some times reset - high battery usage"
But only 50% of the battery problem was solved and hanging and some times reset problem was solved
now i have lagging and delay in performances problems
for example when i want to moving between active apps windows , active app windows will appear with a delay of 2 seconds
or
when I want to use the keyboard, keyboard letters will appear with a 3 second delay
And the handset is very slow and very lagging
I've already factory reset it twice but my problem was not resolved
now i want to downgrade my android oreo to android 6.0.1
but I'm scared
Because I read in some of the forums, After downgrade, there will be problems with mobile
for example "imei null - network problem - frp problem - ringing problem - ..."
what should I do?

Flash an aosp rom preferably based on android pie as android pie's battery optimization is a hell of a lot better than before and aosp ROMs are light and way faster than samsungs firmware

A5 2016 - huge RAM usage and system-wide crashes

Hi.
So, I bought a Galaxy A5 2016 as my new daily driver. What a beautiful phone, really. Pretty fast, better than I expected, I must say. But things are not going so well.
I have a intense usage pattern. On the morning, I use Spotify (sth like 20-30 min), then e-mail sync through the day (every 5m) + browsing and messaging apps. Then, more 40m of Spotify. Everything seems in pair with other devices with similar price and hardware specs. Until today.
As my usage pattern reports, I always use Spotify for 20-30 mins every morning. Today, I was using it, and the song suddenly stopped. As a coincidence, my 3G connection is limited - so it's not operating on its normal speed, which roams about 3Mbps~5Mbps - so I thought that the connection was dropped. When I pressed the HOME button, nothing happened. The song suddenly stopped, along with the system. 10 seconds later, the song returned to play. Less than 5 minutes later, the same bug happened again - same MO. 10 seconds off, returns, didn't happen again. Tested Spotify on the afternoon (same conditions + SAMSUNG personal music player running together), didn't happen too.
Along with that, my RAM usage is pretty high. Besides my downloaded applications, the RAM is mostly consumed by the system itself - so maybe root will fix it. But I'd like to know if anyone ran into this abnormal RAM usage. I even thought about memory leak, but that seems a bit odd, since the memory leak stopped being reported in Android 5.1.
Has anyone ran into any of this issues before? Thanks in advance.
I have it for two days now, yup, ram is at least 80% when I clean up the memory.
It's also pretty hot during the lightest use, average temperature is 35C. When idle it's at least 28C. Anyway, glass backpanel feels really hot, is it normal?
What's your average temperature?
I also want to report that i have the same problem on my A510F on MM 6.0.1 (no root). I have disabled many apps like Skype, S-voice, all the microsoft apps and some system apps that could be disabled but pretty much nothing changed... My ram usage is always around 70%, if i clean it it goes down to 55%-60% but then it gets full again. This does have an impact on the overall performance since on heavy games and generally heavy usage, the phone lags and gets hot. I want to know if ROOTING the device and installing xposed modules and/or uninstalling much of the samsung crap will help the phone breath normally. Any answer or tip is welcome
I have at least 70% of RAM usage and i think it is ok... but there ia a problem over 85-90%: then I have almost same problem as you. It's my second A5 16 and still have this problem. I don't know what to do. This issue happens increasingly. I have 5.1.1 and still hope for removing this problem with marshmallow update.
Anyone more has this problem?
Any ideas what to do?
It makes this phone useless when happens so often![emoji35]

Same problems on MM too, 70-85% RAM usage...hope to solve in feature updates.
Sent from my SM-T560 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I don't see anything bad in usage above 85%, the problem is closing, crashing and lagging apps.
If MM (update for Europe/Poland) doesn't fix it I will probably sell this phone. It's unbelievable to crash apps during using just a 2 of them (in my case Spotify and instagram at top and a few used before).

Did anyone try to fix this problem by "turning off apps in background" in programist options?
I would really like to do that, but every time when I turn this option ON and go back to settings and again go to programist settings it is turned off again - can anyone try to do it on yours phone?
Skrobnięte z A5 '16
Mine is always around 55~60% but free RAM = wasted RAM in Android
More free RAM =/= Smoothness
My A5 2016 can multitask very well (Even with games!) and not much lags
So why some of A5's has so huge problems with ram managing?
Skrobnięte z A5 '16
Is there any stock Android like ROM available for Galaxy a5?
I get MM update yesterday, after 24 I can say my problem stops. Phone seem to be faster and don't get above 87% ram usage.
I didn't restore A5 16 to factory settings.

I have problem with level battery when Reach 5% my mobile trun off ??? Plz slov
@up
First thing which you should do is restoring to factory settings and then we will see.

did this happen after u do an update?
im using A5 (2016) for my daily driver.. using spotify a lot too when comutting. never failed me until now (4 month). in my region A5 still dont get MM yet. so i manually upgrade to ROM everymonth with russia region (MM). suprisingly samsung do apply 'android security update' every month for A series.
is ur device is locked by some carrier? AT-T /other? if not try flashing with Russia ROM. u can flash with odin. fear not, ur data & apps still intact. if u flash official fw with odin.
for ram usage, i think this is not a problem. the multitasking still flawless for 2GB of ram. the feature i like from this phone is the GPS. lock very fast. im glad buying this phone. the only downside for me is 'no notification led'

Note 4 will pause/stop every hour, tried everything?

Hello, I have had this issue for a long while now and because nothing I tried fixed it I sort of gave up but now I’m hoping I can find some more help because it is still annoying me.
Roughly every hour or so my phone will pause/stop what it is doing until I press play or carry on what I’m doing, It is hard to explain but it depends what I am doing on my phone. For example, if I am playing a youtube video it will pause until I press play again, same with music on playerpro, If I am typing it will minimize the keyboard until I bring it back up.
It is very similar to what happens when you have an update from the Playstore and it finishes installing, it will pause/stop what you are doing but like I say I am not updating and I have checked all that background stuff and it still happens every 45 mins/hour.
I am very good with phones and computers and keep my phone tip top, no bloat, heavy usage or neglect and it is reset every 6 months for optimum performance.
Things I have tried:
Updated to newest software and apps
Reset phone/factory reset
Erased Cache
Uninstalled apps one by one to see if one is responsible
Checked background managers/app power saving and smart manager
Looked through developer options to see any unusual options enabled
Literally tried about everything I can think of which is why I am at my wits end
I really hope I can get some help with this and let me know if you need any further information.
Thank you

Moto x force lags

Hello,
I have a stock Moto X force for about 20 months.
I've been suffering from lagging lately (sometimes it takes a few seconds when trying to switch between apps or the keyboard becomes unresponsive). I think it got worse after the 7.0 update.
I've downloaded an app for system monitoring and I've noticed that at times of lag the internal disk activity is maxed (Read & Write are 100% (not sure exactly what that means)) (Can't add attachments). But, cpu performance and ram usage seems fine. I assume some app is causing this but have no suspects at the moment. How should I continue my debug from here ?
Thanks
Hello Juvesss,
Exactly the same phone with the same problem since one week ago... If you solved it please explain me, this is a pain!
No OS upgrade was involved in my case, I have Nougat since a long ago.
Cache wipe did not help. Limiting background processes to 3 helped just a little (developer menu).

I've been noticing this problem too.
Not sure what the cause is.
I've factory reset and that seems to fix the problem for awhile, but it seems to come back over time.
Something in the stock rom must be cluttering the phone.
Dear roweboat56,
It happened to me after 12 months of having it, so for my experience it is not so frequent. How often happened it to you? (To understand better how long will I "enjoy" the factory reset solution...)
Move to a custom rom!
I faced that issue too! The last update was buggy maybe..and the moto services and rest apps by moto are eating a lot of ram and using a good amount of I/O
.
Try this rom by me (on the latest 7.1.2 build with 5th February 2018 security patch)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2/general/lineageos-14-1-build-7-1-2-heating-t3757565
Change battery profile to power save, and see the magic
No heating at all!

Hm I noticed after maybe 2 months of use or so?
Im on Latest Stock FW Android N ,using the device since 8months and not find any lag, in my case it lacks a bit when heated a lot.
I didnt disable any of the Moto Services though.
Try using Greenify if it solves the issue. I will not unlock my phone till it gets 14-15month old and see whether the same happens to me
It is strange... In my case the phenomenon suddenly disappeared some weeks ago, so I think some system update messed it all and later another update solved it. I have the impression it was a system problem and not a particular app, because I tried to uninstall the more suspicious apps without appreciating any change.

Android Pie Bugs

As promised by Nokia, all the Nokia 6.1 Plus users got the Android Pie Update at the end of October. I feel like the update was rushed and even though they had the Beta Labs for the Android Pie, it still consists of many bugs. Not sure if there are any other bugs other than the ones I'm listing but here are the major ones:
Battery drainage is comparatively more
The fast charging is not working. It takes 3 full hours for full charge. Also it no longer charges upto 50% in 30 minutes.
There are issues with the WiFi where it won't connect to any network until you restart the device.
Bluetooth switches on its own, randomly.
Fingerprint recognition is significantly slower.
The launcher (Quickstep) freezes or even crashes if you uninstall an app from the home screen. Also it freezes occasionally when you use the navigation to switch between apps.
Please list down other bugs that you've had, if any, down below. Also if anyone knows when is Nokia most likely to push an update for fixing these bugs, do let me know since the November security update already came without any fixes.
UPDATE:
Nokia pushed a new update last night. I'm hoping it contains fixes to the numerous bugs.
Frame rate drop on WhatsApp video calls . Don't see frame rate dropping on duo , Skype or any other app . Now I don't know who should be fixing this nokia / Google or whatsapp.
Fingerprints is not working in third party apps like AppLock.Casting is also not working. When I playing games touch is not working properly. So,these are the bugs after updating with pie.
Drainage of battery is also very fast..
Launcher3 crash when you don't have it as a default launcher and try to tap on recent apps. Scrolling left and right works, but as soon as you choose an app or try to click on Clear All, it crashes and takes you back to home screen.
For the battery drainage, with Adaptive Battery turned on, mine is almost equal to that on Oreo.
It does tell that it's fast charging, though it takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes charge fully, compared to 1 hour 30 minutes on Oreo.
Wi-Fi works fine for me, no issues.
I have my Bluetooth always turned on for my band, and it works just fine.
For Fingerprint Recognition, yeah, it feels slow. My Mi A1 is much faster at that.
I had some other issues with the device's lock screen acting super weird. I've set up Google's Face Unlock, and the built-in fingerprint, with a pattern. Sometimes it doesn't actually lock with power button press, and the lock sound comes much later. At that time, it would not unlock either with face or fingerprint, and even the pattern won't work. It occurs rarely, though.
I'm having some issues during calls, I don't know if it's hardware or software, but my mic doesn't work on calls sometimes. I have read on other forums that this is happening for many users of this phone.
Lock the phone and scan the fingerprint, repeat this continuously for 3-4 times. The phone gets hanged.
Also, sometimes, the screen starts flashing randomly and erroneously. Haven't been able to find out the exact reason for this.
Hi
Bro same are problems with my device.
But not with my friend's device
I want to ask whether it is the inbuilt problem of WiFi or software bugs?
I was so annoyed that I had planned to sell this phone .

Better request service centre to revert back to Oreo.....i visit there yesterday & successfully revert back to Oreo. Now my 6.1 plus is working flowless.
Bluetooth HD audio AAC doesn't seem to work, judging by the developer options.
Although admittedly, I've never used this on oreo and I know my headphones supports AAC because it worked with another device before.
Is it possible to revert back to Oreo?
When I'm on a call, and if a notification is received, the notification sound is of the battery charging sound. Very weird

You can using ost with bl unlocked
pie bugs
1. watsapp video call lags
2. battery draining too fast
3. phone slow down the performance when battery below 10%
4. phone lags usually
5.charging slowly
6. hiding notch not covering full notch
7. wifi issue
Pie Bugs for me:
--WIFI connecting but no internet. Restarting the device everytime is not a good solution. To make sure that WiFi works fine thereafter I do not toggle the WiFi OFF ever.
--"Ok Google" voice activation not working. Neither able to retrain my voice.
--Battery drain is atleast 10% higher over a period of 8 hours in idle mode.
--Fingerprint unlock has become extremely slow.
--Random freeze while trying to unlock using fingerprint scanner. The screen refuses to turn on even when power button is pressed. This happens for almost 5 to 10 minutes till finally the screen turns on.

Phone switches to vibra only move after reboot
Did not use the phone on oreo as as soon as i set it up it upgraded to pie. I am not facing any of the issues mentioned in this thread so far.

I ordered one phone for my wife and now I start regretting reading about all these problems after Pie update (the phone is not here yet). I was planning to stop updating it from Oreo, any way to do it or once it gets set and WIFI on it will start updating itself ? Interesting that in your case it works, do you think that they changed OTA so new updates gets a newer fixed version ?

Why Galaxy S5 gets slow gradually?

My Galaxy S5 was getting super slow. Often I had to wait 10 seconds or so that it reacts to my touches. I had the latest manufacturer rom installed.
I reinstalled Kitkat manufacturer rom and the device got as fast as original.
So my question is why the device got slow or how could measure what is causing these problems? I have noticed similar effect on other phones, when the same rom is installed for a long period of time.
Too much cache and datas. Try first of all wipe cache from recovery mode and do it once a week. If neither this will work, wipe data (factory restore) always from recovery mode and the phone comes responsive like new untill to much data and caches will slow it again. Don't install to many apps, even this slowers the phone. This happens even on KitKat.
You could also try to install an app called KernelTuner and see if the cpu is always on high load.
Is the battery draining fast or is the touch screen just unresponsive? But there are a lot of possibilities for this issue and if everything is falling apart you could switch to a custom Rom or buy a new phone.
I have the same problem with G900F which is SUPER SLOW after official Marshmallow 6.0.1 update. Stock Rom. It is the worst and slowest Android exprerince I've had so far. Is the solution installing custom Rom if there is any reliable and safe one?
Just install lineage os or debloated stock problem solved
There was/is an issue with the contacts db blowing up to gigantic size which had/has an impact on performance & stability.
My S5 was not affected, and i've been using 6.0. 1 for at least a year.
But today you can expect such behaviour on various occasions with a phone that has only 2GB of ram and a Snapdragon 801(which should still be competitive with the MediaTek SoCs in cheap phones, at least.).
E.g. my fav weather app WetterOnline becomes a resource hog sometimes on my S5 till the dreaded "app not responding" message, but not on my more powerful LG G6, and on other occasions the app runs super smooth again.
Something as basic and simple as a weather app should perform well on any device except the oldest or most basic ones.
My S5 became snappy after downgrading to Lollipop. Keep in mind it came with Marshmallow when I bought it brand new.
