I develop Android apps and together with an UI/UX collegue decided to design a launcher for head units.
It will have similar functions as the existing one plus some we will disclose very soon.
The major objective for this laucher is to emulate stock interfaces look and feel so each use can select their make/model of car and the launcher colors, fonts and UI components will match the cars cluster and stock infotainment UI.
If you are interested in part in this project please fill up the survey we will post in a few days.

I'm wondering if there's a launcher that allows me to easily add shortcuts to the launch screen.I'd like the customization that the Liquid Smooth ROM offers without having to flash a new ROM.
I may end up doing that anyway at this point since my new Nexus will be on the way soon, but I'd like to work everything out before it gets here so I can just get it all ready.
Nobody knows? I would like also to change them.

In first days of Galaxy S4 on the net, and also in first shoots and reviews, I see wonderful menus, settings, dialer and so on with WHITE background (similar to pmlgro work).
But in shops and markets I saw only the old dark menus of Jelly Bean.
What's the truth? I desperately want the white interior (as seen), but where are they? Or are they fake ?
Thx in advance!

dark is the default.
and WHITE background is really not good for the AMOLED screen.
So all the photos and videos are fake?

Does it matter? It will kill the battery. If you really want it you'll have to edit it yourself.

Looking at this YouTube video of the Quad vs Octa Core processors:

Around the 4 minutes mark, you can see the white dialer on the Sprint variant S4. Maybe it's only included on certain US roms?

^ This. It was changed to be ugly for US Carriers.
So not a fake but only certain version. But in video i only see white dialer, other menu seems dark.
Maybe interesting locate the firmware with white setting, open it and extract framework and all other apk needed to do a white variant.........

Well If you can find the Sprint firmware, then you'll have your white things... but i'm not sure how hard it'd be to implement them into an international rom.

If i will find the pngs, will be a great help!! i will only substitute in original framework.
For now, going to search the Sprint Version...... then i will think on how to do!
anything new here?
Hello. Is it possible for any dev to make some changes in the S view window. I think many things can be added or removed from current options. For example I would love to have the option of dialing a contact directly from that window, the action memo is just limited to saving a number and not doing other actions, adding video player or any other related app which can be useful. Will be happy if someone work on this.
++++1

+1 and a million. I hate how limited the S-View window is.
there's a few posts on this in the Q&A forum as well... would be nice to see, i thin a few people have talked about an Xposed module for it but nothing's come up yet sadly...
there is an exposed module for the s-window on the s4 (for adding other music player other then stock) and it works well.
i hope something will come on the note3 too.
Yeah. If walking mate from s health can jump in automatically then other things can happen too. Common devs, work on this

I am also looking for such modifications / themes in S view to add custom app etc.
But i doesnot want to root till waranty period is over...
so still no one as managed to enable multi dpi for the s-view... thats all I'm after if I'm honest. Clearly it can be done as X_Note roms work fine in different dpi's. In the end I've managed to get it working by pulling the framework.apk from x-note and placing it on my favorite rom. Even then I've had a few theme issues which took time to overcome. I'd be interested in knowing xml file controls the window size, all the ones with the word "sview" in them dont seem to do the trick on there own. Come on guys someone must know how to do this.... please !
I had Z1 prior to Z3 and performance degraded overtime, not because the number of apps because that hasn't changed, but after multiple software updates. I haven't had any updates on my TMO Z3 yet, but I already feel like it's getting slower, even though I am not running any heavy apps on it. It just feels sluggish when doing basic things like launching standard Phone or Sms apps. Oh, and I am not running Stamina mode either.
What launcher are you using, if any?

None, just stock
EDIT: As a comparison I used friends iPhone 6 and compared the speed of launching Phone app and Z3 is slower by about 0.3 second which doesn't sound much, but it feels sluggish.
that's typical for android
If my old Nexus 5 is anything to go by, performance will improve once 5.0 hits. Specifically the ART runtime.
Mine seems fine with Nova launcher as well as removing any unnecessary animations.
The latest stock launcher is slower than the one with smaller icons. I have tested both in my Z1C
My Z3 fells very fast even after months of use including system update and a lot of apps install/updates. Performance is top notch here.

I have the android version and when I switch to an alternate launcher like Pixel Launcher or Nova the keyboard shortcuts for things like the app drawer always take me back to Lenovo Launcher.
Can these be modified at all? Thanks.

I don't think so. It's a very specific device, and the keyboard relation with the launcher is very close. Don't believe it's a device proper to be very personalized. It gives you a very unique experience, but it has it reverse side. You love it or hate it. But you can't change many things.
It's my first Android device that I've not deeply modified and not even rooted! And that's a lot to say.
I personally love it (not in everything, but mostly). It results to fit my necessities very accurately. But I had to accept that it is what it is and how it is.
