In first days of Galaxy S4 on the net, and also in first shoots and reviews, I see wonderful menus, settings, dialer and so on with WHITE background (similar to pmlgro work).
But in shops and markets I saw only the old dark menus of Jelly Bean.
What's the truth? I desperately want the white interior (as seen), but where are they? Or are they fake ?
Thx in advance!

dark is the default.
and WHITE background is really not good for the AMOLED screen.
So all the photos and videos are fake?

Does it matter? It will kill the battery. If you really want it you'll have to edit it yourself.

Looking at this YouTube video of the Quad vs Octa Core processors:

Around the 4 minutes mark, you can see the white dialer on the Sprint variant S4. Maybe it's only included on certain US roms?

^ This. It was changed to be ugly for US Carriers.
So not a fake but only certain version. But in video i only see white dialer, other menu seems dark.
Maybe interesting locate the firmware with white setting, open it and extract framework and all other apk needed to do a white variant.........

Well If you can find the Sprint firmware, then you'll have your white things... but i'm not sure how hard it'd be to implement them into an international rom.

I've got used for black/dark background in several years.
But in reviews of SGS4 i see that many apps/settings have white background. I just wonder if there is kind of theme switch in SGS4 to get already convenient black background or now we are stuck to white now?

The switch is called ROOT and Custom Rom.
I'm wondering the same thing. Given that the S4 sticks with Super AMOLED, this seems like a poor decision -- this white theme. Unless, of course, there's some sort of theming taking place, which I doubt else it would've been taken note of during launch. Although they can still change things from now until April 25...
I really hope we can change this white without custom ROM.

where can we get those custom ROMs? Thanks a lot.

You would have to edit every apk for each app you want to change and make them use the device.default theme / halo theme instead of the device.default.light / halo.light

It is because the black/dark theme was the biggest **** ever. Amoleds aren't the brightest and gray text on black background ...... Seriously??? The inbox was virtually unreadable. While emails were unread they had white text on black background and that was OK. Once read they were some tone of gray on black background. In the car and outside it was impossible to make out anything. I had a shortcut on my home screen to enable the accessibility /negative colours specifically so I could read my inbox when it was it too bright where I was.
Admittedly they should just give you the option for me the bright theme is a very welcome change.

I believe what you are talking about is on only on the US variants. I have a i9500 and all the menus are black just like the GS3/Note 2.

how do you know they're not comparing their early unit with the latest octa?
look it up on GSMArena, they had one of those early units with the white background, and then when they got the final one with the black backgrounds they did their tests and reviewed their review of the early unit. I still am pretty sure the latest firmwares do not have white backgrounds. look at the XDA post your battery results thread for example, all black.
I don't know why you're being so rude. do YOU have a store bought S4 with a white background?

We already have that, with a different appearance, but multitasking manager is present since android 4.0...
Unuseful idea in my opinion

Android already have this. Only difference is layout. This video = horizontal, ours = vertical.
Might be possible to theme it, which would be cool. I'd like to be able to customize that screen.

i know android have this but this one looks way better and more effective.
u can actually see a great preview of the app that's running and better use for the screen size.
think about it, u could add an option for a round display like turning a wheel of apps.

Even so, this is almost identical to Sense 4 on the HTC One.
Alright, I know that the camera for the s4 is really nice, BUT, there are some features that really dont work the way that they should and the number of times that they can be used in real life situations are very limited. The eraser option has to be activated to be able to use it. it's not really practical because you would not really expect anyone to just jump in to your pictures all the time, and most of us just use the auto mode.
Anyways, to get to the point, one of the features that I liked from the s3 camera features was the color filter options which i did not find in the s4's large array of camera features.
I was wondering if I am just missing on something or it really isn't there. I love this feature because it adds a level of creativity to some of my shots.

i know that, The one im looking for is the red-yellow, blue, green filter that is present in the s3. It is the option where everything is b&w and the only colors you see are the ones you chose, namely, red-yellow, blue or green colors only. I ll post a screenshot of my s3 when its charged up.
Yeah I'm not familiar with that one, sorry. Never had an S3.

Hello. Is it possible for any dev to make some changes in the S view window. I think many things can be added or removed from current options. For example I would love to have the option of dialing a contact directly from that window, the action memo is just limited to saving a number and not doing other actions, adding video player or any other related app which can be useful. Will be happy if someone work on this.

+1 and a million. I hate how limited the S-View window is.
there's a few posts on this in the Q&A forum as well... would be nice to see, i thin a few people have talked about an Xposed module for it but nothing's come up yet sadly...
there is an exposed module for the s-window on the s4 (for adding other music player other then stock) and it works well.
i hope something will come on the note3 too.
Yeah. If walking mate from s health can jump in automatically then other things can happen too. Common devs, work on this

I am also looking for such modifications / themes in S view to add custom app etc.
But i doesnot want to root till waranty period is over...
so still no one as managed to enable multi dpi for the s-view... thats all I'm after if I'm honest. Clearly it can be done as X_Note roms work fine in different dpi's. In the end I've managed to get it working by pulling the framework.apk from x-note and placing it on my favorite rom. Even then I've had a few theme issues which took time to overcome. I'd be interested in knowing xml file controls the window size, all the ones with the word "sview" in them dont seem to do the trick on there own. Come on guys someone must know how to do this.... please !

Which theme, basic blue or color? The framework apk's still need theming. So far I have only changed some values in the colors.xml from green to blue and the checkboxes. My biggest problem is a reliable WiFi. I am on a shared WiFi with download speed of 7 to 12mb download. But if 4 or 5 are on at the same time it gets really bad. The number doesn't sound like a lot but those are the pc's I can see. That is not counting phones and tablets I can not.

I say blue but hey whatever color you want. I'm just used to Nega's work being blue. But if you like another color, whatever. I'll rock any color theme as long as it looks good. My Note 3 is on Priest Punch ROM n and it's themed in neon pink and green.

Well after checking the number of downloads of basic blue vs color. The basic is 4 to 1 over the color. Guess most like the stock look. How about some feedback from those downloading. ???? stay with the stock images and just shift more images to blue. Tell me what u think!!!!!!!
Sorry no pink and green to be found here ever.

Haha well, I'm not picky. I just like things to be cohesive. Same color(s) throighout, same styling, etc. If it's sharp, consistent and cohesive, I'll use it. I also like a lot of inverted and transparent apps.

Biased to Blue, but color is growing on me. Must be my mono green/amber CRT memories that likes the simplicity. Keep up great work!

Thanks for the input guys. The Basic Blue theme is just about all I plan on doing to it. I am working on the color but it's taking a while. The wife and I are taking a break for the next 3 days. Should have the framework-res.apk done by next Friday. Hang in there it's almost soup~
