Guys, I live in India(Pune) and my phone warranty is going to end on the 12th of this month. I am having some issues with the volume buttons (need to really press hard for feedback). I want to ask if I give my phone for service right now will they repair it for free or will they charge me? And if anyone has done any repairs in Pune then which service centre is good enough.
I'm not sure about your country but if the issue isn't caused by you, they should be able to fix it for free

Even if you go on 11 you'll be given warranty, but don't delay and get it fixed.

I got my 8525 in January and upgraded the rom in May. The last few days peeps have said they can't hear me and some weird stuff starts happening on the screen ie the bar just starts going up and down and the ie comes up.... I called support and they are sending me a replacement under warranty which is great BUT they made a big deal about if THEY decided it was dropped or liquid was involved I would be charged 500 bucks. I said fine because I know I have only had normal wear and tear...but now I started wondering what if they just say you broke it???? They already said I couldn't get it back so my queation is has anybody found them to screw you or???
d
No personal experience with warranty service, but if you've upgraded it to WM6 I'd advise against sending it in with that, otherwise you will be $500 lighter.
Nope only have the official Rom.....

I have had warranty replacement - same stern warnings as you. No problem. If you look under the sim card, there is probably a little white square in there - very small. It should be white. That is mostly how they determine if there is water damage. If it is white, you should not have anything to worry about - if it is pink/purple, you will probably get charged.
I've dealt with ATT/Cingular on a few occasions with my 8525 and 8125. I've never had a single issue with them charging me for the replacement.
How it usually goes is that I'll tell them upfront, and clearly, what the issue is. I'll describe in detail what I've done to fix it, i.e. hard resets, etc.
As long as you know what you're talking about and let them know that you're very proficient with the device, I think they realize there's nothing more they can do for you and accept the return in the condition you state it's in. The people you talk to aren't engineers after all, they work in a call center. No offense meant, but they're mostly scripted in what knowledge they have of the device. h

I believe you are correct as my call was very short. I told them right off the bat I had hard reset, soft reset, and they agreed to replace. I just started wondering if some yo yo would get it and just for kicks bill me the 500 and than how could I prove anything?? Thanks

Thanks to all for the information, I'll need to arrange a warranty replacement for my 8525, I have an unresponsive screen.
One question, What do they ask you in the phone call? I mean, number of receipt, date of purchase, acc number or what?
I bought my device from a friend but right now I live en NY and he lives in NJ so If he has to talk with att about the warranty I'll have to ship the phone to him, so he can ship the defective phone back to att.
Right now the 8525 appears as my device in the info online and I was wondering if I can do something from here or my friend has to talk to them directly.
Thanks again for the info and thanks in advance for any input.
No, you won't have to involve your friend. As long as you have AT&T service, you can get it replaced. It doesn't matter when or where you got the phone since it was JUST released this last November and it has a 1 year warranty.
Hope that helps.

Hi
I'm currently working for cingular warranty exchange (now ATT wireless)
And yes you can send the phone to warranty exchange and not be charged as long as there is no physical/liquid damage. However, with data devices, they have a clause where in they reserve the right to charge you if they see that the problem was caused by a third party software loaded into your system. This RARELY happens though. You can play it safe by saying you never downloaded anything and you only download from the cingular site if all else fails.

I don't know about USA, I had my TyTN sent to HTC repair center in UK and they asked me to sent them the original package with all accesories included.
They repaired it and sent me back my device (they did'nt replace it) in the same package.
Cheers
i have been waiting for like 2 weeks i broke my camera for my phone by cam to phone FW write and then i sent it off to a shop in the uk i live there the shop is called dkavs looked at all reviews all positive i called them like last 2 weeks Saturday and they said they couldn't fix it so they sent it to a company called sbe or seb forgot and that company hasn't sent my phone back so im getting impatient and also would like to ask wat would happen to my phone if they cant fix it ?
on what firmware you did that?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
If they cannot fix it .
Depends one on your warranty and age of the product .
Two on whether or not these shops are official Samsung repair centres . If they are not then you have broken your warranty and Samsung can decline to get involved or repairs are chargeable .
A firmware factory reset may have cured the problem and is still worth a try if the phone is not repaired .
jje
You should ask the company what they will do yourself, NOT XDA. 2 weeks isn't that long anyway, especially if you didn't pay some kind of priority fee. If you think they are taking too long, speak to them DIRECTLY. But imho, you shouldn't be using XDA as a means of trying to extort companies into prioritising you (that's what it sounds like) ..
If you needed your phone that urgently, you wouldn't be messing with firmware anyway..
Hello all!
On my note 3 I've been having a weird issue that I am not sure how to resolve.
When I make a phone call, the screen immediately turns off. In order to turn it back on I have to press the power button, but then to turn the screen back off I have to hit the power button again. Is this a faulty unit, or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks

I'd exchange it while you have the chance, but when you get the new one, test it thoroughly for the first few days. Some people are exchanging their Note 3 several times before finally getting a good one.

Ya that's what I ended up doing. I downloaded Android Sensors Box and it showed nothing, tried factory resets and nothing.
I also suffered the same problem from day 1 on my N900 note3..
OK, this is a manufacturing fault and there are several people discussing it on an Android Central Forum (http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...ote3-proximity-sensor-issue-during-calls.html).
I have had the same issue along with quite a few others who posted.
After trying resets and even replacement units, it has come to light that it is dust that collects under the the screen and on top of the proximity sensor. Blowing the earpiece seems to solve the issue temporarily (this worked for me also), but I would advise everyone to start contacting Samsung about this issue, as the people that received replacement units still experienced the issue within days on their new units.
Will post the reply from Samsung on this forum when I hear back from them, but make sure you guys contact technical support too.
OK, this is the reply I got from Samsung:
"Thank you for contacting Samsung.
I am sorry to hear of the issue you are experiencing with your Galaxy
Note 3. I understand how frustrating this can be as the device cost a
lot of money.
Please be advised this is not a known issue to Samsung. If you feel
there is an issue with the device you can get it assessed at one of our
service centres and get the issue resolved.
We have walk-in service centres all over the country that can give
assistance and perform minor repairs while you wait. Just bring your
device, with the proof of purchase to confirm your warranty, and one of
our qualified technicians will be happy to help. Please note we advise
backing up any important files on your device due to possible removal
during repair.
We recommend calling the walk-in centre before making any travel plans
to ensure a more convenient service. If you would like to check for
service centres by postcode, please click on the link below and choose
‘Mobile Phones’ from the drop down menu:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/location/supportServiceLocation.do?pag
e=SERVICE.LOCATION
Please note if your device is out of warranty, or if any defect found is
not covered by the terms of our warranty, there may be a charge for any
service or repairs carried out.
If this is inconvenient for you, please provide the following
information so we can get your device booked in for repair and get a j
iffy bag sent out to you:
1) IMEI number (also located underneath the battery)
2) Your current network provider
3) A brief description of the issue
You should receive the pre-paid jiffy bag from the service centre within
3-5 working days of the service request being created.
Once we have this information we can proceed with the service request
and provide you with further instructions.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and
we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,

Hi mates,
I have a 32gb elife e7 which is hardly 2 months old.
Today when i was on a call, suddenly the person on the other side couldnt hear me.
from there after the speaker and the mic didnt work at all.
I tried hard reset. no help.
After few hours.. Now the speaker seems to be working for 10 seconds or so and then starts distorts like hell.
if the ringer volume is set more than 50% the distort is 100% guaranteed.
if i reduce the volume it seems to be working for a few seconds and then again starts distorting.
I asked the service center guy, he told me the mobile will be sent to Bangalore and will take a minimum of ten days to repair.
Did anyone face the same problem ?
i am confused now. I trusted and bought this mobile for 30K but back fired.
anyone ?

They said it will take a minimum of 10 days since they got to send it to bangalore..
then whats the point of saying we have service centres all over India.
the chennai customer service centres are not gionee exclusive.. they have "Lava care" "Gionee care" boards installed.
And i dont think they have the facility to fix any issue there itself

I am in bangalore so got in 3 days. Give a try. They may need 10 days. Gionee doesn't have separate customer service center. They gave contract with 3rd party where sony ericsson, lava and other phones are also serviced. Gud luck.

Det var dumt og godt.
Ok I would have taken it to a local store.
In Copenhagen they have lots of mobile shops doing it for around less then 500 kroner.
I live in UK and here I would buy a button from amazon or ebay then pay 30 pounds to shop for fixing it.
You where lucky they did it for free. It could have been worse making you pay for the shipping costs without fixing.
