So the problem is this: my S7 edge just stuck and started to restart on its own several times. Now it stopped restarting but is turned off and won't turn on. I was googling but found nothing helpful. Also, my laptop doesn't recognize the device when connected. Please help.

does it feel farm? if yes, you need to wait for it to drain .about a day or two if it went off fully charged, if the device doesnt feel warm at all, i'll tell you what to do later once I wake up

anyone experiencing this with your phones?
most of the time when i put my phone in my pocket, it just shuts down and i have to boot it back up.
happens like 10/15 times a day.
I have experienced some reboots (not so many like your shut downs), when some applications try to interact with the marketplace.
Your shutdowns, might have to do with a battery issue... Did you try any useful diagnostic test inside the MFG tools?
I've got them also....
Mostly when I've got the phone in my pocket, off course I don't see it shutdown. When i switch it on it doesn't simply resume, it boots. I guess it has something to do with too much force on a particular spot.
I've had it shutdown a few times when viewing pictures. Possibly a totally different issue, but nevertheless.
I have no solution (apart from keeping it less in my pocket).
Greetz,
Ronald
Happens sometimes for me. Maybe once a day or less.
me too. I think once a week or max 2 times a week.

i dont believe its a battery issue, because if its on a table then its fine and is turned on without any problems.
i guess the optimus 7 is not pocket friendly...
oddly i never had this issue back in nodo.
yep my op7 used to randomly shutdown more than 3 times per day after i flashed OPN rom this problem seem less.

I second this.....
I think it maybe has something to do with the option to switch on the phone when the camera-button is pressend. This button gets pressed very easy when you put your phone in your pocket....
Can this option be turned off?? The camera is able to switch on, even when the lockscreen is active.....
Grr,
Ronald

This option can be switched off.
I switched it off and will try if it helps.....
been shutting off like crazy today.
one point it didnt even boot until i removed the battery.
i really think the OP7 is not that great of a phone anymore.
Small update;
I haven't had a shutdown since I switched off the option to turn on the phone upon press off the camera button. I've done my best (put it in my pocket a lot etc). But couldn't manage it...
I would like to switch off the windows button also, but this isn't possible with simple settings...
Grr,
Ronald
Happens sometimes when I use 4th & Mayor.
i had this problem to, it would just shut down sometimes when it was in my pocket and sometimes just when i was using it. Usally after it had shut down on me my battery % went also bizar. This seems to be fixed with doing a normal reboot.
i m on the stock rom and did not rooted my phone.
For me the solution was to format my sd card.
Did this sunday and havent had a shut down now for two days.
if it comes back ill report it.
I am running for 6 and a half days without a reboot..... Still going strong....

tried it, but still restarts on me... :\
edit:
so i found how it restarts (at least i think).
if i hold the power button for a long time it will restart...
no need to even slide down to power off...
what's the point in slide down to power off if u can still turn it off by holding the power button...
Got an optimus 7 yesterday, had 3 restarts last night, I think its a Mango problem.
Small renewed update;
Shortly after my previous update the phone crashed (I was WIFI tethering, playing radio and then connected the USB cable so Zune started - this seems to much ).
Since this reboot I had some shutdowns again (2 I believe). All of these reboots after carrying the phone in my pocket and then sitting down (putting more mechanical force on the force).
I still think that the functions to switch on the phone upon pressing the 'windows' button and the camera button have something to do with the problem. I have switched off the camera button (in the camera settings), but when the windows button gets pressed and then (in the lockscreen) the camera button is pressed the phone still switches on in camera function.
Does anybody have a clue if it's possible to turn off these buttons for switching on the phone? These functions were introduced with the Mango update, as is the problem we're talking about.

Agreed.... Seems like stupidity....
I've read in some app comments that there are some applications that interfere with the phone going to sleep or with the wake up.
I've no reboot problem in this moment, I've seen two or three reboot since i bought it...
But can it be some app installed?

Same problem here. Had multiple restarts at random. Flashed my phone a few times, but it didn't help since I was installing 4th and Mayor every time. Then I flashed it again and didn't install 4th and Mayor. Seems stable now. <Fingers crossed>
Hey guys, that's an issue with your phones. I had that, sent it back to LG to get it fixed.

Does it completely fix the problem? How long ago did you send it to LG and did not experience the problem even once?
Does anybody know if this happens with other phone models? (Maybe it's a OS bug).

Is this an software or an hardware problem?

I have the exact same problems.
It has existed ever since I got my phone, and I thought it was normal. Last night, the touchkeys stopped working completely.
Before I went to bed, I popped the battery and then turned the phone back on. To my delight, the touchkey buttons worked amazingly after it booted up. I was happy and went to bed.
When I woke up this morning, I tried the buttons again and they had gone back to being unresponsive. I popped the battery again but this time it didn't do anything different, the touchkeys were still unresponsive.
I am thinking about returning it to the store.
Thanks for your Reply!
I´ve already contacted samsung if there is a known problem. But they just say that i must reset the phone and shouldn't install any apps from the app store. They think its a problem with a app..... i dont think so but i will give it a try...

I am gonna try restoring the phone to factory defaults and see if that works. I'll keep you posted.
---------- Post added at 02:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:42 PM ----------
Ok, I tried the factory reset and it did not fix the problem. The touch key buttons are still randomly working and then randomly not working.
At least my device is now ready to go back to the store.
Ok, so I returned the device, got a new one and the buttons work properly now. Woo hoo!
The previous unit was defective.
I have a Galaxy S4 on MDL which was working perfectly fine until yesterday. Then I decided to update my apps, I updated all my apps (about 72 needed to be updated) and after that was finished I was using the device just fine for a few hours.. then a few hours later it crashed on its own while I was doing a random task like opening a program or trying to pull down my notifications and it restarted. It did this about 3 times in a span of 45 min. The third time it crashed it stopped booting up past the samsung galaxy logo. I pulled my battery out and put it back in but without me pressing the power button the device turns on flashes the Samsung Galaxy 4 logo and goes back to a blank screen. I tried holding down volume buttons to go into recovery or download mode but the device only stays on for 2 sec and goes blank again. Please help…

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? The same thing just happened to me, and I can't find a solution! Please help...

Well I fixed my phone. Turns out the power button was stuck. Repeatedly jammed the power button for awhile with the battery out then tried to start it up and it worked fine.
So I updated the software this afternoon. Now when I say OK Google the screen doesnt wake up to listen to me, it goes to the pin screen and I have to swipe it to use my voice.
Anyone else seeing that issue?? What's a fix??
Try rebooting.
It happens sometimes.
It happened on the Pixel XL once in a while too.

Did a factory reset and its still not working 100%. Probably 3 outta 10 times.
I m getting a ton of random freezes after the recent update too that I never had before.
I'm also having this ok Google issue. Just made a post about it as didn't see this one. Maybe an admin can merge them?

My ok Google is working again, after fixing the smart Lock problem and rebooting the phone. Must just be another bug
So for some reason my oneplus has just stared to soft reboot. The problem is that it doesn't want to boot again... It just shows the spinning white balls. It's the second time today it has happened and the first day since i updated it on the 1st of november. Any idea what to do or how to fix it? I can hard reboot it by holding down the power button and top volume key and the phone reboots fine. All I want to know is if there's a fix. Also is anyone else having this issue?
I rolled back to Android 9 until things like this get fixed, I recommend backing up your data and rolling back until OnePlus makes Android 10 more stable.

I'm having this issue, too.
I really regret "upgrading"
I've had this happen a few times since I upgraded. The first two times were within an hour of each other, but rebooting into recovery and charge cache now seems to prevent it happening... just one time in the last week. I'm on a converted T-Mobile. I wonder if it's just that model that's affected. hopefully the problem will go away after the next update. but since it only seems to affect me infrequently it doesn't seem s big problem at the moment.
Maybe this guide that I just made will help you guys out https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/reboot-to-bootloader-flashing-rom-fix-t4006259
I found holding the power button and volume up at the same time for about 10-15 seconds stops the spinning and turns the device off. Turning the device on normally after works with no problem.
Happened me too,was stuck in a loop of doing this for 20 mins or so before I realized it wasn't gonna stop, holding the buttons trick worked to switch off the device,
Have hard reset and hasn't happened this week,
Waiting eagerly on next update
Same here. Usually happens when using Whatsapp Instagram. WTF is Oneplus doing. Such Huge bug. Tried clearing cache as suggested still having problem.
Gang, Android 10 us loaded with bugs and unstable and personally, for me, not "good enough" for daily use.
I would hold onto Pie until Android 10's issues get worked out.
Back up ALL of your stuff, people and go back to 9. I used msm tool 9.0.11 to clean off everything and started from scratch. Download 9

New Stable a10 build coming next week,I'm holding on for that though if you can't wait for it and you can ,stay on Pie
I got same issue today too. Are you all using stock OOS 10 or do you have also TWRP/Magisk as well?
It's a know bug and will be fixed in the next update (They have marked it as fixed in the changelog of the last beta of Hydrogen OS).
