Has anyone else happened to have any luck getting something like this to work with their 6t?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F8STVNY/ref=od_aui_detailpages01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have an issue where I can only either plug in the headphones or the charger into the ports. Otherwise the audio stops routing through the headphone port and back to the speakers. As soon as I unplug the charger, the headphones work again -_-

Another update, these cables seem to charge the phone super super slow which freakin sucks -_-. It seems to be enough to keep the phone from draining too much, but certainly no where even close to quick charge. Someone needs to make something specifically for the 6t!

I do, it doesn't work on my 6t. This is really frustrating since I'd like to talk to my gf and charge my phone in the middle of the night but I can only do one or the other, I also bought the cable you linked and it doesn't even charge my phone, just says "plugged in, can't charge right now." If you ever find one that works well please let me know. Thanks ! :good:

If you go to the US, rather than the Canadian, Amazon site and search for "HiMusic-Earphone-Converter-Charging-Compatible", you'll find the same product. On that page, in the Have A Question box enter "OnePlus". Five people, including the seller, report that this product is not compatible with the 6T.

Yeah seems to be the case. Reading the Q&A the seller seemed to address this and says this one works with the 6T https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C9RD66G
Comments seem to say only pass through works but seller has specific image that states its fine if you plug USB power in first.

Well its half of what google is charging for their dock (obviously). I have read a ton of reviews on both devices and you can't go wrong with either one. One pro is that it has a much bigger lip to hold your phone in. One con is that you can't hook it up to a speaker system like the google one can, at least thats what i've been told. I'm ordering the google dock later this week but if I was in your situation, i'd probably go with the one on ebay. I hope this helps.

quit buying cheap cables, and spend the money on a Samsung USB-C cord. problem solved.
My phone doesn't even get all that warm while charging. I used 3rd party wireless chargers, and either Samsung or good quality cables. Always use the Samsung AC bricks, or a certified Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 one. I wonder if this is either user fault or certain models. I'd blame poor quality 3rd party batteries, but we can't get access to the battery (that i know of).

I picked up a few extra cables from Samsung with the 30% off promo code they sent me.
Cost me about $9 per cable after the discount.
Other then the actual Samsung charger and cable a couple of times, we nightly charge with a Tylt Vu and once with a micro usb cable with the little adapter they included in the box. Didn't notice any excessive heating in any situation. Hopefully it stays that way.
All the reports I've read on this are pointing to the same issue that the iPhone was having, aftermarket USB-C cables

Actually Samsung has admitted that the issue is with a small percentage of the batteries. It may be a bit more than that. Looks like an actual recall is coming. We may all be getting a second run of the device. Seems Samsung is going to make an official announcement Friday or over the weekend and is working out the details with the Cell providers to make the exchange process easier. Time to make a backup and get ready for a new phone.

I thought it was just the Korean market/devices?
If it's all of them, that sucks. I don't have recovery haha.
From what I read in a few different articles it was less then 1% of sold n7 in the Korean market. Maybe they will recall globally just for safety concerns across the board?
If the recall does truly take place that blows, that means a new phone with a possible whole new set of potential issues like dead pixels and speaker issues. It especially sucks if the unit you got in the first place has none of the above potential issues. Hopefully they can nail down the model or serial of units that have the bad battery and exclude most of us from recall. I dont see how the recall process could be convenient by any means and a lot of people will probably have to go without a phone for a bit if they don't have a backup

I just ordered the 6P as I will move from my shamu to angler.
Any problems/bugs that could occur out-of-the-boy which I should be aware of?
Thanks !
Please don't take this the wrong way but scrolling down the very forum category you asked this question in has a dozen different threads about the same problem. We all seem to have different ideas of what causes the BLOD but regardless that is front and center on the list. I personally choose to stay with 6.0.1 after getting my phone replaced.

Ye I am aware of the batter issue.. although I am not sure if I can "protect" myself against it (e.g. checking build date in fastboot or so).
Anything else that I should look out for ?
Just take note of the few trips along the way. There was a version of TWRP that had problems restoring EPS. Some folks are having issues with dec updates of a few roms. Mostly just read each Rom thread and look for the common problems. It's a pretty solid community actually.

Both our 6P's have been flawless. Unlock the bootloader first thing and keep it unlocked permanently, update to the latest firmware and enjoy your new phone.
Do not go cheap on chargers/cables. When you buy something, make sure it is certified compliant with the USB-C standard. See the Accessories sub-forum and Benson Leung for more info.

You can't go wrong with Choetech brand chargers and cables. To avoid problems, buy a charger that has at least one USB-C port rated at 5V/3A like the one that comes with the 6P and use a USB-C to USB-C cable for charging. Just search on Amazon for "Choetech USB-C". My advice is just to stay away from using any charging cable with USB-A. Same goes for your car charger. Good luck.

He shouldn't unlock right away because:
1. He'll lose Android pay, access to a number of banking apps, and other apps that use safetynet, assuming that he uses those. Especially WHEN, not if, safetynet patches magisk.
2. Run the phone for a week or two before he starts modding, if he does, so he can see what's NORMAL so that he can see what's ABNORMAL.
3. Why unlock it ASAP when you get no benefit on stock, with the loss of functionality talked about in #1.

Hi XDA,
OP5 has recently started having this issue. Was wondering if any of you have had or fixed it.
When plugging in my USB cord, the phone behaves as if it is being rapidly plugged in and out, like 2-4x per second. As a result, I cannot get to the phone via adb or fastboot. The phone also seems to have the issue regardless of kernel installed. However, I have not tried with an older OOS version.
Any ideas?
That seems more like a hardware issue.

This is what I am thinking. Its weird b.c it can be sporadic.
Trying to get an advance replacement from OP b.c I cant go w.o a phone for weeks while this one is diagnosed/repaired. Anyone have luck getting an adv replacement from them?
Does your phone charge normally or do you see odd behavior there as well?
^^ it jumps on/off charge rapidly... complete w vibrating.
I managed to use a toothpick to scrape the top/bottom of the usb port contacts... seems to have improved, however, I am wary since sometimes it stops happening for a few hours/days.
The phone actually does charge, the biggest issue is annoyance of the constant vibrating/screen light up & the complete lack of ability to adb or transfer files via usb when it happens.

You might want to try cleaning the port using a can of condensed air--but you need to be careful to use very short bursts at an angle, not straight in and also not to spray any condensation into the port. It sounds like your port is either dirty or loose. I've never heard of an Android USB port getting dirty enough to affect functioning when the phone is so new but if the toothpick helped maybe that's the problem. I am wary of the USB port on this phone. It doesn't feel very solid to me compared to previous phoned I've owned. The headphone port isn't good either. It takes very little movement for a headphone plug to pop out.

Condensed air is a good idea.
Yes I am worried the solder has started coming loose on the port. Although, if that were the case, pressure would presumably cause the issue to go away, which it does not.
I am hoping it might have been a tiny piece of metal or something that got in there and was causing issues. So far so good this morning when plugging the phone in. Still working the replacement route with OP, but at least it seems to be holding for now.
Ill try to keep this thread updated with results.
Report Back.
The direction I insert my USB C cable seems to have issues with one direction vs the other.... seems to make me think something is screwed up with teh contatcs within the phone.

That's possible but I think trying to clean the port with condensed air is still worth a try. I don't like the way the USB connection feels when a cord is inserted or removed from the OP5 so it wouldn't surprise me if a contact did go wonky. Keep us updated. This is a problem other owners may eventually encounter as well.

Yep, tried after that post with condensed air too... gave it a spray 3x for about 1-2 secs each time. Still only working one direction with the USB-C.
I am confident its a hardware issue at this point. Im waiting to hear back from OnePlus on approval for an advance replacement. Phone is not even 2 months old

Any ideas?

That sucks. Are there any authorized service centers for OnePlus phones or is the only option sending the phone in? I tried to find out before buying the OP5 but nobody seemed to know.

Dude, dont buy a OP... only option is to send it in. Being told they denied my request for an advance replacement. Its a 1.5mo old phone. & I have to be without it for weeks while you (oneplus) fix. Um, no.

I have one with them. Problem is, they are asking me to go without a phone for over 2 weeks. I am in sales and make my living on having my phone with me at all times.

Won't they send you a loaned phone? What country are you from? In the UK you'd have rights against this.

Had a quick law and it looks like consumers rights are rubbish in the US! I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

All good. Our rights suck with stuff like this.
Anyway. Hope this thread is helpful to prospective buyers. Shame, because this phone is pretty sweet otherwise.

I have a backup phone so that wouldn't be a disaster for me but I can understand how it could be a huge inconvenience for many people. It's too bad they don't contract out with one of the phone repair chains. That would make things much easier for owners.
