USB Access to Phone Contents when Locked - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

So yesterday a bunch of photos disappeared off my phone randomly and now when I connect the phone via USB to my computer I have access to the phone's contents even when the phone is locked (pattern lock).
EDIT:
This seems to have corrected itself...the phone contents is not visible now when locked but my pictures are still gone...

[Q] lost usb! help! royal ginger 1.6, can't transfer file

All of a sudden, I can't slide the notifications bar down to turn on usb storage so i can drag files from ny pc to my phone
(in other words, i can slide it, it's just that the usb icon is gone from there - i can use it to get the choice to transfer files from the computer or not)
is there a setting on the phone where this can be turned off and on? (my daughter was playing with it)?
help!
edit: i can see the green LED light on the phone saying that it's charging, and i've used 2 different cables to be sure, and i've uninstalled and reinstalled the HTC drivers.exe, and rebooted the pc and the phone each twice, but still i can get access to the phone via windows explorer as a removable drive, so i can transfer files.

Help my sceeen is shattered and i need files off my phone

I have the lg g2 it still works when I get calls and texts but I can't unlock my phone to get file access when plugging it through USB to the computer I have important files I need any help would literally save my life.
What sort of screen lock are you using and how damaged is the digitizer ie is it all dead or can you still use some of the screen to interact?
You may need to buy USB to go plug insert USB mouse into it then into LG g2 and get in there unlock phone insert USB computer cable and then transfer files to computer and then be rid of it.
You can also use some of the suggestions mentioned here.
Good luck
Also do you plan to go for a diff phone, because if it is just a screen replacement i don't think they will wipe out your phone.
The screen isn't responsive at all and I can't see anything on it I have a pass word not a pattern or number sequence. Like I said when I plug it in the computer recognizes the phone just won't let me access anything without entering the password.
Is set on charge only then?
Can you access the phone via ADB? You could reboot to recovery, even stock recovery and access through ADB command line.

Broken screen, USB debugging disabled - internal data recovery possible?

Hello everyone
Problem as stated in the title - I've managed to destroy my screen completely (no image/no touch), the only vital signs I get from my P9 Lite/VNS-L21 are:
- vibration when pressing power button
- some white backlight visible underneath the screen
- LED is on when charging/connecting through USB cable
- HiSuite installation disc visible in my Windows Explorer when connected through USB
HiSuite says the phone is disconnected. I can't type in my password on boot as the screen is off, cannot access options and enable USB debugging. I unlocked the bootloader few months ago but as for now all the root options are disabled.
Is there anything I can do to retrieve data from internal memory, most importantly contacts and text messages? I want to change my phone anyway, so I don't intend to buy a new screen just for retrieving data...

Xiaomi Mi 9T all of a sudden bricked - ADB shows "unauthorized device"

Hello all,
my Xiaomi 9T bricked - no external force like a drop, I also never tinkered with flashing or something like that - I just heard a notification coming in, wanted to check on that and the phone just never turned on.
I tried getting it into Fastboot or Recovery mode, however no success. What I noticed was, that the phone was kind of recognized when i "booted" it into fastboot. I unfortuntately cant remember, if I turned on USB Debugging (think I did though) and installed ADB drivers to maybe get something done.
Unfortunately, all I get via ADB is "e42a47 unauthorized". Even after killing/starting ADB and deleting adb-files in .android folders. I don't know if my phone wants me to grant access, but since the display is black, I can't tell.
So if you have ANY ideas how to save the phone, I'll gladly try it out.
Thanks!
I decided to try again and google some more. I discovered the "XiaoMiToolV2", tried to install a new ROM. I put the phone (still showing a completely black screen) into Recovery-Mode using Power and Vol+ and selected (blindly) the "reboot" option.
Now the phone seems to work normally, it shows up in Windows Explorer (although not showing files unfortunately - I guess its not in the right mode to do date transfer) and I also can hear the appropiate sounds when charging it/disconnecting it/etc - the screen still stays black.
Any idea where the problem could be? Is this more on the hardware side now?
As already being said, it never went black after a drop or anything (drops did happen in the past though).
e: It seems that the finger-print sensor is still working too.
I am now trying the almost legendary "rubber band"-method to drain the battery and see what happens.

Backup SM-J530F/DS with broken (black screen)?

Hello all together,
I have here the Samsung SM-J530F/DS of my father.
After the smartphone was dropped, the display no longer shows anything.
Is there any way to backup the data?
There is no screen lock set up, it would just ask for a pin when restarting (I have the pin).
There are no cloud backups and there is no SD card inserted.
If you can get it to connect to the PC.
If it boots and the touch screen still works, it's in the right usb mode and you can hit the connect popup. That's a lot of if's... if the mobo is undamaged you can try replacing the display.
Had he used a SD card as a data drive for critical data and a good case things be a lot easier.
Yeah, a non-dev user probably didn't have ADB enabled. That makes life more difficult.
If you do get ADB working you can use a screen grabber/poker desktop application.
My AdbGrab.exe (in the sig) will let you grab the screen and mouse click things.
It's slow, but the advantage is that it works on stock, unrooted devices without installing anything.
