Hello everyone
Problem as stated in the title - I've managed to destroy my screen completely (no image/no touch), the only vital signs I get from my P9 Lite/VNS-L21 are:
- vibration when pressing power button
- some white backlight visible underneath the screen
- LED is on when charging/connecting through USB cable
- HiSuite installation disc visible in my Windows Explorer when connected through USB
HiSuite says the phone is disconnected. I can't type in my password on boot as the screen is off, cannot access options and enable USB debugging. I unlocked the bootloader few months ago but as for now all the root options are disabled.
Is there anything I can do to retrieve data from internal memory, most importantly contacts and text messages? I want to change my phone anyway, so I don't intend to buy a new screen just for retrieving data...

I really need a guru here with this one! Dropped the phone last tuesday, screen cracked, and is no longer operable. Since the Nexus 4 has no SD card, I have no way of retrieving the data on it. When I plug the usb cable into the computer, it defaults to charging mode instead of mass storage mode to mount a drive on the computer. Screen is locked with my chosen pattern. Is there any way at all to make the the phone automatically mount the drive instead of going to charging mode?

Is your bootloader unlocked? Do you have USB debugging enabled?
I don't know the answer to either of those questions unfortunately. How would I know if debugging is enabled, or the bootloader is unlocked?

If you had done either of those things you probably would have known, but in case you forgot... Did you ever root your phone? If you did you would have had to unlock your bootloader. If you did not, did you ever boot into bootloader mode, connect your phone to your computer and used the command prompt to run the command "fastboot oem unlock"?
If you never did any of that I unfortunately don't think there is much to do about your phone.
I'm pretty sure I didn't do any of that.. Does it have to do anything with when you hold the volume down button and power button at the same time and it brings you to that android screen where you use the volume buttons as cursors up and down, and the power button to select items? I can get to that screen.....
I found this thread:
http://www.dotkam.com/2013/01/16/backup-and-reset-nexus-4-cracked-and-locked-screen/
but I'm not sure if it helps me or not......? That screen I was talking about is called fastboot
this is crazy, I just came across this thread, looks like it might be the answer to my problem, I hope!! I will update this thread after I give it a try:

Hi,
I just cracked the upper left corner of my Wileyfox Storm. there's a burst from the top to he bottom of my phone which resulted in an error of the touchscreen, it's not working at all. I tried to connect my phone via USB cblae to my computer so I can restore my files to de PC but it's not connecting at all...:crying:
At first I had the usual scren to enter my PIN code for my Simcard, but now it is gettin ON/OFF constantly (probably untill the battery dies).
Any one who can help me to restore my files ?
I was in same situation. Answer: You cant get files unless you replace your screen.. BUT if You decide to replace screen, You wont find replacements on the web to buy them, and You will have to send phone to Wileyfox, the'll say that it's no longer supported, or if they will fix it, it will be wiped completely.
After braking stom i bought N5 and im happy as hell
If you open the phone it is possible to disconnect the touch panel and get the phone to start. With a USB otg connector you can navigate with a mouse. With a USB hub you can also connect a pc (mouse required to enable file transfer) at the same time or you can transfer the files via WiFi / Bluetooth (sloooow)

Hey! I broke my Oneplus 5 phone's screen a few days ago, and it turned completely black. It doesn't seem to respond to touch either. I would like to recover my files. Does anyone know any way I could do that?
Specifications:
-Android Oreo, OxygenOS (newest OxygenOS since October 2018, so probably OxygenOS 5.1.4 according to this https://www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-5-update-784001/)
-Fingerprint sensor still works, so I can unlock the screen.
-The bootloader is unlocked
-The device is rooted
-USB Debugging seems to be off as "adb devices" doesn't bring up anything and dr.fone asks to turn USB Debugging on. (dr.fone is a random app someone recommended on a similar thread, https://drfone.wondershare.com/)
-I think the phone recognizes my laptop as a "charging device" (instead of MTP I think?), which is why it shows that my OP5 is empty when I try to open it in file explorer
-My bluetooth keyboard is still connected to the phone. It also has a touch pad so in theory I can navigate the phone. (pretty sure it's this one https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B078RGRJGD/)
The keyboard has some weird shortcuts and doesn't have a windows key though so I might have to get a USB C to USB adapter to plug my USB keyboard in instead.
-sound works, notification light works, button backlights light up when touched if screen is unlocked, internet access on w/ sim card
Solutions I can think of:
-Turn USB Debugging on so I can use adb or some file recovery program to move my files to my pc OR Change the USB "charging" mode to MTP or whatever.
*By blindly using my bluetooth keyboard that is already connected to the phone.
(like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=741MqF5uQDw
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...n-via-otg-and-restoring-data-with-mtp.717039/ )
I tried this but it didn't work. Maybe my bt keyboard doesn't open up notifications by pressing start/cmd + N? (normal keyboards open notifications when pressing Windows + N)
*By somehow sending a magical command from the pc to change the settings?? Maybe from fastboot or recovery mode or something?-Somehow connect the phone to an external display so I can control it w/ the bt keyboard (I read somewhere that OP5's usb c port doesn't support hdmi)
-Have someone call me on LINE, Messenger, Discord, Telegram, Skype etc, somehow answer, and somehow turn screen sharing on? haha
Also I'm 95% sure I have some version of TWRP installed from when I first rooted the phone. I can try to find the version from my pc files if that helps. (not 100% sure what TWRP even is but it has some backup/restore features right?)

Thank youuu, sorry for the long post
EDIT:
Didn't get it to work so in the end I had to repair it.
I got some folders to show up on my pc doing some adb/fastboot stuff, but all the files were encrypted as I wasn't able to unlock the phone in TWRP (you need to swipe the slider at the bottom and input the swipe pattern thing, fingerprint unlock didn't seem to work) so in the end I didn't get access to the files.
*This was 2 months ago so I might be remembering something wrong
As in the title, my Mi 9t all the sudden stopped working: the screen is "flashing" everytime I power it on, and the screen is not usable anymore (nor touch, nor I can view anything on the screen)
My phone isn't rooted, and I don't have either the usb development options enabled (I can't use adb)
I really need a way to get the datas from the phone, and then clear it.
Is there any way I can succed in this? I have the android lock pattern as a password, but I can't even enter it since I can't see nothing on the screen! And I don't know if the touch is working.
I've find on internet some methods, requiring connecting a mouse/keyboard with USB OTG, and using also an HDMI cable to connect the phone to an external screen... but I guess this will not work: I've seen that to use an external HD screen you need to give permission from the phone, and I can't since the screen doesn't work.
What can I do?
Hello all together,
I have here the Samsung SM-J530F/DS of my father.
After the smartphone was dropped, the display no longer shows anything.
Is there any way to backup the data?
There is no screen lock set up, it would just ask for a pin when restarting (I have the pin).
There are no cloud backups and there is no SD card inserted.
If you can get it to connect to the PC.
If it boots and the touch screen still works, it's in the right usb mode and you can hit the connect popup. That's a lot of if's... if the mobo is undamaged you can try replacing the display.
Had he used a SD card as a data drive for critical data and a good case things be a lot easier.
Yeah, a non-dev user probably didn't have ADB enabled. That makes life more difficult.
If you do get ADB working you can use a screen grabber/poker desktop application.
My AdbGrab.exe (in the sig) will let you grab the screen and mouse click things.
It's slow, but the advantage is that it works on stock, unrooted devices without installing anything.
