Backup SM-J530F/DS with broken (black screen)? - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Hello all together,
I have here the Samsung SM-J530F/DS of my father.
After the smartphone was dropped, the display no longer shows anything.
Is there any way to backup the data?
There is no screen lock set up, it would just ask for a pin when restarting (I have the pin).
There are no cloud backups and there is no SD card inserted.

If you can get it to connect to the PC.
If it boots and the touch screen still works, it's in the right usb mode and you can hit the connect popup. That's a lot of if's... if the mobo is undamaged you can try replacing the display.
Had he used a SD card as a data drive for critical data and a good case things be a lot easier.

Yeah, a non-dev user probably didn't have ADB enabled. That makes life more difficult.
If you do get ADB working you can use a screen grabber/poker desktop application.
My AdbGrab.exe (in the sig) will let you grab the screen and mouse click things.
It's slow, but the advantage is that it works on stock, unrooted devices without installing anything.

Please HELP!!

Hi Guys,
My touch screen and LCD screen NOt working! Phone Switches ON and comes to standby mode. (i hear all the booting dings and dong melodies)
I neeed to take a backup of my device. to do so i thought i'll use my mobiler and see the phone screen through the PC! unfortunately the last time i used i used the phone as the 'storage device' option. so every time i connec the phone to the pc windows open up my phone's storage card.
Is there a possibility i can change this back to active sync without using the phone's screen.
Or are there any other suggestions for me to take a full backup??
This might be overly complicated but all I can think of at the moment is to write a mortscript or something similar, stick on on your SD card and create an autorun on the card to run the script when it's inserted. The script could change the registry key associated with activesync/usb storage when the device is connected.
Yagetme?
You might be able to get it to work if you do a hard reset or perhaps flash another rom, as if I remember correctly, the default connection setting is set to Activesync.
However, if you're planning to solve the touchscreen, LCD problem, try to flash another rom. If that doesn't work, maybe it's a ribbon connection problem? I had a problem similar to this on my Diamond.
well, atm i see alot of ppl haveing problem with the display, dunno why this happens but it does.
my display turns black sometimes, to get it back working i turn out the battery for 10 seks, put it in again, and try to turn device on till it works. i will bring it to the service.
a hardreset won't help u, because ur data will be lost after hard reset.

broken screen and trying to recover data

got a phone from a friend to see if i can recover her data, problem is, the screen is destroyed. she dropped a 3lb defib battery on it and it shattered the screen. the screen does not even light up. i have no idea on what the settings are on the phone(IE debug/mass storage) so is there any way to recover her data for her?
I have run into the same problem with a captivate. The bottom screen doesnt respond so i can unlock it. Is there a way to run the phones with a computer? I just want to recover my pictures.
she could just buy a new screen if the rest of the phone is still intact. http://www.repairsuniverse.com/samsung-fascinate-i500-lcd-touch-screen-replacement.html
What data are you trying to recover? Since some things should be in predictable system directories, you should be able to just pull them with ADB, as long as the phone is powering up. I'd expect you could save contacts and such this way.
Actually, here's a thought. Someone would have to confirm that this would work, but I can't see why it wouldn't. I'm assuming the phone is stock now. Use Odin to flash CWM recovery to it. As long as you know the layout, you should be able to navigate without actually seeing the screen. Maybe using a second phone as a guide. Then you could make a Nandroid backup that would be saved to the SD. It'd be simple to just restore that to another phone.

Help my sceeen is shattered and i need files off my phone

I have the lg g2 it still works when I get calls and texts but I can't unlock my phone to get file access when plugging it through USB to the computer I have important files I need any help would literally save my life.
What sort of screen lock are you using and how damaged is the digitizer ie is it all dead or can you still use some of the screen to interact?
You may need to buy USB to go plug insert USB mouse into it then into LG g2 and get in there unlock phone insert USB computer cable and then transfer files to computer and then be rid of it.
You can also use some of the suggestions mentioned here.
Good luck
Also do you plan to go for a diff phone, because if it is just a screen replacement i don't think they will wipe out your phone.
The screen isn't responsive at all and I can't see anything on it I have a pass word not a pattern or number sequence. Like I said when I plug it in the computer recognizes the phone just won't let me access anything without entering the password.
Is set on charge only then?
Can you access the phone via ADB? You could reboot to recovery, even stock recovery and access through ADB command line.

Have you enabled adb?
If you have a PC, why cant you just attach a USB cable and access the internal memory? You may need to unlock the screen to do this, bad luck if you have a pattern lock or password/pin on your phone...
OK if you have the face unlock on...
ADB is not enabled.
Cable is connected to PC but nothing happening.
Its fingerprint and face unlock but it´s not connected, I cant choose USB connection...
I have to send it to screen replament
I think you could use fastboot to pull a user data off of it, as long as the power button and the volume down button still work you could boot it into fastboot. I don't think ADB would work unless you don't have a password or fingerprint or face data on the home screen. Basically you would hold down the power button and the volume down button until you felt it vibrate, wait a few seconds and then scroll down to bootloader/fastboot which, since you couldn't see it on the screen, I do believe is 1 clicks on the volume down button.
Then you should be able to execute fastboot commands.
If that doesn't work, I actually repair OnePlus (and many other) devices. Your data will be fine as long as it's just the screen that's busted. I have 3 options for you:
1.) I can simply repair your OnePlus 5 and throw a new display on there.
2.) If you're comfortable opening up your OP5, I can send you my tester display, which is a broken OnePlus 5 screen, that I use for testing devices, recovering data, etc. That way you'll be able to power on the device and interact with it temporarily to transfer your data off of it. My OP5 tester is cracked (hence why I use it as a tester), but the screen works just fine for testing purposes. When you're done with it you can just ship it back to me.
3.) You can send it to me and I can pull the data off of it for you.
PM me if you're interested.
I'm fairly trusting with people on XDA, so I'd be willing to do any of those for a fellow OP5 brother/sister.
P.S. - I ONLY use OEM parts. In the case of the display, it's a Samsung part.
Thanks for your trust!
I already ordered repair, UPS come get it from my home move it to Poland where OP change screen and bring it back to me in Finland and it cost only 100€
That is so cheap I have to use this OP5 one more year, I have to forget my dreams about OP6. OP7 will be my next phone.

Recovering photos from device with burned screen

A few days ago my girlfriend who has a J5 (J500M) accidentally let her phone fall into the washing machine and she turned on and put it on charge after little time and her screen burned. The cellphone works but I can't see anything in the screen (I know he works because the phone vibrates when receiving calls/messages), so the thing is: she have a lot of important pictures she took with the smartphone and she didn't wanna lose it all, but I tried a lot of things and none of them really worked:
Tried to put the phone in Download Mode and pull the images with ADB but the USB Debugging is not enabled, so it wont recognize the device.
Tried to put her password in the screen but I'm pretty sure the touch isn't working too.
Tried some programs that promises to recover my files but they didn't work.
I was thinking about flashing CWM and try to mount the storage partition but I couldn't find, I only found TWRP which is touchscreen only (I guess).
So anyone have any ideas to try?
PS:The screen is off so I can't see anything and USB Debugging is off.
Thanks guys,
