i have the same problem. But my phone cannot find any satellite.
Hi guys,
I made a video. Even I do hard reset and stuff it does the same.
From my understanding the GPS antenna is working right?
But I think it's software. It can't fix to any satellite.
Video:
Same phone same problem here. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Seems odd so many cases... is this a common issue with the P10?

Hey,
In mine i cannot get any satellite connection. I've been able to downgrade back to android 7 (Factory) by using Hisuit from the computer.
However, no luck, i think its an hardware issue or problem with the antenna. Sometimes my gps is able to lock after half an hour of driving, but usually not.
Any Fix??
I finally gave up and returned my phone. I think its hardware problem so no possible fix.

I tried that too and the result was the same as yours.
There is no solution I think. I tried lieterally all software mods and tweaks you can imagine. It is HW problem and I bet that gerabest knew about it during selling.
I had the problem, I changed the device in the geabest and another one with the same problem arrived. They gave you back my expense.
I bought a oneplus6 ... problem solved
I also bought the defected device from Gearbest.

Hi guys,
I had the same problem on a P10, No GPS, no satellites, tried all kinds of GPS repair apps, no luck, I ended up opening the phone and started to look around with magnifying glasses and noticed that there was a few metal components that were contacting some copper plates on the back of the phone. So I decided to clean them all with rubbing alcohol and q-tips, and guess what, GPS is working again !! Its been 5 minutes as I'm writing this , but hey, Its woth the try !
Good luck guys !
Guys, I have found a way to "solve" the GPS problem.
No guarantee that this would work for you.
Here is what I did:
1. keep the phone ON, and eject the sim card try and take out your sim card, put the sim try back in (i still had my sd card in there)
2. turn off the phone (not restart)
3. turn on the phone ( I had my wifi, and location service on )
4. check gps apps and satellite start showing up.
5. eject sim card tray again and put the sim card back in, insert the sim card tray back in.
6. carrier info showed up and gps/satellite info still there in apps. :good::good:
I just found this and will continue observing.
Good luck
Looks like works!

I just got back from Dubai this morning, and I recieved my first call from the plane. Fine, it worked.... but then...
disaster struck!
The phone has the "no signal" message when I click on the reception icon. I've tried to click the "turn phone off" button but nothing works...
I can't get into the phone settings in the start menu to change networks...
I'm trying to back-up to SD to do a hard reset, but the phone re-boots itself every 4 minutes! The device is also very slow in responding to the commands. E.G. when I place my phone code it takes 3 seconds just to type in the number... strange! I have 48 / 64 MB free in memory and a 256 MB SD card...
I can't connect to activesync because the decive is not being recognized. So I can't transfer anything through the USB... it's gotta be some kind of manual un-locking from the phone itself...
I took out the sim card and am using a crappy nokia until I get this deal fixed.
I searched the forum for possible solutions and some came close, but none popped the cherry...
Have any of you experienced this specific situation? Is there anything I can do to recover my data before hard-reseting the Qtek? I made about 30 new contacts on the recent trip and was going to sync when I got home from the airport... but the 1010 keeps passing out on me!! It's like giving a date a full bottle of Crystal Champange before hitting the bedroom... Sucks!
All my appoinments are on the phone for tomorrow.. it's 2:11AM if anyone can get back soon with instructions or any previous posting, please let me know.. E-mail me... SOMEBODY SAVE MY SOUL!!
HELP!
sorry to hear about ur problem, must be awful
I dunno if any one can save ur soul, but if worst comes to worst, Ill buy ur soul off of u, just gimmie a good price
thanx, an good luck
Does the phone reboot even if plugged into the power? Also have you tried a soft reset with the sd card removed?
try also to remove the SIM or try another one. some of them are faulty.
I had a similar but less traumactic problem in the phone part wouldn't work at all. Turned out that error messages can be saved on the sim card and block functions. Removing and re inserting the sim is enough to clear the block in my case.
Good luck.

Hi All
Have searched to see if this has been covered before ! but a bit of help for a newbie please
Is it possible to remove & replace the sim card without the unit losing all data etc ??
Only had the XDA11 for a couple of weeks,,all set up ok ?? with tom-tom etc, The other day had to remove the sim card for the day, so disconnected the battery for under 30 sec's, to remove the card, and replaced later that day, also within 30 sec etc, on powering up again,
all data was lost and the unit started to reload as a new unit again, is this correct,
Hope this makes sense
Best Regards TJ
I have a number of devices that I swap sims with regularly and have no problems as you describe.
Changing the SIM shouldn't cause it to hard reset only soft reset.
I have had a device that had the main battery flat but still kept its settings over a weekend on the backup battery.
Have you checked the level of the backup battery in the Power screen to see if there is any charge in it?
Thanks tyfy
Yep checked the batt levels before taking the card out, about 80% and 100 on backup etc,, but as you say, it did a hard start
Regards TJ
I can confirm the hard reset thing when I swapped SIM cards. Annoying at the time, but provided an impulse to update to 'latest' ROM. Haven't removed the SIM since, for fear of the same thing happening. If I could ever get home PC, work PC and home iMac properly synched and backed up, I'd remove it again to see what happens. Occured to me at the time that T-Mobile might have been up to some software tricks, then the paranoia left as suddenly as it arrived
Thanks Guys
I need to remove the sim card, so to fit the inbuilt carphone, O2 do not do 2 cards on the same number as yet !!
So !! is it possible to swap them around without having to do a hard start every time ??
Regards TJ

Hi cruisin-thru
Thanks for the link, not quite what i am looking for,
I need 2 cards ?? with the same number, or a way of moving the card from the XDA to the car and back again without doing a hard start every time ???
Regards TJ
Did a full back up to my SD last night, then checked the battery levels, = all OK, pull the battery and SIM, counted to 42 reinserted the SIM, battery and catch for battery, and everything normal. ALL data intact.
If you have a sim that is a few years old it is possible to clone it, the modern sims however will not work as the protection has yet to be cracked, if you do search on sim clone in google you will get lots of info. If you do manage to clone your sim make sure that only one phone is switched at at any one time or you may find that the security system on your network will zap the sim if it sees 2 identical numbers logged on.
Hi Guys
Thanks for the help,, been away over the weekend,
Took the card out Fri night, (took less the 20 secs) to put into the car system,,,,guess what, another hard start,, now sat here reloading all the stuff again (ie Tomtom ) etc
Had about 80% batt power with 100% backup,, i must be doing something wrong somewhere, can not belive this happens every time the card is removed !!
Regards TJ
Are you turning the PHONE off as well as the PDA? ie: set to flight mode before you turn it off. Maybe that's the problem?
Hi All
I think GaZ,s suggestion might have cracked it !!
Remove the tom tom chip, did a back up to storage card, and put the phone into flight mode, then removed the sim card within about 15 secs,
all OK !!,, have tried a couple of time and so far all ok
Many thanks to you all for the help, appreciated
Regards Tim
Hi all,
Just got home, looked at my mobile and it said there was no signal - so I turned it off and back on again, then it said there was no SIM inserted. Keep restarting the phone, keeps saying the same thing. Why?!
Am going to try it in my old SE K850i to see if it's the SIM card or the phone at fault.
In the mean time, does anyone else know of this fault and how to fix..?
I didn't the drop the phone or anything, it was just in my pocket, on it's own - like it always is!
Cheers
Tried it in my K850, works fine. Please someone help
yeah i usually dont put the sim card all the way in but slightly in and it works
I've re-opened this thread due to me misreading....DOH! Apologies (Mental note to one self.......follow own advice and read before posting).

you could try to clean the contacts on the sim card connector of the phone with a q-tip, and see if that solves the problem.
also check if any of those contacts appears to be bent or something, and so doesn't make a connection with the card.
Everytime I open the back up to remove the SD card, I get the SIM card missing bit even though I have not touched it! My HD is only 3 months old and it has done this from the start. I just have to remove it a bit - shove it back in and the phone accepts it is there. Annoying but not enough for me to send it back.
hmm, maybe try to make the sim a bit thicker so it doesnt move around (it shouldn't move by removing the back cover, but it seems to happen on your phone / sim combination.
try putting a thin piece of paper on top of the sim (not the contacts side, but the side facing to the battery cover)
maybe that prevents this problem?
Missing simcard
I have the same problem with my simcard. Though something strange happens when the phone is off for more then 10min, it works fine and notices there is a simcard for like 30 sec after which the error pops-up again. I have tried all of the above things, my simcard works fine in my other phone, adding some paper to thicken it doesn't work either
Anyone who could help me with this?
P.S. sorry for the bad english
As in post 7# written, put some papersheet in the simholder above your simcard to increase the contactpreasure. This surely helps.
Tis trick is also useful for all dualsim users who thik the dualsimadapter does not work in their device (but after using this trick get astonished!)
for Thysiey:
Try to switch to Gsm mode to test . Maybe you have bad umts signal? Happens at other places too, or only at one place?
Got the same issue here...
I cannot move the SIM because it is being hold in place by the battery. (to little room)
Adding a piece did not work either.
Anyone got another solution?
anyone? My mothers HD just got this problem now. She has a new phone and for the contract renewal she had to read the backside of the sim. The phone all of a sudden didn't recognizes the simcard anymore.. I tried a few other simcards but it won't read it anymore.
My plan was to sell the old phone but now it's almost worthless just a shame it is still a great phone to operate.. handy with the navigation and all
Hello guys, I am having a problem with my unbranded x10i bought in UK (I am currently using it here in the philippines with a local sim card) . After I did an OTA two days ago, it just keeps on restarting/booting! I have tried the "repair" option twice in the PC Companion software but still no luck.
What's strange though is that when I tried switching the phone on WITHOUT a sim card in, it booted up with no problem (and I checked the build number, it says R2BA020 which probably means the OTA update was a success). I put the sim card back in and the problem came back, it kept on restarting.
What seems to be wrong? Any suggestions on fixing it? I would really appreciate your help guys. Thanks!
Update: I successfully rooted my phone hoping that rooting would solve my issue, but unfortunately it still keeps on rebooting/restarting whenever i put ANY sim card in.
Have you tried using another SIM-card?
yes. I have used different sim cards...
Try flashing back the original firmware.. and make sure the sim card is inside the x10 while doing it. Worth a try..
I have the same problem too and I have just updated my phone to R2BA024 and the firmware version is still 1.6. I have hard-reset so many times and reinstall some many times. The problem still there. I have contact Sony Ericsson customer service and bought my phone to fix. Got it back, problem hasnt been solved. I have waited for 3 weeks for a reply from them and end-up they said they do not have any new phone or spare-parts to fix my phone. Until then, I have contacted them almost 10 times and still no one has the right answer and just keep asking me to wait. They dun even have an exact date when the parts will arrive. I am very piss off now and I dunno what I should do next.
Its the same problem here with me too. Bought the phone from a friend about 3 days ago. was going all good when it just started to keep booting itself. While the sim is inside, it'll restart just as it finishes booting. Without the sim, its fine. I have tried other sim cards too, and format/reset my phone many times but it just isnt working for me anymore. HELPPPP!!!

Is it 32K sim or 64K???
hi techguru, can u tel me wot the diff is between the 32k and 64k sim ? many thanks
ISSUE SOLVED here.
BTW : my sim is 64k.
anyways, i found out that the problem was because of the faulty battery. what i guess is that the voltage couldnt get to the requirements of the phone, and everytime the sim radio (whatever its called) switched on, the phone just turned off.
I reinstalled/repaired my phone many times, GOT the exclamation mark of death one time also, but the phone just didnt turn on.
Later i noticed that the phone would just turn on itself when i attach the phone to the charger, otherwise it wouldnt turn ON. So what i did was just change the battery, and walla, the phone is ALIVE again.
Sim is working, phone is working.
BUT i see some signal losses from time to time, otherwise the phone is good enuff.
FOR me , the change of battery did the trick, I hope it works for u guyz aswell.
Cheers ...

hmmm. sounds interesting. I might try changing my battery. btw, i have tried using both 64 and 32K sim cards but the phone keeps restarting with any of the sim cards in. without both the sim cards, the phone works fine. how much does an x10 battery cost?
here, i get the cheap chinese battery. it isnt expensive, but its working great. almost better than my previous battery.
cost me around 2.5$.
but.. i am still getting lots of SIGNAL DROPS. i dont know why it is happeneing. I tried swapping the battery with the original battery of another X10, but no change. Signal loss is not a battery issue then.
Any idea what it could be ??
Signal loss?
Maybe a weak signal, or radio related?
or maybe its because i updates it to R026 is causing the signal loss issue ??
@techguru
I am also using airtel, but with a 64kb sim.
In my case it does not start.
It start if with no battery or with a 128kb sim of TIM.
I tried to recharge the firmware but nothing seemed to change.
I know that someone solved the problem swithcing off the phone in airplane mode, but this is not the case for me.
I also noticed that in some cases the led is green and is slowly blinking.
I am ready to change the battery if this helps, but I am not sure. Even if I put it under charge it does not switch on and the battery seems not to charge
As I bought the phone only since one day I wonder if they will change it.
Currently using kitkat stock rom with the latest update nh3 build....GPS doesn't lock at all...I downloaded gps toolbox to find out what's going on, it's getting the satellite data and 5-6 connections after 3-5mins but doesn't lock at all....really disappointed with this issue as I need gps very much...anyone facing this issue and any solutions to this??
same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2844251
After struggling a lot I have found the fix
|steps|
1. Download GPS status and toolbox and run it with the gps turned on. Reset A GPS data and download it.
2. Check if the satellites are being recognized or not, for example fix/sat - 1/19 or 1/21 or depending on the visibility of the satellites.
3. If u see the satellites are getting recognized but the gps isn't locking, then open the back panel of ur phone, remove the battery, and loosen the screws and tighten them to the max, one by one. (If you do not have the proper screwdriver for the phone then take it to a local mobile repair shop or buy a small screwdriver.)
4. Put the battery in and power on ur Phone.
5. Open the gps status app with the location turned on, reset AGPS data and download it again.
Wait 30secs for the lock.
It is recommended to check for satellites outside your house or on the terrace so that you have clear sky view.
PS . I still didn't understand the logic behind this but this fix actually worked for me...now my gps locks in less than 10secs whereas before it wouldn't lock at all..
ENJOY!!!!
ahaha...yes I did buddy, I am david chuck in fb account. but thanks anyway ?
Samsung galaxy grand 2 GPS issue
Hi friends ,
I too faced the same kind of issue and after removing the back panel screws and tightening it , my GPS issue got fixed but it didn't last long .
After the mobile is receiving some vibration or shake .. it went to the previous state of GPS not working or fixing ..
Then again i tightened the back panel cover or pressed hard ...then it started working again .. so i guess the internal mother board or the back panel cover is loose .. so the GPS antenna is not getting contact with the mother board GPS socket ...
I tried to remove my phone but i cannot since its little difficult and am afraid it may brake .. as my phone is still in the warranty period am planning to take it to a samsung authorized service center and tighten the mother board and to check whether this issue is fixed permanently after that ..
you can find the disassemble videos in youtube by searching with keywords - samsung galaxy grand 2 disassemble

It works now
Memory Card Issue
Hi everyone !
I was facing the same issue and gps would not lock position even after more than 5 minutes. I removed the memory card , sd card which sits on top of the sim 1 slot.
Surprisingly gps signal now is strong and with wifi on the phone position is locked in about a minutes time. Maybe the memory card interfers with the gps signal receivers.
Try removing the memory card and see if this helps.
Thanks,

When I read this post, I thought this was so dumb. After updating to KitKat and months of "GPS signal lost" while driving with navigation I finally got fed up and tried this simple trick.
to my amazement, it really works. Kuddos to whoever figured this out.
Which trick? Removing SD card or another?

Screw trick worked for me. Loose them up and tighten to max.

true!!
Just to say that i dropped by accident my grand 2 yesterday to the floor and today the whole morning the GPS was useless, never fixing... and never showing more than 2 satellites... but after reading your comments, opened the case, removed battery, tightened the pieces and voilá, GPS got fixed !!!
Learned that:
1- don't hit your cell phone...i bought a rugged case to protect it (externally), but it does not protect cellphone form internal shock
2- use the GPS status app
3- be nice with everyone, including your gadgets
4- learn from others
cheers
