Currently using kitkat stock rom with the latest update nh3 build....GPS doesn't lock at all...I downloaded gps toolbox to find out what's going on, it's getting the satellite data and 5-6 connections after 3-5mins but doesn't lock at all....really disappointed with this issue as I need gps very much...anyone facing this issue and any solutions to this??
same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2844251
After struggling a lot I have found the fix
|steps|
1. Download GPS status and toolbox and run it with the gps turned on. Reset A GPS data and download it.
2. Check if the satellites are being recognized or not, for example fix/sat - 1/19 or 1/21 or depending on the visibility of the satellites.
3. If u see the satellites are getting recognized but the gps isn't locking, then open the back panel of ur phone, remove the battery, and loosen the screws and tighten them to the max, one by one. (If you do not have the proper screwdriver for the phone then take it to a local mobile repair shop or buy a small screwdriver.)
4. Put the battery in and power on ur Phone.
5. Open the gps status app with the location turned on, reset AGPS data and download it again.
Wait 30secs for the lock.
It is recommended to check for satellites outside your house or on the terrace so that you have clear sky view.
PS . I still didn't understand the logic behind this but this fix actually worked for me...now my gps locks in less than 10secs whereas before it wouldn't lock at all..
ENJOY!!!!
ahaha...yes I did buddy, I am david chuck in fb account. but thanks anyway ?
Samsung galaxy grand 2 GPS issue
Hi friends ,
I too faced the same kind of issue and after removing the back panel screws and tightening it , my GPS issue got fixed but it didn't last long .
After the mobile is receiving some vibration or shake .. it went to the previous state of GPS not working or fixing ..
Then again i tightened the back panel cover or pressed hard ...then it started working again .. so i guess the internal mother board or the back panel cover is loose .. so the GPS antenna is not getting contact with the mother board GPS socket ...
I tried to remove my phone but i cannot since its little difficult and am afraid it may brake .. as my phone is still in the warranty period am planning to take it to a samsung authorized service center and tighten the mother board and to check whether this issue is fixed permanently after that ..
you can find the disassemble videos in youtube by searching with keywords - samsung galaxy grand 2 disassemble

Yes this method works, thank God
It works now
Memory Card Issue
Hi everyone !
I was facing the same issue and gps would not lock position even after more than 5 minutes. I removed the memory card , sd card which sits on top of the sim 1 slot.
Surprisingly gps signal now is strong and with wifi on the phone position is locked in about a minutes time. Maybe the memory card interfers with the gps signal receivers.
Try removing the memory card and see if this helps.
Thanks,

When I read this post, I thought this was so dumb. After updating to KitKat and months of "GPS signal lost" while driving with navigation I finally got fed up and tried this simple trick.
to my amazement, it really works. Kuddos to whoever figured this out.
Which trick? Removing SD card or another?
Sent from my SM-G7102 using XDA Free mobile app
Screw trick worked for me. Loose them up and tighten to max.

Does you guys already check my thread?

true!!
Just to say that i dropped by accident my grand 2 yesterday to the floor and today the whole morning the GPS was useless, never fixing... and never showing more than 2 satellites... but after reading your comments, opened the case, removed battery, tightened the pieces and voilá, GPS got fixed !!!
Learned that:
1- don't hit your cell phone...i bought a rugged case to protect it (externally), but it does not protect cellphone form internal shock
2- use the GPS status app
3- be nice with everyone, including your gadgets
4- learn from others
cheers

I all, help me please:
My htc make a reset it self or I find it poweroff without reason, I tried to change the battery with a new, and although I made her original rom the problem persists.
Had the same problem, send it in to service and received it two weeks later.
They said that they have replaced the platine. No further comments.
Cheers
Poweroff without reason....even after getting the battery replaced with a new one sounds like a hardware problem. Take it to the HTC service center.
Did you flash a new ROM to your device ?
Before I knew mine is an Elfin, I flashed Elf-ROMS to it
and that caused the same problems you mentioned.
Yes I flashed with onyx 3.2.1 before I had a PdaVietV66.
But the problem is: I returned to the original ISP/UPL with the original ROM and the problem is the same!
I try to set power/backlight setting always ON, I unchecked "Today timeout" in "setting->today>item" but I don't resolved.
In another site I found (but I don't understand how it)
"This seems to be a common problem, I have read about it on other forums. The fix is to remove the battery cover and put a small folded up piece of paper between the cover and the cover switch, to ensure the switch stays depressed. This seems to fix the powering down -AND- the memory card disappearing act. I don't have this phone yet, I just ordered it, so I can't give any more details about the location of the cover switch until it comes. Let us know if that fixes it"
Completely dead!
No hard reset, no power on, change battery.... niet, nada.
I sent it to assistance.

Having same problem with my touch, I have the diamond right now but would like to bring the old touch back to life!
Anybody know where to find this switch??
maybe some pics or a howto?
thx
thread link:

Is this the position of the switch maybe? (green arrow)
Had the same problem with the default ROM and with TrueG V4. I followed what xoms found (many thanks) and in 2 days my Touch hasn't gone off once.
The switch does appear to be what you pointed out, romflasher. I put the paper on there to about the height of level with the rest of the inside shell. Hope you can get it to work.
Hello!
This is my first post so want to thank you all for this great page.
Secondary i want to tell my story and hope so someone can help me to find some solution to my problem.
Here is my story:
I have a note 3 (n9005) eu version. Its worked fine but somehow stopped working the (all) sensors (probably the 32F401B chip dead). Expect sensors all works fine. New board here cost half of the phone price...
So i decided to buy a new board from aliexpress. Yesterday the board arrived fine without any psychical damage. When i first start the phone it have some 4.4 version of android. Instilled the app called phone info and found information model n9005zwexsi. There is no samsung serial number and the country of origin is empty, also no color just 32GB model. Not tested to much because i don't like android 4.4. Just started *#0*# to check sensors.
Later i flash via odin to 5.0 eu firmware without any problem.
Then i notice that the wifi signal is good -61dBm but the link speed is bad 1Mbps from 3 meter of router.
Another one problem is that the touch soft keys (settings and back) not light up, but it works fine.
I took apart the phone and put it back the old board (with bad sensors) to check wifi and touch keys.
Wifi with same distance have ~ 35Mbit link speed.
Touch keys light up.
So then again take apart the phone and put it back the "new" board, but now i use twrp recovery to flash custom rom [Rom][5.1.1][Xposed][Note 5 Port][27.02.2016]Norma Rom Note 5 V26[Fast and Stable]
Still same problem. Any suggestion?
Thanks
BR rabmog987
I can't help with the wifi problem.
But, try disabling power saving mode (if enabled), this usually disables the lights on Note 5 ports.
Hope it helped in any way!

hello my question is simple
....well not that simple or i wouldnt be here but ill get to the point quikly then!
ive had 3x note 4 910G all die from emmc read fail after freezing, reboots, non starts, lagging etc.2 of th Ed 3 would have been lucky to see over 10-15 flashes of anything each now can someone please inform me of maybe one or two reasons that are the main causes of motherboard failure
only factors id like to add that may help and thats the one or two times the phones became hot from either charging or in direct sun as i work outdoor.
im about to purchase a 4th as after my upgrade as my contract expired and recieved the note 5 and its just not cricket LONG LIVE THE 4!
I don't know if this is gonna help you but I hope it does. I still consider myself a noob when it comes to rooting, flashing and roms in general so please take all this with a grain of salt.
I too have an 910G and have seen this emmc read fail a few times while playing around with different Note7 roms. The setup I have going at the moment though doesn't have the emmc read fail, but it does have other issues. I'll explain what they are later but I'd rather have the current issues I have now rather than the emmc read fail.
My current setup is this
Note7 Rom - Aurora v4.1
Kernel Version 3.10.40 H-Vitamin
Bootloader - N910GDTS1DPK2
Baseband - N910GDTU1DPF4
THE ISSUES
1. I have to have AOD turned on. If I don't have it turned on and the screen automatically turns off after five minutes it won't come back on again. I have to remove the battery to get it to boot up and work properly again.
2. Restarting/Rebooting. It doesn't work. It will just hang. If you want to reboot your phone you have to do a shutdown. And not just any shutdown. I kid you not if I don't do this my Note4 WILL NOT boot...
1. Shutdown Note4
2. Remove battery
3. Hold down power button for at least 10 seconds
4. Put it in a ziplock bag and place it in the fridge for 10 minutes.
5. Remove from fridge, insert battery and it will boot normally.
Again, I'm not joking about the fridge thing. I read about it in a Note4 de-brick thread. I didn't believe it when I read but one day I bricked my Note4 so I thought what the hell, it can't hurt to try. And blow me down it worked!
So that was my fix anyway. AOD does'nt work perfectly. It messes up your auto brightness but there is a workaround. You just have to wake up the sensor. To do that you just turn on your screen with the Home or Power button, then immediately turn it off again with the power button. Immediately proceeding that turn the screen on again with the Home button and it will readjust to the light in the room or environment you are in.
I hope that helps. And yes, long live the Note4! When I had to return my 2nd Note7 my carrier offered me any other phone, including the Note5. I asked to go on a sim only plan and went back to my Note4. Nothing out there at the moment grabs me atm. Not even the S8. I need my sPen! Waiting patiently for the Note8.

Hello sir, if i understand right you have an hardware issue, like a cold-soldering circuit.. When the motherboard reaches cold temp it contracts and due to contraction "bad circuit" makes contact with motherboard and everything works fine for a while.. Does the phone crashes during intense usage? (battery / motherboard / screen reaching hot temp?)

I actually have no abnormal issues. It warms up a little when charging but once it gets to 100% it gets cold again. There are no phone crashes during intense usage. It runs rather well. I reboot it once a week like I've always done with mobile phones as OS memory leaks build up over time.

Probably a bad batch. Mine has been working fine for two years and still going, I even used it a lot for Waze outdoor and it gets extremely hot, killed the battery but nothing else. Mine was the Exynos though.

Sir, there is one fix I know for this cause and it seems to work for all note 4 users who face this problem.
We all have to install this app called wakelock , you can search up the google store.
This happens in snapdragon variants mostly as of I heard. When system goes to deep sleep mode the restart and stuff happens this wakelock app would stop phone from going off deep sleep and fix the issue.
Here is a 100% hardware fix for this issue that anyone can do with no tools or specia

Hey,
In mine i cannot get any satellite connection. I've been able to downgrade back to android 7 (Factory) by using Hisuit from the computer.
However, no luck, i think its an hardware issue or problem with the antenna. Sometimes my gps is able to lock after half an hour of driving, but usually not.
Any Fix??
I finally gave up and returned my phone. I think its hardware problem so no possible fix.

I tried that too and the result was the same as yours.
There is no solution I think. I tried lieterally all software mods and tweaks you can imagine. It is HW problem and I bet that gerabest knew about it during selling.
I had the problem, I changed the device in the geabest and another one with the same problem arrived. They gave you back my expense.
I bought a oneplus6 ... problem solved
I also bought the defected device from Gearbest.

Hi guys,
I had the same problem on a P10, No GPS, no satellites, tried all kinds of GPS repair apps, no luck, I ended up opening the phone and started to look around with magnifying glasses and noticed that there was a few metal components that were contacting some copper plates on the back of the phone. So I decided to clean them all with rubbing alcohol and q-tips, and guess what, GPS is working again !! Its been 5 minutes as I'm writing this , but hey, Its woth the try !
Good luck guys !
Guys, I have found a way to "solve" the GPS problem.
No guarantee that this would work for you.
Here is what I did:
1. keep the phone ON, and eject the sim card try and take out your sim card, put the sim try back in (i still had my sd card in there)
2. turn off the phone (not restart)
3. turn on the phone ( I had my wifi, and location service on )
4. check gps apps and satellite start showing up.
5. eject sim card tray again and put the sim card back in, insert the sim card tray back in.
6. carrier info showed up and gps/satellite info still there in apps. :good::good:
I just found this and will continue observing.
Good luck
Looks like works!

Hi PROS,
Please help me out if you have any idea.
I'm riding motorbike so I really do need the GPS when ever I go to new road.
My Nexus 6p got cracked and the price for repair same as a new one $200 aud, which I can buy a secondhand .
Back to my issue, The galaxy S8 .
The Location and tracking still working as the phone know where is it on the map.
However when I try to use the direction , GPS never move ( it move before as delay 10s , 60km/h , 10s delay is a nightmare.)
I tried with the GPS status, it not working too.
Even try to change with different ROM.
Any idea or is that my phone just hardware issue?
Thank for reading guys,
Have a lovely day,
