Every time I click on the comment button of a post the Facebook app crashes. Anyone else with the same issue?
With as crappy as the coding on Facebooks app is who knows. I have not seen this and I am on 9
Hmm, discouraging. I've cleared cache, deleted data, uninstalled and installed the app to no avail.
I am on totally stock unrooted 9
I am having similar lockups on multiple apps. Stock-unrooted aug 6 build of P and I tried a full device reset.
Not seeing any app issues same release of P ...hmm have you done a cache clear on the device? Meaning the os not indevidual apps.

I get exactly the same thing on my stock Pixel 2 XL since upgrading to Pie. However, it works fine on a Pixel 1.
I've tried uninstalling FB and re-installing and no joy.
The Facebook Lite app works ok, but that's garbage and doesn't have all the functionality I need.

Being out of the scene for a while, how do you delete the dalvic cache... ie how do you put the PH-1 in recovery, and do you have the delete cache in stock recovery?
Edit : I did put the phone in recovery mode but, as I expected, the stock recovery image does not have the delete cache option like a custom recovery. Hmm surprised to read that not even a factory reset solved the issue.
I've never used the FB app. Who knows what it is doing when you aren't using it, even if it is closed/stopped.
Better way...open your browser, instead of going to www.facebook.com, go to www.m.facebook.com which
loads the mobile version, and in your browser settings, you can always use the desktop version if needed.

No problem here, all good.
And just like that, it fixed by itself. I did not update the App, nor anything else....... mistery of technology!

More likely an issue with your Facebook account. Facebook has AI doing code corrections all the time in the background. They also sometimes fubar stuff and then correct it a couple of days later. This has happened to my account more than once.
Mystery of Technology... LOL, no, more like Bugs of Technology, and Pie just came out, so expect plenty of them until it matures a bit...

As a complete newby I hope I am doing this correctly. My problem is that since updating to android 4.2.2 I have noticed that Gallery is not working. I have also rooted my Nexus 7 so is it possible that this is the problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

OP, try a hard reset, this may help with the gallery npot opening
Does it show up under "All Apps"? I had a similar problem, and it was somehow disabled from there.. no idea why, but I just re enabled it.

You make it sound as if this is normal; it is not. Gallery works just fine.
Maybe the OP can specify the actual problem...

Yes it does show under all apps. Not quite sure what you mean by re enabled. If you mean touching it and placing it on the Home screen. I did that and it places it there but when I try to open it a window comes up saying "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped". I have noticed that when I access the list of apps via "Settings" it is not listed, could this be the problem?

The problem is that when I try to open the Gallery it opens a message "Unfortunately Gallery has stopped". I have just noticed that I get the same message when I try to open the camera app.
Do you by any chance have Google+ installed ?
I've had a problem with my JellyBean Gallery on my HTC Evo 3D after i installed Google+, clearing Google+ and Gallery cache and data fixed the Gallery.

Did you clear cache and data of Google+ AND Gallery itself ?
If you did then try remembering if you installed any new app(s) recently and uninstall them.

When you go to the Apps in the Settings SWIPE TWICE to the left for section ALL and then scroll down to the Gallery.

Thanks very much. That worked, which allowed me to clear the data and cache, but the same window appears even after completely shutting the device down and restarting. As I said earlier I think I will have to un-root the device and start again.

Perhaps you should look at logcat and see if it has anything of use in it. Perhaps you have a corrupt image, although I'd think the media scanner would just skip it.

Hey, just wondering if anyone else is having problems with apps randomly refreshing. It happens in every app except the browsers. It's a bit annoying when you are typing thingso out and the app refreshes, losing what you typed. I've tried reinstalling apps, I have no idea what's up.
Thanks again.
Never experienced what you are getting.
Maybe upload a video so other users can see what is actually happening.
Is it on every application? or selected application? Like HTML5 apps?
Not sure, seems like all my apps, except Browser apps. I'll upload a video sometime tomorrow or the next day, I'm on limited wifi, so uploading some videos would take forever. It's weird and very frustrating, I really want to like this phone, but with the apps refreshing at times when I don't need them to be, it's a real bummer. You'll being doing something in almost any app and it will refresh/reload itself.

I have no idea what that is. I thought it may have been package disable pro, but I turned that off and it wasn't the case. I notice it in snapchat the most, I'll take a picture and as I'm marking people to send the snap to, it'll just reload back to the picture taking screen.
Same here, it started from today. First noticed on snapchat, took a video about to post it lol lost it. Then youtibe app refreshed itself, also media player while watchibg video. Its kinda weird. Maybe its ram problem ?
Also rebooted the phone, did not help.

Had a factory worked for you, because I have the same problem.
It started out of nowhere. Really annoying.
YouTube videos also randomly get paused.
Same problem here, it has been going on for over a week now. Thought it was maybe a screen or gesture setting... Nope. Then thought maybe it was the Nova app launcher, but I've uninstalled it and still have the same issue.
I have the same here. Did anything work for you?
I'm having the same problem! I'll be scrolling and the page is constantly resetting to the top. Filling out forms and they'll be deleted. YouTube videos are always stopping. It's a real pain. Has anyone discovered the cause or a solution yet?
+1..Happening to me for a couple weeks now. Factory reset my phone. No dice. Apps refreshing, YouTube oausing - same symptoms. So frustrating
Has anybody got a fix for this issue? Its really annoying.
Did the factory reset worked for anyone?
Thanks

Its an issue for me too. I will try reset today.
My factory reset seemed to work for a while, but then it started doing it again. S7 running nouget
Do you mean auto update? Instead of auto refresh? as far as I know auto refreshing apps are normal, it's supposed to do that. Example your weather app (if you have use them)
If you mean auto update you can change the setting in the play store
I have tried many times to somehow fix this issue before posting but have literally no success. After recently updating to the October build, a game I play frequently called Marvel Contest of Champions, no longer works. The game will load, but pictures and graphics are missing, and quickly freeze my phone if I interact with them.
Anyone have any idea of how to rectify this issue? Deleting app data, and uninstalling does not help, neither does rebooting the device, or wiping Dalvik/Art cache in recovery. Even tried notch settings. I'm literally out of ideas here.
Sounds like the issue is the app is poorly built. And since it is app specific I would defer to the developer.
Turn off developer option, reboot and try again.

It has bugs like any game, but this has something to do with Essential's October release. The game literally works for me on any other build or Custom ROM - just not October.

I didn't think to try that, will do if I ever venture back to new-ish stock builds. Thanks for the suggestion.
I have a strange problem that began sometime in the past 3 days.
I went to post a picture to Instagram and noticed no photos were present under "Gallery". Even after taking a photo within the Instagram app, the new photo didn't show up under "Gallery" in the Instagram app.
I started digging and found out that this problem started within the past 3 days. I could identify this time frame because Google Photos uploaded a photo taken on my phone 3 days ago. Pictures since then have not been found by the Google Photos app. I have already reset the cache and data of the Media Storage system app - it rebuilt the Gallery app's index, but still the problem persists. I've also reinstalled affected apps.
Google Photos sees pictures in other folders outside of "DCIM\Camera", such as downloads and Music. So the issue seems to be related somehow to the DCIM\Camera folder in particular.
List of symptoms:
Cannot access photos from Instagram app, but I can share from Gallery app to Instagram app
Message+ crashes when trying to add media to a text
Cannot access photos in Camera folder from Google Photos
Gallery and Files apps seem to access files normally
Any help would be appreciated! I'm using a Verizon V20, stock OS.
Started having the same issue with my v20. Found a solution yet?
No, I'm sorry. I ended up just backing up my pictures to my computer and factory resetting my phone... I need it working correctly for work.

Yup - so far so good. I have all my apps reinstalled and accounts added...no issues. I really have no idea what happened, but definitely sounds like a V20 issue. Do you have the Verizon version too?
Oh! I just realized that I just installed the new security update the other day. I'm pretty sure it lines up with the problem starting. I bet that's the cause.

I bet the update borked the file system - not sure if there is a setting to fix it. That's a pretty big problem if it happens to everyone though.
Any other suggestion for this? I literally tried everything and I do not want to factory reset my phone. Its very frustrating!
I did the Factory Reset hoping it would be the 'fix'.
It worked for the rest of the day, then failed. I also have other Apps freezing or crashing.
After a lot of effort in a search for the solution, I slowly adopted the repetitive sentence that the phone is nearing the end-of-lifecycle and not enough time was spent making sure the update would work fluidly with all aspects of the phone. I *****ed and moaned for hours and got a nice discount to upgrade to the V40. Two days with the V40 and all is well in my world again.
Hi all,
haven't found a thread in this forum about the problem but... have someone problems with OOS 11.1.1.1 and Gmail? Mine does not sync and I lose a lot of emails. Is there a workaround/fix to resolve?
Thank you.
I'm also seeing this sporadically. The mails don't sync to the phone until I go into the Gmail app, at which point they load right away. I'm not losing any, just missing the notifications. I was seeing this on just one of my three accounts (intermittently) before the update, now all my accounts do it, still intermittently. I'm having to peek at gmail to see if anything important came in, several times an hour.
I'm still having this problem. It comes and goes. All battery optimization etc. turned off for Gmail.
Seems a general problem in OxygenOS, because other OPs have the same problem.
For what it's worth, I've booted to (stock) recovery and did a cache wipe from there. After rebooting and letting the system rebuild cache for a little while, email notifications are coming through for Gmail. I can't say how long this will last, but it does seem to be working for me at the moment. Note that doing a cache wipe from within Android/settings/apps/gmail/storage - wipe cache DID NOT fix the problem; I had tried that previously. It was doing the full cache wipe for everything in recovery mode that had a favorable effect.
FYI, Also started experiencing this issue on some custom roms running OOS 11 base. It is intermittent on both OOS 11.1.1.1 and custom roms. I get my Pixel 6 thursday and will be curious if the sync issue is present in A12.

I agree. However, it is intermittent. For example, I received the gmail notification of your reply to my xda post. Currently, using stock OOS 11.1.1.1. Anyway, 5 days til the Pixel 6 is in my hands.
Just as an update, after doing the full cache clear in the stock recovery utility, my gmail has been flawless for all three accounts.

It's funny... a day or two after I posted my "all clear, working fine" note, it stopped working again. Going back into recovery and clearing the cache again fixes it... but for how long? I don't know enough about how the cache is used for the various components to guess what's going on. I recall from previous efforts that clearing JUST the GMAIL cache wasn't a solution immediately after the upgrade. So it's probably some other Google component cache getting bogged down.

I don't use the calendar for much since I'm really tied into my work calendar on another phone. My wife uses the calendar, on an account we share (so of course I get all of HER notifications, <facepalm>, but they are rare enough that I can't really track how faithfully it is working.

Hmm, wondee what they fixed then
Just updated to the new patch 11.1.2.2 last night. Did a recovery reboot and cleared cache. Will now observe to see if the two problems I've had (gmail stops getting push updates and pedometer dies in Google fit after a day or so following reboot) go away. I will update once I have data.
Is there already a permanent fix now?
