Hello,
I am a mobile technician in a shop in Spain. I get many Samsung S4 i9505 to repair because they stop recognizing the SIM card from other companies like Vodafone, DIGI, Movistar, Simio, Amena O2, Hits, Amena, etc except ORANGE. Orange is the only one that is always recognized and able to make calls.
With the SIM card of the companies mentioned above, the device says " NO SIM CARD INSERTED "
What I've done so far is:
Tested with different Stock / Custom ROM ( 4.3 / 4.4.4 / 5.0 / 5.0.1) Including pits / modems
Replaced the SIM card reader (different versions of sim card slot reader REV 1.3 / REV 0.3 / REV 0.6)
Looked with the microscope to check if there is any corrosion around the connectors
I am sure that there must be a chip that has to be replaced or re-flowed..
any help would be very much appreciated as I have over 10 devices with the same problem.
:silly:
UPDATE****
I think typing this post inspired me and found the problem.
The issue is the NFC IC that is causing the issue - had to be re-flowed

I managed finally to unlock my LG Quantum with Rebel SIM II product. For my suprise in addition to Rebel SIM, USB Smart Card reader were also included in package.
Before Rebel SIM method. I tried unlocking codes without luck. My device was eventually in such state that it was prompting PUK and then PIN code in loop - entering PUK code or unlock code in prompt didn't help. I also tried flash between AT&T <-> Bell firmwares, no luck.
And of course Rebel SIM wasn't working straight from box.. I tried it on several unlocked handsets and got "no SIM card found" error.
The solution were to reflash Rebel SIM card, which of course had some issues when doing it on Windows 7.
Here are the instructions to flash Rebel SIM card firmware. Some one of you might be luckier and the Rebel SIM card works just out of box.. Or you might not need the workaround for Smart Card Win7 driver. It all depends what OS or Smart Card reader you are using.
*** I don't take any responsibility if you break something, or the trick just don't work for you ***
A. Download from Rebel SIM
===========================
1. Firmware (rebel-II_v1.cardfm) for rebel SIM
* http://rebelsimcard.com/virtu/images/downloads/rebel-II_v1.cardfm
2. Rebel Configurator software
* http://rebelsimcard.com/index.php?dispatch=attachments.getfile&attachment_id=79
B. Installing Smartcard reader driver for Windows 7
===================================================
1. Plugin Smart Card reader to USB port
2. Wait until Windows 7 installs driver from Windows Update, it will fail installing one driver.
3. Go to Device Manager, and look for Smart Card device without proper driver
4. Right click Smart Card device -> Update driver software->Browse computer for software->Let me pick
5. Select "Smart Card Filter" from "Common hardware types" list
C. Flashing Rebel SIM firmware
==============================
1. Plugin Smart Card reader to USB port with Rebel SIM card + dummy SIM
2. Open Rebel Configurator software
3. Re-select FT SCR 2000 0 from reader dropdown list (will reread Smart Card)
-> File loaded
-> FT SCR 2000 0
-> 3B 96 11 40 .........
-> Standard card in reader
4. Open custom firmware
- rebel-II_v1.cardfm
5. Write firmware & presets
hi guys, I've exactly the same problem with mine quantum, but I missed something, how this rebel simcard works? it unlocks the simcard instead of the cell phone? making it looks like the official carrier that was preset at factory? my quantum is at&t locked, and I'm trying to use an Oi (brazil carrier) simcard.

Hello i`ve checked dozens of disassemble videos for the phone. But i guess the sim & Sd card slot is attached to the motherboard and not easily changeable. I found this guy sells replacement parts for it. But i dont know how to put ? Is it hard ? Do i need to solder something ? How does it works ?

Hello,
I updated my 900FD (XSG) from G900FDXXU1CPE1/CPB4 (mai 2016) to 900FDXXU1CPF4/CPB4 (june 2016) through OTA last week.
Since then I can no longer use data plan from sim2.
Configuration: French Sosh Sim1, French Bouygues Sim2
I tried both sim alone, regardless of slot 1 or slot 2: data plan OK
I tried both sim in a galaxy S6 (single sim): data access OK --> the sim cards are fine
The issue appears only if both cards are inserted, and Sosh card is in slot 1.
The issue is: data plan starts (or sometimes not) works for maximum 15s, and then stops.
I can't blame any operators, as sim cards and networks are fine, it's just the combination described above which fails !
I am using Sosh in slot 1 and Bouygues in slot 2 for the past 2 months without any issue (previous rom)...
I finally found that the Sosh card is NFC (NFC N9), whereas Bouygues card seems not to be NFC (nothing indicated).
NFC is off in the settings of the phone.
I am used to have personnal card in slot1 and Work card in slot2 for phone access, and don't want to try a firmware downgrade (downgrade may be risky).
Is anybody here have and idea how to sort out my issue ?
Regards,
Fred
I installed a stock ROM on my XT1680 which didnt have apps from my old cellphone service provider (TELCEL on Mexico) because i use another one (Weex on Mexico) however, i entered my TELCEL SIM Card, but a "Telcel" app appeared, then i went back using the newer sim Card (from Weex). Does this (insert a TELCEL SIM Card) change the update channel or anything like that? I'm afraid that i will get the updates through Telcel.
