Well after that wonderful meltdown in the development section by the King, I wonder who is next up to bat for a 3.5 rom. Functioned pretty well, I am not developer by any means so I wouldn't know where to start.
i was wondering the same thing. i was thinking of changing the boot animation & wallpaper, then post it up as "team WTF Runny" all input accepted, then talk to the guy who did the whole "4.5" & ask him to use it as the base.
& i Promise to give everyone "Net-Cred"( yep im still using it )

I hope nobody does, teach these fools a lesson in matters. No wonder why everyone is jumping ship, people have 0 appreciation for the work and time these devs put into these projects. There is a huge difference between constructive criticism and being a total ass.

I was (and still am) prepared to wait for a ROM that is ready for prime time. Some people got all critical when this and that did not work... but read the title of the thread. It was a WIP / Beta... really should have been called (pre)Alpha. Fun to play with if you have the time but don't get upset when you can't send a MMS.
I am waiting for a Sprint based 3.5 ROM to be ported... I think that will be much more productive. Until then... MikG!

Are you experiencing this?
1. Spending most of your time in the forum pressing F5 to see some new updates to flash?
2. Asking repeated ETA?
3. Feeling frustrated waiting for the new release?
4. Cant sleep thinking about the new ROM.
5. Holding your phone the whole day?
If you feel some of those symptoms then be very aware.
Remember that we control the device not the device controls us.
Dont ever exchange the precious happy moments you should have to spend with your family and friends rather than stressing yourself at the forum.
We do all the fun here for free, so it should be done as well in our free time.
We do all of this stuff also for fun, so it should be fun, not hurt feelings nor frustration.
Most of us didnt understand that dev/mods are people too, they are not paid they do service for free.
If someone troll/flame we react as well harsely, should it always have to be harsh? cant we speak nicely? What is the difference when you say it in a nice way rather than the other way?
If you feel anger/annoyed about what you read then stay away on your pc/laptop/mobile. Deep breath will help or a lil walk.
If you feel tired, then rest and work again if you regain strenght.
Life is short so dont let machine rule us. I know we feel happy and fun about this stuff but too much is dangerous.
The no. 1 rule I guess here in the forum is "TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM TREAT YOU".
If you troll/flame then dont expect that people will help and be nice at you.
If you ask nicely and help, well there will be so much help for you when you face problem.

I won't bother on the first things about "obsession", but on your thoughts about behaviour.
First of all, there are actually people here who are devs and they speak to people far worse than the usual "trolls". Yet no one says anything exactly because they are devs, even though there are some examples of them acting like this before even posting anything worthy.
Next, I will never agree with the "devs do this with no money blah blah" yes ok, we do understand that, we respect that, we utterly appreciate that, but that doesn't mean that they are above criticism.Don't forget that it was their choice to post their work in public, so justified criticism must be expected.
Having said that,I also say I really appreciate people that are not devs, yet they do make roms but they behave people with some humility.
If someone annoys us, it's not always us that have to "take a breath", it may be that the person is really annoying.
And last, no, the device doesn't control us.It affects us though to the extent of lagging, for example, when you mostly need it. Imagine having to make an extremely important phone call, and then it decides to lag as hell and fc everything.This is why I don't think people that press F5 to see if there's development on their favourite rom, are obsessed.

I know what you are trying to say on your first paragraph. I know some people do speak maturely, I wrote it in general so that message is for everyone and thanks for emphasizing your observation.
If your talking about donations involved well arent they worthy? But if your doubting maybe you could ask them. Heres the truth. The benefit of being "Recognized Developer" here in the forum is just the tag itself if we are talking about money here. Aside from that nothing except on the donations they got from there work. I dont know if I understand you well ("devs do this with no money blah blah") correct me if Im wrong.

Ofcourse its always us. Why? Coz simply we cannot control nor mandate on the "annoying person". If they are pure evil they will just laugh at you which causes more annoyance and worst anger on you. So as long as you can run from it run.
The setup of our device actually depends on us. Take note that device has limitations if you exceed on that certain limitations then expect that there will be problem along the way. We will not experience any lags, error etc if we do not over push our device to its extent. Whos to blame the device, the rom? I dont think so
We do this to improve our device yes thats why its up to us to pick with suites on our needs.
Again Im happy to read some people who do care

First, I was not talking about donations.I believe that every one who is able to donate to the devs, should do this, simply because devs spend time from their life to make these roms. I was trying to say that, while I really appreciate these people, that doesn't mean we should always hush on things they say, and mistakes they make...
i don't really agree with you on the part that we push out devices...It's not that much to ask from a phone to make a call or send an sms, when you have minimum apps installed and no other apps running... I am saying this because I have experienced this, this is clear, and there where times where the rom simply failed to do so while others managed.
That's why I am saying that, for example, when people are on MiniCm9 thread all day is because it is very good so far, there's only on big thing missing, and since weeks ago we had news that camera is working, partially though, it's not that weird that people are all over it...
Not to take account how much people had been waiting for a fully working ICS.
Finally though, I do have to agree about many people being so completely obsessed and also asking too many things from poor X8. The device itself is amazing, considering that it was released 1.5 year ago and with a small price, and it's a born survivor(this device has been through everything-falls, sand, water, not to mention endless messing with kernels and such), but we have to accept that we won't get fireworks from it...

I'm 21 going on 22 years old on may 10th (I'm probably the youngest here ?). I do boring warehouse work in the Houston TX area and wish I could find a better paying job.
I've always been into the techy stuff, my first Android phone was the Galaxy S3 and I was running Goodness from team nocturnal at the time. It was a great community and that's where my themeing journey started

My real name is Seth, in 28, and I work in law enforcement, hence the profile photo. It's also the reason you won't see tons of posts by me because I don't always have the time to post or comment.
Ive been on Android since the HTC came out but I started in the custom ROMs with the S3 on Goodness by Team Nocturnal. After that I got the S4 and became part of the sac23 family where I had the pleasure of testing ROMs and themes. I've tried out different ROMs from time to time to see what was out there but always navigated back to sac. When I got the S5 I was disappointed that sac wasn't gonna be producing any real ROMs of his own for the phone as he's gotten so busy with other devices. However I have always run a ROM that he was a part of in development. Which has brought me over to the MOAR family. It's nice to see a lot of familiar faces from the sac23 ROM family here.
I'm an avid firearms enthusiast and gamer as well, when I have the spare time. Lol.

Hi my name is Andrea and I'm ......... old. :silly: I live in NY and work for a city agency in lower Manhattan. I love love love MOAR!! I started out my journey with smartphones with an EPIC touch. Really enjoyed that phone, especially being able to use the slide out keyboard. Not a fan of virtual keyboards. Bought my rooted S3 on ebay. The guy I bought it from continued to give me updates from time to time and when I switched to S5, he helped me again for a bit but eventually he couldn't help anymore and I was left with a rooted phone and absolutely no idea of what I was doing. Thankfully I found help from some folks in another forum and learned all about rooting and flashing and doing things for myself. I tried a few different roms on my S3 and eventually found my way to MOAR and haven't looked back since. I agree wholeheartedly - our little community of MOAR users is like family!! A few black sheep but I guess every family has those!!

Ok I'll go. Real name as Brian I'm 37 and I manage a retail store for a Sprint Preferred retailer. Prior to Sprint I spent a lot of time in the car business. My first android was the thunderbolt by htc and have been rooting ever since. I think we should start a support group for former zip drive users. I think I still have one somewhere. Too bad computers don't have parallel ports anymore.

This might be a dumb question, but i'm quite certain i'm not the only one wondering. Is anyone working on any ROMs for the v20? I know jc cracked root and recovery fairly quickly. Is anyone working on any roms? I'd love to test out Cyan ....its been years.
Pretty sure LG hasn't released the source code yet, and we still don't have the dll needed for unbricking using LGup. It's only been a month since the phone was released, chill.
I think once we get a way to flash tot/kdz people will be more willing to experiment.

Ah, got ya. I'm not in a hurry, i just didn't know exactly what the roadblock was, or if there was one. That makes more sense now.

I can't speak for anyone other than myself,but,it's generally considered rude/needy asking for ROMS & ETA's for such.If you don't believe me take a look around XDA & the rules for all who enter here.
Seriously,only one model has an unlockable bootloader ATM & it has only been available officially since 10/28/16.
On top of that,Android 7.0 is a new OS with only a handful of phones running it,so,you may wanna temper your expectations for development a bit............................

Perhaps you can show me where i asked for an ETA??? Seriously though, i'm not trying to be rude or demand anything. I simply asked if anyone was WORKING on roms. I didn't say "WHEN IS THIS COMING OUT?!" or anything like that. Delete it if you want, i was just curious to see if/what people were working. Someone above nicely informed me that certain software was needed before anyone could start developing, which makes sense.
What doesn't make sense, is calling me childish, selfish, etc, for asking if anyone is developing anything. It's so ridiculous that i can't ask a simple question without people jumping down my throat. I've been on this forum for almost 10 years and it didn't used to be like this.
LG is not a very popular brand that does not attract devs. Even the Pixel doesn't even have roms. The days of roms are numbered sadly.

JCadduono, the guy who gave us root shell and TWRP, is working on getting Kali Nethunter rom working right now. He is really good and I know he will get it working.

NP, if you find out about any others let me know.
I understand that the second screen caused problems in the V10 development. That'll likely be an issue with this phone as well.

You more than likely aren't going to see a cyanogen rom, they still don't have a working one for the v10... The second screen kills it...

People I think a quick no or explanation of the phone is too new would of just been fair instead of bashing the guy. The OMG don't ask for eta's rule doesn't really come in to play here

Here's my take on it. For one why would anyone buy a device like this to put cm on it? Like seriously that would be just silly. That's what nexus devices are for! I highly doubt there will be many roms that aren't just the standard stock debloated/deodexed. And those aren't even features. My advice is stay stock and use xposed if it comes out. I highly doubt there's gonna be any ground breaking features added to any rom.
Plus all the devs are switching to iPhones now! lol

Just a little lost this afternoon after not having checked the forum for a couple of days, a lot seems to have happened. Very sad to see Nfound moving on from our beloved Axon 7, and a little lost now as to what will happen to those of us on any of Nfound's builds (AEX here).
Noticed he did release the AOSP source for 8.x though, hopefully one of the other Devs here on the forum can do a few things with it ?
Sorry if there's already a discussion on this somewhere else, couldn't find anything so thought I'd ask.
Got all the donation he can get from here and leave when he saw that he will not get donation further.
IMO,that's a very cheap mentality.

maybe....he just has other things going on in his life that require more attention?
and also, maybe he just does not feel satisfied with pouring hours and hours in making ROMs and he seeks other challenges?

I've been through your 309 posts, and couldn't find ANY trace of ANY donation made to him, when he:
- Managed TWRP and made TREBLE possible
- Managed several Roms at once
- etc
Unless proven otherwise, you're just another freeloader with NOTHING to talk about.
We should all be gratefull for having treble and a vendor partition that allows us to get LOS 16 as a daily driver in less than 5 minutes and a few clicks.
- I BET that the donations he gets from XDA might account for less than 1000$ a YEAR, which is MISERABLE considering the COUNTLESS hours he did put around our device, which is MORE than ZTE ever did in the last year (remember the oreo ROM isnt even FINISHED by ZTE)
Final thoughts : URGH.
I donated 10 euros to the dude on PayPal. It's definitely a small amount but nonetheless, at the point when I decided to donate, I felt that nfound already earned that money (he earned a lot more in truth but I could not afford more at the time)
At no point I expected that I'm subscribing to a service from nfound, or expected a thanks or anything at all really.
So while you're entitled to your opinion, free world as you said, I'm entitled to mine, and my opinion is that you have no right to make accusations of that sort. It's amazing to me that people share their work with us and help us make the best of our phones. These devs "donate" hundreds of hours of their lives to us and all you have to say is "that's a very cheap mentality." when the guy dared to take some time off for himself.

Devs come and devs go. It's always been that way, always will be. xda moves on.
The best measure of a dev's "success", IMO, is the number of downloads of the ROM(s).
I should think that NFound can be proud of that.
