Charging slowly message - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

So I have a strange problem. A few days ago I discovered the phone was charging so slowly and on the lock screen a text appeared: "Charging slowly". It's equivalent to USB charging with a PC or notebook. However I use wall charger the same as before, from October 2017. Ok, I thought the charger has some failures, tried an other one. Same.. "Charging slowly" (I used this second charger before and it worked well..) Then I changed the cable. Same message (I also used this cable so 100% it's not defective).
I tried 3 roms. Refleashed the stock, RR and AEx. Tried different kernels: void, mint, franco. Nothing has changed.
May it be a hardware-related issue?
Thank you

Hi did you managed to find a fix?
I am having the same issue - lock screen a text appeared: "Charging slowly". Switched few cables still having same problem. I am convinced is not cable or charger issue.

Your wall charger is most likely the problem, even official can fail, you need a powerful aftermarket to test, it could be the cable but most likely the charger no providing enough power.
No A1 but android, see here: https://android.stackexchange.com/q...d-phone-charging-slowly-how-to-make-it-faster

I use either samsungs ep-ta20ewe or lg's mcs- h04er charging between 1600-2000 mA in accubattery pro.

I've switched few cables and 2A chargers. All getting the same "Charging slowly message"

The reason why most of you are charging so slow is because most likely, your phones are warm
As soon as the battery reaches 38°c, charging begins to slow down and will continue to be slow unless you cool the phone down

The battery temp is ok. 34°C

Solution: USB module replacement
I got back my A1 about two weeks ago. The service replaced the USB module at the bottom of the phone and now it works. I used a Tronsmart QC2 charger before. Since it's been repaired I use the stock charger. I was a bit curious and tried a few days ago with the Tronsmart. Same message: "charging slowly".
I think my Tronsmart charger is deffective and now I avoid using it..
Sum up, the repair shop diagnosed the problem. The phone became deffective but they are not sure why. The USB module replace turned it good again but with the Tronsmart charger it still doesn't work. I have to use the stock charger.
(also works with other chargers from my old Samsung phones). Interesting.
(they changed the USB module under warranty, but otherwise it costs in Hungary 10 000 HUF (~31 EUR, ~36 USD).
(refer to my thread opening post, before the USB replacement, the charging with the stock one was as slow as with other chargers, ~200mah, after replacement it's ~1800mah again)

I replaced the A1 USB C module and this fixed the problem

The same solution as in my case. Nice to hear it fixed this annoying issue.

I was running into the same problem, but after 2 months of replacement I got the message of charging slowly again. Been trying to change the adapter and cable but still not working, til I got the idea to use my mac's charger and it works. I don't know why, anyone's having this issue?

Install Ampere from the Play store and check the speed. It should be ~1400mha.

Having the same issue but i found a tricky solution
I am currently running dotOS and earlier I was on Pixel Experience...on the lock screen i used to get this message along with the current and the voltage readings (mA and V) so all I did was I tried to remove and put the cable back in the phone and everytime the values changed a bit....doing this 3-4 times gave me the reading around (1700-2000) mA and 3(.9-4.1)V and the message said charging...and sometimes it said charging rapidly....and if it didn't work out then I flipped the cable( like I was putting the USB in the wrong direction).....WORKS EVERY TIME

Phone won't charge via wall adapter

I tried two different wall chargers and the phone won't charge. It says it's charging but it doesn't do anything. Charging via USB is far too slow. I remember seeing another thread and a member recommended going into the battery diagnostics and exiting. I tried that and it worked for a day, but now it's doing the same thing. I tried calling Samsung, but they're giving me a run-around and I'd like to avoid them if necessary. Anyone have any tips?
Take it back where you got it, explain the problem and ask for an exchange. If it won't charge off the wall adapter there's obviously a problem somewhere that's beyond user control.
Just to be clear, you're having issues charging it off of the included wall adapter with the included USB cable attached to both the phone and the wall? I've had issues charging it off of non-official power sources.

Yes, I got it semi-working today. It will charge, but extremely slowly. I've left it the since last night and it's only charged 49%. I've called Samsung and they told me that I can't get a warranty replacement (I got it on Kijiji, it was working fine for a while).
Well trouble shooting 101...hard reset the device
leave it on the charger till it is 100%. The battery might need to cablibrate itself once from the intial charge.
But really you should bring it back to the place and receive a replacement...it sounds like a likely to be software defect but could just as well be a hardware defect. Or you might have a faulty wall adapter.

[Q] Galaxy S4 won't charge

I should clarify the title by saying that trying to charge this phone is resulting in a number of odd results.
So firstly, I've tried using the wall-mounted AC charger. I then tried using USB on my computer, in 3 different usb ports. The phone was charging perfectly less than 24 hours before this problem began.
I plugged it in as per usual, and it didn't show the little lightning bolt on the batter icon like it should. It wasn't registering that it was plugged in. I tried plugging it into my PC, and it wasn't showing that it was connected via USB. In addition to that, my computer was failing to install the drivers for it. I went back to the AC charger, and tried a few different outlets, including one on a power strip. Nothing worked.
I searched online, and found that other people had this problem, and could only fix it by resetting to factory default settings. One person even had to do it twice to get it to work. So I did this, and it still didn't work. I tried charging my old phone with this Ac charger and cable, and it wouldn't work either. So I thought it must be a fault in the cable. So I dug up the cable (also micro-usb) for my old phone, and tried it. It worked just fine for my old phone, but my S4 still had the same problem, but with something new. It would say "Dock connected" but still not charge.
As of right now, it seems to be charging properly with my new AC mount and old usb cable, but I'm worried that this could happen again. Considering this seems to be a problem for other people too, what should I do about it? Is there some way to prevent this sort of thing from happening? Was it purely the other cable, given the fact that it didn't work with my old phone either? I'm on an extremely tight budget, and this phone is my only way of being contacted for job interviews, so having it in working order is very important. Any advice would be very appreciated!
Having exactly the same problem... couldn't find over the internet a solution yet or a position about it...
Affraid it's a hardware issue and have to send to the assistance...
Anyone know what to do?
Yup having the same issues - but i noticed only having charging issues when battery reaches 20% or the low battery notification pops up
it detects that a usb is connected but it wont charge
Solutions:
- dont let it go below 20 which is ****
- some people claim that if you use a 5pin charger instead of the 4pin which samsung includes solves the prob
Mine is a little more serious I think... haven't found a solution like that yet.
I have to connect/disconnect multiple times and it suddenly works.
But between those connects/disconnects it presents multiple problems, it appears on notification bar "Dock Connected", sometimes appears "Dock Connected" and on the notification bar appears "Suggested Apps (Anchoring)", other times it appears "Dock Connected" and the volume bar appears on the screen and stay there freeze (the phone works, but the bar doesn't disappear)... Sometimes the phone starts charging and suddenly stops, other times it says it's charging and if I remove the charger it keeps the charging symbol on the battery icon...
It's completely crazy, gonna take to service I guess.
Have you tried blowing out the usb connector on the phone with a can of compressed air?
If there is a minute piece of dust there it may be shorting something out - error that dock is connected. I know this happens to other phones, there was a big thread about it on the S3 forum. Might be a simple little thing like that...
Unfortunately that doesn't work for me, will send to service, let's see.
have you solved this problem and how?????

Yep, chalk up one more with the same problem!
At first I thought it had something to do with Aviate, a custom launcher from Yahoo (actually a pretty sweet one at that!)
But I guess not.
My work-around is to reboot the phone while connected. It charges fine while turned off and seems to keep charging when booting while plugged in.
Still... this is a stupid work-around and I want this fixed properly.
Any news from any of you guys?

Had this problem today. Suddenly out of nowhere "Dock is connected" message appeared after plugging the charger in and out. Tried to clean out the dock with stick and cotton on the edge. Then turned off and plugged in charger. Problem exists. Phone charges but stops regularly. It is very annoying when you dont know how to fix this kind of problem.
Any new solutions?
Right after this post, I froze the app "battery doctor 4.9.2" using Titanium Backup Pro (you can just uninstall it i guess). Then just plugged charger and now it's already Almost 90% without any interruption.

Amazing! I've dealing with this problem for weeks and internet didn't give me any good answer, but the whole problem was a baterry monitor apk that for some reason was interfiering with the charger. Thank you so much!
I had this problem too and in my case it was a hardware problem. When i start the charging it kept repeating the start proces of charging with the vibration and the grey battery icon(in case the phone was turned off). The battery icon with the green charging light just didn't showed up. I tried many things but nothing helped. I let the phone keep charging for the whole night but in the morning i saw that it didn't charged anyway!
Then i went to a local phone reparation shop(none official samsung) and they knew immediately recognized the problem and it was the usb/charging connector where you plug it in the phone. They fixed it in 1 hour for a cheap price and from then(i think a few months ago) it charges back perfectly. It seems it's a disease with S4's.
In my previous post I was happy thinking that all this charging problems were solved after uninstalling battery apk. But, in fact, my S4 charges very slowly after that incident. I have tried two other samsung adapters (galaxy s4 mini; grand prime). First one results the same (up to 5 hours charging), the latter was comparably shorter (up to 3 hours), but still slower than it used to be (2 hours normally). So I highly suspected the hardware might be the reason. Thank you for your information, now I will also have the phone checked at some local repair shop. And give feedback of course.

You probably got some water damage in your port. What you need to do is clean it. I used pure alcohol and a toothbrush for that. After that I flashed a custom kernel so I could enable fast charge true usb.
That's the reason your phone is charging slowly, it thinks it's connected true usb. So you need to boost the usb charging. After a few charge cycles I could revert back to my standard kernel and the problem was fixed.
I think ur right Lenny.
Mine S4 got wet last weekend and now i am also getting the " Dock is connected" message when i plug in the charger cable.
I can charge my phone but sometimes while charging i hear the sound go off and on what you hear when unplugging the charger.
I will try your solution and hope it will fix mine too. Thanks for posting ur tip!
I suggest you go buy a new genuine cable for an s4, the s4 does actually require a special cable capable of 2A charge rate otherwise you can end up in all sorts of bother.
Thank you all for sharing tips. I cleaned the port as suggested, then replaced my cable. Now everything is back to normal.

Same problem - galaxy s6
Hi there - same problem, on my 128gb s6. started this morning. Yesterday everything fine, would charge when connected via USB to both laptop and to regular samsung usb power unit. Have now tried 3 different USB cables including the samsung cable, 3 different usb power units and of course tried all 3 cables in laptop usb port. Have checked phone's usb port - clean as a whistle. Have rebooted both connected and unconnected. Started getting 'dock connected' message, now it just wont charge, although starts up fine. I take very good care of the phone, so no water damage or untoward shock damage (never get it wet, never drop it). Remaining battery charge seems to fluctuate between 30% and 40+ %, depending upon whether it's plugged in or not. If I turn it off, then connect usb cable, the phone just reboots, still not charging. I then turn it off and see no green battery charging screen, as I used to seen when connected but turned off. Should I just hard reset and take to repair shop? Still under warranty.
I would return the phone for a warranty repair. Software would not usually prevent the phone from charging when powered off.
As a final test, see if the s6 will charge wirelessly, assuming you have access to a qi charging pad and the s6 has a built-in qi receiver like the North American version of the s6.

Charger not working properly

Lately I've been having issues with my phone and charging. It started with the stock OEM charger getting steadily harder and harder to use.. so I bought an Aukey charger to replace it with and it completely refuses to work on my phone, so I tried another phone and tablet and it works great. I tried my super old Galaxy note 2 charger with a motorola usb cable from my maxx and it works fine... I then tried that usb cable on the aukey QC 2.0 charger and it won't work... tried the same cable again on my phone with the sammy charger and it worked... tried a QC 3.0 aukey wall charger and it won't work... yet I have a QC 2.0 incipio car charger. it was working with the USB moto cable I've had in my car since I got my Bionic... then it just stopped charging my phone, got a new USB and it works great now except the moto usb will work for friends, just not my phone.
I have absolutely no idea what's causing this... I thought maybe there was lint in the charging port so I took a tootpick and cleaned it out, got a small piece of lint, same thing with all the chargers. I can't find anything online, and being a tinkerer I've tried everything I can think of before asking. I'm starting to think the phone itself is having problems and the port is actually bad or there's something wrong in the software causing it to have problems with turbo or QC chargers.
any ideas?
There is a general inconsistency with this device and Quick Chargers... if you look in the Accessories area there are several threads discussing it.
Personally, I use the Aukey QC 2.0 charger for travel with an Eversame premium braided cable and it works fine, yet others use the same combination and it won't Turbo charge or in some cases charge at all.
I also face the same issue. Some USB cables work with my Moto X Style and some doesn't .
i am having an even worse issue and i am sure its a software problem, recently my moto x stopped charging using the moto charger so in the last two months i have 4 different chargers who worked for some time each now it just doesnt work at all, i have cleaned the port numerous times then it just stopped working so when the phone finally died all of a sudden it started charging but as soon as it switched to turbo mode the charge would stop and start over again. i have deduced its a software problem as once the phone tries to go to turbo charging mode it cant sustain the charge and cancels it. amphere even shows its discharging while on the charger , however if it starts charging while the phone is off with a low voltage adapter and turn on the phone once you dont remove the cable it will charge (extremely slowly but it will charge).

FYI... There is no software problem with charging, if there was it would affecting hundreds of thousands of people. And I doubt you have 2 software problems, a bad kernel and a bad bootloader/recovery image, because 2 different things control charging when powered on and powered off.
Issue here is you likely have a high resistance connection somewhere between the USB port and the battery itself, or a bad charging circuit... It's hardware.
while i can understand where you are coming from when the phone is in factory mode (motorola customer care told me to try) its charging fine also turbo charging is working now just it doesnt recognize the sim card. it was a suggestion from Motorola customer service desk, as i live outside of the us they gave me some options to try. they said it was a software glitch where the phone may have gotten an overload from a bad connection and caused the phone to not recognize the charger. however while the phone is off this check is not performed which is why i was getting a lower amp charger to work as the phone did not have to enable the protocol that allows for quick charge/turbo charge voltages.

Slow charging

Hi,
My moto x pure started charging really slow out of nowhere
Yesterday when i connected it to the turbo charger the message (turbo power connected) didnt showed up so i thought it had something to do with the cable, i changed it to another but the message still wasnt showing. I also tried with my power bank with turbo charger and it wont show up either.
I can live without the turbo charger, but not with how slow it is charging, in the Ampere app it show that is charging at 400 ma.
Is there something i can do? I already wiped the cache and depleted the battery but the problem is still there. At home i will do a factory reset, but i dont have a lot of faith in it.
Also i havent rooted or unlocked the bootloader, it has android 6.0
The end on your turbo charger cord is worn out most likely.
Its not that, i tried with 3 different cables that i knew already work with turboCharger and still wont charge at a normal speed.
I cleaned the phone usb port but didnt do anything, now i want to try with some isopropyl to see if i can clean them.
Anyone got an idea what could be? I already did a factory reset.

The possibilities are pretty limited... list them in order of difficulty to test:
USB Cord
Turbocharger AC adapter
USB port in phone
Battery
Honestly, I would lean towards 1 or 2, the turbo charger that comes with these devices has been known to be of... umm... less than exceptional quality. Otherwise, it is not unheard of for the USB port in the phone to go bad, and the battery is likely pushing 2 years old.

Moto Turbo Chargers are low quality, mine stopped working 2 months in. So I got a 3rd party quick charger. No problems since.
i have battery charging issues as well!!
Shows as USB charger Turbo charger not working even don't show as AC mode! Basically just don't charge only with PC and USB cable! It's original turbocharger and USB connector is fine because it's working fine with PC!
I already have done 3 factory reset from menu and from recovery menu but no success sadly it's very odd issue! Basically every wall charger appear like "USB Charger" no AC or Turbocharger! But connector is fine because it's working fine with PC!
Nothing appears! Only shows charging next to clock but only about 20-30 second After that doesn't show any charging! But very slowly charging 6-7 hours to full.Maybe it's just a coincidence but 2 days after 7.0 update this issue started! I think that connector is fine because with PC it's working fine and transfer files or charging fine
Same happening here just 2 days ago, anyone find a solution?
I had this same problem from today. Today morning turbocharged by my friend's Moto turbocharger. Today evening I use my 2different turbocharger it's not charge quick and very slow charging...
Same here..stock, never unlocked. On latest updates. XT1575 A0.52
Accubattery shows its getting 247mA from a Samsiung Adaptive charger (which always showed up before as a turbo charger, and does fast charge samsung phones.)

My stock charger discharges the phone

Hello,
I just got my lg g6 and when i charge up the phone with the stock charger i encounter an issue.
The phone recognize the quick charge and all but instead of charging up the battery lose percentages and never really charge up.
The cable is correctly inserted both to the charger and to the phone, if i use a non quick charge charger everything works fine so the cable shouldn't be the issue.
In addition, the phone from time to time behaves like the charging disconnects and reconnects. The screen turns on and i see the message "charging" which immediately turn to "quick charging" like if i just inserted the cable, but the battery keeps being drained or just stays at the same %.
I also noticed a very strange battery graph. i'd post a picture but i can't upload images or put links at the moment.
in the time period that it was charging with the stock charger the graph presents a series of blank colums that interrupts the graph and the segmented line is trending downward.
I thought that maybe could be a faulty charger, but i tried it on other phones ( htc one and a lg g3 non qc capable) and it charges them totally fine. So now i really have no idea what could be wrong.
I have stock firmware, no root and locked bootloader.
Any ideas?
Download ampere from play store and see if it really charge
Inviato dal mio LG-H870 utilizzando Tapatalk
I already checked and it shows as charging.
The speed is turbo as well.
Ampere shows a charging value goes from 40mA to peaks of 1200-1300mA (very rare and immediately drop afterward)
I just tested and did a 30 minute charge session, it started at 54% and finished at 53%...
Monday arrives a new quick charge 3.0 charger. If that works i guess i'll blame the stock charger. Otherwise i could think of replacing the phone...
Most of the time this is due to the USB type C connector (both ends) getting dirty/dusty. I just dusted it out with compressed air and it worked fine again. A friend with a Aalaxy A5 (2017) also had this exact problem. Give that a shot and let us know.
I had a spare can of compressed air. Dusted both the usb-c on the cable and the phone and the standard usb male and female on the cable and charger. Waited for any condensation to go away, plugged it in and charged for another 10 minutes but still nothing.
The phone and charger are 4 days old and i bought them from amazon so no egdy e bay sellers. I find it hard i could be something like dust or anything. Anyway now all connectors are squeaky clean but the problem persists.
Frequent disconnections ( i get the bottom text "current connected" even if the cable is still in ) and the battery refuses to go up even 1%.
The strangest thing is that on normal charge with my old g3 it works fine, could it be that quick charge and normal charge are on different circuits? Maybe just the QC one is faulty.
Or even some component manages it with the standard 5v current but when it ramps up to 9 with the QC it gives up.
Sadly i know too little of this stuff to actually come up with a plausible explanation
I would return it as doa.
Ughh i'm gonna wait tomorrow and test with another charger.
I would really hate having to set the whole phone up again from scratch...
If by any chance you have to replace the G6, make a backup with LG Back up on you SD card. When you get the new phone you restore the backup and you 95% done.
Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk
The charger arrived and everything works now.
I was just unlucky thay i got a faulty stock charger.
Might do some test with the cable as well just to check if it works properly.
Thank you for all the replies!
