ZTE Axon 7 Enhanced Force touch screen replacement? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

What's up Axon Community!
If you have a ZTE Axon 7 Enhanced version with screen problems and you like your Force touch option good luck trying to find a pressure sensitive screen for it. I've been trying to find one for a while because mine developed the sad but true, AMOLED burn-in issue from hell! Very frustrating for this beautiful beast of a machine...
So if you have any luck with a find would you please let us know.
Thank you

Lol, your screen might have been lower quality or something. I actually wondered whether burn-in still appeared on these new (new when i bought mine at least) Samsung panels, and after about a year of using curved corners as an experiment, I have literally no focused degradation besides some imperceptible factory defect with very dark gray on a dark room.
Could you send some pics? It's pretty interesting. maybe if you use one of those burn in mitigation apps you might be able to improve it some. but i'm pretty sure that finding a new force touch screen will be very tough.
to capture that you can use a very dark gray image on a dark room, but i guess you know that

Well bought it brand new back then in the good ole days lol and it just started this so I modified the status bar to move around every so often because that's what burned into the screen. Also them burn in repair app I left on for about 12 hours and it didn't do sh** lol, oh well I tried.
Here's a picture.

[Q] Nexus 7 screen diamond-ing

Hello, I recently bought a nexus 7 and in general I'm pretty pleased with it. However, just today which is about 4days after purchase I realized that my screen has little diamonds that were visible at a certain angle and most obvious when the screen is off. My question is whether this behavior is normal and whether I should take it for repair since it's still under warranty. It's not rooted and there isn't a screen protector for more information. Thanks.
Edit : diamonds are 5mm each

Under certain light conditions there appears to be marks in the glass and it's all diamonds tesselated together. A photo doesn't show anything but ill be uploading one in a while
I've never noticed anything like that.

Doesn't show any of the diamond-ing I saw but here it is. I could only see it when there were many lights around and only when viewing at an certain angle.
Edit : Forgot attachment
i dont think images will allow us to see the problem, maybe even point them out with a stylus ,you could use a phone to make a video panning around views, to clearly display the problem and youtube it here :good:
yes this is normal..... no worries.. new screens usually have this
you only get to see them under certain life conditions and I'm pretty sure these will fade away with wear & tear.. I used to see them when I bought my N7.... not anymore today... enjoy them

Alright. Thanks for the info.
I think you're just seeing the digitizer.. Pretty normal to see it under certain conditions. Mainly with the screen off though. You shouldnt really see anything with the screen on.

Screen has a yellow tint

I know that no one waiting for their phone wants to see a thread like this, but I got my phone today from moto and noticed that the screen has a yellow tint to it. It isn't quite as bad when it is turned all the way up, but I don't think most of us use the phone day to day at 100% brightness. The attached picture is the N6 next to my OPO. I was just curious if anyone that got theirs today noticed the same thing.
RMA
A more ironic comparison could never have been made. LOL!

I have a feeling that will ultimately be necessary. It just sucks because I REALLY don't feel like dealing with the hassle.
Thats the only benefit of Google Play.
You got your phone first but if I have to RMA (If I ever get the phone) they will send me a replacement first.
Woah the opo looks bright compared to the nexus 6. Let's wait until more of us get it before deciding to rma.
One thing is moto will do advanced rma so it won't take 2 months to return it like it did for my opo.

just looks like a warm display vs a cooler display...as in color temps. I dont see any problem with it in fact 1+1 looks too "cool" for my tastes.
Hope this isn't by design. With LCDs, this could be a bad backlight. Color temp isn't controlled by a backlight with AMOLED, though, so I'm not sure how this could be a hardware problem. More than one phone has been released where manufacturers tried the "warm" color temp route before customers complained and they patched a cooler temp. Even iPhone went through it.

I will def wait a few days and give more people a chance to get it before doing anything. And thank god for companies better than OnePlus. Well..at least better at RMA...I wouldn't say that this "launch" was much less frustrating than theirs.

Most people prefer a cooler display. If it's just the color profile, it'll be fixed by someone in a matter of days. The plus of an open phone.

I think this is right. It looks like "normal" vs "cool" display modes on my S4. I stuck with "normal".
I am sure people will come out with apps to change it, like my S4. Might have to be root/built-in custom ROM feature, though.
I mentioned this over the weekend that the nexus 6 a warmer tuned color temp to it when I compared it to my opo and g3 at the tmo store. Looks like it might be pretty prevalent.

It's usually done at the kernel level, but could be made to be adjusted outside of hardcoded settings if coded to do so.

I must have missed that post. Hopefully if most people don't like it Google with make it cooler in a future update or maybe my eyes just need to get used to more accurate color temps.

Could this be the digitizer adhesive issue we've seen before from the first phones right off the manufacturing line? Basically it's where the glue behind the screen has not fully had time to dry and go completely clear. It happened with iPhone 4s and 5 launches, HTC, Moto X, and others. It usually goes away over time, but people often get replacements anyway. Since that may be hard to do this instant, I'd say give it a week or two.

I was thinking the same thing but when I read about it online it said that most of the time if it is a glue issue then the yellowing is more splotchy and not an even full screen distribution. But either way I will give it some time to see what happens

That's awful. How did you manage to burn in the screen so quickly though? (assuming you've had it for a few days/weeks)

i have no idea, its not like ive been on non stop or anything either and ive had brightness at around 50%. this is really irritating considering its only been week though. also ill have to post pics tomorrow when i can get ahold of an actual camera my htc ones is poop and jst makes a fuzzy mess when trying to capture it. just watched the video, that is exactly what i have. wish I hadn't watched it though, since now that I looked at the status bar I notice it there too.
This is going to be a big problem for Motorola. Not seeing this yet on mine but with only a couple days left to return it I will be looking carefully. Thanks for the heads-up.
I finally had my mind made up to get this phone...I am definitely going to have to rethink that decision!
I have the same thing happening to mine. Very faintly on my device. I'm floored that its happening already. My game plan is to let it get really bad over the next year and before the warranty runs out force a replacement if it gets any worse.

same thing here. but could this problem be just merely defective unit(s) ?
I'm utterly disappointed with this news :crying:
Nothing here yet. Burn in was the one thing I disliked about my Nexus One...
Gonna use mine for 6 months and jump it for the G4 more than likely anyways.
This problem sucks for the people that buy it to use for a longer period.
G3
You mean its wrong to expect a high end device to not have any defect for more than 6 months? If that is the case for this phone, better to just avoid than.
No not at all. I mean it sucks period.. No device in this day and age should suffer from this. It won't bother me as much because I switch devices every so often. But for the people that don't, they pretty much paid high dollar for this..
G3
People adore the Moto X right, and from that video she says it exhibits the same sort of burn in... not saying its a good thing , of course not, but it depends how far it progresses , she had her Moto X for quite a bit longer and the burn in wasn't noticeable unless you really looked for it .
will have to see i guess

That sucks. I haven't noticed it on my Nexus 6, but I have the 1 yr manufacturer warranty and I bought a warranty through Squaretrade so I should be good. My friend at work who sits next to me has the Moto X 2014 and i'll be sure to mention it to him so he can keep an eye out for it.

She also did mention that the Moto X she only uses it for reviews and before that she barely used it. I had mine since monday (5 days) and while I'm not a heavy screen on user, I'm not seeing anything yet. Like others have said, if and when it gets noticeable, I'll just call my carrier and have it replaced (not a big deal).
This make me worried. I've had AMOLED phones before (Note 3, S3,S5) but I've never had any burn in. Is there a way to avoid it?

Cheap amoled panels. Motorola probably bargain binned it. Samsung probably uses the highest quality ones in their devices and then sells based on the quality of the panel.

Woah okay, if it's there in download mode I suspect a burn-in, but I'm not sure whether that's possible on an OLED screen. You might want to hand back your device depending on how long you have had it for.

No, burn-in or retention is very, very rare on LCD panels. It can happened, though. Google LG G4 screen burn in and you'll find tons of reports. My G4 had massive burn-ins.

Problem with Pixel XL screen on low brightness (mura effect)

Hi guys,
I am new here, my name is marc and i was an apple fanboy not long ago.
I bought the new Pixel XL. I did not see that in the first week, but yesterday i found someting. I can't be the only one to have this little flaw.
I was in my bed checking some dark (dark i mean not terrorist and sh** lol dark gray dark) website with the brightness low and the night mode turned on. I saw two dark (black line on dark grey) line in the bottom of my phone. When i turn the light of the display a little bit on and they dissapear. They are not easy to catch in picture with my camera because we can see it only with no brightness in the display. I googled it and i found some lookalike issue called mura effect. (Problem of fabrication of amoled screen when low voltage dont turn on pixels.)
I wanna now should i get worried, i saw that many amoled displays have this flaw that is innerant because of the fabric technique? Do those line will grow up with time? Am i the only one with pixel that have this problem, maybe you just didint see it and now you will pay attention (mouahahah ocd spoiler alert)? Is there a fix for this problem?
Keep me posted if you have the same issue with the pixel or other amoled phone as i dont want to be alone in this dark darker screen lol

Dang man! You are indeed a jerk! Haha, no I'm serious. I just checked it out and I get the same thing. Sometimes the lines if you look hard enough they'll flicker too. Not cool man. Now I feel as if something is wrong with the screen. The colors already drive me a little nuts as they're a bit oversaturated compared to lcd and retina displays. Now I'm gonna look for these lines all the time. Thanks bro
Ahahah sorry mate XD

I spoke with them also and they told me that it's only when on it's lowest brightness setting and nothing can be done as it's a software issue and not hardware. I'm starting to think they gave me the middle finger without me even knowing it. Haha

Sounds good. Looks like I just need to be persistent and adamant toward the fact that it is a 1k phone and this issue is, or at the very least, appearsrs to be hardware related. I too plan to keep the device for at least 2 years and if the hardware is already suffering a defect than I could only imagine how bad it will get from repetitive use. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted and let you know what they say when I speak to them again.

I find the lowest to still be too bright on most phones, the pixel xl included. I use an app called iris mini. There's a free version. It greatly lowers the brightness and red shifts the screen and in the week I've had the phone, I haven't noticed this issue of the mura effect. Give that app a shot next time you read in the dark. It might help.
