So, I got my 6P last monday. The Nexus Imprint seems to be missing on the security screen and the scanner does not work as when I set it up. Now when I restore the factory image it doesn't even show up in the setup like I did the first time I set up the phone. I tried clearing cache like another did on reddit per google's instuctions, but and it worked for a bit, but now it won't recognize anything at all. I am in communication with Google support, but wondering if anyone has ran into this problem?
The same thing happend to me this morning. Google Store support is sending me a replacement.
Just happened to me and I didn't even have my nexus a day. Already ordered a RMA device smh.
It happened to me after not even 4 hours of use. Mind you I set it up with one finger then deleted it. It has had maybe 10 presses.
When I try to access nexus imprint settings, I get the "unfortunately, settings has stopped" message.
I have only been configuring my device to have the same settings as my nexus 5 and deleting random google apps such as books - non essential ones then the fingerprint wouldn't respond. I'm not going to RMA the device for the failure but will try to isolate the issue and ascertain if it is hardware or software.
Yea they are replacing mine..... In the mean time it started working. So weird....
Does this actually mean its broken, though? I got this message, unlocked it with a pattern and not it works again. It might just be a process that wasn't running for some reason.

samething happned to me too. I downloaded the stock factory image (latest) and flashed and vola! it worked
Just happened to me, first time I've had a new phone go bad on me. Not excited about rma"ing it.
Wow! I just got off of a chat with Google and they need 1-4 more business days to get with me. No RMA or any type of answer. I don't get that if they have had other call in with the same issue.

Did you try to flash a stock image and see if that solved the problem? Might be something to do while you wait.

I have the same problem, i.e. no prompt about Nexus Imprint during first setup and no mention of it anywhere in the settings. I just flashed the MDB08M stock image and it didn't help. This is so weird. I guess I'm doing an RMA...

That's very strange. If I had to take a guess the imprint settings may only appear if the finger print scanner is detected as connected. Perhaps on a few units the fingerprint sensor isn't connected properly.
I want to make sure as well you guys flashed complete stock including kernel and locked the bootloader without having a corruption screen appear?

Yeah, after locking the bootloader again that boot screen disappeared and everything looks normal. I returned it to the store without any problems.
FYI, I had the same problem were suddenly my 6P fingerprint sensor stopped working. It would give me "Fingerprint sensor hardware not connected" or some similar error on the lock screen when I pressed my finger against the sensor. After a reboot the Nexus Imprint section went away in my security settings.
I contacted Google via their device support chat system, they pretty quickly jumped to a factory reset as a solution. I followed through with it and it resolved the sensor issue (during initial phone setup it worked perfectly). I prodded the tech for more information to the root cause and didn't get anywhere besides it potentially being a 3rd party app conflict.
I'm on stock Android with Feb 1 security patch and Google Fi when this happened.

I'm on Bliss too at the moment and also missing finger print.
As I also miss slim pie, I'm trying other roms too. So far all of them did have finger print working.
(Still missing Slim pie, trying Benzo rom next.)
I rooted again and flashed blissrom and it's working again now fingerprint.... I flashed the version I was on before the problem happened.... Not sure whether to update again... Maybe I will wait for the next newer version......anyway happy its working and not some hardware fault.
Hi guys
I recently bought an OnePlus 2. With the original firmware, I experienced a very strange and very annoying issue: My screen randomly turned off (e.g. during a chat in WhatsApp). The screen turns off and I have to turn it on again by pressing the power button. Then I enter my PIN to access my phone again and it locks AGAIN. This happens like 10 times in a row, then I have to reboot the phone and it was OK again. I seriously don't know what triggered this issue.
However, recently I got pissed of because I tried to call one of my customers and as soon as I entered my PIN and tried to open the phone app, the screen locked again and I almost threw away my phone. Damned troll.
So I decided to try another ROM as I thought it was an OS-related issue. Now I'm running Exodus Android 6.0.1. I did a clean install and guess what: The issue came back on this ROM...
In my opinion there's only something both installations (my previous 5.1.1 stock ROM and my current 6.0.1 ROM) have in common: I've been using XPosed with Amplify, Greenify and XPrivacy. Other than that, I have no idea what it might be.
Have you encountered the same or a similar issue? If so, were you able to solve it? How did you solve it?
I just uninstalled Amplify, as I think it stops somehow the Gyroscope service, that's why it locks randomly. I'll check if the issue appears again...
I think I have good news for you guys: I guess I was able to locate the issue.
I noticed it always happened when I was holding the phone in the hand I had a ring on my finger. Then I found out the phone has magnetic sensors (for flip covers).
I downloaded the Xposed module "Magnet Sensor Control", the bug hasn't appeared so far!
I hope I was able to help you guys with my findings. This thread may be closed now.
Happened twice since picking up my phone Saturday. The fingerprint sensor just stops working altogether. The phone makes no acknowledgment of tapping the sensor when on AOD or lock screen, and swiping the sensor to pull down the notifications does nothing. Reboot the phone and all is well again, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.
Anyone else have this problem, any idea how to fix?
Phone is S8 on Verizon.
I think samsung just want to release update there are soo many bugs i also getting the same bug with fingerprint and iris scanner
Fingerprint sensor works fine on mine but iris scanner does not, times out during setup, i got it as far as 75% once
New phone, a lot of new software, will take time to iron everything out. On a positive note, I have not found any major issue that would actually bother me and some are my errors, I just don't know yet how to do it right. Sometimes clearing cache fixes problems like this, but since I don't have the issue, can't test it.
I guess I could try clearing cache the next time it happens. Happened twice yesterday about an hour apart.
There's a solution that I haven't tried yet in this thread:

Hi everyone!
I have a OP 2 for more than one and a half years now and never had any issues with it(stayed stock...) until recently. I didnt update the phone to the latest version and was putting it off, and today in the afternoon when I tried to unlock my phone it said the 'Fingerprint hardware is not available' and after unlocking the phone with the pattern, it IMMEDIATELY LOCKS ITSELF BACK !!! after split second it just locks the screen while everything is working like connection, wifi, messages, notifications, etc. but due to this I cannot access anything on the phone, can't go to settings and switch to onscreen nav bar buttons, can't force stop/wipe cache the com.fingerprints.serviceext either, tried restarting it several times, downloaded the update but can't even install it because the phone just locks!:crying: I have no idea what would fix it and I am avoiding a full reset and wipe on the phone(also based on all i have read, dont think it would fix it anyways)
If anyone knows whats the problem or has dealt with it or knows someone who has, please help me out here on how to fix this and what to do. I did not root it or flash custom ROM's on it yet and never had a flip cover or any sort of case so literally don't know why it happened.
Thanks in advance,
Max
Hi
I had the exact same issue with mine, I was on LineageOS and could access the logs so I was able to determine it was an hardware failure.
Went to a repair shop to replace the home button, and Bam it worked again.
If you didn't flash a custom ROM it is likely an hardware issue just like I had.
Hi, my fingerprint sensor suddenly stopped working that says hardware not available. I rebooted several times, systems works like there are no fingerprint sensor built in. Cant find any fingerprint relative info in the setting. Just got the phone for less a month, and installed the update yesterday. Is this a hardware issue or software issue? Any idea how to fix it?
So I searched online and as suggested I switched to guest mode the fingerprint starts working. Guess it's a software related issue

There are a couple of ways to proceed.
1. Factory Data Reset and install Apps one by one.
2. Don't do the FDR but remove Apps until it no longer happens.
Also check to see if any apps use accessibility features.
