Hello everyone !
I tried many ROMs myself to get the one I want but unfortunately I couldn't find it .
Can anyone tell me which is the max performance ROM in terms of gaming ! If it give decent backup of battery while normal use that's awesome !
Thanks guys
IMHO stock rom is the best in in terms of battery backup and should be pretty good for gaming aswell.

Dude, just stick with stock. It may not be bleeding edge, but it's the most optimized rom for the device. Must be the best for gaming. You can flash elementalx kernel and tweak to boost the CPU performance.

First of all, this is NOT my work! Its made by [email protected], and i just share it whit you guys!
this is great mod for:
-those who run a lot of apps and lose smoothness that way
-all who found our x8 lazy and unresponsive whit current system
For me does not show some improvements in antutu benchmark, but i can tell is much much smoother whit this tweak!
For more info and links visit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353903
You can press the thanks button if this helped you!
EDIT: After few testing I can tell my SDcard read/write is increased!
I don't trust benchmarking
I trust real work and performance
who need high score with ****y performance?
and almost most of this tweaks are in every rom here
Thanks for sharing
truth! small diference in antutu and huge on phones performance!
And What about battery life after tweak?
battery life don't change for me!
Over my time here in XDA I've built up a few studies on the Nexus S.
Here are the links. There are summaries in each thread in the first and second (and sometimes third) posts of the main findings, but I've done some very quick and minimal overviews here also.
How to build a kernel: this thread
-This post takes you through installing Ubuntu right through to managing git, in order to compile your own kernel, and flash it in CWM recovery!
-Includes the tools you need to add MTP capabilities to your kernel.
User eXperience Benchmarks: this thread
-This shows which ROM and kernel threads have the best user feedback. The feedback is processed by an external sentiment analysis API. It is only meant as a rough guide, something of a quick reference particularly if you are looking for a new ROM to try. As of June 2012 this is no longer maintained.
All ICS ROM Benchmarks: this thread
-Freely available benchmark programs were used to determine which ROMs had the best performance. Generally the difference between the best ones is very small.
Battery Drain Benchmarks: this thread
-A collection of tips for getting the best battery life, and dispelling some myths.
Kernel Features and Benchmarks: this thread
-My original study, the one that started it all, the kernel benchmarks! Provides a quick table to compare which kernels perform best in CPU/RAM/IO/Database/Graphics.
CPU Governors and I/O Schedulers: this thread
-A study done to find which schedulers perform best in combination with the most popular governors. My two favourites (ondemand and smartassV2) combine best with noop.
Power Saving Governors: this thread
-A meta study done combining the findings from the battery study and governor study to show which governors will save the most power. Ondemand comes out significantly better than conservative, which surprised me. SmartassV2 is the best compromise for high performance and efficiency.
Does SuperCharging work?: this thread
-This was just a short study to find out if this script is suitable for the Nexus S, but it turned out it had no effect, positive or negative.
Kernel Memory Allocators: this thread
-This is another short study for kernel developers to show that SLUB performs best.
====
This thread is just an index. Our new mod veyka agreed would be a good idea to summarise all my studies for addition into the sticky roundup.

EDIT: Feel free to suggest any new things that I might be able to test!

nice answer
And nice guide for your very instructive benchmarks bedalus
Even when browsing through the app you'd still get that annoying thanks limit.
This is a really good overview for new NS users. (I doubt there are ever some since mostly would go directly for G-Nex)
What's next?
That "Oodie's Assassins' Performance Benchmark" sounds interesting, though.
PS: @Oodie, you should have kanged your assassins before sending them to bedalus' compound. That way, your assassins' would have at least injured bedalus
UPDATE: Memory Allocators studied. SLUB wins!
Great reference for a refresher or for a new comer. Really like the battery drain benchmarks and how you discuss some myths. Governors is great...love Smartass V2 with Matrix V20!!
Thanks @bedalus!! Totally deserves a sticky.

There was like ten stickies, I think veyka wants to keep everything in a list in one sticky.
I appreciate the sentiment though!

thank you for all your work, love your kernels ... currently been using deadline/ondemand but since you say it is not best I will try smartassv2+noop.. (I've found smartass with other combinations give me a lot of lag)

Ondemand for good balance between performance and battery saving. Smartassv2 for gaming. CFQ and deadline are the best governors, but deadline probably has the edge.
Thanks! Now this widens my perspective on choosing my own Governor and Scheduler Combo.
I make this thread Instead of having a constant discussion about kernels in the SentinelROM v4.50-CM10.1 thread.
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2037363
So when someone ask about kernel in that thread, just link this.
Sentinel196 works hard on his rom and kernel, so why do you change kernel and what kernel did you change to?
What settings do you use?
What app do you use?
Do you play games?
Are you a casual user?
Other?
I´m new to this rom so i´m going to try it completely untouched for at least a week before changing anything.
So that i get a good feel for the performance and battery.
These are good for battery life.

Guys can someone confirm if they can get most wanted to work properly without crashing and also real racing 3
?
Kept crashing on me
Rush85 v4 and v5 worked on other games like nova3 etc.
Sentinel kernel that came with rom gave me artificacts and crashes on games
If these issues are fixed then I would definitely want to come back to sentinel rom
Regards
Hey !
I have made some configurations for pegasusq governor. This is incredibly fast for CM based kernel !
(I use Trickster Mod )
I will test battery life

can you test NFS Most wanted and real racing 3 to see if they work with the kernel?
Real Racing 3 works ok ! I'm going to test Need For Speed
EDIT : Works ok !
Nice to see you posting here :good:
I don´t play games my self on my phone, what i need is good idle and screen time.
But a lot of users do, so nice to see you share
N.O.V.A 3 crash with Cyanogen Mod 10.1 and Dorimanx 9.17 , time to try with Sentinel
Used Stock Sentinel Kernel for a while (with Performance governor, i really don't care bout battery ) & felt phone smooth.
Changed to Siyah v4 by Rush ( Curiosity, u see ) & overclocked to 1.4Ghz with Conservative coz for some reason, conservative gave more smoothness than performance .. & phone never felt more smooth :fingers-crossed:
& oh yeah, post 3-4 charging cycles, m gettin 4.5+ hours of screen time with WiFi on most of the time. So m gonna stick to siyah & sentinel for a looong loong time

Hi all,
I'm testing the Sentinel rom with the kernel of Slim Bean, for now I'm watching more stability and smoothness.
I have not tested the battery.

Interesting
But.. more stability and smoothness? Was it unstable for you and not as smooth as default kernel?
I find that hard to believe.

The latest build of SlimBean (5.5-WEEKLY) is very good. With her, I reached more or less 3800 points in Quadrant Standard.
With the Sentinel, I reached around 3100-3300 points.
With Sentinel + Slim Kernel I reached around 3400-3500 points, even that little thing, already demonstrates some improvement.:good:
@thiagox
Ah, you are talking about benchmark.
Whats that got to do with stability and smoothness?
Stability is no fc, no reboots, no hangs.
Smoothness is an overall performance with no lagg/stuttering.

Really man, I messed up. I traded stability for performance, my apologies!
hi guys , im just have a big problem with my Galaxy S5 G900h version , im just seeing around the web that everyone has better performance than what i get from my phone , i just installed a fresh BOD4 android 5 rom on my phone , i did all the wiped , my phone on full charge but still my benchmark on antutu is on 33000 or less , , all the guys with the same rom getting like over 42000 on this S5 , its not the only benchmark , i get lags on some games like hungry shark !!! what is the problem ?!! how can i increase this performance , can u tell me whats is the fastest rom for this S5 or is there any kernel to make it faster ? but honestly i prefer to get the same performance as the other guys get on stock rom not the custom one
no one can help me here ?! i dont know anywhere better than here to fix this problem so please some one help me

The people who get high scores on benchmarks usually run benchmark right after flashing fresh rom...they dont have any other apps running. S5 lags sometimes its normal (Esp on powersaving mode)
Terry this
Switch of your phone let it be for say ten min
Switch it on and dont open any app for give min
Run the benchmark and share the results
Also don't use any memory or battery saving app

Squeaking like pliiiiiizzzz and ASAP would not help you.
What help you (and others like you) is to READ and TEST. No one will know but you what you want from the kernel.
Or the phone - performance and battery (long lasting battery I suppose) don't go well in the same sentence.
So go ahead, read the bloody threads and try to think in order to take a decision.
Spacelemon is very good along with Synapse where u can tweak many things. But again, if u want speed and performance - this comes with cost of the battery juice.
And don't be lazy, READ.
