First of all, this is NOT my work! Its made by [email protected], and i just share it whit you guys!
this is great mod for:
-those who run a lot of apps and lose smoothness that way
-all who found our x8 lazy and unresponsive whit current system
For me does not show some improvements in antutu benchmark, but i can tell is much much smoother whit this tweak!
For more info and links visit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353903
You can press the thanks button if this helped you!
EDIT: After few testing I can tell my SDcard read/write is increased!
I don't trust benchmarking
I trust real work and performance
who need high score with ****y performance?
and almost most of this tweaks are in every rom here
Thanks for sharing
truth! small diference in antutu and huge on phones performance!
And What about battery life after tweak?
battery life don't change for me!

Hello guys,
I would like to ask if there is an app that would benchmark the ROM performance as opposed to the device performance as in the most of bencmarking apps available (SkTools, SPB Benchmark...). These apps can be used to benchmark ROMs too - but they show more about actual drivers performance than real life experience.
I did a search on the Internet but found nothing.
Is there anyone able to code such an app for the xda-devs community?
I am looking for program that would measure following:
- Boot up speed
- Start menu open speed
- Speed of opening settings menu from the Start menu
- Speed of opening programs menu from the Start menu
- Speed of opening the Windows folder from the Explorer
- Speed of opening a standard built in app (for example emulating green phone button press to open the dialer)
- Speed of changing screen orientation form portrait to landscape and back
- Speed of wake up from stand-by
- catch-all master statistic (derived from all other stats) to make it easier to rank the results for various ROMs/Devices
Any other statistics you may consider important when it comes to the speed of your shiny new cooked ROM. Please advise on what can also measure actual ROM performance.
The app would ideally run these tests several times (10x) and then log the average values into a results file.
I think it would help the ROM cookers to troubleshoot their creations and new users to choose the right ROM for them. In short this new application would test the GUI reactions - no benchmark app currently available does it. It is an important characteristics though, because that is what users come in contact with most often.
Thank you for your contributions! Thanks to MaRaHoX for his advice

Thanks a lot. I think GUI performance benchmarks are useful even in device to device comparison.
(Rare post by me but...)
Perhaps a single benchmark score would be good to determine the relative difference between the ROM being tested and a controlled test....ie WM6 Vanilla??
so a ROM which scores out in total maybe 3 times better (overall) than the control ROM would score like this:
"XDA-Bench score: 3.00" .............. something like?
the best overall performing ROM would have the highest overall score relative to the control test (vanilla)............im not sure im explaining my concept very well?!?!
ofcourse all the test results could be viewed in detailed view in the same sort of format as the xls spreadsheet??
This way a ROM can undergo a test with a custom setup on anybodys device and get a score to really see how it fairs against other ROMs? I personally see this as a similar sort of thing as PCMark or 3DMark??
EDIT::: just thought it would be cool to see how an app installed affects the XDA-Bench score?? Ive noticed certain apps tend to slow down the device whilst other dont?!

Thanks for your ideas - Available benchmarks have something like synthetic master score (check my benchmark thread - link is in my sig). Slowdown measuring is also interesting idea. Hopefully somebody will make this xda-bench a reality
Testing methodics
Hi KarhU,
I was thinking about it and one more thing about it - it is also really important to define starting point for this ROM - or better is to say "comparable state"... f.e. - to switch off all today items etc. I understand that for user is better to know how the ROM is powerful in real state... maybe to consider this note as a basic for discussion about it (if it is not already mentioned there or somewhere else )
Glad to help little bit with this important and purposeful work!
M.
I think the official HTC rom would be the best to use as a control rom for comparisons. I would run this app every time I install a new piece of software, at the moment my orbit is running a bit slow, I've just overdone it a bit at the moment, so it would be great to see exactly how an installation affects my system. It would be useful to developers and cookers alike. I hope the idea really takes off.
This would be a great app if developed! I agree with a those above that the official HTC rom would be the best one to use as a control rom for comparisons.

Interesting idea - currently my tests were done WYSIWYG method - I wanted to compare the ROMs with their basic settings to see actual performance in more "real life" conditions. You are right that if we want to compare the base there should be comparable testing starting point.
I suggest to add the following test for phone devices:
- time lag between 'caller heard first ring' and 'the device actually rings'

This is a good one and very often people are interested in this statistics, but it is hard to measure as you need two phones.
::bump that!::
Bump! Time to resurrect the thread
i like this idea
I have enabled JIT, but I am yet to see an improvement. Only thing I noticed is that one of the games on my phone is now broken.
I cannot see a significant improvement but I can feel it's a bit smoother during daily usage. Anyway I have only a little time using X8 without JiT
After installing Jit, I noticed improved performance in Angry Birds, they began to work smooth and stable.
Hi
I agree with russian_man,
more fluid in games like AB,
but nothing broken for me
I didn't notice anything. Not playing games.. but..
I 'm using build 2.1.1.A.0.6!
I didn't noticed anything?
Should I be expecting something?
How many time did you try X8 without JiT
and did you play more than 1 lvl in Angry Birds ?
I didn't notice some big improvement, but Quadrant gives me +100 score..
Battery life improved
After enabling JIT on my X8 it is a bit fast and battery life improved by 40%

Lol??
How did you manage to get 40% more battery life??
I get about 2 days max...
with JIT for me phone works faster, but battery discharge faster
Very nice improvements! Wish I could figure out how to "thank" for posts
I've rooted my phone, installed xRecovery, app2sd hack and now jit compilation. All thanks to the fine members of this forum.
I don't care much for battery life, I have access to charger often. My GF's phone stays original (I don't dare to hack around with it - she likes it to just work), so I use that to compare. My UI improved vastly in responsiveness after JIT, and games like Angry Birds are smoother. Same with youtube, HD videos have no stutter (this might be network idk)

I didn't get any of this. Perhaps I did it wrong. I'll try again later.
I didn't notice any improvement
before installing JIT , in angry birds , when you reached high levels of the games , X8 will act a little slow , and I played the same level again after I installed Jit , but still it's slow
I just know that the first time after installing JIT , it took around 4 min for boot
BTW , is there any way to know that JIT is enabled or not?

install quadrant. if you get a score 500+ then JIT is enabled.
any noob guide that make JIT Enable ? My angry bird is unstable ?
Here is it

Hi,
Now a days everyday there is new ROM for Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 released.
It is very difficult for a person to choose one from the list.
So, I started the thread for discussion of ROM & KERNEL Performance, experience, Problems and Troubleshooting advises.
Participate and share your experience for each ROM you use.
Submit your Quadrant Score with ROM & KERNEL Details.
Thanks & Regards,
-niemesh
Doctorz ROM
I am using Doctorz ROM which I found very good and stable with good inbuilt applications
1. What is KERNAL?
2. Why use Quadrant to measure performance?
Sent from my GT-I9000
KERNEL is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level
Quadrant Standard is used for measuring performance of android mobile.
sry but by using quadrant to verify a rom speed you are disqualifying yourself
i din't say quadrant used to verify rom speed. I told that it is a standard for measuring Android mobile speed. being specific quadrant is benchmark for mobile performance for data writing, reading, 2D, 3D, etc.
I included quadrant in this post as the quadrant scores are different from rom to rom due to its data processing ability.
Quadrant is a random number generator, useless. there are other bench tools around but i dont really care about those tools. as long as my SGS performs for me fast and smooth i dont care about any bench results.
JVT kernels are similar to each other. so suggest Semaphore, Galaxian or TalonDev. me using last one.
JVT rom is up to you and your theme choice. all are fast and smooth. the more its customized the more problems you can get. I use almost stock. all working great and fast even battery life is good.
Hey guys! Been playing around with ICS ROM's lately on my HD2. Tried a lot of different performance options like Zram, Purging of assets Over-clocking and Under-clocking and etc. But for me no matter what I change, the settings does not improve nor performance nor battery life.
So tell me guys, do you change your settings from stock, does it help you improve performance/battery life, and if so write the best combination working for YOU!
Will be waiting your options guys on what setting works well for you (the whole layout please, performance stuff you toggle on/off, CPU Min/Max and governor), maybe your ideas will help someone new to ICS to improve even more on the awesomeness which is ICS on HD2
BTW: Wanted to flash a WP7.5 ROM cuz these little lags started to annoy me, but then discovered an AWESOME ROM by Zorua http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783913 And was amazed by the speed of this build. Nice job dude made me reconsider going back to WP7.5 And a special thx for securect for his hard work with the kernel and KGSL support.
Use CPU tuner

Use CPU tuner. You are allowed to set options like " normal mode or mode while display is off" etc. it helps to boost the battery life incredible.

Mybe this is crazy but I'm actually looking for performance. My phone is near the charger all day but maybe this is crazy since i know HD2 is an old device but the little lag annoy me))
Hello everyone !
I tried many ROMs myself to get the one I want but unfortunately I couldn't find it .
Can anyone tell me which is the max performance ROM in terms of gaming ! If it give decent backup of battery while normal use that's awesome !
Thanks guys
IMHO stock rom is the best in in terms of battery backup and should be pretty good for gaming aswell.

Here you'll find lots of examples
Dude, just stick with stock. It may not be bleeding edge, but it's the most optimized rom for the device. Must be the best for gaming. You can flash elementalx kernel and tweak to boost the CPU performance.
