None that I know of
Honestly, I expected by now to have heard something, anything really, about a MFN beta or soak test for Oreo... but nothing, it's been pure crickets. I have little hope of Oreo being seen "soon".

I sometimes fear they will ditch g5plus too like moto g4.
I bought this device because of promised oreo update. And hoped treble would be possible with some tricks.
When i used moto e 1st gen i received soak test mail in mid Feb after a survey in Jan. Indian received soak test after brazil.
There has been no survey yet! Man i am sad!

They won't ditch our device.. if they promised oreo for the G4 plus it is guaranteed that we will receive it before it.
I'm being optimist and guessing that a hidden soak test is happening right now (a lenovo mod said that motorola was working ln oreo for the G5+, i guess he means in soak tests) and that in april we'll receive oreo.
That's my last stop, in may i'll be flashing 8.1.0 if nothing happens..
I mean, i left a Nokia phone at a nice price for this device, because i always loved motorola.. guess i'm done now, wether we receive oreo or not..
Only if your battery lasts out, then no reason for them to supply update, just wondering from the manufacture's point of view, might seem cynical but they only make money out of sales, not update's.
ps works for every manufacture, simple science, make product, produce money

Lol... Keep your delusions. There made no "promise", only the normal blog statement back in September. If they said the G4 Plus would get it as well there is nothing saying the G5 has to get it first.
"Working on it" dies not equate necssarily to a hidden soak test, could just be on the dev teams daily morning meeting to do list. Soak test procedures are pretty well defined. About 30 days prior to beginning of soak test, a survey goes out to a group of MFN users, about 50% of that group will be selected for it. We almost always hear about both of these steps in the forums and on news sites, and so far nothing. The surveys usually prompt questions in the forums, and the initial beta releases to members of the group usually prompt release rumors even by Android news organizations.
Then a 30-45 day trial starts, if all goes well about 30 days after the test ends, the update is released. If it doesn't go well, it goes back to dev team and starts over with the same group. This can take a while, for the Moto X Pure it took almost a full year with Surveys and beta group selection beginning in Feb 2017 and the final Nougat roll-out completing in January this year.
I honestly do not expect to see Oreo until mid to end of Summer season at the earliest, but surprises happen.

The G4 plus was promised to get oreo, you can see on their official blog at the very end
And they said it will come later because it was not on their original agenda (like the G5+ was), so i'm right about the G5+ getting it first

Motorola's history here makes it hard to say their blog posts, the only "official" statements, are a promise, but I concede that they did actually use that term regarding the G4 Plus.
https://blog.motorola.com/2017/09/14/say-hello-android-oreo/
Their exact wording for the release timing was:
But it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading moto g4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit into our schedule, we’ll update our software upgrade page when we have more info.

Although common sense says this means it's on the bottom of the pile in regards to getting the update, there is nothing that says it won't get it's update before any or all of the other devices.

It's Lenovo. They promise all kinds of things, and wait months until everyone else moved on or forgot about it and then they ditch the phone support, show a new phone to buy, same promises, only to be dumped the same way. I won't even think G5plus gets anything, I mean they still haven't updated the Z line and they are now ditching the X line. Who knows, maybe they gonna ditch the G or the Z next along with the promised updates and just tell you to buy a newer phone.
I wouldn't bet a penny on their words.

You can see now all the Z series and X series got Oreo.
Next is G series.

If it was out, you'd have heard about it.
And you sign a NDA. What do you have if someone can't trust your word when you commit to something. Like it was said, if it was out you would know, and if it was good, you would have it shortly.

As others have said, to participate in a soak test, app trial, or other Moto beta test, you must agree to a non-disclosure agreement, I have been in a couple and since they are over now I can discuss them... The last one I was in for Marshmallow for the Moto G 3rd Gen, and there is an extensive document you must agree to not only to not disclose the files/data and discussing it outside of the official Lenovo/Motorola forums for the specific test, but you are not allowed to even mention you are part of the test or know it is occurring. Now this is largely a trust thing, as I don't know the legal ramifications that could occur, but violating it removes you from the test and all future tests, forever, so most people will try to follow the rules.

In your experience, after the initial soak test build is being delivered to the few chosen people, how long does it take for it to become stable and ready to release ? a week, a month ?
I'm not asking the actual public release timings, but the time involved for the final build to be made. I know that the actual public release depends on other factors as well (carriers and stuff).

In both beta tests I participated in, we had the finish product and version, we tested it for about a month, then a staggered roll-out occurred starting almost exactly a month after the beta testers got the update... from what we could gather, Moto used the Google update strategy at the end of the testing phase, 1% of devices for 2-5 days, then 25% of devices, 50%, 75%, and after about 2-3 weeks they would be at a 100% roll out. Moto seemed to phase this by regions as well, Brazil and India tend to get the updates first, remaining Asian markets second, Europe third, and North America last.
Although I was never involved in a "bad" test, I have talked to others that were, usually once the major bug was confirmed in a week or two, a week or two to fix and the cycle starts over.

True, that seems to be the case. All I was commenting on was what I've seen in the past, doesn't guarantee they will continue that pattern
even aus got sept security update but when i check it says upto date....
https://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/attachments/lnv/449/17120/1/Screenshot_20161127-082628.png
So i was on lenovo forums and found this (its for 1575 btw):
"Ok, so I've seen all the posts and comments. *I know Moto / Lenovo does not comment on Impending updates.
*
However.
*
When I called Moto Support Yesterday, I was told by two different reps that this phone's update schedule has changed, and it will no longer be recieving 7.0, or any further updates above 6.01, other than google supplied security updates.
*
Even funnier, when I asked how I was supposed to get my promised update, the rep told me to Unlock my bootloader and "Google for a nougat update, Just be carefull of hacked versions" (NOT Kidding)
*
When I asked for an ID or other information so I could track the seconnd call, I recieved reference number*170605-001691.
"
What u guys think?

Regular Motorola Lenovo support people have no idea and are not in the loop on updates. That is why if and when you are chosen for beta test you are told not to call them.
Since the main Nougat thread was needlessly closed, I haven't been able to keep track: has 7.0 rolled out for the XT1572 everywhere (i.e., across all of Europe) or are some major countries still waiting?
If it's rolled out everywhere else, there's absolutely no reason to think the XT1575 will ever receive Nougat. Why would there be a multi-week or multi-month gap for a device that's essentially identical? It probably has to do with CDMA issues and/or carriers demanding $$ for an approval process before they allow Nougat-ified 1575's on their network.

The main thread was closed from all of the arguing and was intended to keep track of the XT1575 update. Since nothing new was happening for months, it only made sense to lock it to save the admins from getting another headache from cleaning the thread again. It would be nice to have a good place to see where else the XT1572's have been getting updates though

Still on Lollipop, no updates expected
XT1572 Style
UK - Not yet
EU - Most (supposedly not all variants yet)
Asia - Yes
Latin America - Yes
XT1575 Pure
North America - Not yet
And the main Nougat thread needed to be closed, it had to be cleaned by Mods several times a week because of constant arguing, bickering, whining, and needless Moto bashing that even got rather hostile at times. Leave to a few to ruin it for everyone.
One of Motorola forum administration said, that rep provided a wrong information, and they "recruite" him better. No official info about cancellation of update was provided, so I think we have a small hope.

Seriously? We will get the update... The last "beta" was just sent to testers only a few weeks ago (early August I believe) because they were still having issues with Nougat on the XT1575, and once it has been approved and found to be stable it is usually rolled within 30 days.
The mentioned "obsolete" and "we are not getting an update per customer service" is crap, and has been CLEARLY disproved on Moto's official forums... did a rep say that? Apparently they did, but they were flat out wrong... they did not have the knowledge or the authority to do so.
TBH, this update for the Pure has been a PR nightmare for Moto... they don't talk about it (which is not new, Moto has been tight lipped about software updates since before Google bought them) and it is taking a ridiculously long time to get a stable ROM, the beta testers have had significant issues with several builds, even hard brick issues early on when performing a factory reset.
Although I get people's frustration, how do you think people would feel if they they got an update, then did a factory reset for whatever reason, and the device bricked because of it?
I know it sucks... but seriously what is it going to do for you? Other than a few gimmicks that Nougat has that Marshmallow does not, the update does NOTHING for this device, no new camera API, no Vulcan support, no VoLTE, no Pixel Launcher, not even updated Moto apps. You get multi-window which honestly barely has a usable function, and clear all in recents, which is also not really important, and Google Allo added at the system level (yeah, OK, nobody uses it I know).
Patience, it will come when it's ready... I honestly don't care anymore if it comes or not because by the end of the year I will be moving on to something else since this one will be pushing 20 months for me and it is just time to move on.
I'm on an XT1572 Style, which I purchased online -- I'm guessing diverted from EU markets, since the update announcements were always in French. Nougat 7.0 has made this phone unbearable to use -- 1-3sec lags on most interface interactions, and up to 5 seconds when it feels like it. I've followed the advice from Moto support to fix it, including a hard factory reset. I agree with the post above that 7.0 adds very little value to the phone. I'm angry enough to look into a consumer law action against Motorola for the replacement value. And there is no way in hell I will be buying another Moto device -- looking hard at the OnePlus 3T.
Just received nougat 7.0 this morning for my moto x pure edition. Installed the software in 30 min. Noticed the app files are larger. Everything runs smoothly so far. The phone is a XT1575 32GB. It was a very long wait. Located in Coeur D Alene, ID. Jerry Purchased from Best Buy, unlocked, Retail
Does anyone has news about when will oreo update be out for g5 plus? :crying:
Ohkay... 91 views and no replies. I mean... I guess it's because that kind of information can be easily Googled but here we go...
Hmmm, the Oreo update should drop by December. The last article I read said something about the update getting ready by the end of this year.
I mean, optimistically speaking, yes, it's happening. However, don't be surprised if we have to wait until January.
Or go flash yourself Oreo! It's super easy!

Moto is currently carrying out Oreo soak test on Moto Z, Z Play and maybe on Z2 Play. I read that on a reddit thread and GSMArena posted the same a few days ago. If I were you, I'd keep a close watch on the reddit threads for Oreo soak test's progress
Honestly... If we get it before Android P is in beta, I would be surprised. The G5 (non-S) series is towards the bottom of devices Moto is concerned with getting Nougat, newer devices will get it first and Lenovo's recent history of update releases is pretty poor. My opinion is we can look for it maybe March to May of next year, although I could be off a couple months one way or the other.

And Moto X Pure/Style, and the Moto G 2015... oh wait, that one never did get it's last upgrade. :/
Basically, since when Google had Motorola the update life cycle and speed of releases was improving the entire time... Since Lenovo got a hold of Moto, it's completely reversed to beyond where Motorola was at before Google got them. I like the hardware, but the software update cycle leaves a lot to be desired.
Anyway, this thread wasn't meant to be a P&M session, so I will let it go at that.

It could be that Motorola are working on the Oreo update for our devices, I imagine we're not the highest priority at the moment, since we already had our major update. Still, let's see what happens.

NO! We didn't. When I bought the device, it was mentioned in all promotional material that we will get guaranteed Android N and O updates. Though, there was no time frame mentioned, but this is ridiculous that we have to wait so long. I'm never gonna recommend a Moto device again, just because of updates, which was the USP for recommendations.
I am not sure when will Motorola ever speak about G4(+) as in their Oreo upgrade plan this device was missing at first. Then on reddit people made posts with promo materials showing promises and they just included the device in their list I believe several months ago. So, they never intended to upgrade it, and who knows they ever will.

The major update was nougat that this device received already(echo92 is correct). At the beginning it was shipped with marshmallow. Seems you bought the device while those promo materials were discussed around the world

This would be correct for any vendor that promises one major upgrade and had a history of doing so. But, Motorola was choice of many due to consistent security updates and at least 2 major upgrades, and not just that, they actually said that. So, you are right they gave one major update out of promised 2, but I didn't mean that I bought the device with Nougat.
My purchase date was 20-May-2016 which was the Amazon-exclusive launch date in India and got it in my hand on 21-May-2016. I have the device with one of my family members now as I upgraded to a different device.
Luring the updates and making customer buy due to that reason and denying or delaying later is not done. We don't have very strict consumer protection law here, otherwise there definitely would have been an update

Nokia do seem to be a good choice, one of the things I'm not keen on is their lack of an official bootloader unlock program. Granted, you can pay for an unlock key (to whom?) and the increasing security measures (e.g. Safetynet) are making unlocking more of a hassle, just at the moment there's not much support for custom ROMs or TWRP.
I've been watching some videos and photos of people getting Oreo on their moto G5 plus, yet I haven't seen any stock Oreo roms
What is happening?
And thanks for reading my not so good English
It is a beta testing of the stock ROM. Only a select few people that have enrolled in the Motorola Feedback Network will get it. The global release will happen in a couple of months. You have to wait.

I didn't think so, because we all know Moto does NOT give specifics about updates... EVER.... they never have and in the official forums they have been very clear that is their policy and they never will give specifics.

As a long time Motorola user I can tell you that all these chat Infos are nonsens.
As @acejavelin said, Motorola never announced anything about update ETA. You will find these " some chat helper said" posts from Falcon over Titan until now and always the answers are useless.
All that these guys are able to do is telling you to do a factory reset. They have no clue when an update arrives, maybe they are told to say something like "within the next weeks" just to calm down the countless users that are asking for it.
These posts are useless even in combination with a screenshot. So don't post rumours that will never be confirmed and don't help anyone.
And don't crosspost these stuff in several threads!

I doubt this would happen, Moto users are not so lucky in the firmware update department!
But if you say so...then "I would give away free sweets riding a royal elephant" like those royal kings.
Coming back to the point..i strongly disagree that moto would give a certain timeline or a date, their culture is different; they believe in uncertainty and chaos.
Moto would make a grand entry with (nectar) Oreo (ahem..32-bit) for their dying devices, like a savior.
Peace out.
Motorola link saying Oreo is available
I found a link saying Oreo is available and I can't post the link because I'm a newbie on this forum. You should be able to find it by searching "MS130856 motorola" on google.
It doesn't seem to be available to my phone. Any idea when the Oreo 8.1 info might have been posted and when it will actually be available on my G5 plus?

Depends on where you come from. Oreo is available in India and Brazil, some users also confirm it's rolled out in Mexico and GB.
Threre are several threads around about it, also some OTA are available also fastboot firmwares.
Just search in this forum and you'll find all informations. For pending regions: Motorola never gave a timeline and most probably never will.
Edit:
Oreo won't make your life better, gives you wealth or makes your love life better. No offense, just kidding....
