Hey everyone,
This is actually my parents tablet so I'm not entirely sure what happened. They told me it was updated and it looks like a factory reset was performed. It prompts for the account associated with the tablet and I used my mom's email/pass and it says "There is an unexpected error. Try again in 24 hours". I've waited multiple days multiple times and still get the same error. When I try a different login, it says I need to use the account that was previously being used. I tested my mom's credentials elsewhere and they were fine.
It's out of warranty from Asus now and I couldn't find much info online.
Am I SOL? Can I load a new ROM on to it to fix this issue?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

This sounds like an error with GOOGLE NOT THE OS. There must be something about errors like this on other devices.
P.S. sorry about the capitals, it just makes the most important part easily readable

Hello,
Could anybody help me? I've just restored my o2 xda orbit 2 (polaris/cruise). Now I can't get my push-email to work any more, Activesync keeps saying 'Attention Required' when I force a sync. I've tried over WiFi, and my cellular provider.
I'm using mail2web live to collect me email, I've not changed any settings, apart from re-entering the username/password/server on my device to see if this helps. I've removed the server, and re-added it, with no such luck.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do (aside from a hard reset) to try and rectify this?
Thanks
Chris.
Are you sure the hostname of the mailserver is correct? I'm unsure if that hex code is a general error or specific to an issue.
I got the same code when I misspelled our OWA Exchange server on my ActiveSync.
Turns out I forgot to put .com after our domain.
It'd surely be better if it had reasonable errors like "Unable to resolve hostname." wouldn't it? That way you don't have to call India Microsoft Tech support to make sense of some codes?
I tried removing the settings and re-adding them, to no avail. I had to bite the bullet and hard-reset, reinstall all my apps etc.
It's all up and running again now.
Still would like to know what caused this. In case it ever happens again.
I agree about the error codes. I know sometimes they are accompanied by a description or error message, but this time the code was so generic it might as well have just told me to hard reset and start over.
Thanks anyway
This is so ****ing lame! It will take me 30 minutes to put my phone back the way it was after a hard reset

Did you solved this?
I have the same error and not able to solve it.
Mf
i noticed that right after a fresh flash it works just fine. its after i install all my crap that it breaks. im going to reflash ONE MORE TIME. this time im going to soft reset after each single cab I install and test activesync after each reset to see which cab/theme/setting/app it is that breaks it. ill report back in a few hours.
Hi, did you have any luck finding out what was causing this? I'm now getting it completely out of the blue and the apps on my phone are exactly the same as they always have been.
I hard-reset put all my apps back and it won't work.
Hard-reset and leave it as is and push works fine.
Just weird!
I never managed to be able to reproduce this error. I'm currently running MightyROM 4.9.4 and my Activesync works fine...
Use a backup software and you should be able to trim off the install time of all your apps.
Hi All,
Just tried buying an app from the marketplace and got this message:
"Can't get this info right now..."
I just spent about an hour searching various forums, and there seems to be a real difference of opinion about what this message means. Some posters suggest that it indicates a problem at MS's end (i.e. they're doing maintenance, something is wrong with Windows Live etc), and so the best thing to do is sit tight. Others seem to think it is user problem, and you need to reset the phone, clear the history in IE, turn on/off cookies in IE, etc... Given I didn't change anything on my phone and this just started happening for no obvious reason, I'm inclined to think its an MS problem. Anyone else dealt with this? Advice would be helpful as I don't want to waste time trying all the suggested solutions online...
I am having this same problem. It just started about 2 days ago. Saw all the same suggestions you mentioned, but none solved it.
I have not tried a factory reset, but it seems like an MS server issue.
I ended up doing a factory reset, but that didn't help. I think the problem is that I was using a US-based live account in Canada, and somehow the phone decided to lock me out of the marketplace due to my non-US IP address. Ended up resetting the phone again and then setting it up with a Canada based live account. Now everything is fine (although I have no access to the Zune marketplace). I wonder if the Feb update did something...
May also have something to do with the purchase validation cookie that sits on the phone...
Is anyone else still having problems downloading apps from the marketplace? When I tap install button I keep getting the message that says "Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while" Is anyone else having this same issue today? This is the first time I've ever had issues with the marketplace, I've had this phone for almost a month. Seems like it's on Microsoft's end, any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Seem to be other people on the XDA main forums having the problem...
Well whatever was causing the problem seems to have been fixed. I'm now able to download apps again =)
Hi Guys,
Firstly, please tell me if I've posted this in the wrong forum.
Today I tried connecting my NookColor to my Motorola Atrix via the Motorola tethering/wifi hotspot app. The Nook discovered the wifi network fine, which was unproteched (motorola default). When I connected to it the Nook said something like "Due to an authentication error your Nook will now reboot". I didn't have a choice and thought it'd just power cycle so I hit okay.
What happened next was a long reboot process which ended in the factory default "Welcome/Setup your new NookColor" screen.
I tried going through the setup. The last step was to connect to a network, so I tried my phone again. It was the only network available. It errored and said please turn off the nook or call customer service.
Any idea what has happened? I have connected my nook to wireless networks many times before, just not my phone's hotspot. Can I just follow the autonooter steps again and be okay? I haven't touched it since this happened.
My mom's Nook had this same problem. Any ideas? It was rooted running the stock firmware crack.
there are a few threads on this... the nook will factory reset wiping all your data. no one knows what triggers it though... unfortunately.
its happened to me when accessing the b&n apps... pain in the butt.
Yup, someone at B&N made a biiiiig boo boo. This is happening on a wide scale to Nook owners. Luckily for me, I've had WiFi off the last couple of days while trying to assess whether the Sqlite mods really do block the 1.2 OTA update, so I was not affected by this.
Also, I just signed up with Sprint and got an HTC Evo 4G, so I'm obsessed with my new toy lately.
Thanks for the quick reply.
So are you saying this could have happened at any moment? And isn't necessarily because of connecting to the tether?
I don't think I had 1.2 update installed, but are you saying that the book may have auto updated to it on it's own?
Thx for the help
Mine is the same thing, shows "Error Problems setting up your nook, call customer service, etc." Then all i get is power off or device info. They keep telling me it's their network being down but i feel it's been up for a while now.
yeah, network was down last night due to the update being pushed from what i hear...
here are a couple of threads on other people who've experienced the reboot / reformat of data:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981737&highlight=nook+reset
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873975&highlight=nook+reset
So it looks like this problem has been going on for monthsnow with no end in sight. I guess ill try cm7 from sd card until this all blows over... was wanting to try it anyway.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
This will not happen on CM7. It happened to me on stock. Not sure if this is applicable to your situation, but I had restored my system files with Titanium. I learned that is not a good thing to do. Going into the Native Nook/Reading software would trigger this.
Happened to me a few weeks ago as well. Was just piddling around in the stock settings.
Someone on the B&N forum claimed that B&N remotely resets nooks that it detects have been rooted, but I think that's a bit far-fetched.
This happened to me once also and I found the reason was the device automatically tried to install firmware 1.1.0 (it was on 1.0.1 before that).
Did updating the firmware stop the problem?
I was flashing my S8 from AT&T to unlocked firmware. As far as I can tell the flash was a success because the phone booted up OK, EXCEPT upon startup I got the screen that said there was already a Google account loaded on my device. That was fine since it was my Google account. I logged in with my Google info and then it was going to verify by sending a text to my number, which I allowed. Then when it seemed like it was ready to move on a little info popup said that there was an unknown error and that I'd have to wait 24 hours to try again.
From googling, I see that this seems to be part of the factory reset protection, but why is it locking me out when it's my phone and my Google info is the right info? I even got an email to my Gmail address that welcomed me to my new Samsung Galaxy, so it's clear that Google accepted my credentials. I just can't seem to get past this part of set-up though.
Any help is appreciated. I feel sick with a $700 non-functional phone.
go to recovery and factory reset. should solve it

I did that already and it still goes to the Google verification. I did wipe cache/factory reset just to cover all the bases. When I google this, I understand factory protection is in root so it's not affected by wiping cache. In the end, I don't necessarily need to circumvent the Google verification because it's not like it's a stolen phone. I just don't understand why I'm getting an unknown error from Google upon entering my credentials. Is that a Google error, does it means something is corrupt, etc.?

If you recently changed your google password or verification steps this will happen. I have been bitten a few times from it, its pretty damn stupid to be locked out of your own device. Here's an article on it: https://www.androidcentral.com/what-do-if-youre-locked-out-your-phone-after-resetting-it/

I haven't changed my password though. I feel so lost because usually in Googling you can find someone else who had this problem, but it seems like no one else did.
Here's the one thing that I must have done wrong as far as I can tell. Before I flashed I went into Samsung settings and deleted my Google accounts (I had 3 set up on the phone). Then I powered off the phone and flashed. The reason why I deleted them was because one of the things I read was that doing that will protect you from Google lock. Is it possible it did the opposite?? I've done flashing before with Nexus devices. This is my first Samsung. I was too afraid I'd screw it up and right now it feels like I did.

Seeing that an option on that link you posted was to call Google, maybe I'll just do that. If Google doesn't know, who does? (fingers crossed) and thanks!

I buy and sell phones and have this happen to me at least once a week, the only way around it is to wait the 24 or 72 hours, it sucks. I just recently did an Xperia Compact and only had to go into the stock recovery to wipe caches and then it let me in but that isnt the norm!

Ok. Well then this may be a silly question, but how do you know if you wait 24 or 72 hours? Try it after a day and if it still doesn't work, try again after 3 days?

you could try to do that or contact google support or samsung and see what they can say about this.
update: no help from Google. They don't care since it's not their phone (i.e. pixel or nexus) because they said there's no support for Gmail and my Gmail works fine, it's the phone that's broken. Soooo.
If u have flashed using twrp, try flashing latest Gapps or a little older version. This used to do the trick for me back in nexus and oneplus days.
so just to close this loop, sadly nothing anyone here said really helped. I was almost ready to buy a FRP bypass solution on ebay. I tried my main Google account and it still didn't work. On a whim, I tried one of the other Google accounts I had used on the device and it worked! I'm not sure why Google would lock me out with one account, but accept another, but that's what happened.
So, I got back in on my phone just by trying every Google account. The 24 hour waiting period didn't seem to matter.
I bought a nearly new PH-1 to give to my 13 year old son. We use Google Family Link for all of our kid's devices without issue. Until the Ph-1. Usually I can set up a device after a Factory Reset using their managed log-in and it goes smoothly. They are up and running in 10 minutes. For some reason that I have not been able to track down, it's not working on the PH-1. I've tried several different pathways and every single time once it tries to verify the child's account it tells me it fails and I can retry or cancel.
I've gone through the setup process using my parent account and I get everything working perfectly. I can reproduce the problem (unfortunately) after 3 full resets and retries. I've tried using all of the affected apps to make sure they are functional. I've logged into and out of the device, rebooted, tried to log in a different kid...etc
Each time it fails with "something went wrong" and the only options are re-try or close.
I'm about to throw this thing under a bus.
Has anyone else been down this road?
Thanks!
Chad
Yep, it's broken. It has been a few months since I last tried, so I figured I'd give it another shot after this week's updates. Still doesn't work. I had mine working sometime around late summer/early fall 2018. The original setup and configuration went smoothly, and the Google components worked fine (Gmail, Google Play). But sometime later I noticed that my kids' Google profiles on my PH-1 were mangled. Google apps suddenly didn't work. I don't remember the details, but I figure it broke after an update. I ended up deleting and re-creating the phone profiles for them, but the Google configuration never would complete. It fails during the Family Link download. I've even gone into their Google Play account profiles and set it so that no approval is required for purchase or downloads. But the Family Link setup never completes under their PH-1 profiles. It's frustrating because one of the reasons I bought the PH-1 was the ability to manage multiple Android profiles. And it used to work.

Parent and child account can't be on same device.
I had the same issue over and over again on a moto g7. It wasn't until I attempted to add the user via the Family Link instead of the native Android method that the error came up that the parent and child account can't be on the same device and said to remove the parent account. I factory reset the moto G7 and added my child's account and it worked as desired.
EDIT:
Sorry, I hit this via google search and now noticed it's for the Essential Phone. Not sure if relevant here...
