is it possible install higher capacity battery on V20 ? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

hi
i have a h990ds v20 phone and need more battery capacitance. is it possible to introduce a battery more than 3200 mah (3.85 v) ?
thanks

I'm using a 10800ma battery I bought on Amazon. Getting about 65 hours of battery with about 12 hours of screen time. Maybe half of the screen on time was playing games. Streamed hours of music on my Bluetooth speakers during screen off time. This was what I considered heavy usage. another time I got over 90 hours with 7 hours SOT none of that gaming but some music streaming.

thanks but by using this kind of cover, the phone's thickness is increased and it's difficult to transport it. How good it would be for the internal battery to have a higher volume.

I want to buy a Perfine or Powerbear extended battery for this phone, at 6600mAh . It will make the phone a little thicker, but not as much as the 10000mAh ones. Shoot up a search on Amazon, you can't miss them.
As for the batteries that are the same size as the internal one and claiming to have a higher capacity than the stock one, they're a scam.

I also bought a 2 pack of 3300ma batteries and external charger for $28. So it's no thicker but you can swap batteries in 2 minutes and be back up and running at 100%

I use 10000mah ZeroLemon Tricell battery on my vs995 and it's sufficient.

battery life playing movies?

Hey I'm going to buy an 8125 probably towards the end of the month, I was just wondering how the battery life is when playing a movie with tcpmp? I read on some site that the treo 650 gets over 4 hrs or so and I was just wondering how the wizard does.
I'd expect betwwen 4-6 hours depending on the backlight setting - so quite impressive
I get over 6 hours with tcpmp

High power batteries for 9100 (like 2400mAh) need specific back battery panel (must be provided with the battery) and I don't know if the mobile can support the battery charge. But you can find standard power battery (1250mAh) for 20€on ebay germany. Can be delivered in all europ countries.
For the battery life with the music player GSPlayer (auto switch off the screen by the player) , it is more than 15h with the standard battery.

Battery Lifetime

How does the battery behaves when compared with HTC HD and the original Diamond?
I found a good review article of the diamond2
"In terms of battery life the Diamond2 promises nearly double the amount of standby time over its predecessor. From my time using the Diamond2, starting with a full charge and with frequent use (web browsing/ music/ camera/ the excellent bubble burst game!), the next time the phone needed charging was five days later and even then this was more of a top up rather than the battery running on empty."
i cant quite beleive a 5 day battery life on this phone! if it is true then it will be awesome but it has a smaller battery 1100 mah against 1350 in my phone currently which i get about 1.5 days out of it.
So i will be reserved, and slightly pessimistic

I would expect it to perform like your current phone (the HD, right?). smaller battery but smaller screen, so it should be about the same, and the htc provided data seems to be in line with that (about the same stand by, talk time and video talk time...)
So I think u are right to be pessimistic, but I also think that a higher capacity battery is possible with the same size as the 1100 mAh one: This TD2 battery is large, compared to the TD1 one: about 2 times as large, and TD1 was 900 mAh. Except if they are not of the same thickness, TD2 battery should have a higher capacity than just 1100 mAh...
I found nice shots comparing internals of TD1 and TD2, where we can see the 2 batteries
http://www.mobile01.com/newsdetail.php?id=7317
I do not know how TD2 battery compare size-wise to the HD, maybe you could post some pics of your battery? side by side shots of TD2, TD1 and HD batteries would be very nice, especial it we also have thickness shots anyone having acces to the 3 care to post those?
gkai, no i dont have an hd, i wish i had one. I only have a polaris which is why i cannot understand the 5 day battery life as if my current phone does not last that long. I think that something that is more powerful, bigger screen and a smaller battery will last as long, i just dont, and also mine is stated to have a 400 hr standby time and the td2 only has 360 hours.
So i will still be pessimistic and say that they had some wonderous phone to get it to last for 5 days! (or didnt touch it for about 3 days!)
also the physical size of the battery does not actually matter the rating of the battery is what matters and that is smaller therefore a smaller battery. The td1 i think was always said to have a really bad battery life so hopefully htc have heard this and made the td2 better with a longer battery life, we can all live in hope

hum, then it is possible: faster processor does not mean that it will drain battery faster: new generation are etched finer and use less power for same or more processing power. Screen can be (slightly) more efficient, and power saving of the different radio can be better too. But I expect the phone to be good for 1.5/2.5 days of typical usage, no more, given the current behavior of the HD, touch pro and touch diamond (which have almost exactly the same internal components)
So i will still be pessimistic and say that they had some wonderous phone to get it to last for 5 days! (or didnt touch it for about 3 days!)

The second is more likely, I doubt htc has changed the battery for the review (although it is possible). Good cell coverage is also good for battery life, if u have a cell tower nearby your phone will get better standby and communication time, same for wifi. I guess they both were in ideal condition and used the phone lightly...

hum, yes, it is the rating that count...but given that all good batteries use the same technology (lithium-polymer), mAh rating should be in direct relation with physical size: a large battery with small rating just means that your battery is of an older generation (unlikely), or that there is a lot of dead material (plastic packaging) in your battery. So either the TD2 battery is much thinner than TD1, or it is likely that higher capacity batteries with the same physical size will surface quite soon on the accessory market (I hope for the second case, battery life under normal usage is one of the most important factor for me, it is convenient to have more than 1 day of "heavy" use per charge, and less than one day under "normal" use means the phone is poor for me, whatever its other qualities...)

it says

1hour 28 minutes.
3 bars from the main power meter have already gone.
Brightness is set to auto and only recieve gprs from where i am at the moment.
I new it was too good to be true, look like there'll be a full charge tonight again.

yes, my mistake However, my point stand: battery capacity should be directly linked to its physical size and weight, given that the technology and materials used are the same (especially if you compare the batteries of a single manufacturer, like HTC). If not, it mean that the battery is not optimal and that a higher capacity battery battery of the same size is likely to come afterwards (from htc or other suppliers). That's why I was interested in the physical size of the TD2 battery compared to other devices...Well, with some luck I will know today, maybe a batch will arrive this afternoon in my favorite mobile shop and I will pick one ;-)
After the first full charge and unplugging in the morning, mine lasted until the evening.
about the same as my D1.
I don't have bluetooth or wifi on ever.
So to be honest, with average use....it's still ****
Good job i bought myself a AA battery emergency charger for it as well
Extend batterylife
Maybe not what we're looking for , but it's a way to extend batterylife:
Just underclock your TD2 or other HTC-device:

FYI: Overclocking is not possible (yet )!

How you've managed to achieve this I'd like to know. As currently I have 2 bars remaining and I have the following listed:
19 hours 1 minute standby
Talk time 0 hours 2 minutes
Device Usage: 3 hours 25 minutes
since my last charge at 23:25pm Yesterday. It's now 21:53. I have had WiFi and 3G on most of the day mind you!
7 DAYS on Standby within 1 full charge! (however without Sim Card in)

Yeah, the big downside of a non-removable battery is the inability to upgrade if the battery life sucks. I can go over 24 hours on my Sensation with moderate use thanks to the extended battery I purchased for it.
It's a far cry from the GNexs 1750mAh battery, the 2100mAh battery in this should last a little longer.
I heard somewhere (for the life of me I cannot remember where) that it has somewhere around 12 hours talk-time. Of course that's yet to be confirmed...
well your basically getting a gnex with 350mah extra battery. and this time they are using a Li-polymer battery instead of the normal Li-ion so the battery will not degrade in about 2 years it will still hold a good charge.

Exactly. But Android phones, particularly the high-end ones, require an added boost. The iPhone 5 doesn't need the extra battery power; Apple have been very clever when it comes to power consumption. It's impressive.

I took a review concerning this topic:

LG Optimus also has 2100mAh (I know, doesn't have to be same manufacteur) and the same components and it has a really good battery life.
Always better than S3.
+ LG says that their battery has more charging cycles. In the data sheet of Nexus 4 and Optimus G it says 800 instead of the usual 500:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-O...fe-cycle-and-brighter-True-HD-display_id33706
+ (OT) really flat display so you don't feel the distance of your fnger to the screen (same source)

Nice!
2100mAh should be pretty good, especially without LTE.
Sent from my bootloader-locked MB865.
One other small thing to note, the battery is a bit higher voltage than your standard cell. 3.8v vs 3.6v, so that works out to 7.98Wh vs 7.56Wh.

Mine was giving me about 36 hrs with moderate use on ARHD ? Like a year ago ? Besides this phone will have so many kernels and rooms to choose from in like a month or so that will help you get better management of it that I just don't see it being an issue ??? And chances are you might not even have it after two years when the battery starts degrading ...

I'm also Interested
If it's 3200 mAh, why does the pic say 3500mAh? I call fake
It's fake folks. Those batteries are usually tested without a standardized current draw. Like if the standard is to draw 200 ma of current till it depletes , they draw 50 ma which then results in a larger output number. Slower you draw , more capacity you get on paper. Mako's battery is almost as good as it gets in this size with Li-ion.
So can one recommend me a battery to buy? Aliexpress recommended please.
Thanks in advance
I'd like to know if anyone can recommend one too, eBay/aliexpress is fine with me too

NO! my friend bought 3500 mah battery. We switched on GPS, 3G, max brightness, youtube video (looong video) and original battery (which was 2 years old) lasted 3 H 30 M and this ****ty 3500 mah battery in the same conditions (of course we charged it first then discharged to 0% then charged again like 3-4 cycles like this) lasted 3 H 25 M.
There is mod for Nexus 5 when you can put G2 3000 mah battery inside nexus 5. It fits well. I am searching for other phones original battery for nexus 4 which has more mahs then N4. Please if you know anything about this kind of battery of other phone, send me info about it. I want to make that mod to my N4

Accubattery showed my Axon I bought used at 1821 mAh. I changed out the battery and now it reads 2983 mAh , or 95% of the 3140 capacity. The rate of drop is relative to total capacity. Seems like the power cells in this model do not have a real long life span, maybe because of Quick charging ? IDK .

The lifespan is not the problem, your (both of you) batteries may have had a factory defect. My battery was used and abused in the worst way possible (Always quick charge, charge to 100% overnight from about 10 to 30%, rinse, repeat for about a year and a month. Result: about 2300 mAh. I'd say it's pretty good huh? ?
You can try using a USB mAh meter to confirm the readings. It measures how much electricity was actually sent to your phone during charge instead of what the phone hardware reports to a software app. I used it on everything from phones to digital cameras to AA batteries to check their true capacity.

That's about 25% loss in capacity in a year... not that great, 2300 mAh doesn't last awfully long powering the Axon. I bought my girlfriend a new ZTE Warp 7 over 2 years ago that has a 3000 mAh removable battery and a SD410 and the cell in it is has only lost 11% in those two years. It's a mystery to me as to whether it's quality control or multiple suppliers or some other factor , but it seems like there could be some inconsistencies in their batteries.

I think 25% is perfectly normal for a year of quick charge and leaving it overnight. Just think that an sd410 probably consumes far less than the 820. I've found my phone using north of 2.5A sometimes
But yeah, yours had a manufacturing problem maybe

Try Accubattery, it tells you your battery capacity. In my case it degraded badly over the course of a year and a couple months, up to 2300 mAh. Now I get about 3:30 to 4 hours of SOT with AEX Oreo and Swift Black theme
same problem with my AXON, SOT aboout +- 3hours, so what do you think about battery replacement? Tried someone?

of course, many people did. you just buy one and pop it right in, and it gets to 5h sot without any changes. Someone at the Hellsgate thread reported 7h30 SOT with 25% left just by using a specific governor. You just need to have a good battery.
Again, try Accubattery and see how much capacity your batt holds
estimate capacity is 2281mAh...so...can you recomend which type of battery ebay/ali I can buy?
