Even the mid- low end Moto G4 Plus received June Security Patch but not so in the Z Play.
And it's due to the upcoming 7.1.1 update for the Z Play which includes June Security Patch also.
It's already july 7, So when will we get 7.1.1?
Is there any news about when it's releasing?
Because due to that monthly updates are also stopped!

You can sideload 7.1.1 since weeks. Then you have it. Normally not a big deal.

Not wrong at all.
Evwn it's great that Motorola/Lenovo is still providing updates to its devices in time.
Just giving me sentences support.
You should calm down. You're complaining about everything, even contacting Moto for ridiculous things like rounded icons.
Device is quite old, z2 is out but z1 is still getting updates. Slight delay is not reason to panic or opening a new topic.
Btw, how you're going to survive when Moto really ends support?
Get a life and use your device at is.

Point!
If things go the way they should. Google's 8.0 release will introduce an API at kernel level (project treble) so that phone manufacturers who get the the altered source from soc vendors can build their source on top of soc source more quickly. This will make OTAs quicker to release. But knowing every company is just going for profits they'll still drop old devices at the same rate.
This feature comes just for new devices (maybe witz Z3, Z3 Play and so on), but not with the 2017 line. If we want this, we should wait to 2018 devices. Maybe we get 8.0, but not with all features.

I know right. I'm tempted to get the LGv20, but I have a feeling that, this is it's last year getting updates
That's only said "No SECURITY Update."
G4 devices will get Nougat.. Waitingg..
Security updates?
Where and when?
LoL like we had security updates before. I only got 2 security updates since I bought it. There were never monthly security updates for the G4. I also starting to doubt for the Nougat update.

I had taken 2 major android updates and maybe 5-6 security updates. My device is H815TR. Now I am using v20i Turkey Stock unrooted(it cannot be unlocked).
As far as know if you have flashed right country kdz firmware, you will certainly take security updates
It only says no security updates, but still, if the nought update does not come for a wider variety of the G4 models, i will be very annoyed at LG.
LG really sucks! They provide updates for V10 but not G4. Ridiculous..
I can't even unlock my bootloader ? AndroidOne phones ain't sounding too bad, right about now. (Updates)

There is nougat beta for h815 which i use and full kdz for korean devices, so how technically u can say that there is no nougat? Chill, it will come out soon or later and it will be last update for g4 which is pretty old device in smartphone world. That said nougat beta is the best rom i had on my g4

Yes, I also think it will come out.
But the G4 is just such an old device beacuse it took so long for LG to develop the Nougat update xD
Are we seriously to believe that LG is spending any time developing Nougat for the LG G4 (other variants) now that Oreo is out, and they are concentrating on their (new) phones which they are actually trying to sell now ?
I think we've been left in the dust - again.

Are they serious, what are they talking about?! The last security patch I received was 1 year and 3 months ago... And this is on a carrier-free device which should receive the updates first, nice joke LG they probably don't even have clue that there's nothing going on.
Lol, 2018 is here.
Time to start breathing again - (if you were holding your breath, waiting for Nougat in 2017).
Is there ANY development towards official Oreo? A hidden soak test maybe?

Honestly, I expected by now to have heard something, anything really, about a MFN beta or soak test for Oreo... but nothing, it's been pure crickets. I have little hope of Oreo being seen "soon".

I sometimes fear they will ditch g5plus too like moto g4.
I bought this device because of promised oreo update. And hoped treble would be possible with some tricks.
When i used moto e 1st gen i received soak test mail in mid Feb after a survey in Jan. Indian received soak test after brazil.
There has been no survey yet! Man i am sad!

They won't ditch our device.. if they promised oreo for the G4 plus it is guaranteed that we will receive it before it.
I'm being optimist and guessing that a hidden soak test is happening right now (a lenovo mod said that motorola was working ln oreo for the G5+, i guess he means in soak tests) and that in april we'll receive oreo.
That's my last stop, in may i'll be flashing 8.1.0 if nothing happens..
I mean, i left a Nokia phone at a nice price for this device, because i always loved motorola.. guess i'm done now, wether we receive oreo or not..
Only if your battery lasts out, then no reason for them to supply update, just wondering from the manufacture's point of view, might seem cynical but they only make money out of sales, not update's.
ps works for every manufacture, simple science, make product, produce money

Lol... Keep your delusions. There made no "promise", only the normal blog statement back in September. If they said the G4 Plus would get it as well there is nothing saying the G5 has to get it first.
"Working on it" dies not equate necssarily to a hidden soak test, could just be on the dev teams daily morning meeting to do list. Soak test procedures are pretty well defined. About 30 days prior to beginning of soak test, a survey goes out to a group of MFN users, about 50% of that group will be selected for it. We almost always hear about both of these steps in the forums and on news sites, and so far nothing. The surveys usually prompt questions in the forums, and the initial beta releases to members of the group usually prompt release rumors even by Android news organizations.
Then a 30-45 day trial starts, if all goes well about 30 days after the test ends, the update is released. If it doesn't go well, it goes back to dev team and starts over with the same group. This can take a while, for the Moto X Pure it took almost a full year with Surveys and beta group selection beginning in Feb 2017 and the final Nougat roll-out completing in January this year.
I honestly do not expect to see Oreo until mid to end of Summer season at the earliest, but surprises happen.

The G4 plus was promised to get oreo, you can see on their official blog at the very end
And they said it will come later because it was not on their original agenda (like the G5+ was), so i'm right about the G5+ getting it first

Motorola's history here makes it hard to say their blog posts, the only "official" statements, are a promise, but I concede that they did actually use that term regarding the G4 Plus.
https://blog.motorola.com/2017/09/14/say-hello-android-oreo/
Their exact wording for the release timing was:
But it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading moto g4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit into our schedule, we’ll update our software upgrade page when we have more info.

Although common sense says this means it's on the bottom of the pile in regards to getting the update, there is nothing that says it won't get it's update before any or all of the other devices.

It's Lenovo. They promise all kinds of things, and wait months until everyone else moved on or forgot about it and then they ditch the phone support, show a new phone to buy, same promises, only to be dumped the same way. I won't even think G5plus gets anything, I mean they still haven't updated the Z line and they are now ditching the X line. Who knows, maybe they gonna ditch the G or the Z next along with the promised updates and just tell you to buy a newer phone.
I wouldn't bet a penny on their words.

You're wrong about the Z lineup. They are running Oreo soak tests for Z series
You can see now all the Z series and X series got Oreo.
Next is G series.
I'm glad there is finally something came when I clicked the update button after a long time. And here it is, February security update after skipping January and releasing it after mid March, what a great speed of updates. I was hoping for Oreo but Motorola wants to take their time I think. Expected to get Oreo by mid April or they'll just troll us by pushing a March security patch.
Update is of 57mb if you're wondering.
It's ridiculous how the heavily skinned S8 gets Oreo way before near stock Android Moto. Nokia on the other hand is already on 8.1. I hope Moto upgrade directly to 8.1 if they're taking this long.

It's not about skinning, it's about priorities - Moto Z Play is almost 2-year non-flagship device, so you should be happy, that you'll get update. Moto Z2 Force, which is newest flagship is already on Oreo for some time...

I read about project treble, it seems the problem with slow updates is vendor implementation. Lenovo just want to slow updates for older phones so people will get frustrated and buy their new phones. It's just a theory, maybe something else is the problem for slow updates. I think in couple of months they'll push last updates to MZP, no expectations for Android P because how slow they are pushing updates, it seems like they just want to get rid of their older devices. It's a common market parctice so I don't have any problem but thanks to XDA developers for making custom roms so users can enjoy new android in older phones too.
They used to be so fast when they were Motorola.. now they are a Lenovo company and SLOW AS HELL.
The phone feels snappier after this security update... maybe I'm dreaming

But still going strong. As said above, our phone is quite old and Moto is still supporting it. You got security update, SOAK testers got 4th build today. I really respect that they are listening testers' feedback, not just releasing major update and letting people to stuck with the buggy one. Which other vendor is putting so much effort?

So far so good but I have to check bugs other users are reporting. Some bugs, like stability, battery drain, etc. are showing up after couple of days. It's not clever to install update, test few things and then report right away that everything works.

can we sue Motorola for delaying the oreo update for g4+ as they promised during the launch event of the g4+
I realise this might be poking a hornet's nest...
What grounds would you sue them on? Did Motorola promise a timeframe to release the Oreo update, besides saying they would release the (unplanned) update at some point in time? I'm just curious about how your argument would go.
let me make this very clear, ALL devices which are scheduled to oreo of 2017 devices will get first the update. THEN work will be done of the g4 plus!! You can get pissed off as much as you want but you can only sue Motorola once Google themselves leave support for oreo and even then the g4 plus was not updated.
We were lucky to have nougat on time as you may know, g5 family didnt received oreo update. For now only z family and x4 got update as they are there premium mid-range and flagship phones. On the other hand they where not even planning to update our phone to oreo , so depay is given. We will not get update until g5 family get and they deserve more then us(they didnt even got 1 major update)

Keep in mind that last year, in February-March we already had Nougat on our devices, but the owners of G5 series didn't received Oreo and we're already in the beginning of May. See don't have any reasons to be mad at Motorola because they didn't update the G4 Plus to Oreo, as long as the last year phones didn't received their updates.
