Glowing buttons?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. When I'm in a dark room or outside late at night and my Evo is turned off the capacitive buttons at the bottom of the screen still glow, its very dim but still noticeable. They even glow when the phone is completely powered down and when charging. Any ideas?
That's odd. They should only turn on when the screen is on and when the light sensor detects little light. I am thinking that something is preventing your Evo from fully sleeping when the screen is off.
Try using a task manager and killing all the apps running, then try and see if the problem still occurs.
Ive done the task manager thing and even tried a master reset. seems like something may be shorted out inside the phone. it has NEVER been dropped.
This is normal. Its so you can see the buttons.
I have this issue also, it's not much of a problem other than maybe draining the battery a small bit more. I'm sure it's not so you can see the buttons as when the screen is off, the buttons don't function any ways. But as I said, it's not a big issue to me.
That's funny, I just noticed this for the first time yesterday as well. I really don't see a battery drain from it, but I don't like that something may be broken for this to happen. Any more thoughts on this?? Phone is otherwise perfect as far as I'm concerned.

[Q] Nexus 7 in non-rooting caused bootloop...

Okay, here's my problem with my Nexus 7. I went to drop a deuce (too much info) and woke up my Nexus 7 as it has replaced bathroom reading material, and well that's about it with a nice Galaxy Note that does the job just as well. Anyway, there was system update, (i'm guessing for 4.2.1 as I had just upgraded a week ago to 4.2 I believe). My battery was too low to do the update so it just quit on doing the update which was fine. When I was done with the tablet I plugged it in and figured I would hit it up that night when I got home from work.
Well, didn't touch it that night but when I got out of the shower the next morning I noticed it was awake. I watched it for a sec and the screen went to that tv off animation but much different, covering the whole screen and lasting a little bit longer and not really as smooth or animated looking, more like an actually fizzy screen. Then I noticed it rebooted. So I took it off the charger, it did the same damn thing again. Plugged it into my laptop and tried to power it on myself and it's unresponsive. Then, it turns on by itself and goes once again into a bootloop with the same fizzy screen. It also was only at 17% meaning it wasnt charging all day and if it was it was just using battery on the constant bootlooping (no idea how long it was going on for). So, I cannot use it at this point.
Anybody else had the same issues? Any solutions? Here is the link to the youtube video showing the actual problem.
http://youtu.be/uW_JX9Aorvk
fast forward to the 3:35 mark after the first power down to see the actual shutoff noise and fizzy screen. If you listen closely you will hear the actual fizzy sound it makes.
Lastly, my device is on 4.2 i believe and has not been messed with as far as rooting is concerned. Just the normal OTA updates from Google. Any help would be much appreciated :fingers-crossed:

Doze not working on S7 Edge Exynos Variant

Hi guys,
My S7 Edge's doze seems to have stopped working... Usually I'll lose between 2-5 percent over night (about 8 hours)... Now I'm losing between 10-15 percent..
Not sure what's going on... probably something draining the battery. I've looked at app optimization under the battery settings, and the only thing that is not optimized is the google play store. I can't optimize it either...
Is there something wrong with my s7 edge? Why isn't it going into doze mode?
GSAM battery monitor says it is going into doze, but that's obviously not true because of the batter draine. Samsungs battery infor graph, shows a steady decline, and not the typical flat plateud line that you se when you're in doze...
Any advice on how to fix the issue?
Bump... Can anyone help me out here?
Bump... Could really use some help please...
So this isn't a perfect fix but if you go into the Play store there is an app called Doze that works well. The icon is an owl. It's the first one of you search for Doze. I used it on my note edge and 6p.
Thanks... But it was working fine since I've owned it... It's only be acting weird for the last 2-3 days...
Well you should be happy with that. Mine turned from 2-5% overnight to 30-40%. Please update if you find any fix as I've been trying to fix mine for months.
EDIT: Mine only happens when Wifi is on though

Galaxy A5 2017 (A520F) overheating issue

Hi guys and girls,
I've got my A5 a few days back, and at start it worked great. I've messed up with a lot of software, tried everything out, and instead of uninstalling everything I thought it'd be best to do a factory reset. That's where my problems started.
While I set up the phone and installed all the apps (updated) that came with the phone, connected to a 100Mbps optical internet via AC wifi, I lost about 15% of battery. Okay, who knows what the phone needed to do, lets move on.
Next day I was just using Whatsapp, messaging with my gf, and the phone was a bit warm with 20-25% brightness (auto-off). The battery temperature was 32-33C, and I used an infrared thermometer and measured 33.5C on the back of the phone at the Samsung logo. Then I just browsed the settings, setting up my phone a bit more, and it was still getting warm, getting anywhere between 31 to 33C on the battery and around 33C with an IR thermometer. I still can't say much about battery drainage but the phone is getting pretty warm even while browsing the web or doing non-intensive tasks.
Does the A5 2017 get warm or is it just me? Should I RMA it?
Have a520f, 33C is near average. But it's also dependent on the weather. Fast charging or charging with the screen off will raise it. If it wasn't always like that, maybe something in the background is using the CPU, checking for updates or notifications. The CPU/GPU is like a car engine, running at various 'speeds' and 'weights it is carrying', and it does get warm. Only if it gets hot, then it's a problem. Many apps could do those checks once the screen is turned on. Uninstalling/changing settings will only help with battery life (percent drain), the temperature is ok. The a520f (and a510f) also has touchboost, temporarily raising the CPU clock when the screen is touched. Might be noticeable with background tasks while using a keyboard.
Thanks friend. Didn't know about "Touchboost", you opened it up for me a bit there.
While the screen is off, It's perfectly fine. Once I take it in my hands, it starts to get warm around the Samsung logo. It's probably screen + apps + nowhere to dissipate heat, but I wasn't noticing it at start. I've only had it for a couple of days now. I don't know about the battery drainage, with a charge lasting me ~40hrs with 7h SOT I wouldn't say it's draining at all - though my screen is at low brightness, 1/4 max.
Just wanted to see what you other guys are getting as I thought it was high. My ambient is around 24-25C all year long. I've seen tests where people weren't getting more than 30C at all, but as you said, it's the ambient that dictates that.
Idk if this is only with mine but sometimes I turn the phone off completely and put it to charge and it happens that it can reach like 35°C without touching it. Now the phone is plugged, I only browse with chrome facebook.. and it is like 37°c. That can happen when it is not plugged too. Using wifi seems to be better though.
I dont think I have an important battery drain because it can last about 6-8h SOT normal usage.
Onr other thing, when I turn on the mobile hotspot, the battery drains way more than usually and heats up too.

LCD Backlight Issue

Im having a problem with the lcd backlight and figured I would ask here. I've had a v20 rooted since Dec of 2016 and luckily have been spared from many of the hardware problems other users here have suffered. Just today, after watching Youtube videos for about an hour at maximum brightness, my main display just went completely dark. With the backlight bleed over from the second screen, I could see my display, but without it on I can't see anything. I'm assuming the backlight has somehow become broken. I'm assuming the only fix for this is a screen replacement, which at this point I don't want to do. Just curious if anyone has had this happen, or if by a miracle this may be bad software that is fixable without replacing parts. Thanks to any and all info in advance.--Philip
Edit-Just now thinking it may have been a thermal issue. Phone is still noticeably warm about 5-10 minutes after a battery pull and being shutdown completely. Smelled the back of the phone and noticed a slight smokey scent. Potentially watching videos at max brightness caused a meltdown? Idk just trying to figure out what the heck happened
Edit 2- So plugging in the phone while powered off to check battery levels has wielded wildly different results. Fist time I plugged it in it was 5%. Then unplugged and replugged immediately and it was 30%, and now a third time it is down to 10%. Wondering if the battery could be bad? Don't have extras to test a different one, but the original shows no signs of deformation. Wondering if a failing battery could cause the main display to disable. Anyways just another thought
Hello. I know its has been a long time but is there any update to your problem. I am in the same boat.
