Have updated until the update notifications stopped coming. Sitting on 6.0.1 with Feb patch. What can I do? I was wondering if this is a problem with stock rom and moving to something like pure nexus would help?
I searched Google (and Xda) and found there are people both affected and not affected by this problem. Any insights would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Edit: if needed, my SOT right now sits at 2h35m58s with 30% battery left. Have screen listed at top on things using battery most with 8% and it shows 5hrs worth juice left.

The same happened to me - new phone, ran all the patches, and craptastic battery life. A factory reset fixed it.

This says nothing.
What apps to you have installed?
What widgets are running, etc?

Thanks for info! I am planning to swap stock rom for pure nexus today. It will include a full system wipe so here's to hoping. Will report findings in a couple of days.

No widgets. `Google now` and `google now on tap` turned off. NFC turned off (Wifi, BT on). Listening for `OK google` turned off completely. Screen brightness managed by adaptive brightness.
Apps include the normal google ones that came pre-installed and whatsapp, slack, apple music, pebble time, harvest (timesheet app for work), pocket, sync pro (reddit) and 1password.
I did find out that the device seems to be awake much more than the screen. Seems like a wakelock. I'll have to root the device later today and install wakelock detector to see what's up.
Over 2.5 hours SOT with 30% left isn't the end of the world. People eek 6 hrs out of this phone either with greenify or naptime or they turn all the location and background services off.
I'm at 17% with about 3.25 hrs SOT now on a third party ROM without greenify and everything running in the background. If I get 4hrs+, I'm fine with that. I have chargers everywhere.

Yeah I don't really care about SOTs and stuff. Only put it here because I thought it may help someone think of something that might be wrong. The actual problem is, I am literally seeing battery percentage go down as I use the phone. I browse a few pages on chrome, maybe 15-20 minutes and my battery goes down 6-7%. Neither of my previous phones did that and none of them were known for their good battery life like nexus 6p. That kinda has me concerned.
I'd advice you to charge your battery full (leave it on charger for 30mins after it says that it's full). Then use BetterBatteryStats background while you use your phone normally all the way down to 10%.
Take screenshots from BetterBatteryStats and from battery (from settings).
There are quick toggles for Wifi and Bluetooth, no need to keep them on constantly if they're not needed. Bluetooth is known to drain battery for some users (not me though). Screen brightness is 100% with adaptive brightness? Are you always in a well lit area? I use 50% w/ adaptive. I usually get something between 4.5 to 6 hours of SOT.
Pebble time can be your drainer, I remember ppl complaining about it a while ago.
So I flashed purenexus with elemental x. It probably is better to let it go for a few recharge cycles before commenting but things are already looking very good For anyone looking at this in future, I suggest a minimum of system reset (or flash a new rom if you wanna go all the way).
I'll monitor the battery life over this week.
Hi! It is a first for me to post a thread here at XDA. I really need your help regarding this battery issue on my S7 Edge Exynos (Factory-Unlocked). The first time I got this device I was very impressed the camera, screen and most specially the battery life - hands down for this device. But I had an issue on my first device and the Samsung Service was able to replace it - the first device got a stuck pixel and then the replacement unit got another issue, another pixel problem. So, Samsung Service did is to replace the screen, actually they replace most of it to make it short they only transfer the internals from another new phone - the motherboard, camera, and battery even the back panel is new. Then after I got the unit and updated the OS to Marshmallow 6.0.1. April 2, 2016 security patch level I notice that it drains battery faster that the first time I got the device. I guess a 8-10% per hour when using it on LTE, locations off, sync off, auto-brightness on. Then what I did is visit Samsung Sevice to let them check the device, they hooked it up on their pc and run a diagnostic test and no battery problem found. I was wondering if my battery usage is normal. I was not a techy guy but I just compared it before it got fixed from 100% to 99% it drains I guess for 2-3 minutes and a screen time is 3-4 hours max and 15 hours on battery. Really appreciate your help! Thank you! By the way the apps I regularly use are facebook, instagram, twitter, social messaging apps and most of the time web browsing on chrome.
Paragraphing? Search? Did you try? Follow the links, read...
Yes been trying to search regarding this issue and found some but does not directly answer the issue on my device. Anyway thanks.
Facebook is a well known battery drainer, maybe install GSam from the play store and monitor what is draining the battery the most.
Okay will take note on that. Thanks alot!
I had really crappy battery lifetime and it drained juice like hell! I made sure wifi and bluetooth was off when sleeping(screen off). Tried every guide ive found but newer got to the root of the draining problem.
I did an factory reset and the problem was GONE. Now I have 1,8%/hour drain with normal usage included bluetooth headset connected, and 50% brightness with batterysaving enabled. kept 100% after unplugging from fastcharging for 1hour without usage.
If u struggle, try a factory reset! its simple, and if u have backup it doesnt take long to recover!

Look at your firmware version. If it ends in APD1 or higher, then battery drain is a known issue that can only be fixed by downgrading to APC8 or lower. In battery stats, if Android System has double digit (12%+) drain then you have APD1 or higher and the known battery drain issue.
Okay thank you! really appreciate your advices.
Hello all
First post on this forum, hope I'll do ok
I've just got my Axon 7 last Thursday. I had before a One+One and I was pretty happy with it, but I'm a geek so when I saw the Axon, well...
So on Thursday, when I first started the Axon and got the message "Do you want to reinstall your apps"? I said Yes and all the Apps I had on the OnePlus got installed on the Axon right away. Mistake?
During that first installation, the battery of the Axon went down like crazy. From a 100% (I had slow charged it the night before), it went to 5% in 3 or 4 hours. Got quite hot too. So I figured: "lots of work, let's see later" I charged it with the charger right after, fully.
The next day was fine. But I'm not a player, my main uses are the social apps (Facebook, Twitter), some text messages, one phone call that lasted 15 mins, web browsing, and some pictures (like 10) at night without flash. Got home last night with 10% left. Figured it was ok. So I charged it fully again.
This morning, waking up, the battery is at 80%. I haven't touched the phone... GSam says that Mobile Radio used 48% and the screen 34%. I activated the WiFi when I woke up and GSam says 18%.
I didn't have that "issue" with my OnePlus so...
My mobile network uses 4G but with my OnePlus, inside my home, I would only have something like H+ or rarely 3G.Maybe the mobile network is draining the battery. Since I haven't rooted the Axon (is it possible? I'm not too found of that), I can't used apps like WakeLock to see if something else is draining the battery...
I have installed of course the latest update from ZTE.
What do you think? Should I do a factory reset and restart from scratch, not reinstalling automatically the apps? Those are pretty basic apps btw, like I said no games, nothing fancy...
Or... do I have a faulty battery?
I chose this phone over the OnePlusThree because of its battery, I would be quite pissed if I had the only Axon with a defective battery
Thanx for your help and comments
If you have a 4g service and your phone's can't connect to it then I'd suggest switching the data service preference to 3g or better yet, keep connected to wifi. This is just to establish if the constant network search for LTE is what's eating up your battery. I believe the first instance of getting only 3 to 4 hours can be attributed to the install of apps. GSAM indicators are approximate if you aren't rooted but it's still good enough to tell you what is eating up your battery.
Maybe a clean start can at least help you test and conclude if the battery is actually at fault.
Btw, FB app is the worst offender as far as battery life goes. I hope your problem can be identified and fixed soon
I have a Canadian Galaxy S8 , so the one with Snapdragon.
I factory reset the phone, with nothing installed and the battery drain is 4-7% per hour with screen off. There is nothing installed on it. On my Galaxy s7 edge, the battery drain was 0.5-0.8% per hour when on standby.
Is this normal? My S7 had Exynos processor.
Even on airplane mode it's at 4% per hour on standby....
Anyone has similiar issues?
Thank you

Brand new S8+ (canadian model) battery is OUTSTANDING. ridiculously almost.
However, resolution is half-way - makes a huge impact and is indistinguishable. In fact the phone is snappier with the lower resolutions.
Alternatively, you can get legitimate battery drain you can't account for when you have poor WiFI and LTE signal - so this could be the cause of your battery drain.
Turn on airplane mode and remove the SIM and if the battery drain stops you have an idea.
I also have the resolution midway and I ran it on air plane mode and still 4%+. I'll remove the simcard and check. I'll also remove the external card.
When I removed the simcard the battery drain was 1-2% per hour. As soon as a I put the sim card, it drains more than 4%+ per hour.
Then I put the simcard on my S7 Exynos, in the same location, drain was less than 1% per hour. The S7 has 300+ apps installed while the S8 is fresh from factory reset.
I bought the s8 from someone on Kijiji, then the idiot who sold the phone had created a fraudulent account, so my phone was blacklisted (He even gave me the bill). So I got stuck with a black listed phone. So I changed the imei (using some service) and it's working now.
I'm not sure if changing the imei has caused this battery drain
I genereated a bugreport, but it can't be read google historian.

I have used better battery stats and here is a dump and screenshots after 3.5 hours. There is nothing alarming (no wakelocks) yet it is draining 3.5% + / hour, even if the phone is in deep sleep and nothing is syncing. Location and bluetooth are off too..

I really think the phone is defective. Here are some stats after few more hours. I will go a Samsung repair shop, I hope that they can fix it.
Anyone with Canadian galaxy s8 (Bell) has this issue? I can't figure out the problem .

If you look at the zip file i attached, it has betterybatterystats and some screenshots. There is nothing alarming, phone is in deep sleep most of the time. I sent the phone to Samsung today.
System panel shows what is actually using your battery and how much of it, is very useful.
Yes, I would say you have a defective phone. My S8 and several others I know of have extraordinary battery life. We find it one of the best things about the phone.
Same issue after repair!
I got the phone back from Samsung, they said they replaced antenna and re-calibrated motherboard and I still have the same issue! I used SystemPanel2 and my battery drain is in "unaccounted". There is no significant wakelock. Look at attached files.
Anyone has this issue?
I have the same issue. My phone barely lasts through the day.

Hello all,
So I know there's various discussions all over the web about the Galaxy s10 and battery issues on both Snapdragon and Exynos variants. It seems people are experiencing a wide margin of difference in avg battery life..
So here's my situation. My wife and I both have S10+'s through AT&T. We got them the first week they came out. I looked though the forums and performed several battery optimization tweaks on both phones and since then the battery life has been really impressive... No complaints really. Until this last week.
We both recieved the March security patch and fingerprint scanner fix about a week ago. My wife's phone seems unchanged by this. Everything working as expected. My phone however has been draining battery MUCH faster both in SOT and standby time. I'm losing 2-3x more battery % overnight. In the last 20 mins of just reading through threads on the XDA forum app, I've lost about 10% battery. I'm sitting in the dark with my screen brightness very low too. (down another 5% since I started typing this!)
My wife and I have very similar phone habits. Since both our phones are optimized identically, and we used most of the same apps a play the same games, I started looking through everything different I've done in my phone since this problem started. I installed Adhell3, which seems to be setup properly and working. Mike B. from Adhell's Discord assured me that Adhell shouldn't be draining my battery. I'm mostly using it just to remove a bunch of basic bloatware and block some ads.
The update seems to have worked fine otherwise. My FP scanner is much better now, but something is definitely wrong. I've tried wiping the partition cache afterwards. I've tracked down others experiencing issues after this particular update, but cant seem to find a way to fix this problem yet. I saw something about Deep Sleep problems after the update when someone uses a VOIP service like Skype or WhatsApp, but I dont use anything like that. I can't even find a good tool to use to see more information about my battery usage, as the built-in battery monitor lacks a good deal of information. CPUspy doesn't work on my version.
If anyone has any ideas of what could be the culprit, what else I could try, or what tools I could use to try and track down what exactly is causing this sudden increase in drain, I'd really appreciate it.
Which update do you have ASBA or ASCA? This is rather weird, Battery drain can also come from restoring from backups. I lose 2% every night and my phone is on airplane mode, not connected to anything except location. I do not have adhell, and last time I tested before the fingerprint update I had 10h SoT on wifi purely. When I got the new fingerprint update I checked if the phone went to deep sleep and it does, so I really do not know what might be your issue. I have an exynos variant btw. Also I charge my phone constantly from 80 I let it drop to 40 and charge it back, I do not use fast charging options. Since unplugging my phone now on LTE fully I have lost 1% in 30 min, I have my fitbit always connected, location on, max resolution, I have a semi black wallpaper and brightness around 40-50%.
I will see today how much SoT I can get from 80% part wifi, part LTE, I will update.
clear cache helped a lot of people
Update 1
Reset all phone settings to factory. Don't do full factory reset, just all the settings, fixed my post update battery drain issues
Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Update 2
Hrrm. It seems I don't have ASBA or ASCA, I have ASD3. The March update.
I'm really hoping I don't end up having to factory reset and manually install everything... Because I did do a restore from backup with AT&T Transfer, because it seemed really convenient and time saving. I had no idea that so many people have had issues with restoring from various back up services (AT&T, Samsung, Google etc.)
I did the same restore from backup on my wife's S10+ too and she's had no problems. Her battery life is phenomenal. My battery issues only started after this last update.

Well that seems rather strange to be honest, you can eliminate possibilities by just testing and see what works. Last possibility can be that factory resetting and installing all new, but then again, it could be that it solves your issues or not. You should be having rather horizontal lines to prove your phone is truly going into deep sleep in my opinion, but also you can check with CPU Spy
Sorry it will be this pic
Try to log too safe mode and check the battery drain
If stopped then it was from an application that have a problem
If not I think it might be a system app or something
So. I'm starting to think that some of my problem has to do with wakelocks. Unfortunately I have limited access to wakelocks statistics since my phone is unrooted. However. Last night I fully charged my phone right before bed and then took it off the charger to see how much it would lose overnight. It dropped a whopping 10% vs the 1-2% it used to.
I looked through some of the battery info and noticed several apps running in the background for very long periods of time since last night. Chrome(2hrs) , Discord(2hrs), Google Play Services(a whopping 13hrs 30mins running in background) and Google Play store (5hrs)
Somehow Discord was responsible for draining 7.6% battery in that time!
So, could this be a wakelock issue causing my phone to lose so much battery overnight? I know that's only half the problem, because I'm also experiencing higher drain than usual while using certain apps too. But I'm trying to figure out one thing at time.

You just need to tweak your settings more, put which apps do not run on the background or go to sleep, how many days you need to wait to put unused apps to sleep. Is all tweaking the settings.

Then I don't what you can do, either do a factory reset and so not restore anything from backups and see if that works. I usually set my phone that way, clean no restoration from any backup all apps are installed manually, and I do not even use adhell to disable most of Samsung crap apps and services.
