Phone Idle under Settings/Battery

What runs under "Phone Idle" on the V20. It's been the largest battery consumer for the last week of use that I've noticed. My wife's V20 is the same and I had my brother check his and his wife's V20.
I'm only asking because I'm not see great battery life like other have been reporting. I don't have live wallpaper, have only two widgets on the home screen. GPS is set to battery save, screen is set to auto but that doesn't even come close to chewing up the battery.
Sadly I feel like I'm still using my old 2.5 year G3 where it'll need a charge mid way through the day.

Pretty sad that needs to be done on a week old phone with minimal apps. I'm not even a heavy user.
I feel like I'm back on my old DroidX days where everything was a factory reset but never helped...

I agree with you. Although my phone is just beyond a week old and does have all my apps installed, a factory reset can't be the solution here. This is the typical "I don't know how to fix this" answer always given by manufacturers and carriers.

In the roughly 3 weeks I've had my V20 I've only seen this once where phone idle was higher than Screen. I started looking thru all running apps for 'keep awake' time being high and noticed Android OS had keep awake of over 2 hours when it's normally less than an hour after a full day use. I power cycled the phone and it stopped.
The weird thing was Android OS didn't show high battery usage even though something was triggering keep awake. Looks like the keep awake was causing phone idle to be high.
I'd look at everything in your battery usage to see if you have any high keep awake times.

Sorry did not mean to be short in my response. When you set up your phone did you restore it from another phone using the nfc bump thing? I did the same and my phone battery was the same way. Wouldn't last even half a day. After i factory reset and set everything up manually i get 18+ hrs with 7 hrs screen on time sometimes.
If this situation doesn't apply to you then maybe a reset won't help. But you have to understand your situation isn't normal.

Make sure Google now features are all turned off and not running in the background.

I'll have to go through the apps one by one like I did previously on my G3 and see. Now within the battery stats there is only a handful of apps like hangout, play music, chrome and camera. The rest is OS related so that's why I was curious what ran under Phone Idle.

No and sadly I was looking for that feature a week ago but couldn't find it so I had to individually install most of my apps I had on my previous phone...made for a long night along with the additional emails and configuration or icons and such.
I'll keep digging away at the phone...I really want to like this phone ?

Has there been a definitive resolution to "phone idle" battery drain? I just got a V20 2 weeks ago on sale for $360 and its a fantastic upgrade over the One+1 I've been rockin all these years, but I'm also suffering from mediocre life due to whatever phone idle is. Some forums (for other phones) say phone idle is related to your wireless signal. I'm still with the same carrier and frequenting the same locations and had no such battery drain with that old One+.

it turns google plays have this "locationmanager service " and locationwhatever" that kills your battery over wifi even with location button off

Go to locations/ 3 dots in top right corner/ turn off WiFi scan. See if that helps.

My phone has been suffering from poor battery life for quite some time now, here are the screenshots, Android OS has been this high on almost all battery cycles.

Phone idle is always the biggest battery draw on my phone too. I have minimal apps too. No Facebook or similar types of apps. I'm on a Verizon V20 stock with the latest security update. Is this normal V20 behavior to have phone idle consume more battery than everything else?

how about doze mode , isnt that meant to help with this sort of problem ? ( my phone is currently on a ship )

So what did you do?

Would also be grateful if anyone shared a solution.
I specifically have a SIM-unlocked Sprint model (LS997) which am using in Europe with another carrier.
Using it in LTE preferred mode drains about 10-15% overnight.
Using it in WCDMA preferred mode drains up to 5% per night (yes, wifi and cellular data OFF and many apps greenified) . So I'm really interested in how this can be fixed and achieve 0% battery drain across several hours.
Or maybe it's SIM-unlocked Sprint ROM related?? I can't root my phone since it has the Feb 2017 patch and is a ZV6.
I suspect rooting it and using another ROM would solve this + the annoying issue of not being able to send images via FB Messenger and Viber while on cellular data (I imagine the Sprint guys placed some kind of restriction to deny media transfer for these apps when using cellular data).

I have noticed this too.. wondered why "phone idle" takes most battery... any suggestions would be great!

I am also curious about the solution. Phone Idle is at top. Even without SIM card. 30% drains during a night (everything is disabled, but no airplane mode is on). I tried factory reset, reinstall older ROM, replace battery, use no app but still sucks.

my v20 phone battery draining was about 1% per hour before (about 7% totally ) and recently increased to 2% during sleeping time overnight. (draining 15% overnight in sleeping state)
it seems that during day either performance off battery is decreased.(about 5h with wifi and screen on usage)
Fast charging while second screen is On , is slower than when it is off therefore when second screen is Off , fast charging goes better . exactly , first 30 mins fast charging makes about 40% battery charge(instead of 50%) and after 60 min leads to 85% and full charging taking place after about 100 min instead of 80 mins.
another important thing is that sometimes shades have been seen on the LCD that many users have complained about it.

my actions are as follows :
phone is factory reseted. No third party apps is installed. [especially social media apps.]
battery calibration steps for not rooted phones is taken place.(turning off the phone and charging several times repeatedly).
testing battery drain in safe mode in done and didn't change results
turn off location services and location scanning for WiFi and Bluetooth scanning
turn off WiFi being On during screen is Off.
turn off auto sync, NFC, GPS etc.
not using auto brightness.
not using comfort view .

second screen is off during test overnight. (either with second screen is ON with faced down to lower brightness in other day test )
phone is in Air Plane Mode and all data services is off.
system apps like Google services and Play and Assistance is limited by permissions.

Idle Battery Drain

I've been getting a lot of idle battery drain after only a couple of weeks and it's very disappointing to see. I used GSAM Battery Monitor (after granting the additional permissions via adb) and it looks like my three biggest issues are Phone Services, the OS itself, and Google Play Services. I have attached screenshots below of the information from GSAM.
Anyone experiencing something similar or know of any way to fix this?

looks like it is your app usage not your screen that is using most of your battery. Try closing/uninstalling some apps.

If you look at the first post, the "apps" causing the majority of battery drain is the Kernel and Call Services. That's my problem, but I don't know how to fix this.

My battery is good. Can you go to settings, battery & power saving and take a screenshot of the bottom of the Battery usage screen. It shows what apps are using what, just like the app that you are using but stock android for statistics. Phone idle is using the most for me with 4% followed by Screen with 2%. I have had the phone on battery for 5 hours and 15 minutes from a full charge and still have 90% battery left. I usually end the day with about 60% or 70% battery life remaining.
Also are you using wifi calling? Do you need it? Turning it off might help your battery.
EDIT: also even if call services takes up 16% and you don't have any apps running then you are only using 16% of your battery. I you have 32 apps open using 1% each you are using 32%. From the screenshots it looks like you are using a lot of apps which means a lot of battery drain.

"My battery is good." Doesn't really help me man, mine was good for the first couple weeks I had the phone, but my usage habits haven't changed.
Phone Idle is at 32%, Call Services is at 12%, Screen at 10%, Snapchat at 8%. I use WiFi calling as there is almost no signal at my apartment. When I leave however I turn it off.

Ok, Yeah I was just using my battery as a comparison. Looks like phone idle is eating up a lot of battery and It is probably because you have low signal or because of the wifi calling. I use greenify and hibernation manager.... It says it might slow down the performance of the phone but I can't tell the difference.

What do you mean, "it helps with the idle battery?" What exactly are you referring to that helps?

I'm having the exact same issue with my sprint g6. Battery was fine until recently. Nothing has changed, no new apps or anything. Adb reports call services draining the most, just like your screenshots. Anyone ever figure out the culprit for this issue?

I haven't figured it out yet, but I really hope someone does. I read somewhere that resetting the phone fixes the issue even in the long term but I don't really want to back up all my data and apps and everything to try it.

Try using iRoot, maybe it can rewrite how your phone uses different apps to save battery.

Anyone have any luck solving this? I'm having the exact same problem with the same phone - Sprint LG G6 and "Call Services" is my primary battery drain.
I don't have particularly low signal - med/high for most of the day and I have wifi calling turned off. I've had this same problem across multiple phones (G5 and G6) as well as across factory resets on both phones. I used to get great battery life with my G5(~85% at the end of the day if I didn't use it much) and then this started happening about a year ago.
Wakelock detector is showing >1000 wakeup triggers from call services - the most by tenfold above everything else.
Seems like it might be related to Sprint/LG since Call Services has mostly LG related processes running on it, but unfortunately that doesn't help me get rid of the battery drain. Any ideas?

Before I went to bed last night, I flashed the XAA firmware and installed the gsam battery monitor, right now, I'm monitoring the battery performance and how long it takes to fully drain the battery

Give GSam Battery Monitor from Playstore a go. It can give you an overview of whats using your juice.

If you are rooted just install the XDAedition from post #2
If not rooted then follow instructions in post #4

Definitely some rogue app running in the background...

As mentioned above, use an app to monitor your battery. But I would also suggest installing an app to monitor your data usage, because sometimes your connections and data transfers are the culprits in battery drain.
Let us know what is the cause of this issue

Ok, so I've been observing my battery for over 2 days now, and it seems that the problem is my cellular connection. I took the sim card out and noticed that the battery hasn't drained for several hours. But I wonder why my galaxy s8 is having this problem, the sim card I'm using on my galaxy s8 is the one that I've been using on my galaxy s7 for the past several months and I didn't experienced the same problem on my galaxy s8

This is a strange issue because usually battery drainage happens because of background updates and data transfer of certain apps.
Can you try turning off your mobile data connection and see if the drainage persists? You need to isolate the issue in order to identify it

can confirm that switching data to 2G network vs 3G/LTE has drastically improved my standby time, massively, especially if there is no 3g/LTE in the area, the phone hunts continually for 3G/LTE thus draining battery, but after switching to 2G no problems, just means that internet is damn slow...

You can try hibernating apps that you rarely use. Also, phones tend to seek LTE; if it happens to be that you are in an area with bad carrier coverage, turn off your LTE.
On the other hand, try to uninstall unused apps and turn off Always on Display.
edit: also, check the battery usage of your apps. In my case, Facebook, Tinder (lol), Spotify, Messenger, and Snapchat are the apps that consume my battery a lot. Device Maintenance usually prompts me that about an app excessively using the battery. Nevertheless, hibernating apps would definitely help.

Do you know if the device would still be searching for LTE constantly if Wifi is connected? I'm just curious, I live in an apartment that has almost 0 data, and phones tend to pick and choose whether they want to be on 3G or LTE here. Definitely would be a drain, but I don't know if it matters if I'm on my wifi network..

No, I do have a very strong signal in my area. I'm getting an average download speed at 50mpbs and download speeds at 10mbps

I did a factory reset on my phone and let it just sit for the whole night. I left it with it a 100% charge and after 6 hours, it drained 20% of my battery

My carrier doesn't support 2g anymore. Also, switching to 3g still doesn't stop the battery drain

I turned my mobile date off and still got battery drain, and maybe a lot worst this time. I got 3% drainage for about 30 mins of standby. I have my wifi turned off

Try to install a data manager/tracking app and another battery tracking app and see if you can get any tangible stats out of those.:fingers-crossed:

My usage for the last 2 days until I decided to put a SIM card and enable data

Wow, this thing's battery is inconsistent. Good one day, bad the next. Within 2h 26m, my phone dropped 12% with only 27:38 screen on time. I listened to maybe 4-5 songs in Google Play Music.
Anyone know why Samsung DeX Home would be taking up so much space, and why playing only a few songs *that have been downloaded* is causing a decent drain through GPM?
Not sure what the deal is with Android System Kernel, but it looks like the wakelock is from audioserver.

My S8+ battery performance was not very good since I started using the phone. Installed GSAM and granted it the needed permission via ADB. Recently battery drain has been terrible because mainly of Google Play services as well as FB. Battery only lasted for barely the whole day and sometimes I had to recharge during the evening.
After a lot of search and trial and error including disabling all Bloat ware apps using BK Disabler (as per a post at the beginning of this thread) and which caused more problems actually, I re-enabled all apps again. I installed Greenify with Agressive Doze enabled and Greenifying system apps enabled, but that didn't help either.
Finally, that's what I did and which gave me for the first day since I used the phone 4h15m of SOT and still 54% of my battery remaining!
1- Apps installed: Greenify, BK Disabler (with plug-in), GSAM and Play Services Info.
2- with BK Disabler I disabled all FB related apps (Facebook, FB App Installer, FB App Manager and FB services) and installed instead any 3rd party app like FB Lite, Swift FB, Metal or Friendly.
3- Disabled FB Messenger and installed Messenger Lite.
4- In Greenify, I disabled Agressive Doze and Greenify system apps.
5- I installed the latest Google Play Services Beta app version 12.2.09.
6- I am using Power Saving mode with FHD+ but will try tomorrow without it.
The battery drain was dramatically decreased knowing that I am using 3 email accounts (Gmail, Hotmail and Good for Enterprise), LinkedIn, Instagram, 2 What's app accounts via Parallel Space, Swift FB, Messenger Lite, Telegram as well a bunch of other apps. I am usually using 4G and Wi-Fi while at home with a lot of FB and web browsing.
Hope this post shed some light and help on battery drain issue with the S8+.

My Essential PH 1 is draining a lot.
Phone idle is taking most power with approximately 17%. Screenshots attached.
Can you please advise if this is normal and ways to minimize battery drain ?

Are you showing off? because those are amazing numbers. You're on track for 35 hours! I get around 26. Your bigger killer is What's App, but that's expected for a Facebook app. 17% for idle means your phone is on and doing nothing 17% of the time.

Nope I am not showing off, I think i am having huge drains when I am asleep. Most of the time in that graph is idle time so i am thinking it should be better ?
Again I moved recently to droid from iOS so i am unsure of the droid power management baselines.

Cool. I didn't mean to seem mean, but those are good numbers. If your phone is on, and you have push notifications (pretty much every social media app, phone, sms, etc.) you're going to have drain. Even if the phone was off, the battery would drain somewhat. But you have What's App and other chat apps, so that'll use battery, even if your asleep, the phone isn't. It's the only way you would be able to receive calls, text, updates, etc.
That 17% looks steep, but it's all relative to a small screen. over the span of 20 hours and you still have almost 50% battery, especially with "free" apps that are basically advertising engines pushing ads at your every minute. Having Phone Idle at the top is not a bad thing, it just means you don't use your phone as much as you use What's App.

1% per hour is good, better than our S8 even

I had enabled "Cellular data always active" and it chewed through my battery life. I turned it off and can now last 1.5 days on a charge.

My phone is draining 12% overnight. And phone idle is top of the list. What does this phone idle do? There was a random night where the phone only dropped 1%. But most nights, it's draining around 10% with phone idle at the top.
Update: setting wifi to not stay on while phone is sleeping seems to fix the drain issue.

Does disabling it affect receiving messages that rely on mobile data such as WhatsApp?

Where is the "cellular data always active" setting? I don't see it. Have not updated to run Oreo.
My battery was dropping from 95% to 5% overnight. Did a factory reset which helped, but I'm still losing 17-20% overnight. Seems odd to me on a brand new phone, but I have never owned an Android before. I have blocked notifications and location services from nearly all of my apps. Any advice other than what has already been posted?

If your losing that much overnight it's probably a bad app.
I don't use it, but have read that the Facebook messenger is good for that. As in eating up a battery overnight.

I can promise you that that's not normal, especially for this phone. Overnight battery loss is minimal, 15 hours of idle with a 10% drain is what I'm getting. That's pretty amazing. I'd check your apps and ask the general android forums for advice. I also bet there is a rogue app draining you juice. chat and social media apps with all their pushed content and friend updates are huge battery killers.

Install accu battery ,charger to full last thing at night ,don't touch through night ,then see what's draining battery ,mine drains by about 2/3% through 8/9 hrs at night

It's under developer options settings. I have mine always active without draining my battery noticeable.
The social media apps such as snapchat, facebook, twitter, etc... are the ones draining your battery while your phone is idle so you need to disable their background data running.

The option to Cellular Data Always Active is on the Developer Hidden Menu. If you have it enabled you should be able to turn it off.

Thanks to all for the replies. I thought that restoring factory settings had helped somewhat, but it turns out not to have. Battery has just depleted from 100% to 67% in 3 hours while the phone has sat idle.
The only social media apps I have installed are FB and Whatapp. Notifications for both are turned off. Location services for all apps are also off. The only apps I have installed have been download from the Play Store and have run on my previous phones without causing any trouble. Those who replied all suspect a bad app, so I have installed ACCU Battery as suggested to see if I can nail it down.

Try this for one night. Right before bed....
1. Turn OFF WiFi
2. Reboot phone
3. Leave WiFi off after reboot
There is a bug in Google Play Services that affects many people on many different phone types since the November updates.
When on wifi, in certain circumstances (many theories on what the actually trigger is) it will cause Google Play Services to run non stop on certain WiFi networks causing huge battery drain.
In this particular scenario, turning off Wifi does not stop the battery drain. The phone has to be reboot.
I don't know if that is what you are experiencing, as you didn't say if it was an app or system taking so much battery, but I thought I would mention it in case it helps.

Why don't you look in settings/battery and see what is using the highest percentage of the battery?

Have looked in Settings/Battery, but am not seeing anything there that diagnoses the problem to my understanding. Highest use shown is Chrome (4%), then Screen (4%) then Google Play services (3%). ACCU Battery app shows the same. Battery is still losing 10-12% of its charge per hour while the phone is idle.
Have sent a message to Essential support to ask if they know anything about a bug in Google Play services causing battery drain. They have so far only suggested rebooting to safe mode and doing the reset to factory settings. Hasn't helped.
Will try shutting wifi off, rebooting and leaving wifi off tonight as suggested. Not really sure where to go from there even if that does save the battery, as a phone that has its battery drained just by being on wifi is useless to me.

If turning off WiFi and rebooting helps reduce system cpu usage, it is a bug in the software and not the phone. I can reproduce that specific issue on my pixel 2 and Samsung Galaxy s8, too....
If the CPU usage isn't from system, though, or turning WiFi off and rebooting doesn't help then you obviously have a completely different issue and need to troubleshoot further.

Update:. Nothing Essential support has suggested has helped. Battery is draining to zero overnight while phone is idle both when connected to wifi and when not.
Upon learning that I had purchased the phone at a Telus store in Canada, Essential have said that they can't help me further and have referred me to the store for assistance. I'm disappointed in the lack of support from Essential.

Samsung S8 Oreo - Battery Drains FAST

Hi,
My Samsung S8 since last upgrade to Oreo was a complete disaster. Just to be clear battery life during Android Nougat was good and it was the first thing ive noticed that samsung completely stepped up their game since their battery disaster on their certain phone model. Battery life would run at least from a day to 2 before recharging. Ive noticed there are other threads similar to these so i knew im not the only one affected, my colleagues also experience similar issues since upgrading to oreo so this is not something isolated to my s8 phone.
Few key points that ive noticed since upgrading to oreo:
1. Going to settings then battery usage. Screen would be the foremost battery hog at 26%, followed by Android System at 13%, then Device Idle at 9-8%. Cell Standby and Android OS remains normal.
2. Go to Settings then App. Ive noticed by checking each one of the apps that beaming services, device maintenance, settings, gear vr services were among the ones that took up most of the battery usage this is excluding system apps like AASAservice, etc.
3. Go to settings then data usage. The Android OS is sending or receiving 100MB of data (still counting). I wanted to know what are these data that is worth 100MB.
4. Device easily gets hot even light use of facebook, ig or 7 minutes of youtube video.
5. It sometimes restart, this is rare but ive noticed it since fingerprint cannot be used initially when there's a restart.
Now what ive done so far:
1. Cleared partition cache by holding bixby btn, volume up and power.
2. Disabling unused apps, even certain bixby services, etc.
3. Went to developer option and disable always on mobile data.
4. Factory reset device hoping it would go back to nougat but it did not. With a mint condition reset, it still drain too much battery. (without any third part apps or data restore)
5. Called up samsung customer service but was told to go to service center. Went to service center they check the ASOC of battery (which i think is unrelated) and according to them reprogram oreo. which did not help. wasted my time.
Now what is the implication?
1. I need to charge my phone at LEAST twice a day.
2. It heats up the phone which would definitely have negative impact on the longevity of this device one way or another.
3. It drains too much battery, with the amount of charge discharge multiplied at least by 2, this will literally messed up the battery life in the long run.
4. Im currently using 2 phones and my samsung s5 which is a 4 year old phone had better battery life. lol. Since in just 3 hours it consume almost 40% of battery.
There are tons of related post like these on different forums and on reddit but i surmise i should dig more on this problem before writing a more concrete post. At this point, i can only see 2 remaining options: 1. There is a step online that would revert the OS back to nougat but this would involved third party apps like odin, there are risk involved like phone brick, etc. Im not sure if it will void the warranty. OR i can just wait for a patch from samsung.
Now SAMSUNG NEED TO FIX THIS ASAP or provide us a way to revert back to nougat. With the s9 just available at the market, this terrible oreo release could not come at better time. I know there are several issues like the battery issues with their previous note model and Apples intentionally slowing down their phone, Samsung got to fix this fast before this issue becomes a blowout and many people will start to notice.

Man, i´m totaly on same boat!
In CRC7, i'm experiencing terrible battery life. Max 2.00 to 2.30 Screen on time in one charge. Now, for the first time, i have to recharge my phone befoure dinner.
Wifi , Bluetooth, Aod On, location history Off.
It´s the worst experience on any phone that i had in the past.
Like you, already disabled some apps, clear cache and already done a fresh install. Nothing works, nothing improved my battery.
I´m thinking send it to warranty, but it´s probaly not worth the time...
Maybe it´s time to forget about Samsung phone and move on. P20, or even iPhone X...

After updating to OREO and updating all galaxy apps, "beaming service" was draining my battery (67% of the battery actually). After uninstalling the updates on beaming service, the phone seems fine now. Maybe uninstalling the updates of which apps are draining the battery could help you guys as well.

ive tried that before but after fresh install. beaming service could no longer be disabled, nor its updates uninstalled.
Besides other apps are also draining battery like AASAservice, settings, device maintenance, etc.

I received an update yesterday for the CRC7 March security patch.
Battery life aint any better

You're right, that can't be disabled but I was simply able to uninstall the updates by clicking three dots top-right corner of app info screen. I've the latest version CRC7 on the phone by the way.

I've been s8 for three months and I've never had any particular problems, I've upgraded to CRC7 (second update of Oreo) and I've already got twice the phone with a flat battery:
last week in the morning I found it at 1% from 35% the night before (during the night only the gsm network was active, everything else off); when in doubt I did a factory data reset by installing only minimal applications (FB, whatsup and little else) and I installed the Accubattery application to monitor the battery.
Last night put away (active gsm only) at 65% of residual charge and this morning after 10 hours it was 5%: 60% of charge consumed in one night.
Android does not report any abnormal consumption of any application .... it seems an anomalous battery drain
I enclose battery data screenshots; is not that the new Oreo update is buggy? or could the battery or the phone power circuit or the radio part that consume excessively might have a problem? Before bringing it to service I wanted your opinion and in case I wanted to try to put back the CRB7 version of Oreo .... how do I do it? do I lose the guarantee in this case?

I have the exact same problem as you and many others. I have tried various things to solve it and I concluded on that the modem firmware has a serious bug . airplane mode consumes more battery than on cellular. To make sure we are talking about the same thing please try removing your SIM card and let it all night . By the morning you have to be -2% of the battery . With the SIM inside now you have to drain 15-20% . If thats the case for you , you make sure that its not a faulty device and there is no drain from your setup (like an application draining etc .. in this case factory reset should fix it).
Cinfirm your findings and lets hope they will release update soon.

he doesn't do it every night, but random : in a week it happened twice
It's not in airplane mode, modem is switched on only for phone line (LTE off) ; I already tried two factory reset
Yours is affected only in airplane mode ?

It drains in general but while in cellular it's difficult to distinguish if it's a bug or bad signal . Each ones phone may consume different amounts of energy depending on coverage etc. But in airplane mode you can be sure it's a bug because antenna transmission should be off and therefore not consuming energy . Just try as I said just to be sure we have the same issue . One night with airplane mode and SIM card in and another night airplane without SIM. You should see great difference .

Tonight ( gsm on ) have no drain : 0,3 % / h. ( 3 % in 10 hours ).
if it is faulty the battery should always do it?
Did you try to see if it drains, leaving the radio part active?

This will not help determine the bug because as I told you it's signal dependant. It's 3% in 10 hours because you probably had good signal . Else it could be more and even if you contact a service they will say it's not a bug but the signal . Anyway if you were with data on and 4g seems more than fine to me . Now if you try this night airplane mode for 10 hours it could drop 15-20% ... is this reasonable ?

in airplane mode is a bug, but a 60% night-time consumption with active gsm?
0.3% / h. the device was in the same position the night before when it consumed 60% in 9 hours

Your case seems more like a random application wakelock . Did you do a reboot between the 2 nights?
To distinguish better the cause of the drain , when you see an abnormal consumption try removing your SIM card for a while . If this fix the drain it's the buggy modem/radio firmware ...
