Update Moto app to 5.6 - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi friends, I've installed aptoide repository and it shows me Moto apps update. I was able to update Moto actions and Moto display, bat when I try to install Moto app, it can't be installed. I must restart the phone to have old version working. There is any way to install it without root? I have 5.0 version and the new version is 5.6.
Thanks!

Remove the one from Aptoide and use the one with the device (or update from the Play Store only)... it doesn't have the same model restrictions, that version obviously isn't for our device.

Unfortunately you cant update to newer version. Some things might work but you will lose the other. I wouldn't mess with it to much or you can nerf all moto apps. Ive tried numerous ways to update the moto app but in truth its really not worth it. You really don't gain that much. Different UI and small changes is not worth the headache. From trying to flash to put it as a system app to changing build.prop. Pretty sure theres signatures that Moto uses for those apps to detect variants and certain adjoining apps that you need to have.

[Q] Moto G 2014- Still No 5.0 Update?

Hey all,
I recently bought a moto g (2014) and when I went to update the software from 4.4.4 to 5.0, it says there are no update. The version I'am running right now is 21.11.17 titan_retuaws. When can I expect the update for this device? Almost all the other moto g second gens have been updated. Also for my last phone, I was able to flash directly from Google's stock rom website. Does Google or Motorola do the same for this phone?
Same thing here:
- new phone
system: 21.11.23.titan_re.....
Android: 4.4.4
whats goin on?
Same where. Indian users are lucky ...

You can do it manually if you don't want to wait
There are threads about how to flash the OTA and other info.

Good news for Brazilian users. About 5.1.1

Ok guys so i Decided to take one for the Team and tried the indian version of the 5.1.1 g920i rom.
Good news! Everything works perfectly, even the 4g, with was main main concern. I just suggest a dirty flash to keep your phone in the same language you have now.
You can also use locale to change your language back if you did a clean flash.
Well, that's it, give it a try if you want a taste of lollipop....
Yay! Could you upload the rom? Sammobile speed is crap.

Sorry to bother you here, but I created a thread asking about a similar procedure I want/need and so far nobody has replied.
I have a Sm-G920i with Australian Firmware (PDA and CSC), I just want to be sure that I don't screw this phone as this is paid by my office and can't take the risk to trip Knox or disable any of the original feature and future ones like Samsung Pay.
So, are you so kind and answer me a couple of questions?
1-) Did you use Odin, if so, just selected regular options and flashed, nothing special for this kind of things?
2-) It's obvious it didn't fail you, there are people saying that doing this fails with odin, but now that you flashed it, do you have PDA and CSC from India also? Do you know if future OTA updates are possible?
3-) Is everything working normal, all radios, fingerprint etc...? I'm assuming it should as it just an official version flashed, but just want to be sure.
4-) Have you read or do you know something about that supposedly, once you flash this Rom from India Samsung Pay won't work on it?
5-) Do you know the previous specific Region you had (PDA and CSC) can you check the ones that it's currently showing?
Thanks in advance, you'll be helping a fellow latin american guy that it's not a newbie on rooting and flashing roms but definitely I am a newbie with this specific procedure and because it's not a phone that I paid for, needs to be more careful than before.
Eu uso a operadora vivo.
I use a live operator.
I despaired when I realized that I installed 5.1.1 Rom had English and Indian, but had not en.
After giving up, I formatted my system and was already disconsolate and accepting defeat, but do not know because I decided to recover a Back-up my samsung account (I had done a few days)
To my surprise the Pr-br was activated, although if I am in languages and input not there exists our language

hi buddy
1. yeap, used odin, nothing special.
2. Pda and csc are from india now, and since i haven't rooted i guess OTA will work fine. Since the model is the same and i can't wait for brazilian carriers to update the phone, i'll keep instaling whatever rom is released first for this phone.
3. Everything is fine and dandy
4. I thing samsung pay won't work on this rom. They don't have it in india or Brazil, so no changes for me here.
5. i had the brazilian pda and csc. Now it's from india.

I really appreciate your response. Just one thing, about Samsung Pay, right now, it hasn't been released yet, so nobody had it, but a quick Google search for Samsung Pay India tells me sonething different, according to dozens of articles I found, apparently India and most if not all regions will be able to use Samsung Pay.
When I asked about it, it was more like I asked that by doing this something was tripped or flagged and teeth Samsung Pay won't work, but if because of the market, I think we safe by asking that it should work when is released.
Thanks.

Mine was an Australian baseband, I flashed this Rom with Odin and everything works as expected, only thing you will notice is that if you connect to Smart Switch app for PC or MAC it will still detects the Original CSC, I was curious about it and installed Phone info apk and it shows correctly the information, both PDA and CSC are now from India but it shows that the Original CSC was XSA (In my case), Firmware's CSC code is INU (India) and Active CSC code it says XSA/INU, so I'm assuming that it's showing multiple CSC.
Does somebody know if having the Active CSC showing XSA/INU causes future OTA issues?
**Edit**
I decided to remove the Re-activation Lock in Find My Mobile settings, and after that and enter to recovery mode, it changed the CSC to India, so for those of you with same issues, remember about Re-activation lock.
I live in Honduras, central America, got the 920I and yesterday I got a message about the OTA update which said it was 5.1.1. Haven't tried it because I'm not at home and there's no Wi-Fi in here.

Go to Settings-Language and Input-Language and choose Portugues (Brasil).

Why does Motorola not officially post their stock roms?

Does anyone know why Motorola doesn't officially post their stock ROMs for people with non-developer edition devices? It would be so much easier for us if they post their roms like other companies do. Is there a valid reason why they don't? It's as if they're trying to make it difficult to work on your own device and be able to revert to their own official build of Android.
I downloaded -48 directly from them. Google Moto g4 stock firmware, it's readily available. Why not a more recent build? Now ya got me. If I knew how to extract a downloaded OTA I could post for 1625 non-prime. Anyone know?

The problem is Moto g4 play (latest) if i use an older build and update, it'll brick my device. That's why i feel Moto should supply all the latest roms

Regardless, I'm fairly sure pre-Lenovo Motorola did this, but Lenovo has really screwed things up software-wise.
Is there a factory rom yet for 7?

How do I upgrade my new Moto G4 Play to latest Android?

I just bought a new Moto G4 Play and want to upgrade to the latest version. I tried and tried with no success. Here are the screen shots.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
What versión you want exactly?
Why does not test a custom ROM, at these all worked except DRM.

I am a noob when it comes to Android. I want to install the latest stock version of Android that doesn't brick my phone.
Try flashing 'lineage' 'resurrection remix' 'pixel experience' or any other rom of your choice they all work flawlessly and to eliminate chances of bricking your device just take a backup before flashing any rom or mod
but moto camera picture qulity is good. Do you have any other camera same as moto cmc
but moto camera picture quality is good. Do you have any other camera same as moto camera for custom rom.

if you have an unofficial recovery you will never be able to update like this.
it is best to download the latest version HARPIA_NPI26.48-43_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml and install it using fastboot
Latest version for Moto G4 Play is 7.1.1 Pretty safe bet these phones will not get OREO or Pixel. You have to go install Lineage or some other custom rom assuming you can root the phone. If this a carrier phone like Verizon XT1609 then all bets are off, these phones cannot be rooted due to Verizon encrypting their MOTO G4 XT1609 bootloaders. At least the xt1609 is getting security updates on 7.1.1.

I saw that this afternoon, too. August updates in October.
I got it today too. Lenovo is a bit behind on the times. I guess it's better late than never.
My son got super excited that he was getting 8.1 and I had to let him down easy explaining it was just a security update.

Definitely yes. It will fail if you're rooted, changed anything in system or have flashed a custom kernel. You have to be totally stock, firmware version NPNS25. 137-93-14.
Sent from my Moto G5 Plus using XDA Labs
Mine was rooted and last update -14 was with TWRP flashable. I had to fastboot reflash NPNS25.137-93-10 last full ROM, OTA update to -14 and then to -18. Now have to re-root the phone again.
While rooted I was able to download the blur-version in the cache but could not get the file to move anywhere from there. What's the trick to it?
Would appreciate if someone can make the NPNS25. 137-93-18 zip available somewhere.

You'll have better luck with responses if you post in English (per the forum rules).
What error are you getting when installing the security patch? Can you post a screen shot?
Is this patch getting pushed to your phone OTA, or are you manually installing it?
