Hey all,
I recently bought a moto g (2014) and when I went to update the software from 4.4.4 to 5.0, it says there are no update. The version I'am running right now is 21.11.17 titan_retuaws. When can I expect the update for this device? Almost all the other moto g second gens have been updated. Also for my last phone, I was able to flash directly from Google's stock rom website. Does Google or Motorola do the same for this phone?
Same thing here:
- new phone
system: 21.11.23.titan_re.....
Android: 4.4.4
whats goin on?
Same where. Indian users are lucky ...

You can do it manually if you don't want to wait
There are threads about how to flash the OTA and other info.

Nexus 5 , Nexus 7 , Motorola Moto x , Moto g and Moto e Will get first chance to get updated to android 4.4.4 .

So, what should we (those who have not received 4.4.3 )expect ,a direct 4.4.4 update or 4.4.3 first ?

hope direct 4.4.4 update...but not sure
These are just some bug fixes, I don't see why so much fuss about 4.4.3 and 4.4.4
There are not much significant changes, specially in 4.4.4

Security issue is not important to you ?
I think we will get 4.4.3 update and then 4.4.4 cz Motorola is working on 4.4.3 for moto devices...
and then they will work on 4.4.4...
or if we directly get 4.4.4, 4.4.3 features will also b ter in that, that's obvious!

Thats the only site that said moto x,g,e will get 4.4.4. Its not true. Yes they will or might get. But nothing has been announced yet. Besides its just security fix. about your question doesn't it concern you?
No. because the security hole is not applicable for most users who dont use that feature. The 4.4.4 security fix is for 4.4.3. we havent got 4.4.3 itself so nothing of that matters really. we will get 4.4.3 or maybe a direct update. But i dont think it matters either way. If new version does appear on I/O, that will be what that matters as it'll have some major change.
Only one major update and a few minor updates
Motorola promised only one more major update for Moto E. And I suppose, that one update will be for Android 5.0.
Android 4.4.3 has some bugs with openssl modules. Hence, Google made an unexpected update of Android 4.4.4 to fix that security issue.
So probably, we can get directly Android 4.4.4 update and then Android 5.0 update.
And future updates for better Android versions will be provided by developers.

Hello the update to android lollipop 5.0.2 just arived my device.
I was very frustrated the last time, cause there was no uptate for my device,
but it just came out.
Well I am hope that the time to marshmallow will not be so long
Moto E 2015 comes out of the box with 5.0.2! You must be talking about some other update. And update to marshmallow is mostly not gonna come Motorola didn't mention this device in their list

This is not right. I bought my device in a normal store for electronic goods. The device has no brand, is a regular device and 5.0.1 was installed - not 5.0.2

I think he said that because some E variants shipped with 5.0.2 (such as the Verizon variant). Some of the international variants are behind in updates, 5.1.1 (w/ stage fix) is the one that's desirable.

For those interested, in regards to Motorola's failure to meet update commitments. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/motorola-failure-to-meet-update-t3237398

This is true, and that may matter for some things but the important thing in this case is that Moto posed a 5.0.x update as 5.1.x, which is shameful, and there is a years-long pattern of failing to update that we want them to fix.
Recently the Android 7.1.1 update came out for the Moto x pure. If i manually flashed Android 6.0, stock and I am using a vpn, will the Android 7 update come to my phone?

If is 7.0 if this is accurate... https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/449/thread-id/19016/page/2 although it seems very limited rollout as of now.
And will you get it on VPN? Depends when your IMEI is up for it, your phone should display the notification but will need WiFi to actually download the reported 1.2GB update. The fact you're on a VPN shouldn't matter too much but it would depend on many factors.

Then it's maybe it's because I manually flashed the the stock image. And after the original 6.0 I didn't get the security update (not sure which month) which was released.
I just hope the 7.1.1 factory image is put up online, so we can flash it (just like i did with Android 6.0).

OK, stop saying 7.1.1 please (some people might get the wrong idea), it is 7.0 and that's it, no 7.0.1 or 7.1.0 or 7.1.1... and this will likely be the last upgrade we get on this device, although I do expect one more bug fix or security patch and this device will move into limbo for Motonova.
Will you get it over a VPN? We really don't know, but as far as we can tell, it isn't "really" rolling out yet, so have patience and see. Will we get the image to flash manually? Probably, but I wouldn't expect it before July... 3 months is typical before we see the factory image surface, but that's just from looking at it previous releases, it could be less, more, or never.

I think you haven't written build number correctly ?
Can you put screenshot of "about phone" ?
Have you ever flashed stock ROM in past year ?
UPDATE:
That's nougat soak version !! Right ?
Nougat soak update haven't got any update, you have to flash updated official firmware yourself.
See link for how to flash latest September's security update : https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138

you have probably flashed the soak test of android 7.0 over 6.0
Motorola have clearly said the people who have flashed soak test manually will not get OTA updates
the only way to get updates is flash the stock rom via fastboot..

Yeah..to flash the stock rom via fastboot you dont have to unlock your bootloader. And please make sure you are flashing the latest rom that is mentioned in the above reply.
