Contacts disappear and appear again - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

good morning everyone,
In my company, since October we are having problems with the contacts of Samsung devices. It happens on Galaxy J3 (android 5.1.1), A5 (android 6) and Galaxy S6 edge (android 6) devices. It happens that the number of contacts of the device decreases and increases. The devices have an exchange and gmail account set up. It happens with the two accounts. In the office 365 and gmail account the contacts are correct and it does not happen.
You know that it may be due? It's very weird, we've always worked with Samsung devices and has never had this problem and it's happening to almost everyone. We have disabled OS updates.

[Q]multiple ActiveSync calendars being merged

This is my first XDA developers post, so please let me know if I've posted this in the wrong place and I'll move it. I've been a silent user of XDA for a while now, it's a fantastic resource with some incredibly talented contributors.
I had a Galaxy S2, it died and I got a Galaxy S5 and now I have a problem with my calendars. Details below.
Old Phone
Device: Galaxy S2 GT-i9100
ROM: Slim-4.4.4.build.9.0-OFFICIAL-8301
Relevant Apps:
"Email" com.android.email version 4.4.4-8301
"Exchange Services" com.android.exchange version 4.4.4-8301
"Exchange Services" com.google.android.gm.exchange version 6.5-1520254
New Phone
Device: Galaxy S5 SM-G900I
ROM: Omega v17 XXUPOCF
Relevant Apps:
"Email" version 5.0.0.0200
"Exchange Services" version 4.4.2.0100
Mail Server
Zimbra 8.6.0_GA_1162 (build 20150225174718) FOSS
Situation
Mail Account has multiple writeable calendars, a shared writeable calendar and a shared read only calendar.
Both Phones connect via activesync (I did previously use IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV & CardDAV, but it was too cumbersome and unreliable, so I use ActiveSync because 1 moving part is better than 4)
Old Phone
Presented all of the calendars separately.
Appointments could be added to any writeable calendar(irrespective of which account owned it. Apointments for read only calendar can be viewed.
All calendars could be separately: identified, displayed and even coloured(via the Calendar Colours app from F Droid).
Problem with New Phone
Merges all calendars into a single calendar.
I can't do any of the above tasks that I could do on my old phone.
Additional Facts
Have tried a few different ROMs on the new phone, same result with one exception. The SM-G900I Alpha for SlimKat gave me separation, though this Alpha has other usability issues which rule it out at this time.
I have tried changing around the versions of the above softwares on the new phone to the newer versions, and even matching versions with those on Slim, but no luck.
I hypothesise that this issue has nothing to do with the Calendar app I use and all to do with the ActiveSync client, which I guess to be "Exchange Services"
I can use S Planner, Business Calendar 2, Google Calendar etc.. changing the calendar app does not give me separation. They all seem to have the ability to handle separation because the different providers such as gmail and local are separate.
I have not made any changes to the Zimbra server or any user accounts/mailboxes/calendars, and there is still another user with the exact same "Old Phone" setup as above, and they have separation working as my "Old Phone" did.
Thanks

Contacts not syncing ... s5 (and prev. s3)

I recently got an s5 after having an s3 for the past few years. (not a power user, just a normal old fart user). Was having issues with s3 when I tried a hard reset. Realized all of my contacts added for past months had not synced with Google and were gone. Wound up with s5 because of a the original reception problem that I was experiencing was not a software thing but a hardware.
With the new s5 in hand I added a contact, Samsung S5, to the phone. I added "Google Contacts" via the Google contacts page. Neither of the items synced on my s5. The "Google Contacts" synced with my Nexus tablet just fine. I added a similar item onto the tablet, "Nexus 7" and it synced as well.
The issue seems to have something to do with Samsung devices not syncing with Google contacts. Solutions????

From SG4A to Nexus 6P

Received a new Nexus 6P today, visited AT&T store and inserted SIM, phone works, all is fine.
Or so I thought...
While most apps appear to have installed automatically and I manually Un-Selected several Samsung apps so as to NOT install, there are a couple anomalies.
The major one is the Calendar as it appears to be missing many appointments and reminders previously setup on the Samsung S4 Active. There is no apparent Sync setting missing but out of 100 or so appointments about 20 or 24 are missing. That is just for April and May.,
Also, despite doing an AT&T Contacts Sync/Save before visiting the store, many contacts are missing. Is it a matter of manually pulling these from the AT&T Cloud storage ? If so, not clear where and how. The google contacts are visible in email and hangouts.
If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like you are missing this stuff because you are synced to services other than google. Samsung stuff and AT&T bloatware are not on the Nexus, so that could be why you can't access everything you had before. Sync all to google and you should be fine.

Galaxy S5 (SM-900I) Sync Failure after Marshmallow Upgrade

Marshmallow (Android 6.0.1) was released recently for the Galaxy S5 in Australia.
All appeared well after the upgraded until I noticed that new calendar entries were were not being synchronised between the S5 and my Google account. I checked my Google account in the phone and found sync had failed for Contacts, Calendar and Tasks.
After a trying a number of different things with no success, I finally decided to do a factory wipe and reset. Everything looked OK until I installed Business Calendar 2. After a little time, I started to get sync errors again.
The only way to recover from this mess was to uninstall Business Calendar 2, remove my Google Account, delete both the Calendar and Contacts storage data and then reboot the phone. Once the phone finishes rebooting, sign in to my Google account. The phone starts to download calendar events and contacts. If you install Business Calendar 2 again, the sync function is again crippled and you have to go through the reset process again.
I have contacted the Business Calendar 2 developers but they haven;t been able to help. I also installed Google Calendar but found synchronisation unreliable. Sometimes calendar events would not synchronise. However, there were no error reported!
At this point, I have had to resort to using Samsung's S-Planner app which is very ordinary. Better than nothing I suppose.
I have done quite a bit of research and there are many Samsung S5, S6, S7 and Tab S2 user complaining about similar issues after a Marshmallow upgrade. Some have suggested disabling Power Saving but was not a solution for me.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Regards
John

Samsung Stock email app and Exchange Server sync problems

All of the sudden over the past week or so, I am having sync issues withe the stock Samsung email app not recognizing read emails, deletions or replys, whereas other apps like Outlook do not have this problem. I tried removing and reinstalling the exchange account, but that did not help. I have made no changes to my server or to the app settings that would cause this issue. As an example, if I read or delete an email on my desktop or tablet, the phone does not see it, though it is receiving all new email. it worked fine up until a week ago. I use Office365 for exchange.
Anyone else having a similar problem with the stock email app?
I'm getting similar. I've removed/reinstalled the account several times, removed the partnership with O365 and still no joy.
Tried the MS Troubleshooting tool, and its suggested an SSL error, but doesn't give anything more than that.
Has anyone found a splution yet? (I can't use the outlook app for Android as not approved by our security team....)
Thanks
Could be connected to the updates they've done with outlook.com email. It stopped working on outlook 2016 for about a month.

Over the past few days, the sync problems seems to have been rectified, for reasons unknown to me. I was having similar issues with my LG tablet native email app, but oddly, no similar problems with the Samsung app in my Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) tablet. Regardless, I'm guessing that the problems were on Microsoft's end, as the sync problems in my S7E mail app and my LG tab mail app are gone now. I had to go in to each and manually delete or file a bunch of emails from 11-22 and 11-21, which is seemingly when the problems arose, but now all is good.
Exchange Server Sync problems Samsung G7 running Android 6.0.1 on Verizon
Started having sync problems after installing Web Guard. Email will sync when first connecting to server, but not after that. Connecting through a different WiFi everything syncs on the first connection, but no after that. Any idea where to look?
