Low MMS quality! - Nokia 6 Questions & Answers

Hy,
its been long time since I have android device. My last android was samsung S3 mini.
Now I have nokia 6 for about two week and having issues with very low mms quality. I am using stock Messages app from google and pictures I send to someone are unusable. I know there is compression while sending pictures, but.. not like this.
Using 3rd party app is the common solution I found on other forums. Really?!
Any idea what is going on here? New rules, regulations?
Phone and apps are updated to latest versions.

[Q] Multiple Slide MMS

Over the week and a half that we've had WP7 on our HD2s, we've discovered a lot a new features and lot of lacking features. I have searched the threads for a couple of days and MMS issues haven't been mentioned.
I was wondering if anyone has discovered a way of sending a multiple image MMS or slideshow via MMS.
To this date Im wondering the same thing.
the lacking features were the only contributing factor that made me switch back to android!
not being able to MMS video (highly disappointed as of 7720), no flash support (discontinued dev), poor battery life (yes i know this HD2 driver related and will never be fixed), and finally heating issues (while charging under heavy wifi use).
these were the deal breakers for me anyway. with an OS that has soooo many pros (dont get me wrong ... i rocked WP7 from the release of 7004 - BTTF 7720 and LOVED IT!!!) i had to keep my precious Leo running. it was really the heating that caused me to switch!
buuuuut to answer the question ... as of 7720 NO it wasnt possible ... unless 7740 has changed that.
Unfortunately still no video sharing through mms. Very disappointing considering it's nearly 2012. Other than that & not being able to watch many videos online, this is the perfect os.

perfect is a vast understatement IMO! i just dont understand why it lacks so many essential functions that are commonplace in every other platform! M$ keeps inching toward the goal, yet MUCH to slowly.
$0.99 handsets??? thats insane ... i fear WP7 is soon to be comletely abandoned if M$ cant take a huge leap ... and SOON!!!

My first htc device and possibly my last

This desire hd was my first htc device, i've been waiting a while to be able to upgrade to a htc device having read how good the old desire (with htc sense) was. I am not a rooter so just wanted a stock phone with standard ui. I took delivery of the phone the third day it came out through vodafone (non branded.. thank god), initially i was impressed with the sence ui as this was my first android and htc phone. I was also impressed on how quick they released a couple of "fixes" for the phone.. that is until 1.72 !!!!!!!.. i installed this the first time i recieved the ota message.. around the end of nov beginning of dec. Like alot of users at the time i wasn't initially impressed with the "auto" setting on the camera/video, but (thankfully to the excellent guide posted on here) this was mostly fixed (the only problem being that by the time you set the camera up the picture oppurtunity may have passed !!!). As a casual camera user this didn't really bother me, HOWEVER the screwed up sms/ringtone/notification tone/sd card reading faults do!!!!!. since the begginning of december i cannot count the amount of missed/never recieved sms messages, htc knew about these problems and now almost 4 MONTHS later they still haven't seen fit to make the newer 1.84 available to unbranded phones (although it does improve certain parts of the phone i know it also adds a few new minor bugs), the point is sms is prob the most important and most used part of modern day mobiles, so surely it would make sense (pardon the pun) the address the most commonly used parts of their "flagship" phone!!. The returning to the default (and mostly unaudible) ringtone and message/notification after charging the phone is really winding me up!!!. It seems to me they've been concerntrating so much on their new "flagship" phones they've left us desire hd users behind. They seem happy to just sit back and let the rumour mill spread the news about upcoming updates, having us guessing when the 2.3 gingerbread is coming (and all of us hoping all the bugs will be fixed in it, although they haven't even comfirmed this!!!!), instead of this as a large company, they should make a official announcement to its customers.
Yeah, because that tale is only true of HTC!!
Good luck with your new Samsung / LG / Motorola / Sony Ericsson what ever you decide to go with next. I'm sure they are all completely fault free and a quick Google search would show no results what so ever of similar stories.
Good bye for now, but I'm sure we'll see you soon on the [whatever device] forum shortly.
Yes in an ideal world HTC would have fixed these issues by now, but we don't live in an ideal world. The solution is at hand though through custom ROMs, or if you don't want to go that root simply downgrade back to your original ROM via an RUU. I don't think manuacturers in general have much interest once they have your dough and in fact HTC are one of the better ones with froyo making it officially onto the magic before samsung got it to the captivate.
I've used 3 android phones before my dhd and wow what can I say , try Sony Ericsson x10 ) , you will see what is lack of support and lack of custom roms ...
So be happy you have the best phone available on the market.
I know that no smartphone is perfect, but surely htc could have worked on a ota that rolls back to the previous less problematic software version (after all some of the users on here have managed it!). All the smartphone makers are guilty of releasing buggy phones and then releasing fixes throughout the products life (which seems to be getting shorter and shorter lol ), but what would happen if you bought a tv from a shop and everytime you switched it on you have to retune the channels back in. Thats how it feels everytime i take it off charge, i have to change the ringtone (searching through all the mp3s on my phone to find it), then run the star wars soundboard (sad i know but r2d2 is a really loud notification tone) select the sound to act as a notification tone (which it no longer does!!.. but if i dont do this process first the notification tone isnt even seen in the notification sound setting .. i then go into sound settings change the notification to r2d2, i then have to go into compose message, then sms settings and select notification sound settings again for it to change, so that means i have to go through three different processes to set the notification tone everytime i recharge. The settings of the ringtone and notification tones weren't a problem in the first few weeks of getting the phone before the 1.72 update .. also forgot to mention i dont recieve a notification tone or light most of the time while the screen is switched off.. when i unlock the phone i have to check the messages to see if i have recieved any.. just plain weird lol... thank god i have the best smartphone on the market
I agree with u , 1.72 is extremely buggy. From deleting sms , no notif, random reboots etc. What really gets to Me which I don't understand is why release 1.84 to branded phones but not unbranded phones. HTC released the buggy update to both branded and un, but decided to release 1.84 to bran users and leave unbranded users stock with this crap.

I got my dhd as soon as it came out, and despite having put custom ROMs on 3 previous HTC phones, I decided that the dhd was perfect as stock. With the initial teething problems rooting the dhd, I decided I wasn't going to bother.
This was, however, before I did the update to 1.72, and all the problems that came with it.
What did I end up doing? Rooting my phone, removing all the problems and drastically improving performance and battery life. I recommend you do the same, it would be a shame to not take advantage of what this community has to offer.

I own unbranded Desire HD from orange UK, it had one ota and currently has 1.72 on it, its perfect, I mean really perfect, everything works superb. Never try to root never gonna do as well.

SMS bug?Try Handcent SMS,Go SMS or Chomp SMS,all available in the market. In these you can even set your own music for notification! You'll have to turn off stock SMS app's notifications though.
Ringtone?Try this.Select your ringtone through the music app. Then go to settings and choose it from the ringtones list,it'll be there.Works perfect since I did this.
See?No need to root!
Although I'd recommend root,custom rom,overclock/undervolt,happiness!

But hopefully as soon as HTC release the update and dev start cooking roms based on that il try and make some time , il try the notif sound , thanks

I recommend you try rooting and using a custom ROM like RCMixHD, the true power of the DesireHD is only unleashed by letting developers get it working to its true potential.
That's the beauty of Android... if something does not work quite the way you like, it's not thaaaat hard to change it or tweak it... try doing that with an iPhone
Personally I rooted and went to CM7 less than a week after getting the phone... I don't know why, I just can't get used to Sense, everything is too big and not space-efficient, my eyesight is good enough!
Dude, why would you buy an Android phone and then use stock ROMs? It's like getting a Ferrari to drive only to the store with it... Root it, install a custom ROM, play with it a bit, learn something new, you can get it to work however you want it if you put in just a little bit effort...
this is my 3rd HTC manufactured phone (2x WM before this), and I really can't complain about the out-of-the-box OS/hardware.
Some minor gripes, but nothing is perfect.
I have rooted, S-eng'ed so I'm ready to move into the custom ROMs & kernels (still finding my feet with Android, it was second nature with WM) - however, for me the stock ROM is aceptable. My motivation is to get better engineering from our expert ROM chefs - & better battery life - but the brute power of the DHD bulldozes most of the OS inefficiencies.
But the recommendations here are the way to go, I chose Android since there IS great potential to improve the base product, through custom ROMs and apps such as Handcent:
root and flash a custom ROM! (spend some time getting familiar with the process, there are tutorials aplenty here, it's almost impossible to brick your phone)
over/underclock as needed
look for alternative apps that resolve your problems with the system apps (Handcent for SMS; Ringo for ringtone management etc)
& read, for example, some of the posts from the unhappy Galaxy users in their sub-forum here, and how Samsung set up that phone... you will see that the grass is not greener on the other side.
thanks for the advice guys.. im gonna give the official 2.3 ota a try (when it finally surfaces) and if its no better im definatley gonna custom rom it. I would never really consider this but it does seem the way to go to get the full potential out of the hardware... after all i cant make it any worse than it is now.. unless i brick it of course lol

[Q] Xperia X10 or HTC HD7

Hi there, xda people!
I need some help with my decision. I'm looking for a smartphone with a big screen, Wi-Fi, 3G, good camera and a nice design. both of them are ok for my needs and the price doesn't matter. So wonder if you guys, the experts can tell me what the benefits of WP7 are and those of Android. And also: Xperia X10 in Black or in White
What also matters is the compatibility with a Mac and if the device is upgradeable easily and without hacking it.
Wp7 doesn't have many apps at all, and is pretty bland IMO.
It isn't very Customizeable, and for me would be boring only having one homescreen.
You could put android on the hd7 though, so it doesn't have to be a wp7 vs. Android debate
I have an X10i and my wife has the HD7, feel to ask away.
Just a few quick points...
In regards to hardware...
The HD7 feels *much* slimmer but I think it's kind of awkward. I think the curvature of the X10 makes holding the phone nicer. The HD7's curvature is all wrong.
The camera is much nicer on the X10 but a shame that there's no led flash.
The screens are about the same (obviously, HD7 is larger) but I prefer mine as the resolution is higher. But if you're going to use netflix, the HD7 is nice.
The HD7 has a far better touch digitizer.
Software...
You're going to get more Android bias by posting here. If you want to compare stock vs stock, the HD7 is better. No lag, no stutters, no random freezes for 5 seconds (also, not any room for customizing besides the order of your tiles). A lot of common apps I use on my X10, I've begun seeing on the wp7 app marketplace. If you can live without some apps then you would probably be ok for now. WP7 marketplace is nowhere near the size of Android's, but there's a lot less crap software to wade through too.
But with the X10 getting 2.3, I *hope* it changes (and the HD7 getting Mango in the fall). And if you decide to run a different rom, well, then it gets into a whole different scope of discussion.
Upgrade...
As far as upgrading any of those phone on a mac... You can't with the X10. MS has software to do it for the HD7. To upgrade the X10 on a mac you would need to use bootcamp... i'm not sure if there's a flash tool program to load roms for the X10 on the mac (maybe someone who works with macs can chime in here).
u've never thought about the Xperia Arc?

I had used HD2 from HTC for a while, and I honestly have to say I don't like WM much, the OS is slow and freeze sometimes.
I switched to HTC Aria (AT&T) few months ago and everything is great!, Android is much better with free apps and the ease to customize anything you like.
I upgraded to X10 today, and still looking for some ways to unlock it, my cell is AT&T.

Of those, I know she uses gmail. WP7 works perfectly with it. I'll check it out later - see how the search works with it (and labels, etc).
She doesn't use google reader but I think there are a couple apps that work with it.
I know she uses a calendar service on her phone but i'm not sure if it's google's or live's calendar. I'll check it out this afternoon but I think it works pretty good with google's calendar. From what I read, if you put something in on wp7, it sets it as an invite and not event. There's a setting on the web based google calendar to display invites.
There is a google maps app that someone made. It works ok, it shows traffic and all the basic stuff. Unfortunately no real navigation option yet.
eizonuts, I'm guessing the OP is on T-Mobile USA. The HD7 and X10i both work on TMO's AWS spectrum.
It's really hard to recommend one over the other not knowing what the OP is looking for software-wise in a phone. Not to mention that the X10 receiving 2.3 in the next month is huge (well, hopefully).
Thanks for the insight.
Im asking because I'm eligable for a hardware upgrade soon and I'm trying to swap my x10 for a win7 handset for a extended trial run.
Once I pick a platform I'll use my upgrade on a top end handset for that os

Personal Review after using the Samsung for 7 days

Dears,
I would like to share with you my experience in the Samsung Galaxy S II after using it for one full week. My previous cell phone was Nokia N900 and I was owning too a Samsung Galaxy Tab. Currently I have my lovely Samasung Galaxy S II after losing the Nokia and Selling the Tab
So let us go into the subject, find below my personal review and please share yours as well but i want to highlight that I am a heavy user in terms of the following:
- Performing at least 2 hours of voice calling during the day (3G coverage - GSM).
- The mail is always in a sync mode (GMail and Yahoo).
- Gtalk, Yahoo messenger and Tango is always on.
- Surfing the web at least one hour a day.
- Heavy Twitter user @fadimck (if you like to follow ).
- Capturing at least 15 to 20 images.
Now let us check the performance in the first week:
First two days, the battery last for only half a day.
This was due to playing a lot with the setting and downloading all my previous stuff on the Market/Aptoide.
The last three days I started to use it with the normal pattern but i noticed a drain of the battery as it was disconnected at 7PM !!
I started to analyze every application to check which one is draining the battery and finally it was Twitter where it was on a push mode accordingly it was pushing Tweets all the time.
Since i switched off the push notification the battery is lasting since early morning (6:30AM) till now (8:10PM) and still 20% remaining and still using it with the above mentioned normal usage of mine.
Let us now share the experience of the OS:
- The interface is Ok and have no customization from Samsung and I like this since this makes the device faster.
- The camera quality is amazing and inndoor shots are great.
- Touch screen is similar to my previous iPhone 4.
- Like the swype Keboard than the stock one.
- Arabic support is amazing.
- Stock browser in not good accordingly i use Dolphin instead.
- Default office program is better than the one in the Tab where you can create 2007 documents.
- The weight is considered nothing.
- Working with the display in the sun is a real fun.
- Louspeakers are more than fine..
- Playing music on it is a different experience.
- Playing HD movies on it is great and i am waiting to test the TV out (since i don't have the kit now i will wait for a while)
That's for now and I will review it more in another week
I will post another post about the important applications to have but it will be in another discussion.
So please share with us your experience ....
Reserved for Future
You realize there's a half-dozen posts with hundreds of pages of discussion on battery life and AOS not being suspended properly?
Thanks for posting, ive got my GS2 a few months now and it's running flawlessly, on medium usage with Juice Defender Ultimate i can achieve very good battery life, was definitely worth the mucho €€€ i paid for it
II know and read most of them but i wanted to share mine

The review is good and helps people who are thinking getting the s2, xda is a discussion forum, a review is a discussion about a phone so what's the problem
I've been a member of xda for years and to be honest I don't know what's wrong with members all I see now is "already discussed don't you use search", "your question is in the wrong forum", "why have you started a new thread"... Why can't people say thank you for sharing your experience, or why can't senior members just help the person asking instead of criticising? If a member doesn't like a thread IGNORE IT......
I for one who is very well versed on the forum find the search system on the xda application hard work and unless you can search on a pc which isn't always possible repeat questions may be asked. This week I'm away and I committed a foopar by daring to ask a repeat question because I couldn't find what I was looking for jes did I regret it!
Thank you for sharing your review its very helpful for anyone thinking about getting the s2.....

I'm not sure what you mean mate by OS do you mean Android OS or something else?
I've had the phone about 10 days and I am a confessed phone junkie and this phone is the best phone in the world period. People who complain about nanosecond battery life or damaged units they received is another matter. Phone vs phone there is no phone that comes close when it comes to sheer power. Liking the OS is a subjective issue. As far as rating the PHONE and how it PERFORMS, it's as close to flawless in my opinion as you are going to find.

I agree with everything except the browser. I've always used third party browsers but I switched back to stock the last couple of days and stock is much faster and a lot less buggy than all of the third party browsers. And I've tried them all.
I think going back to something after trying something else makes you appreciate it all the more
Wish I could use stock browser.....but it defaults to mobile site display (stupid Samsung) and I hate that. Boat browser mini is amazing btw. Fastest on Android.

you need the user agent mod mate you can set it to desktop all the time
i love the sgs2 and the in-built browser is the icing on the cake for me
leomar2.6 and his kitchen app are immense and the support he gives is so much better then samung , htc , nokia , etc etc
its the 1st android device that i have felt ticked all my boxes and its easily the best phone ive had and i am a bit of a phone addict
i dont see a problem with user reviews either , i sometimes find them more helpfull then the big websites reviews as most are honest reviews , some are filled with fanboy stuff and others with new gadget love but most are an interesting read and its good to get different opinions before forking out £500 on a device or signing a 2 year contract
hope everyone has a good day
Nice little short-term overview, As some others, I agree about the stock browser being superior (in my opinion to all other platforms), certainly in speed and rendering.
Your comment on the OS looks a little misinformed? Samsung heavily customise the default android experience with their touchwiz overlay and framework.. However I personally feel it's very intuitive and certainly superior to motorola/htc's interferences with the vanilla android interface.
I'm currently using Cyanogenmod myself, although I'll hopefully be returning to stock when the 2.3.4 (or 5) update is oficially released.
RE: stock browser -
Your talking about entering the 'debug:useragent ' in the address box right...or is there an apk/zip mod?!
Entering that script doesn't stick tho...and becomes a pain.
If there IS a permanent mod 'fix' tho that enables desktop displays by default please let me know, cause gingerbread browser is great.
(but seriously,in lieu of stock, I've done fairly extensive multi site download tests and that boat browser mini is better (faster) than any third party browsers, and eqalled if not better our stock browser in download completion.
Thanks

Group messaging?

Hi all
I've been using the LG G2 for more than 2 years w/o dealing with group messaging until lately.
A friend of mine who just recently switched from iPhone to Android, has asked me about it and why she can't use it (well, message was sent to all recipients but as individual, not as a group).
I'd been telling her that Android has so much features that it has everything iPhone has and more.
Now, my turn to try and indeed, I CANNOT use it. I've tried with my parents phone, Motorola G, same thing, can't do it.
I've searched around and there was a lot of reports, complaining about this issue but it was 2013. Now about 2016, it is still a problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this? TIA
I'm using CloudyG2 3.3 ROM, my parent's MotoG untouch, my friend's Alcatel Idol 3, all using stock Message app.
By the way, we're all on AT&T
Some other info,
At first, I thought it is the limitation of Android OS but many other friends, especially a cousin who using the Sammy Galaxy Edge+ have no problem with group message at all.
I'm wondering whether it is device-dependent or something.
