not all apps showing on playstore - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Nexus 6p with latest pure nexus. I also have a stock samsung whatever for a beater phone. Samsung shows all nintendo games as shown in attachment. 6p isnt showing those games. And wheni do a google search on those games like super mario rhn itll showup but when i get redirrctedto the playstore i have an incompatiblity error with the app. Both phones have same email add and time zone settings ifthat makes any difference. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks.

@merbiyatch playstore hides apps it thinks is incompatible with your device. Also if your playstore is uncertified from root will hide certain apps. Try wiping data and cache from playstore and see if they pop up. Worst case can always get the apps from apkmirror.

Im sorry. Uncertified from root? Whats makes the playstore uncertifiedfrom root? Forgot to mention in the OP that i used to see mario run on the playstore on my 6p before i stopped using it for awhile. A while like, almost a year awhile. Updated it to latest pn didnt notice till today. Been running the rom for almost 3 months

The article above will explain what you need to know. Purenexus is outdated now and will most likely not pass safety net. So my previous comment of wiping playstore probably will only work temporary if at all. I suggest using a ROM thats more up-to-date.

[BUG] Market: Lost installed Apps history

It's a weird bug
after installing the latest market 2.2.13
it lost all my history of installed Apps
even if i re-install the missing Apps it will show momentarily there until i reboot the phone
Can some body else confirm this issue?
it will show all my purchased Apps as "Purchased" but not "Installed" even when the Purchased Apps are already installed in the system

I don't have that version of the Market yet, but sure sounds like a bug.
I think Titanium Backup (Pro) has a "fix market links" option...maybe running that will fix you back up.
I've got up to date market and 2.3.2... apps are missing in the market, my fave being Clockr (shallow vacuous person that I am)....
It showed up in the market before - it doesn't after the 2.3.2 update. Sound familiar?

i tried that already, but no joy
it only does it until the phone reboots
Clear Cache from Settings/Applications/Manager apps...?
Maybe a Dalvik-cache wipe also from CWM?
I'm sure you've tried those already, but just in case you haven't...
yup, already tried all of those obvious things
thanks for trying though
anyways that's why i think it's a bug
waiting for the next market update to see how it goes
Market apk
Could you upload that vending.apk with the version 2.2.13 please? I cant find it anywhere!?
I guess I'm not the only one experiencing this. I did an exchange and this one already had the new market installed (build date was 1/10/2011)...
I added my Google info and waited for all my apps to load up like my first three Nexi ... nothing.
Just never bothered to root yet. Oh well..

Not really. I have 2.3.2 and old Market, and Clockr is definitely there. It's not a protected app.

Clockr Evolution is protected... soz, my mistake, should've been more specific.
But what I was driving at is that since the OS update the market lags until Google fixes something to allow that OS to see protected apps. Suspect 2.2.2 N1 users are having similar problems...

I can confirm this has happened to me too, on 2.3.2 stock, no root. My protected apps are missing from the market, ledgerist and pacman championship. They are already installed, but they are not under "my apps" in the market, so if an update comes I won't be able to see it.
I read somewhere that it takes time after an update for the market to show these apps again, not sure if that's true.

It does, but only because Google is lame in this regard. When the OTA pushes out, update the Market servers to recognize it. Sheesh Google, how hard a concept to get is that?
Guess we'll have to wait it out until they update the device's profile on the market again.
I've just lost all my applications in the market. They are all installed on the device but market shows only 3 apps.
Did you find the solution for this problem?

If your device is rooted, you won't have access to the Movies section.
Nice, Google, nice.

Working on rooted defy. Movie section is there. But not willing to 3.99 to test it. Someday. Running good though. Looks nice. Kinda reminds me of wm7

Working great on my N1... thanks for posting
I noticed that some apps vanish from My Apps in the new Market. I had about 4 apps to update in the old Market, two manual because of changed permissions. I left it as-is and installed the new Market. In the new Market, only the two apps without changed permissions appeared as updates in My Apps. The other two apps had vanished completely from the My Apps list. If I search for them manually they will still show up and I can update them though.
You may want to try clearing the data of the market app
Install the new market using the apk from android central.
I like a nice little improvement to the notification: it says "updating" instead of "installing" now
Yet, it is not performing fast enough... I feel laggy when using it. And the new UI looks like WP7 (though I personally like this new design )
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
so it's not just me thinking that it's really laggy ... maybe it's not the final version?
or maybe we now need a Dual-Core Phone to use the new Market
It runs fine for me on the N1 most of the time. The only lag I've noticed is when it's fetching the icons for the apps on the Staff Picks screen or similar. When the icons have been downloaded it runs smoothly. I like the Honeycomb/ICS-like design.
Downloaded Market from http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/07/12/download-the-new-android-market-v3-0-26-with-support-for-movies-and-books/ I am not sure when it will go live in my country so Downloaded from there..I love it but Kinda fell Lag.I think it is new so might take few days/weeks to fix it over it is SO COOL on SGS2 but I have a Problem I can't see Movies Option I think Movies option is not Available in my country yet
Yeah, movie section doesnt appear on my market using MIUI Rom.
Anybody else having issues with Facebook since switching markets? Logic says it can't effect of but since I updated the market, Facebook won't load. Happened immediately after installing the market.
don't be so quick to yell at google for blocking movies if you're rooted
it's pretty clear the movie studios wouldn't give them the licenses for the movies unless they blocked rooted devices
i mean, i'm not agreeing with the studios. cuz are they REALLY worried people are gonna ****ing steal ****ty low res videos off their cellphone? there's SO MANY other(better) ways to pirate these movies. but whatever

The updater being DMClient right?
One thing to keep an eye on (I plan to disable OTA's on my two tablets) is battery life.
There are supposedly some instances where the system may think the OTA update is corrupt and will continuously try to re-download it in the bg affecting battery life. It's still worth attempting IMHO, just a tip though to keep an eye on your battery, if disabling the OTA affects it for you, you could unfreeze the dmclient service and use a different workaround to stop the OTAs
-For freezing, after looking around, these three apps seem to be best suited - Titanium Backup pro (obviously), AntTek & Gemini App managers (free)
I'll be Rooting then freezing OTAs on my Prime (ww .15) and rebooting it to ensure it doesn't softbrick. If unsuccessful I can flash a blob/format no probs, if successful, I'll root my Nxs7 JB, rinse repeat and report back
--
Successfully performed all tasks on the Prime (hooray no OTAs!!), it's rooted with frozen DMClient, no firmware download prompts since the service was stopped and frozen.
I have rebooted a few times to ensure it is not soft bricked and the App remains frozen
I will be doing my Nexus next since I do not foresee any brick issues, all I need to do is simply look into rooting it.
edit: seeing the several methods all require unlocking to exploit root capability, I'm going to wait out my DOA period (since Ive only had this tablet for 2 days lol) before I unlock the bootloader.
The methods discussed though work perfect for ICS, if you've unlocked and root then turning OTA's off is a sinch, with very minimal risk of a softbrick IMO
Thanks, I will try freezing with TB.

Just to let you know, everything's going awesome with my Prime, initially when I downgraded it, the OTA tried to download (i stopped it at 66 percent) and I just kept the wifi off while I rooted and disabled DMClient.
The bonus of freezing the process/service is when another update occurs ours should continue to block the FOTA, some other methods like modifying the build prop only work until a new update is out.
I'll definitely be unlocking and rooting my nexus to stop ota's

And what would that file be? Where is it located?
Disable using autostarts works...
I had my nexus 7 nagging me constantly to update too... rooted and heavily customized stock rom, different kernel, a lot of system files I altered... I really am not overly concerned about doing an update that might screw with any one of those components and having to go through the whole process of getting it where I want again.
I couldn't find this DMClient you guys are speaking of.
Here's how I did it:
Install Autostarts app.
Go to "After Startup"
Scroll down until you see "Google Services Framework"
There should be several of them. For me it was the third one. Touch it and read the bottom of the popup to find out. It will say "Receiver com.google.android.gsf.update.SystemUpdateService.....(you get the point)
Disable it. Done...
I don't know if there are any other repercussions to disabling this.. I just know it's not nagging me, and everything works still.
DMclient is a service, it's the most ideal thing to freeze since when stopped the OS will not even attempt to check of OTAs or attempt to download anything, plus it does not modify the OS in any significant way (i.e, editing build.props) so you can undo it with ease if you want. All you need is Root to be able to freeze the service.
I'm not arguing about how to do it... I just couldn't find dmclient , as one of the others stated as well. Just sharing what worked for me.
I don't know if it matters, but it's stock jb 4.1.1 on the nexus 7. If somebody knows where I can locate this dmclient in it, I'd probably feel better about doing that as well. Don't like the idea of it downloading or doing anything in the background if I don't need it to. I'm rather anal about background processes.. at least I have been in my other OS's so far... getting more familiar with the innards of android now... lol
Are we sure it's in this version? I don't even see it in ps in terminal. Unless the process I disabled with autostarts stopped it.
I might enable it again tomorrow and reboot and check ps again.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
You're right, I checked my nexus 4.1.2 and the service isn't there, the All area doesnt show everything but even using apps that show all apps/services it doesnt show up. :/
I checked my TF Prime which is 4.1.1 now (sigs outdated) and the service is there, it mustn't exist in AOSP builds or something
It seems as if Google has done a lot of little different things to the OS on the nexus 7. Some of the system components I've messed with relating to sound don't have any effect... I think they left some files in place but are utilizing something different for configuration of sound.
I see every mobile OS now is taking proprietary steps... I still gotta stick with Google though, because they are so heavily involved in the open source community and do a great deal to help the development community.
Next tablet is going to have top have more options for me... better usb support, hdmi out.. the ability to use a headset with Mic connection.. sd card... I am, however, extremely happy with my nexus 7 purchase. For the price and the performance.. can't go wrong there. They are practically giving away the 8 gb models.. barely more than cost of construction. The 16 gb ones aren't exactly a ripoff either..

[Q] Reboots

Hey Ladies and Gents,
I've updated my Note3 to the latest Update and installed Scotts Clean Rom 1.5 and it ran great until I started restoring my apps. Once all apps were restored (from the Play store, not from my Titanium BU Archive) the phone started rebooting and was stuck in a loop, couldn't get it back to the homescreen. Googled and found that some folks say "Remove your SD card and turn off the constant Wi-Fi scanning" but that didn't help, so I wiped and re-installed the Rom....all was well...until I restored my Apps again. I don't know which App could be causing this, they're all from the Play Store and all of my apps are Paid Apps (Don't like Ads in my apps so I pay for them if they have a Pay App available). Just wiped again and haven't restored any apps, but rebooted the device myself about 5 times, everything works.
Have any of you ever seen this before? Most of my Apps are Camera and Photo Editing Apps. I'm not going to restore anything because I need my phone work work, so I'll only attach my Personal and Work E-mails to it, but that's not going to fly for long. Apparently the Boot-Looping issue is known http://www.sammobile.com/2013/10/17/some-galaxy-note-3-units-experiencing-boot-loops/
Any ideas ?
Thanks.

LOL...I'm an App-o-holic.
I just downloaded another ROM for the new update, and I'll load all of my apps with that to see if it's isolated by ROM's or Apps. It's a snowy wonderland outside, so there's nothing better to do than play with my phone and figure this out.
Ok....this is odd. I've tried a different ROM and installed ALL of my apps, no issues, no rebooting.....so one of my apps doesn't like to play with Scotts Clean Rom.....hmmmmm. Seeing how there are only two ROM's available that are for the new OTA update, I'm going to stick with this ROM and install Scotts into another slot and then go one by one, and see why/how/which app is not playing nice.

Paid apps problem..Google not seeing license

Figured I'd throw this in the troubleshooting area as I've been in the trickster thread first. OK so I'll try to make this short. Here goes. I am having trouble accessing my paid apps or at least opening them. I have the donate version of trickster and tropical fish encyclopedia. Each time I try to open them I get a notification asking to please purchase if I haven't already. I am having this problem on multiple roms , gapps ect. I've run LS, mahdi, nameless, aicp and gapps from slim, pa, banks, tkruzze. I've tried going to an older version of the play store and of gapps with no change. What works though is tibu pro which is weird. So I figured will this work or will I have the same problem on another device. So I added my acct to my sons tablet and I dl'd trickster plus the donate and the tropical fish encyclopedia....and what do you know...they worked as they should. So now I'm thinking its something on my phone not communicating correctly w Google. I'm not sure how to proceed from here thats why I'm posting here. Maybe someone has some advice. Do I do a full phone wipe? Go to an older ROM? Oh also I rooted my g2 back in December when it was 4.4.2. I never accepted the official 4.4.4 but flashed the upgraded modem. Not sure if that helps.
Thanks in advance
I've seen people on google+ complaining to devs that paid apps aren't working on various phones. Its a Google issue as far as I've gathered. Uninstall and reboot, try again and hope it works
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Yea that's what I figure. It won't kill me if I can't access the apps just weird I got it to work on my kids tablet. Hopefully it will get sorted out. I may try an older ROM to see how that goes
