Windows Core on OP5 - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Microsoft Canada will sell Razor phone together with Galaxy 8(sold in all Microsoft stores)
You have to ask yourself. S8 and now Razor both Qualcom 835 with USB C. All one core demos Windows on ARM seen is on Qualcom 835 presumably on a phone motherboard...........
Windows support wifi, BT, USB, LTE via 835 what do you need? A phone app- SKYPE????
How hard to port on a phone. Windows 10 runs on almost any old hardware you can get your hands on..........So if the demos are already on 835 then you have to ask yourself again.........
I'm not a developer but maybe they could shed some light on this question. How hard so you think it will be to port Win 10 to OP5 when it will be released supporting Qualcom 835 probably later this month?

For hobbyist use? Probably not that hard. The only concern would be the motivation and the free time
For commercial use - useless! Microsoft will never go back there! IMHO under this CEO they are done with mobile devices.

Looks good, wonder if it will run android?
Looks like it probably would.. if it doesn't already. The specs all looks similar to android phones...
Are you retarded? It runs Maemo software designed by Nokia. It could run android but it won't.
looks very nice a little big though

wow reading the specs i was just like "wow" lol ... if someone is able to run android on it successfully i might have to leave my g1 behind... :\
its got an arm processor so it could run android(theoretically) this would run hero sooooooooooooo easily the only thing that would put me off this device is the 3 row keyboard ewww

I agree, 3 row is inferior. But ya know, I'll take that over on-screen or standard dial pad any day.
I'm hoping that ARM cores are doing the same thing as x86 did in the past, running more cycles at a lower clock speed. May only be a 72 mhz jump over the dream's Qualcomm, but the performance increase may more than you'd expect.... hopefully.

The device description says "Linux-based operating system". An Android-Port might be doable.
Plus the N900 has AWS(1700/2100) support... so T-Mobile US release in the next few months?
Very impressive and so kool!
Maemo is linux based device built on Debian system struct with gnome
Any information about system specs requirement?
is there way to hack it to run on another device?
WOW, finally I have found a substitute for my G1... Maemo is a very interesting system, and the hardware is Nokia; yes, when the price will become human (for me 300-350 euros) I consider the idea to buy it.
Asking to get Android on a Maemo device is like saying you want to get windows mobile on your windows UMPC.

Looks like it according to Tmonews.com. The FCC approved it a few days ago, so it shouldn't be long.
Here's the N810 running Android.

Can you please post some good links on which you based your last statement? I'm curious about maemo and would like to see how it's more open than Android. I'm surprised to see another open-source contender already...
opensource till T-mo get their hands on the rom. This IS an impressive phone. I was saving my upgrade for the MyTouch, looks like I might wait for this.

Yeah, I have an upgrade and was disappointed by the Mytouch, so decided to hold off and see what other Android phones t-mo had in the pipeline. I want something with a hardware keyboard. Anyway, check out this video of the N900 intro by Nokia...my mouth is watering!
It looks like it has flash built in too! AAaaargh!!!

Good,at least, the Zenfone 3 will have MIUI or FlyMe
Meco on Zenfone 2(4/64) & Tapatalk v.5!
Sadly the Intel Atom chip didn't really blow up in the smartphone and tablet market. It's still a long way to catch up with Snapdragon or Apples A-chips.

hmm, probably bad news for x86_64 Android support, but lets see.
Kind of a pity that this happens before convergent devices really start showing their promise, a x86 CPU would have been great for legacy apps.
Let hope that this will at least result in Intel making their awesome "Big Screen Experience" software for running GNU/Linux side by side with Android open source, now that they don't have any real interest in the space anymore.

Damn Intel! Makes me believe in their architeture could be good on mobile, and now made this.
Well, they could, at least, release the BSB packages with all blobs, sources and everything, to the community auto-provide the software support.

Intel left "mobile" for "internet of things".
If Intel stops making Atom chips for mobile phones, will that mean app developers will stop making/supporting the x86 architecture and focus more on ARM64?
The ZenFone 2 isn't the only phone with an x86_64 architecture right?

No, but it's the most popular. I see some Saltwell, some Merrifield, but the best and more popular x86 smartphone is Zenfone 2.
I think (focus less in x86 and more in ARMv8) its the natural step, lets realize as an app developer: "if the Intel doesnt give a sh*t for her own processor, why I have to do something for it? Is the market share reasonable?"
In another point: "I really NEED to optimize it to x86? It has an translate lib to run ARM, so, I don give a sh*t too."
It's a big blow to Microsoft.

Microsoft doesn't even care. Their smartphones packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs and for PCs they still have AMD to be supported by the company.

Well Intel did not pull out of the tablet marker yet, so Microsoft's tablets or surfaces or whatever they are calling them now are pretty safe.
If anything it is big blow to diversity and competition. Qualcomm may get comfortable and become stagnant.
Hooo sad news...
I'm gonna keep my Zenfone 2 Z00AD very longtime... It's the only one decent smartphone with x86/x86_64 support and KVM, wich have the possibility to virtualise an PC system, chroot X86 linux distrib', and run wine for Android (launching Windows APPS on Android)..

Nexus 5X - Windows 10 [Port][Leak]

The Google–LG masterminded device has all the hardware needed to make an example of the platform. After all, the smartphone is spec'd close to the Microsoft Lumia 950, complete with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset. The Lumia 950, however, has a Quad-HD resolution AMOLED display and more RAM memory.
Unfortunately, we have absolutely no idea where you can get your hands on a Windows 10 ROM or launcher for the Nexus 5x. The operating system hasn't been made publicly available, Microsoft won't be porting it to a non-Lumia device anytime soon (although Xiaomi handset owners might be in for a surprise), and the video is ripe with mistification as a whole.

Not sure why I would want this. Isn't Windows 10 dead on mobile?
Any news on this ? :fingers-crossed:
Imagine, Sailfish OS full-support with GApps and then dualbooted with this. Wow.
Download of this rom available ?????
Does anyone have the slightest idea on how they went about porting this rom? Did they just say screw it, and flash the rom from the Xiaomi Mi4, or would they have had to do any significant modifications beyond slight stuff, such as changing around build.prop and like files?

It's Windows. No modifications needed on a per-device basis. But you might need to replace the bootloader with a BIOS...

Ik that. But unless they've patches Windows to read kernel booting, then it would need a BIOS. You're probably right, it probably doesn't need that and can support it.

Windows 10 Mobile needs UEFI so...we don't have that here so we have to emulate it. Lumia 950 has the same SoC so it is posibile in someway to get it working on 5X.

So Microsoft is releasing windows 10 for arm chips specifically for the snapdragon 835 with an emulation layer
There are already unofficial iso builds

(I'm not allowed to post links yet)
Is there a project or a developer who is working on way to run windows on the s8??
Ps. Please don't respond with limbo, bochs....

Yeah officially they won't release anything for a phone. But at the end of the day it's the same chip, so it uses the same instructions!
Here are a lot of people writing their own kernels, I would guess that's not impossible for them....

there are going ahead to release at the end of the year and there is an unofficial release although Intel threatened Microsoft with a sue nothing happened.
Bootloader is the issue on the s8, it needs to be unlocked, wich is not possible on the snapdragon variant

So would it be possible on the exynos/eu s8?

My first Android phone was a Windows Mobile originally. Never stop dreaming.
With the WPinternals project getting a reboot I hope for nice Lumia 950 XL ROMs, preferably a stock Android 7/8 with working cameradrivers.
