Not as far as I know, only would be through custom roms which aren't available for your variant. If you want updates you'll need to go fully stock

My bank has released a new app which is only available on DVU1ANE1.
What's the best way to get this update with a rooted device? Do I simply download the firmware, remove recovery and flash SuperSU?
Or is there a better way to do this?
Surely there is someone who knows the answer to this seemingly simple request?

I have a rooted 4.4 S5. I want to update to the latest firmware available, but need root.
Flash a Rom based on that firmware?

I like stock, so it wasn't an option. Needless to say, the ROM selection for the S5 is rather low when it comes to quality. I prefer to stick with a stock ROM.
Anyway, I flashed the official ROM, los root and used Geohots Towel Root. Worked a charm on my G900i.
Alright, so I FINALLY got my S5 Rooted, but now I just need a custom rom. Which one in your opinion is a better option and why? I've heard cyanogenmod is good but I can't seem to find that in Lollipop at all so I either missed it or it's not available yet, so i'm lookin for some other opinions.
SIde note: I myself got use to Lollipop, is there a way I can upgrade to that and still keep root?

We have a locked bootloader so you are limited to the Roms we have here. Yes you can upgrade and keep root. Find the rom you want to run first. This will help you decide which lollipop firmware you want to run. Roms found here.

Gotcha. So I shouldn't use the system update in the phone, i should use a custom ROM.
Alright, thanks.

Ah ok, awesome! Thanks alot.
So I checked that once I am rooted, I will no longer get any official updates. Is that true? Any workarounds for that?
If I am on stock rooted rom, then how will I receive updates?
Anyone?
You won't. ..that's the point of rooting...an update is likely to break the root
Do we need to freeze anything to avoid an ota before we know it's safe?

So what's the option to update after rooting? What does the general majority do?
You wait for a dev to take whatever update was released to dissect and tweak and wait for their release.

Hello. As I know you wont get OTA update, you can flash original updated firmwares via odin(downloaded from sammobile.com). At the other hand you can flash custom roms which based new firmware, your choice. Thank you.
Ok so effectively, its better to put custom Rom as they will provide updates regularly.. If I install official firmware everyone a new update comes, then again I'll have to root it separately.. That is just irritating.. So better to go to custom Rom then! Thanks!
I now have a successfully rooted and unlocked VZW GS5 thanks to all you DEV's. Now in order to get Marshmallow, Should I wait for it to be developed here, or will it be possible to get it OTA when it rolls out to my variant and if so , will it re-lock my bootloader?
If you take the OTA you'll be unable to root period. So you best enjoy what you have and, if possible, wait until something is developed. And yes, the OTA will lock your device.
Has the Marshmallow update come out yet?

no
Take a look at this guys.... It's root for all variants on all the carriers! Pretty exciting even though the bootloader may not be unlocked!

Verified working on my VZW S7 Edge.
Sweet! Just a few questions?
1. This does trip Knox right?
2. Can we downgrade firmwares through odin? Samsung did not block downgrade?

1: Dont think so.
2: You can use this on the current update. You are not downgrading firmware. Just kernel.
I am rooted on Verizon S7. It runs a little warm and uses a bit more battery. I am most likely going to flash back to stock shortly. Does anyone know if I can use just the available firmware? Also do I have to use the custom ODIN that was used to flash the root or will the normal one do?
has anyone took a chance at this on the SM-G935J Japanese Variant??
Has anybody tried this on the Japanese SM-G935J Snapdragon Variant? I'm curious... would it work?

You have to use the kernel provided. It is a rooted engineer kernel. This is what allows root.
Any other japanese users try this?
