OP says in his wallpaper thread following:
What will be the impact on battery life after using these wallpapers?
It depends on the device and chipset, we cannot control battery drain completely as these wallpapers perform some heavy OpenGL task in the background. Snapdragon 835 is a battery efficient and powerful chipset so, these are perfect for Pixel 2/XL devices. If you are really concerned about the battery drain, please use All devices version as it is independent on the required library and hence less processing in the background. Although, some users experienced no battery drain and some have it. It is very uncertain and difficult to answer.
Working but why there is too much lag?
It really needs some good hardware so, don't expect them to be running smoothly on low end devices (like Snapdragon 400 and 600 series). If lagging in higher end devices (like Snapdragon 800 series) then, may be some GPU drivers issue. Please report with logcats or contact your ROM developer.
This question may dumb, but...
How to uninstall the already existing Pixel Launcher?

First, make sure you have TWRP backup > next install some lightweight launcher set it as default > download link2sd from play store > find pixel launcher in the app & uninstall it > Install pixel 2 launcher > uninstall that temporary launcher installed earlier.

Have you noticed it being heavy on the battery?
I've been switching between lawnchair and pixel 2 launcher (for like 7 days each) and it seems the idle drain on pixel is higher.
What's your experience?

Maybe Lawnchair & Pixel consume less battery, I see a slightly additional drain on Nova & Pixel 2.
what exactly? umm, maybe dynamic notifications or notification dots?

See how the clock and nav menu are in the same black bar area? I like how tablet mode lets you adjust brightness easily from the clock. I have the latest version 4.1.1.
Is it possible to enable this mode?

Yes. The N7 has a blend of phone and tablet mode by default. It's called Phablet mode.
There are several ways to get tablet mode but they all involve rooting. One method is to change your DPI via your build.prop file. I don't recommend this method as it can potentially cause compatibility issues with Play Store and other apps.
Another method to get tablet mode is to flash a ROM that has it enabled, such as Paranoid Android.

Do you mean like this???? Root and run a custom ROM such a AOKP.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yup, it runs a "phablet" UI, Phone UI with Tablet apps. This is because (probably) Google wanted the people who used Android phones to be familiar with the UI (since barely anyone used Android tablets before the N7, their market share was way too low ) But yeah, root and flash a ROM, I'll probably do the same soon.
If you change the DPI to 160 it runs a perfect tablet UI and no problems on my end with Rasbean Rom running at 160dpi. Not a big fan of the phablet ui and don't like the roms that run tablet mode at the stock dpi. Things are too crowded.
To me i like the notification bar at the the top..It keeps my from hitting it when typing.. VERY ANNOYING .
I dislike that most of the apps run in phone mode when they are compatible with tablet mode / split screen apps.So in my opinion google did not get the phablet mode complete. Its leaning to much toward a phone tablet.. The lock screen and main home screen should not have been locked in portrate mode ... The paranoid rom to me uses quite a bit more battery life . but its been a while since i used it ..Will try some of them again very soon..

The Paranoid ROM actually doesn't use more battery than any other ROM. It's the kernel that causes the battery to drain faster.
Try switching to Franco or Trinity kernel. I'm on Franco currently and the battery life is insane.

I've owned this for about a week and lovin it! I've already got it rooted! What ROM do you guys recommend that is stable? From what I've been reading, these ones seem to be popular:
- Code Name Android
- AOKP
- Paranoid Android
Also, kernel question, which kernels are good for the Nexus 7?
Has anyone noticed that it takes A LOOOONG TIME to charge your tablet?
Without a question AOKP.

As for kernel suggestions, you can't go wrong with Franco, Trinity, or Faux. I have tried each and they are all excellent. My personal favorite is Franco, though. It offers insane battery life with great performance.

[PATCH] True Tablet UI (Apps+GUI) w/o DPI Change for Stock & CM10 - Update Sep6
N7/R13
I used to have a galaxy tab 2 7.0 with ICS. It ran in tablet mode. I 100% agree with Google that the phablet split navbar/notification bar is much better for the 7 inch form factor. In portrait its not cramped anymore, and on landscape the nav buttons are moved out of the way so you don't accidentally press them while typing or gaming.
The problem is that this phablet mode seems unfinished. Too many apps run in single pane phone mode when they should be running in dual pane tablet more. This includes Google's own apps like the Settings panel, Google reader, YouTube, and so on. Also the launcher looks too much like phones. They should have done a bettrr job blending the phone launcher layout and the tablet launcher layout.
That's where Paranoid Android comes in. It let's me keep the (IMO) superior phablet UI and have dual pane settings and customize all the apps into whatever layout or size I want.

Touchwiz roms are full of unnecessary and useless apps (above 200MB-300MB). Many samsung services draining your battery very much. You cant delete Dropbox services it is integrated to your device with Touchwiz rom.

Five reasons why I love TouchWiz over stock Android
I know a lot of people prefer pure android, I guess I would too if I had a Nexus device. But I love so many features thanks to Touchwiz like the Spen functionality, and the page buddy for when I plug in my headphones. I also appreciate some of their widgets. I use Nova Launcher most of the time now though and I have to say... I still love it ^.^
I'd love stock Android as well. Stock is much nicer to look at.
But, good luck with:
S-Pen Support
100% Reliable RILD Communications
HDMI Support
All Share Cast Support
Reliable Bluetooth Support
Reliable Audio Support (People can't hear you, you're too quiet etc)
I mean no disrespect at all to the developers. The only reason those things don't work are because they're closed source and Samsung are less than helpful with getting them working properly.
I use the HDMI. I use all All Share Cast dongle. I have a bluetooth headset I use all the time and for business I can't be stuffing about with "Can you hear me? Can you hear me now?"
And really, RAM? That's a reason? The phone has 2GB, even with all the "bloatware" as people like to call it, it's got plenty of memory free.
The days of even needing root are nearly gone. I haven't rooted my phone, not because I don't know how, but because I really can't see the point. There's no compelling app that needs it anymore for me.
But yes, I agree with points 2-5. I wish the Note 2 had support for the above list items but without all the additional crap. That'd be perfect.
Go buy a nexus.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
There's a bunch of apps I use on aosp called GMD Spen, rotate and gesture control that mimics the touchwiz features. Other than that I find the only thing missing that's worth mentioning is multiwindow feature.

I'll give you my own custom cooked up rom with all the extra samsung useless bloat removed without touching any major core features. Then we'll talk about better battery life and less ram usage.
As soon as Halo PA Comes out....Goodbye Touch wiz, Right now the Multi window mode is my reason for not switching to an AOSP...Lets hope this best for HAlo

In most AOSP/CM based ROMs you can set it so swiping down the notification bar from one side of the screen brings notifications down by default, and the other side brings down this quick settings screen.
Also, a lot of the AOSP/CM based ROMs allow you to disable the quick settings screen and have normal power toggles in the notification drawer.
I'm more of a fan of quick settings, no need to scroll for options if you have more than 5 or so toggles like in stock touchwiz (which makes it less efficient), they all stay large enough to be easy to press (unlike if you use something like sf to put more toggles in without scrolling in touchwiz), and they're more customisable (a few AOSP/CM based ROMs have the option for custom toggles which you can set to do damn near anything)
i have a galaxy nexus and it's just boring. the holo look, no customization, no cool functions like touchwiz roms have.. a nexus running stock rom is just boring. a galaxy phone with stock rom is amazing. thats why i bought a note 2 and im completely satisfied with this one.

Post anything you want here as to what you expect from the upcoming os upgrade or any suggestions you might think that could be improved basing on your personal user experience. And hopefully Asus will read this thread and include any of your comments and suggestions.
So feel free to voice out any of your ideas even your craziest wacky out of this world suggestions are welcome here.
There is a very big possibility that android m coming to our zf2 is 64bit version basing on a asus moderators reply on zenfone 5 forum.
Cheers
@ASUS_Khang may this thread be a guide to your hq and devs so they would know what Asus fans really wants on the upcoming os upgrade. Can I get your support on this thread that in some way suggestions here would reach hq?? Not to pressure you or anything but only if you could relay, if not it's OK..... I'll try to repost each and every suggestion here via screenshot on zentalk.
So fire it up guys.........
I'll start with my personal suggestion
1.) os should be 64bit
2.) provide option for a dark and light ui
3.) make a on/off option for quick charge. As having quick charge always on till 70 percent will hasten the battery lifespan due to massive heat it general.
I'd like to see a "Google Play Edition" type ROM from ASUS, without ZenUI, etc. I miss my old Nexus 4 and that's the reason I've moved to Cyanogenmod on my ZF2. I know that will _never_ happen, but you asked us to post our "craziest wacky out of this world suggestions"

Me likey....lol
Get use of marshmallow multiwidow code or at least keep it available via developer settings.
More options for themes app, allow to change only status bar, ui widgets, icons.
Open Asus Cover api so developers could add new apps to cover lock screen.
Make dpi lower or add option to change it from settings (or developer settings?)
Doze function.
Anything close to real Android would be great... I would like to have the stock notification bar with quick options, I hate ASUS notification bar.
Also, ASUS apps would be optional and not hard implement on the firmware, I don't like to see ZenMotion, Asus Cover, Easy Mode, etc on my settings page, custom icons on this page also dislike me, they should not be mixed with the default Android settings.
No worries. This is a good thread to start. We'd love to work with developers and enthusiasts to make this experience the best it can be (For you guys AND ASUS ). Your suggestions will help and I will notify our team to follow this thread very closely. :highfive:

1. Not sure about this.
2. I've brought this up with the team already and they are considering it given that we've got dark/light options for messaging and dialer
3. Interesting idea

There was a discussion about this two months ago why a GPE phone is more of a hassle than it's worth. There's been discussion about opening up code for developers to mess around with, and possibly even a Developer Edition image that anyone can mess around with, but it's only at a conceptual stage at this point.
1. There should be material dark design ui overhaul... The dark colours are just black in ur theming provided apps(messaging, dialer)
2. Allow the theme engine to have more control over system like in cyanogenmod, miui .... Give it the ability to theme apps , change ringtones ,sound , boot animation
3. Allow root , maybe
4. Give option for choosing navigation buttons like in one plus
5. Make battery usage optimized and performance decent enough to avoid stutters
6. STAY AWESOME ....
Increase battery life and remove the bloat

That would be cool to see. I'm a happy CM user, so I don't need to see it, but I'm willing to bet the development community would love having it.
Just cosmetic changes, do not cause the revolution, because ze551ml is almost perfect device!
!!IS ALMOST PERFECT!!
So don't ruin that. Maybe some changes with camera?
By the way could Zenny 3 be a bit weatherproof please?
I have to make some comments because there is a lot of confusion about 64bit and 32bit.
Nowadays CPUs use virtual memory model that is then translated to physical memory. When your system has 4Gbytes of physical memory the Virtual will be even bigger and in order to address more than 4Gbytes of memory you need more than 32 bits (2 power 32).
Second thing that you need in order to address 4Gbytes is a 64bit OS. The memory management of the OS has to use 64bit addresses. ( a PC with 4Gbyte RAM and 32bit windows can address only 3.2Gbytes of memory). Android 5 in Zenfone 2 is 64bit, otherwise it wouldn't be able to "see" 4Gbytes.
Running 64bit apps is optional , a 64bit OS can handle both 32bit apps and 64bit apps at the same time.
The Picture/comment on the 1st post is probably about Zenfone 4 which uses Intel Atom Z2520 x86 CPU. Zenfone 2 uses either Intel Atom Z3580 or
Intel Atom Z3560 , both amd64 instuction set CPUs.
Cheers.

Yes, exactly. Our phones are running a 64-bit OS, in that the Linux kernel is 64-bit.
Code:
[email protected]:/ $ uname -m
x86_64
It is possibly to copy over 64-bit Linux x86-64 binaries and (assuming libraries are handled properly) run them without any problem. For example, I built static dropbear and rsync binaries to use in Android, and can run an x86_64 chroot Linux environment.
Having said that, stuff under /system, such as libraries and binaries are all built for 32-bit. This isn't a big deal, as long as none of those programs need to address more than 4GB of memory. In fact, 32-bit binaries may be smaller and faster in many cases than 64-bit ones.
Maybe there is something, such as access to more CPU registers, that would benefit things being built natively for 64-bit, but my guess is that any performance gain would be minimal. When phones with more than 4GB of RAM come out, then I think having a 64-bit userspace will be important, but until then I can't get excited about it.
Just one suggest, concerning Asus PClink.
The client software (on PC) is dependant of Windows... No Alternative fort MacOS & Linux.
I've tried with Wine, Crossover, VirtualBox (Windows) , PC link not working at all.
With VMWare (Windows), it work, but with many problems (many colors/lines problems).
So please, Asus have to do something about interoperability !
Edit : maybe an other idea, for game developers, when Vulkan API (OpenGL/OpenGL ES successor) will be available (need SOC compatible OpenGL ES 3.1 and Zenfone 2 have it !), it will be great to implement it, better perf & more energy efficient !

Every single dang phone that has been released people always cry about battery life. Get over it lol
If they decide to stick to pretty much the same zen ui for the asus launcher, then I have a couple of requests. The current launcher wastes a huge amount of space. I'd like them to lose the text labels on the dock icons and position them lower, like on the Google Now launcher. Also, if you use the search bar widget it, I would like it to be higher and wider. Now it is different than it is in the recent apps screen, and the way it jumps is jarring. However, if Asus insist on keeping the ui looking quite different from AOSP, it would be nice to have an option to switch between the asus settings and notification tray, and the stock android ones. That way, simply switching to android style and using google now launcher would give many users craving the stock android look what they want.
I'd also like more granular control of theme elements and ability to mix up stuff from different themes would be nice, but failing that I would at least like the option to apply the icons from themes/packs without also changing the app drawer button and page indicator.
Being able to choose between the hard keys and soft nav keys would be fantastic, particularly as being non-backlit the hard keys are difficult to use at night.
Hope some of these could be implemented.
Keep em coming guys, ASUS_Khang has already committed that this thread would be monitored closely. Let's fire up the suggestions whole m is still on the development stage for zf2.......
Cheers
I also would like some material animations in stock launcher and other stock ASUS apps.
Improvement in game performance and battery life, that is all that matters.
There are so many launcher available that it is a while that i don't choose my phone depending on the default launcher.
I know this phone is release for quite sometimes, it sudden shock my head to purchase it. Dunno why just sudden feel like want it and I not regret it. :victory:

Below is my own personal summary review about this device, it is the most difficult for me to write about it as it is a mix in between the feel on this phone.
Screen - It is absolutely gorgeous! Never though it will be that great since this phone now only cost around RM 1k in Malaysia market now and it is local set warranty 32 GB edition. The screen do look yellowish in initial firmware but this issue no longer there after you upgrade the phone. I check back all review and all mentioned how accurate the color are, I don't have any tools to check the accuracy but it just simply please my eyes. Simply stunning color and clarity. It is Full HD but it is IPS, it is far than enough for 5.2" screen. Nothing to complain on the screen.
Performance - If I said this phone is extremely fast and can compare with S7 Edge then I am absolutely lying. It is not, for current market, the performance on this phone is good but not stunning. Mostly apps need around 2 to 4 seconds to open but UI animation wise I can said it is extremely smooth and no frame drops, just you need to accept it take 2 to 4 seconds to open an apps. No issue for playing any kind of games include heavy 3D games.
Multitasking - 2 GB RAM definitely not good enough for multitasking, most apps redraw after seat background for sometimes.
Design - I actually find it kind of pretty and the black color does't look plastic to me with nice finish.
Pure Android 7.0 Experience - Opening the camera is lagging and slow which took around 4 seconds with bad and lag on the camera that need around another 2 seconds to steady back, I really dislike the camera opening performance, overall UI performance is smooth. The split screen is really nice to use also, simple and support nearly all apps
Pure Android 7.1.1 Experience - This is still under development preview but I find it far better than Android 7.0, it finally solved the camera opening lag and slow issue, the camera is smooth opening now within 2 seconds or sometimes instant, the lag is completely gone. The overall UI is pretty smooth and overall feel much smoother than before. I definitely won't go back and I don't find any issue at all in this 1st 7.1.1 preview. The apps shortcut is really cool and fun to play, useful for certain apps for example camera and phone. Hope this get utilize by third party apps in future. I really like the Android 7.1.1 just too bad Google decide not include the awesome Pixel Launcher and Google Assistant. Lucky I can manually load the Pixel Launcher and it will be my permanent launcher in this Nexus 5x as it just simply the best launcher ever done by Google, simple, beauty and smooth everywhere. For Google Assistant wise I just left it for Google Pixel. Not intend to root just simply for that.
Camera - Now I know why previously Nexus 6p or 5x owner so please with the camera, the photo output quality is extremely great, I love it color which not too dull and not too vibrant, it just simply look nice and sharp but not over sharpening like S7 Edge which look fake. The focus also ok, not the faster but ok, at least it is faster than P9 Plus but surely can't compete with S7 Edge focusing speed. Night time photo also no issue, it look nice and they do have grain but the grain is nice color grain and well control in acceptable level. In short, the camera is simply gorgeous!
Loud Speaker - loud and clear, no distortion, just too bad not stereo.
Battery Life - in Android 7.0 sometimes it can last a day, in Android 7.1.1 I notice it always can last a day, but for more than a day is impossible. I am an average user and connecting to my Huawei watch all time except sleep time. It is ok but not as stunning as my previous phone Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Huawei P9 Plus.
This phone is for you if you want to taste pure android with stunning screen, camera and cheap price.
My summary scores
Screen - 10/10
Performance - 7/10
Multitasking - 2/10
Design - 8/10
Pure Android 7.0 Experience - 7/10
Pure Android 7.1.1 Experience - 9/10
Camera - 9/10
Loud Speaker - 6/10
Battery Life - 6/10
Overall 7/10

The weather is functioning in latest Pixel Launcher from Play Store.
You just need to ask Google Now "show me weather now", and it will detect your weather and later it will automatically appear there.
great review, i must say totally agree with all you said, with rm1k the price for performance is great, 1malaysia :victory:

Hi, did you install latest Pixel Launcher where publish at Play Store? The one leak at XDA forum can't show weather, only the new release version at Play Store can.
You need to get it from others source as Play Store won't let you install if you not using Pixel Phone.

The latest beta for Nova Launcher added long press options and a weather option.

Would be nice if there was a widget you can use on any launcher that loads the weather. Weird that you can't find the shortcut

There is a way to do it I saw it a week or so ago. I believe it was in Google in settings find the feed option and turn it off. Then back on again and you should get weather in a little bit. Not immediately, but pretty quickly. If you can't find the method post back and I'll search for you. I just forgot exactly where I saw it. Maybe it was G+.
One of these things should work. http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...37597-weather-widget-home-screen-missing.html

They actually made an easy "Add to home screen" available now. Just Google search weather, tap the current weather for more detail, tap the burger menu in the top left corner, then you'll see this:

Oh you can forget my tip. It's regarding the Google Now weather shortcut. Not the widget.
Are you comfortable in your own skin? Is your phone comfortable in its skin? Rate this thread to express how you deem the skin on the LG G7 ThinQ. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it adds just the right amount of features, it's visually pleasing, and overall it's additive to the experience. If this is a Nexus phone (you didn't think we hand-wrote all of these prompts, did you?) then use this rating to indicate how the latest version of Android looks to you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I can feel that the skin of the device occasionally causes slight (and I mean slight) frame rate drops, just like the occasional hiccups in Samsung phones.
I started using the phone yesterday, and I am seeing less of those skips today.
Coming from vanilla Oreo on the Nexus 6P, I'm not very fond of the LG skin. It adds a LOT of extra baggage and only adds a few features that I'm likely to use. A lot of those features, I could get from using a launcher instead of having them shoe-horned into Android itself. The camera hardware is nice, but the software isn't the greatest...I'm hoping this will be improved. General yuckiness of the LG skin will likely push me to change it out for plain ole Android eventually...we'll see.
Settings/Developer Options/ tick on "Force GPU Rendering", Disable HW Overlays" makes the 2018's best phone smoother/snappier. If root available try L Speed/fstrim apps/Entropy found on Play Store. Install a custom kernel and play with kernel adiutor app. Install AdBlock too.

Any chance you can pull the APK for the Home Launcher? It has some new features I'd love on my V30
Though I am not at all satisfied with its Battery life, very high RAM consumption and pre installed bloatware, unlike Samsung phones (I owns Note 8 too at present), it has not at all lagged so far. Very snappy performance on LG UI. I have been using Nova launcher from day one on this device (and long before on others) and its absolutely awesome.
First Android in a while I've used (except Pixel 2 XL) where I haven't felt the need to install Nova. Stock launcher absolutely fine for my needs.
I feel like the stock launcher would really benefit form a list view as opposed to the only available "slide left/right" variant.
Also, my biggest gripe, is the fact that I have to force sorting the apps every time a new one is added. Otherwise it always ends up at the last position, no matter the properties. Adding, this enforced sorting only gives you one option (=alphabetically) while not touching any folders. So those items remain in the scrambled layout you've left them.
I'm missing an option to scramble the PIN entry layout and an auto-ok feature after having entered the correct PIN. Yeah, I'm a PIN guy. There's also a lack of Android's "Guest" feature when wanting to create a temporary second user account. You can only create other "real" accounts, with all their rights (although not admin), which isn't what the guest account would achieve.
Biggest plus for me are the "double tap" features the launcher offers and the way they have allowed the always-on-display to be used as a small settings app. Also the added soft buttons on the lower screen (you can reorder them and add extra features) are well done. I also feel like the extra "Smart Bulletin" page isn't bad although other vendors like HTC had more options and/or deeper integration to offer.
The "Gaming" features via LG's Extensions are the best though. That's useful stuff if you don't want to spend your whole battery on a old game being forced to run at 200fps (or something) and max resolution. Also, the quick menu via the "Floating Bar" offers a smart way to have your stuff available in any app without the need to switch back and forth.
Additionally, the currently hard-coded Google Assistant button is more useful than I initially though. I would still welcome a menu to be able to reassign it to the user's liking though.

The LG UI is a half baked UI when compared to other skins like EMUI, MIUI or even samsung UI. There are lots of clutter in the settings app. SMS app is that of Google, No dual app.. Not to mention bugs..LG software needs lots of refinement to be even compared with other popular skins.
Best way IMHO is to go for stock android version in which LG can include v their camera app and ensure release regular security updates..which hardly require huge resources. Customers will be ever grateful to LG..
The LG UX 7.0 running with SD 845 is a pleasure to use. Snappy and smooth all the time that I don't see any stutters or slowdowns. A real beast of 2018.
Settings/Developer Options/ tick on "Force GPU Rendering" & "Disable HW Overlays" makes the beast smoother, snappier. If there's a custom kernel, we can play with the CPU Governors, the performance smoothness can be taken the next level.
LG, if you are quick to release unlock bootloader after the launch of the LM-G710ULM (US Unlocked) atleast the devs can start working on the LG G7. 12th July to present. i.e 2 months why no bootloader unlock?
LG's implementation of the dual sim calling is bery primitive ..every time you want to call from either of the sim you have to remember to toggle the sim switcher..it deosnt have any options to set default calling options or prompt to ask which sim to use..its really frustrating for people who uses dual sims to make calls all tne time...
I installed Nova immediately, as I'm used to it. The other parts, which Nova doesn't fill with it's own functionality, all works fine.
I have found all the functionality that's needed for me without any particular effort.
Everything is smooth. So far very happy with this purchase.
Solid hw and I can't really fault the software for anything, if Android Pie shows up in a timely manner all will be perfect.
I've had this phone for about a month now and still have not got a case for it. Does anyone know of a good case that I can get that doesn't make the phone bulky and at least protects the phone?

I know I'm late to the party but I just got this phone yesterday -- in early 2019, it's a solid value even though it's nearing its first birthday. I've seen a lot of the other features mentioned but I don't know about these two. Anybody know what the above is referring to?
