Below is my own personal summary review about this device, it is the most difficult for me to write about it as it is a mix in between the feel on this phone.
Screen - It is absolutely gorgeous! Never though it will be that great since this phone now only cost around RM 1k in Malaysia market now and it is local set warranty 32 GB edition. The screen do look yellowish in initial firmware but this issue no longer there after you upgrade the phone. I check back all review and all mentioned how accurate the color are, I don't have any tools to check the accuracy but it just simply please my eyes. Simply stunning color and clarity. It is Full HD but it is IPS, it is far than enough for 5.2" screen. Nothing to complain on the screen.
Performance - If I said this phone is extremely fast and can compare with S7 Edge then I am absolutely lying. It is not, for current market, the performance on this phone is good but not stunning. Mostly apps need around 2 to 4 seconds to open but UI animation wise I can said it is extremely smooth and no frame drops, just you need to accept it take 2 to 4 seconds to open an apps. No issue for playing any kind of games include heavy 3D games.
Multitasking - 2 GB RAM definitely not good enough for multitasking, most apps redraw after seat background for sometimes.
Design - I actually find it kind of pretty and the black color does't look plastic to me with nice finish.
Pure Android 7.0 Experience - Opening the camera is lagging and slow which took around 4 seconds with bad and lag on the camera that need around another 2 seconds to steady back, I really dislike the camera opening performance, overall UI performance is smooth. The split screen is really nice to use also, simple and support nearly all apps
Pure Android 7.1.1 Experience - This is still under development preview but I find it far better than Android 7.0, it finally solved the camera opening lag and slow issue, the camera is smooth opening now within 2 seconds or sometimes instant, the lag is completely gone. The overall UI is pretty smooth and overall feel much smoother than before. I definitely won't go back and I don't find any issue at all in this 1st 7.1.1 preview. The apps shortcut is really cool and fun to play, useful for certain apps for example camera and phone. Hope this get utilize by third party apps in future. I really like the Android 7.1.1 just too bad Google decide not include the awesome Pixel Launcher and Google Assistant. Lucky I can manually load the Pixel Launcher and it will be my permanent launcher in this Nexus 5x as it just simply the best launcher ever done by Google, simple, beauty and smooth everywhere. For Google Assistant wise I just left it for Google Pixel. Not intend to root just simply for that.
Camera - Now I know why previously Nexus 6p or 5x owner so please with the camera, the photo output quality is extremely great, I love it color which not too dull and not too vibrant, it just simply look nice and sharp but not over sharpening like S7 Edge which look fake. The focus also ok, not the faster but ok, at least it is faster than P9 Plus but surely can't compete with S7 Edge focusing speed. Night time photo also no issue, it look nice and they do have grain but the grain is nice color grain and well control in acceptable level. In short, the camera is simply gorgeous!
Loud Speaker - loud and clear, no distortion, just too bad not stereo.
Battery Life - in Android 7.0 sometimes it can last a day, in Android 7.1.1 I notice it always can last a day, but for more than a day is impossible. I am an average user and connecting to my Huawei watch all time except sleep time. It is ok but not as stunning as my previous phone Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Huawei P9 Plus.
This phone is for you if you want to taste pure android with stunning screen, camera and cheap price.
My summary scores
Screen - 10/10
Performance - 7/10
Multitasking - 2/10
Design - 8/10
Pure Android 7.0 Experience - 7/10
Pure Android 7.1.1 Experience - 9/10
Camera - 9/10
Loud Speaker - 6/10
Battery Life - 6/10
Overall 7/10

Mate, how did You put the weather widget there? The photos are great, our nexus 5x is just insane, it's well balanced (performance-price), i just love quick charging option and the fingerprint speed.

The weather is functioning in latest Pixel Launcher from Play Store.
You just need to ask Google Now "show me weather now", and it will detect your weather and later it will automatically appear there.
great review, i must say totally agree with all you said, with rm1k the price for performance is great, 1malaysia :victory:

Hi, did you install latest Pixel Launcher where publish at Play Store? The one leak at XDA forum can't show weather, only the new release version at Play Store can.
You need to get it from others source as Play Store won't let you install if you not using Pixel Phone.

The latest beta for Nova Launcher added long press options and a weather option.

Would be nice if there was a widget you can use on any launcher that loads the weather. Weird that you can't find the shortcut

There is a way to do it I saw it a week or so ago. I believe it was in Google in settings find the feed option and turn it off. Then back on again and you should get weather in a little bit. Not immediately, but pretty quickly. If you can't find the method post back and I'll search for you. I just forgot exactly where I saw it. Maybe it was G+.
One of these things should work. http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...37597-weather-widget-home-screen-missing.html

They actually made an easy "Add to home screen" available now. Just Google search weather, tap the current weather for more detail, tap the burger menu in the top left corner, then you'll see this:

Oh you can forget my tip. It's regarding the Google Now weather shortcut. Not the widget.

I am really miffed at this.
I think it is a big google mistake that we spend the money on these 10.1 inch devices only to have 5+% of the screen constantly used up a by a big black bar at the bottom!
In reality our 10.1 inch screens end up being smaller than that of a 9.7 inch ipad!
Surely all that was really needed was a small semi-transparent home, back, and settings buttons? Maybe even configurable. Can't be that hard, look at button savior or virtual button bar...
I have been experimenting with honey bar and the open source hide bar, but both these options when used in conjunction with the programmes mentioned above end up making the desktop stutter in transition...
Does anyone have a solution that might work, or are there any devs that can put something together?
Maybe leave the buttons in place, but have the bar itself transparent?
Phh... makes me mad, really.
What do you think? Post your thoughts.

I'm not that upset about it. I have noticed it. But it's not there when it would actually matter to me (while watching video, playing games, etc.). As far as being a part of the interface or ui element, it's not really taking that much screen real estate from the apps that use it.
The simplest solution would be to replicate the 2.3 taskbar. A simple, thin taskbar with the time, battery, notifs on it and some smart points where we know to touch to get the desired action. It's likely it was made that size to be uniform with the size of the screen. Deeper into that, an easy way to hide it and make it transparent or translucent. Similar perhaps notif./active app list on phones...a simple pull-down or pull-up gesture could be implemented to pull it into and out of sight. Additionally, a gesture based solution could be implemented for apps that do require the bar to be there for use of backing out, going to home screen or viewing recent or running apps.
Remember that Samsung is running their own layer on top of HC so they can do whatever they want. That is also going to make it slightly more difficult for them to get updates to the tablet on a timely basis in most scenarios unless they are very on top of it. I doubt that with the multitude they'll have coming....7, 8.9 and 10 inch tabs all needing to be updated that they will indeed be very on top of it. And they don't have the best track record for updates post-hotness of their devices.
Acer could get the same customized elements if they did a light layer as well, but we'd no longer have vanilla HC and I don't think we'd like the trade off, which would be waiting a while longer for updates.
I say we wait and see what ICS has for us. It's at least somewhat likely Google has considered this.
Alternatively, maybe there's a HC designed launcher you could use to replace the current one?
Never noticed, I like it just like it is, transparent would be nice though.

Well thought out reply, with some good ideas.
I think the best thing is to wait and see what ICS has to offer.
Cheers
I've always wanted to make the taskbar transparent. It doesn't bother me that its there and I use honeybar when I want to hide it, but having it transparent would make life so much easier.
When you use honeybar you're just adding another step to access the back, home and info buttons. I would also love to hide the upper icons as I never ever use them.
I know that there's an app that will hide the taskbar, because I saw it in one of the latest cooked ROMs in the DEV section. Have a look over there for the name of the app. He's actually included it in the ROM, but you can d/l the app once you know it's name.
you know I really thought I would hate it before I got this tab, but frankly I love it, it
s far more interactive and has great potential, with it being software based, it has moddability that buttons and capacitive spots don't have. and since the screens are already quite big, there's no lost functionality like on a phone.
case in point: download Wizz bar and see how much it add to the multitasking capability of HC. and remember that this is just getting started.

I don't particularly think of that as a solution, per se. It is great info though if folks don't know about it. The thread probably cooled off because many people don't really care about the bar or are using ROMs that have the ability to hide it anyway.
Honeybar may hide it like what Samsung and some Devs have done with their ROMS, that's great on some level but there's still that underlying issue of the bar being 1. there in the first place and 2. pretty, erm, obtrusive in some apps for some people. Furthermore, honeybar requires root and not everyone wants to root their tablet.
I say hurry up ICS!

Total screen area is 45.5 square inches... Status bar is just under 3... In terms of screen area, it is about 6%,
To be technical, subtracting out the status bar leaves 9.9 inches diagonally, which is how screens are measured... Actual diagonal size is really 10.07 inches... You lose 0.17 diagonal inches... 1.688% diagonal screen loss.
Edit: I could make it worse... Screen size is measured by the diagonal. If you take the diagonal of the status bar, it is about 8.6 inches... Which is 85% of 10.1... lol.

Now that Sense with 5.0.1 is out, I'm curious to hear what people think about both versions.
My thoughts on GPE
- Love the look and animations
- Amazing dialer
- Smaller notification icons and nav bar
- Silent mode not for everyone but I like it.
Sense 6 with 5.0.1
- Lockscreen is great
- Quick settings are decent
- Dialer is still pretty bad
- Lock screen full screen album cover, that was a nice surprise
- Audio and Camera quality much better.
- Feels like the L look still needs to be implemented better (probably saved for Sense 7)
- WiFi still often disconnects for me at home and at the office.
Battery life to me seems a bit better on GPE but
I cant choose between them because im unable to pay for s-off but if i could choose gpe was my choice for sure
Faster updates better dialer better ram managment and apps will open faster also better batterry life and more materialsed ui are the things that made me choose this (i think sense 6 with lolipop is very ugly because its only an attemp to fast update.Sense 6 with kitkat is a way better than that)

Sense 7 with L will be far better I agree. Right now it's OK but you can tell it needs more work. Some parts of the UI are still pure Sense, some are a mix, smart lock is pure GPE. I think it's a good effort from HTC and it's promising but as it is today, I don't know, nice enough for me not to go right back to GPE, but

To me the GPe just has too many faults the nav bar icons are horrible the Camera app is bad the Gallery is bad the default music player is bad. the contact list is bad the multi tasking app switcher has no clear all. All the above features in Sense 6 are what make this phone what it is. The GPe should have been left to Samsung / Motorola devices.

Very good points although I don't see the need to clear out the recent list but that's based on my usage of course. The camera app is bad, it was horrible and they improved it to a "bad", still a long ways to go.

An argument can be made for some of your other points (though things like the "default music player" and "contact list" are debatable and / or complete nonissues since it's silly to use the "default" music player anyway), but the nav bar icons? Sense's nav bar icons drive me BANANAS and could be the single biggest reason that sense bothers me so much. They look completely out of place and ridiculous in every context. It's the smallest thing but even after months of using Sense I found them jarring. It's like they had a nine year old draw them with crayon and then just said "eh, good enough." They're twice as big as they should be but nothing has been adjusted to compensate.

For me it's the notification bar that bugs me, I do like that they are animated but by the time you have WiFi, Blue tooth and head set connected, that's almost a full row if icons that without Rood and XPosed you can't get rid of. GPE are much smaller and cleaner.

Wishlist for the Official Sony Lollipop Update
A few days ago, i did post a thread on the general forum for the Z2, about what the others and I wished to be added/changed in the coming Sony lollipop update. The thread did become a bit popular and many users did came with opinions and thoughts about what could be added/changed in the next update. Therefor I felt that i want to do the same in the Sony-Cross-device forum, because i wanted to hear different opinions from several Xperia device users. So please welcome me
English is not my native language, so please ignore any sort of mistakes in grammars or anything related
What follows of text isn´t confirmed and just predicts and thoughts regarding what i want from Sony in the Lollipop update. Please take this as a wishlist and don´t be negative when judging. Please read the whole post before commenting or taking any type of action. Okay folks, then let´s begin the journey!
Fluid and smooth User interface [UI] with theming
As people have seen, the Xperia Z2 is running kitkat with UI-theming from Sony on top. We have seen examples of android phones that haven´t the opportunity to hold the spirit of the fluid UI which leads to slow operations and people smashing phones [Dont take my word for it ] because of OEM´s doing "Heavy-theming". But then the questions is: Why theming? Because theming allows to take customization to a whole new level. And Sony has done a really great job here. But what i want/wish from Sony is to provide an update which presents an enhanced fluid UI.
Design
In the past few months websites, designs, games, applications etc are all affected by the new "wave" which is the so called "Material Design". And Google came with a remarkably revolutionary idea. As the technology develops, the design factor are also in development and growths as time goes. The Material design is basically based on flat UI while focusing mainly on animations. But before the Material design took the spotlights, some OEM´s did have examples of what UI looks alike. LG´s UI and Samsung have done a really great job in this sector. Look at screenshots/attachment:

Picture of the LG UI & Picture of the TouchWiz (Samsung) UI
I actually love these UI´s and I badly want Sony to implement this "Flatness" in their UI and get some "Material Design" inspiration implemented in their UI. So Sony please do this job nicely.
[Kudos to @fluxxis] Agree, my first wish is that they do a proper redesign of the Xperia UI with Material Design influences. The TV SideView app got a new logo a month ago which could be a preview of what's to come with Android L, so I still hope they are on the right way.
In addition I want to see more CLASSY themes from Sony. The core themes on the device are ok, but the additional themes from the app store (IMO) suck. Too much color, confusing backgrounds, non-stock navigation icons, childish themes (Mickey & Co). I would like to see more stylish, simple but classy themes. Just as an example, I like these CM11 theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rayford85.flat (Yeah, that's not Sony style, so they don't have to copy it exactly like that.)
I would like to see the core apps get an overhaul as well. I love the Gallery app, one of the best from Sony, but the Contacts app for example looks a little bit old. Especially Xiaomi and Huawei have done an outstanding job with redesigning their core apps in Emui 3 and Miui 6 and I hope that Sony will take a step in the right direction too.
Services and power
Android users has since a long time known the fact that custom roms which is bloatware free and customized runs in most occasions better than stock roms. And that has simply one explanation: Elements are removed. And we are not just talking apps/bloatware. We are talking about boot elements, unnecessary files, mods etc which speeds up the processing power because unwanted elements are removed. And this is where RAM comes in the picture. Even if the Z2 have 3GB RAM, i always have under 1 GB, and never have any apps in multitasking. Though this is said, the device still holds very nicely and can operate heavy tasks like gaming etc. So what i wish from Sony is to remove some bloatware and stuff to optimize RAM and storage, so we can get more of it.
Software functions
Camera: [Kudos to @fertsch] Camera Algorithms. Sony has built in a 20.7 MP camera with an f2.0 aperture which is awesome but their Software Algorithms aren't really optimized in my opinion.(Some times Color Temperature is too cold in Auto Mode or the pictures look lifeless due to lack of color intensity). Not that I'm unhappy with the Z2 Camera(not at all) but for a High-End Device they could do some improvements to them especially because they advertise the Z2 mostly for its 20.7 Megapixel Cam.
[Kudos to @Envious_Data] I would love manual focus in the camera. You cant just throw a very capable camera on a phone and not have more control This is where i think Xperias Faulter because we can create some Near DSLR results with more manual controll yet taking pictures is usualy hindered by the limits on manual whitebalance and lack of manual focus.
[Kudos to @fluxxis] I hope the camera will improve further. I have a little child and no time to play with the custom settings in real life - I want the Superior Auto Mode to finally deliver what the name promises. Right now too many pictures have wrong color balancing (more than one time even Photoshop couldn't help) and sometimes bad exposure which are my main complains.
Stock notifications and Mail app from Android L please.
The last one is my personal preference: I prefer the quick settings implementation of Google or LG. For example to get to the Bluetooth settings (common task because I own some bluetooth speakers I want to connect to on occasion) on Xperia UI I have to swipe down, swipe left, long press on the Bluetooth button, select settings. On other devices I simply have to swipe down and long press the button.

I love it but I wonder, Sony Devs are lazy or out of idea or some classified strategy?
Most of sony's widgets are old and the new UI look something "unbalance" unlike 4.4.4
I love the UI of stock android. I just want that Sony keep all UI from ASOP, add their icon, widgets and done.

Me either,
hows about smarter functions
e.g double tap to wake has a prevent accidental wake feature (if the proximity sensor is activated)
toucblock automaticly enables if it gets too many random non human touches (like water would do on a screen)
Dual window - you may think dual window isnt very useful but go get your self a LG G3 and play with the dual window. its suprizingly useful and nice to use.
i can enjoy music on youtube while texting or even have a movie up while im doing work on google docs, or i could be managing some of my files while video chatting or something like that.
This function using 3 of 100 People.Rather working on Fullscreen. I used it often on my S3, but now ist a unusable funkction, cause of much fullwipes.

OP says in his wallpaper thread following:
What will be the impact on battery life after using these wallpapers?
It depends on the device and chipset, we cannot control battery drain completely as these wallpapers perform some heavy OpenGL task in the background. Snapdragon 835 is a battery efficient and powerful chipset so, these are perfect for Pixel 2/XL devices. If you are really concerned about the battery drain, please use All devices version as it is independent on the required library and hence less processing in the background. Although, some users experienced no battery drain and some have it. It is very uncertain and difficult to answer.
Working but why there is too much lag?
It really needs some good hardware so, don't expect them to be running smoothly on low end devices (like Snapdragon 400 and 600 series). If lagging in higher end devices (like Snapdragon 800 series) then, may be some GPU drivers issue. Please report with logcats or contact your ROM developer.
This question may dumb, but...
How to uninstall the already existing Pixel Launcher?

First, make sure you have TWRP backup > next install some lightweight launcher set it as default > download link2sd from play store > find pixel launcher in the app & uninstall it > Install pixel 2 launcher > uninstall that temporary launcher installed earlier.

Have you noticed it being heavy on the battery?
I've been switching between lawnchair and pixel 2 launcher (for like 7 days each) and it seems the idle drain on pixel is higher.
What's your experience?
its flashable zip file ah?

Maybe Lawnchair & Pixel consume less battery, I see a slightly additional drain on Nova & Pixel 2.
what exactly? umm, maybe dynamic notifications or notification dots?
Are you comfortable in your own skin? Is your phone comfortable in its skin? Rate this thread to express how you deem the skin on the LG G7 ThinQ. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it adds just the right amount of features, it's visually pleasing, and overall it's additive to the experience. If this is a Nexus phone (you didn't think we hand-wrote all of these prompts, did you?) then use this rating to indicate how the latest version of Android looks to you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I can feel that the skin of the device occasionally causes slight (and I mean slight) frame rate drops, just like the occasional hiccups in Samsung phones.
I started using the phone yesterday, and I am seeing less of those skips today.
Coming from vanilla Oreo on the Nexus 6P, I'm not very fond of the LG skin. It adds a LOT of extra baggage and only adds a few features that I'm likely to use. A lot of those features, I could get from using a launcher instead of having them shoe-horned into Android itself. The camera hardware is nice, but the software isn't the greatest...I'm hoping this will be improved. General yuckiness of the LG skin will likely push me to change it out for plain ole Android eventually...we'll see.
Settings/Developer Options/ tick on "Force GPU Rendering", Disable HW Overlays" makes the 2018's best phone smoother/snappier. If root available try L Speed/fstrim apps/Entropy found on Play Store. Install a custom kernel and play with kernel adiutor app. Install AdBlock too.

Any chance you can pull the APK for the Home Launcher? It has some new features I'd love on my V30
Though I am not at all satisfied with its Battery life, very high RAM consumption and pre installed bloatware, unlike Samsung phones (I owns Note 8 too at present), it has not at all lagged so far. Very snappy performance on LG UI. I have been using Nova launcher from day one on this device (and long before on others) and its absolutely awesome.
First Android in a while I've used (except Pixel 2 XL) where I haven't felt the need to install Nova. Stock launcher absolutely fine for my needs.
I feel like the stock launcher would really benefit form a list view as opposed to the only available "slide left/right" variant.
Also, my biggest gripe, is the fact that I have to force sorting the apps every time a new one is added. Otherwise it always ends up at the last position, no matter the properties. Adding, this enforced sorting only gives you one option (=alphabetically) while not touching any folders. So those items remain in the scrambled layout you've left them.
I'm missing an option to scramble the PIN entry layout and an auto-ok feature after having entered the correct PIN. Yeah, I'm a PIN guy. There's also a lack of Android's "Guest" feature when wanting to create a temporary second user account. You can only create other "real" accounts, with all their rights (although not admin), which isn't what the guest account would achieve.
Biggest plus for me are the "double tap" features the launcher offers and the way they have allowed the always-on-display to be used as a small settings app. Also the added soft buttons on the lower screen (you can reorder them and add extra features) are well done. I also feel like the extra "Smart Bulletin" page isn't bad although other vendors like HTC had more options and/or deeper integration to offer.
The "Gaming" features via LG's Extensions are the best though. That's useful stuff if you don't want to spend your whole battery on a old game being forced to run at 200fps (or something) and max resolution. Also, the quick menu via the "Floating Bar" offers a smart way to have your stuff available in any app without the need to switch back and forth.
Additionally, the currently hard-coded Google Assistant button is more useful than I initially though. I would still welcome a menu to be able to reassign it to the user's liking though.

The LG UI is a half baked UI when compared to other skins like EMUI, MIUI or even samsung UI. There are lots of clutter in the settings app. SMS app is that of Google, No dual app.. Not to mention bugs..LG software needs lots of refinement to be even compared with other popular skins.
Best way IMHO is to go for stock android version in which LG can include v their camera app and ensure release regular security updates..which hardly require huge resources. Customers will be ever grateful to LG..
The LG UX 7.0 running with SD 845 is a pleasure to use. Snappy and smooth all the time that I don't see any stutters or slowdowns. A real beast of 2018.
Settings/Developer Options/ tick on "Force GPU Rendering" & "Disable HW Overlays" makes the beast smoother, snappier. If there's a custom kernel, we can play with the CPU Governors, the performance smoothness can be taken the next level.
LG, if you are quick to release unlock bootloader after the launch of the LM-G710ULM (US Unlocked) atleast the devs can start working on the LG G7. 12th July to present. i.e 2 months why no bootloader unlock?
LG's implementation of the dual sim calling is bery primitive ..every time you want to call from either of the sim you have to remember to toggle the sim switcher..it deosnt have any options to set default calling options or prompt to ask which sim to use..its really frustrating for people who uses dual sims to make calls all tne time...
I installed Nova immediately, as I'm used to it. The other parts, which Nova doesn't fill with it's own functionality, all works fine.
I have found all the functionality that's needed for me without any particular effort.
Everything is smooth. So far very happy with this purchase.
Solid hw and I can't really fault the software for anything, if Android Pie shows up in a timely manner all will be perfect.
I've had this phone for about a month now and still have not got a case for it. Does anyone know of a good case that I can get that doesn't make the phone bulky and at least protects the phone?

I know I'm late to the party but I just got this phone yesterday -- in early 2019, it's a solid value even though it's nearing its first birthday. I've seen a lot of the other features mentioned but I don't know about these two. Anybody know what the above is referring to?
