Hi Guys,
I have two Sims in my G4(non-plus) version. I am trying to activate call forwarding in one of the sim's but I am getting the following errors with both sims

I see you've posted this in the Help thread too...
Does this issue occur if you take one of the SIM cards out and then attempt to call-forward?
Also, do you have call forwarding activated on your accounts for both SIM cards?

Please make sure if call forwarding works or not with the USSD codes(Google) instead of the gui of the rom. Btw: which rom, baseband version and rom version do you have? Maybe volte is causing trouble?

Everything is stock. Non rooted G4. I will share the other details asap. It has the latets OTA by Moto for the G4. How come volte is causing this issue and how to bypass it?

There is no ussd code to activate it as per the customer support. He said that I need to activate it via Sim manager and enter a number on which calls need to be forwarded.

Ok, so if the ussd codes won't work then the problem isn't rom related, cause the ussd codes directly set call forwarding to the home location register of your provider hence its a general problem of your provider.
To verify that, just put the sim in another mobile(doesn't matter which one), type the ussd code *21** again and check if it is set or not.

It worked in another mobile. I put the same sim cards back in G4 and this time it worked. Thanks for your help. When I forward calls from my single sim S3 it forward calls with no notification or something. But when I forward it from any dual sim phone like the G4 the caller gets a message that your call is being forwarded for about 20 seconds and then the call is forwarded. Why is that so?

Any way to disable this call forwarding?

You can disable all call forwardings with: ##002#
Some settings are depending on your operator. Don't know why notifications happen and sometimes not. But USSD codes are working generally on every mobile regardless of their age:laugh:

Username: your 11 digit Gizmo5 number (e.g. 17475555555)
Password: your Gizmo5 password
Server: proxy01.sipphone.com
4) Turn on your phone's Wifi connection. Make sure SIPDroid is running (should be in the Ongoing section of the notifications drop down menu).
5) Login to Google Voice (www.google.com/voice). Add & Verify your Gizmo5 number. If you set up SIPDroid correctly and your wifi is working properly, your G1 should ring. It took a few tries for the phone to actually ring but eventually it did for me.
Yes, you need a Google Voice account. No, no one can invite you except Google. Incoming calls on Gizmo5 are free. Outgoing calls are free only in the U.S. International calls are subject to Google Voice's rates. Ask further questions and discuss below!
Hmm, so it only works with WiFi?
It doesn't work with 3g/edge?

SIPDroid has an option to do it with 3G but I think this goes against T-Mobile's terms of use.
this is bs!!! You can get both free without using that!
Here's how:
Use the app GV. call from there. It will then call you with your GV calling you(free on mygay) then call the person. Look you can use it at any time.

I think that's right... so by using Gizmo5, are we just bypassing the use of incoming minutes?
Say if I wanted to call Iran, I would only be paying the 8.2 cents a minute to Iran and not be charged for any minutes with T-mobile?

1) This is not limited to wifi. Install Sipdroid-full from sipdroid.org for access over cellular network (assuming your carrier isn't blocking port 5060).
2) Not sure I trust Gizmo enough at this point to give it my Google password.
3) Gizmo has created a customized version of Sipdroid specifically for the purpose of making and receiving free calls to US numbers using Google Voice. Details here. Again, I haven't tried it myself as I don't trust Gizmo with my Google pw.
Can I remind everyone that this is a family website and that all language should reflect that

I was under the impression this sort of thing is against T-Mobile's terms and thus, while possible with 3G, not to be done.
And that Guava app is buggy for me. If they straighten it out, would make setup much easier.
So im using this with wifi bc im out of the country.. my outgoing calls work perfect and very clear but they are limited to 3 mins.. Now my incoming calls are my problem.. if someone dials me from google voice to my gizmo5 # it comes through and they hear me perfect but I cant hear them!!!. But if someone dials my google voice number it does not go through to my sipdroid and I dont get the call, not from a land line, not from a cell, and not from google voice they have to dial my sipnumber and only from google voice does it seem to be working.. and when i get the call i hear nothing :/ anyone want to help it would be greatly appreciated
EDIT: just finish posting and i received a call from my mother and it work she heard me i heard her and she dialead my google voice number?? any thoughts

1. go here to register:

click on the residential tab.
2. Get the app here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/274146939/PF_VMPLUS_Windows_Current.cab.html
(this is free but difficult to find, at least it was for me.)
3. Install the cab to the sdcard (not to the internal memory. voicemails will eat up space.)
4. open the Phonefusion app and go to option>settings>Activate FVM+
5. Give it a few seconds and let it do its thing and then it should work.
Well, it's not free anymore. =/

This is not a Visual Voicemail Application as much as a service + Website. The Website that would display the Voicemail messages does not load correctly on my Wizard with TNT (19199.1.0.0).
YouMail although a good solution for some does not meet the needs of those looking for an app.
Yeah I found a coupon code on Retail Me Not to make the Individual plan free (Phone Fusion at Retail Me Not). However, the fact remains, that it's a service much like (read: exactly like) Google Voice and not an app (only).
Try this link http://www.fusionvoicemailplus.com/. I signed up for a free account although i havent fully tested it on the app myself.
Hope this helps.
These look interesting. I'm using mVisualVoicemail (http://www.motionapps.com/product/mvisualvoicemail/) which of course requires your voicemail to be forwarded to an email account first. If you can't do that, this program is useless.
Is there any way in WM6.1 or WM6.5 to make all the Voicemail notifications and links launch a program instead of dialing voicemail? Ever since I started using visual voicemail, I've come to notice how often I get notifications and convenient links to dial my voicemail, and I just wish I could set it to launch mVisualVoicemail instead.
Clearing up confusion
I dont know about you guys but just to clarify:
PhoneFusion is free. PhoneFusion uses an app. PhoneFusion did not assign me a new number. PhoneFusion has, as best I can tell, just replaced my Tmo voicemail.
I signed up online with no money given or agreed to. I downloaded the app given a link that was forwarded by text when I signed up. The app is just like a carrier's vvm except it loads a little slower. It loads your contacts automatically at every start, which is the small slow part.
Ive had youmail before on my old Blackberry (don't stone me) and although there are apps for some phones, it is no better or worse than Phonefusion besides the subcscriber login page online... which I would think we would never want to use day to day anyway.
All in all I can give PF a recommend. Check it out. The cool part (believe me with all the crap i went through to get youmail to work) is that you just push ACTIVATE and it changes all your settings to forward your calls.
****Sprint users.... trust me stay away. Your screwed on VVM. YouMail costed me 30 a month bc sprint charges for every forwarded call.
I think i'll stick with youmail. Hopefully they'll come up with a windows mobile app for this.
Sprint users can use PhoneFusion without charge. You just have to call up and ask for call forwarding on no answer which is free. Regular call forwarding "unconditional call forwarding" costs you $0.20 per call.
When I called up they told me it would cost $0.20, I told them it should not, only unconditional does, and they went back and told me I was correct.
I'm using PhoneFusion as above today and it seems to be pretty decent and the app works well. Whether I will miss the easy click and you're in voicemail with tf3d, I'm not sure yet
I'm a TP2 user...
Do you find that the 'new voicemail' icon appears at the top of the screen (indicating there's a new message waiting) when using Phone Fusion? (I'm not getting that, though it works otherwise). I'm on TMO USA (but I would have thought this was independent of carrier)
-Steve
PS Apologies - posted same question on another thread last week, but got no reply - thought this might be a thread where I could find someone using PF VVM...
Well, I thought I would share my experiences with this app. I was wanting to get some VVM on my Tilt2, so I downloaded this app based upon this thread. Once I realized it was implementing some call forwarding, I kinda put the brakes on finishing the install.
Then I started having people report there was an odd disconnect error instead of going to my voicemail. Seems it partially setup the call forwarding, but since I did not completely install it it wrecked my regualr voicemail.
Anyway, I think I have it sorted out. I had to go intot he setup again, and 'Disable' the VVM. Now, when installing there was a clear warning about deactivating the service prior to any installation, but since I never completely installed I thought I was safe.
Be carefull. - Kevin

Hey Kev...you know you can go into "phone" under personal settings, and change your forwarding settings from there? It just reads your current settings from the network, and lets you change and update them from your phone...you can check there to make sure they all got put back the way they should

How to change VM number to Google Voice?

I have installed and setup the GV app, which works with no problems (calls, text, VM, VM recall in GV app etc). When in the dialer and press #1 or the VM tab it calls the T-mo voicemail number, it does not redirect to GV.
From the home screen I checked - settings > call settings > voicemail >
Voicemail service is set to GV... when I select option below "Voicemail (settings for google voice)" a dialog box comes up titled "Voicemail number", it looks like I should be able to edit it but I can't. It shows the t-mo voicemail number not my personal t-mo number.
Is there a way to change a setting so the dialer goes to GV when #1 and VM tab are used?
Great question.i was also wondering if others had a long delay for the notification of a voice mail?

my GV notifications come through about the same as on mg G1... slower than t-mo text and VMs but still an acceptable length.
I have my GV set up as my default voicemail, but can not get it for work.
As mentioned by SykesAT, I'm given a box that includes a voicemail number. Are you supposed to edit that to have GV work properly?
I'm new to GV, and this is a bit confusing to me.
Any of you that got it to work, mind helping a self-proclaimed GV-n00b?

On my G1 when I click "voicemail" it opens up the GV app, which lists two things My voicemail number (IE my GV number) and my the option to sign out of GV. So yes I think we need to get the number that shows up that box to show our GV number, rather than the t-mo vm number.
One other thing. Have you get up your t-mo act to forward unanswered calls to GV? if not log into GV from you PC under setting follow the instructions by your mobile number to "Activate Google voicemail on this phone"

This.
If you do that, it'll tell you to enter a GSM code into dialer-- works great.
What about visual voicemail? With the T-Mo app, I assume it only loads messages from their servers?
Will the GV app display messages in a similar fashion, allowing you to scrub through the audio?

you get visual voice mail and more with the GV app. it give transcripts too.
type this into your dialer:
*004*1xxxxxxxxxx#
and then hit call.
where, xxxxxxxxxx is you 10digit mobile number. this should forward your VMs to GoogleVoice, and as long as u have the app installed and signed into, the notifications should work.
i still haven't figured how to change the "voice mail" tab in the dialer that comes with the samsung, that seems to the fixed only to tmobile's vm number.

edit: I don't think this is op's question. I don't think you can change that number that is gray for the stock t-mo voicemail...
bchalk,
thanks for that, mine says the same also. Still have the issue of of the #1 and VM tab in the dialer.
Its not that imporant of an issue, I use the GV app most of the time anyway but... it is a puzzle.
The voice mail tab is just the saved contact. You should be able to edit that number in contacts. Next time you go to that tab, should call gv right? I just read the emails, but they are taking forever to come in.i didn't have to forward like I did in my g1.

No, that didn't work. There was indeed a "Voice Mail" contact on the SIM card that had the default 805-xxx-xxxx phone number for the T-Mobile voicemail. I edited it to show my Google Voice number and then tried using the Voicemail Tab and speed dial "1" in the dialer, but they both still go to the T-Mobile voice mail. I think we do indeed need to change the number located at Settings -> Call Settings -> Voicemail -> Voicemail, but it's greyed out.
My wife regularly goes to an area that gets voice reception, but no data. In that case, calling her voicemail is the only option. I've told her to call the "Voicemail" contact and she'll be fine, but she's used to just holding "1" in the dialer to get her voicemail when she doesn't have data service. Wish we could change that number.

Is there any solution to change the VM tab or the holding "1" to reflect a different number? (YouMail, GV etc)
No fix that I have seen so far.
Dial your GV number and it will connect you to your GV Voicemail. Until we're able to edit that grayed out selection, we'll be stuck with workarounds.
GV on Samsung Vibrant
I can't activate GV mail on my Vibrant. I am dailing the activation number and it's not dailing the last # and it gives a invalid number.
I have gone in the voice mail settings and select GV as my provider and I get a pop with a greyed out number. I can't seem to get GV mail working
Visual Voicemail
First post @ xda...bear with me...
For what it's worth, I just got off the phone w/T-Mobile (2 times) and was met with the same answer. I just got this phone a few days ago and was wondering why I wasn't getting any voicemails. I hadn't activated Visual Voicemail (but had downloaded Google Voice). I thought something was fishy w/the grayed-out box when setting this up but thought I missed something.
Apparently, as part of my data plan, this Visual Voicemail is included: no ifs, ands or buts about it. And...so...come to find out I had voicemails there.
I explained my frustration in not being able to use Google Voice (this was prior to finding this thread) in its full functionality (but had been able to w/the MyTouch). I'm told I've been the first to call about this.
The reps told me this is a new data package and there is no way to remove Visual Voicemail. They then went on to tell me that Google Voice is a 3rd party app (duh) they don't support and that Visual Voicemail is a really great free service they provide.
Be that as it may, I have been using Google Voice for a while and was dismayed to hear this until I read the fix here in terms of auto-forwarding. That you to the poster....works for me. Still not uber-jazzed that there's this voicemail mandate of sorts by T-Mobile, but..for now, this is good. Thanks for the fix!
It seems as if the TMO VM number is hard coded somewhere. Hopefully it's coded in the software, which means it could potentially be edited on a rooted phone. If it's hard coded in the kernel, or even the hardware, it would take much more work. We'll find out as soon as it annoys some talented developer who tries to fix it.
^ the VVM can be removed if you have root.

Just got invited to the Sprint-GV Integration..but!!

They wanna charge 20 bucks for doing so!!

That's what Google charges for porting a number into GV. Been standard since they launched number porting..
I'm hoping using your GV number as your Sprint number is free, as that's what I'm planning on doing.
Got mine too and am using my sprint number as GV. Less hassle, more folks know it, etc.
I did NOT choose option 2.
No fee for me.

I did try to do that also and guess what?? The same 20 Bucks!! =(
That's very odd. I just started using my Sprint number as my GV number this morning. I wasn't charged anything either.
For those of you that are getting the $20 charge - wait about an hour and try again. That screen should go away. I have read that Google got ahead of themselves and your account had not been updated yet.
Android Central "Google Voice & Sprint"
Everything should be fine now. Just ported my number.. no charge!

Ok this was odd.. I logged on to google voice today and as soon after I logged on I had this pop up asking me if I wanted to port the phone number so I did and then no 20 bucks fee now..
Ported my existing Voice number to Sprint. Loving not needing the Voice app but am having issues receiving MMS sent to my GV number. I know Voice doesn't support MMS but I thought with the integration it would still come into my phone throught the stock text app. Anyone else who uses their GV number had any success or failure with this? Sent to my regular Sprint number they work fine.

I also had trouble with txt and mms sent to my phone I installed GV and I was getting the SMS on GV app and the MMS on Handcent.
Which honestly was annoying to me.. so needless to say I switched back and left GV
I got the invite on Thursday, and immediately switched my Sprint # to my GV #. I have two issues that bother me, but aren't deal breakers.
1. The mms/sms issue spoken of above. On top of that, when I first enabled my number, sms would not go to my native sms app, but only to GV. Mms would go to the messaging app. There is a setting to change this, a guy over at AF helped me to figure it out, so now the sms goes to both the sms and GV app, and along with that comes double notifications, which I can't turn off because it will disable voicemail notifications as well.
2. When I answer a call, I must press the answer call button on screen, then open the keypad and press 1 to allow the call. Kind of a pita, but Now I can't go back to the way it was with both numbers and GV as my VM app.
Idk if I'm missing a setting somewhere, or what, but those are my issues with it.
Sorry for the long post....

I don't know how to force it, but I signed up to be notified of the changeover to sprint about two weeks ago....

This may be (yet another, and I apologize) stupid question, but how do you get the vm without the app installed? It never seems to transcribe them in a way that I can understand the messages...
Is there any real benefit to using this integration? I've been using google voice for voicemail for like a yr now anyway...... if you port your GV # over, do you lose ur sprint #? Visa versa?

With the email it sends you a link to the Voice site where you can listen to it if you want. Downside is that it only plays on the external speaker.

Google Voice voicemail on T-Mobile USA

I apologize if this has already been posted, I spent about 10 minutes searching and couldn't find anything related to this.
Is anyone else having a hard time setting Google Voice as the default voicemail service? Even when I run through the GVoice setup and set it as default calls end up routed to T-Mobiles voicemail system anyway. Is this an issue with T-Mobile?
are you on a prepaid plan? I'd you are it won't work.
Call T-Mobile and have them turn off your voicemail.
Then it should just ring through to GVoice voicemail.

No issues for me. Did you use the GSM code provided in Google Voice's settings tab?
I had issues as well with my Gnex.
Ask tmo to reset your voicemail.
Then disable via google voice in a browser and enter code provided.
Then delete gv from the phone.
Reinstate via browser, enter the code provided on your cell, then re download gv sign in and it should work.
Now all those steps may not be necessary but I had some issues yesterday and these steps resolved those issues. Good luck. :good:

T-Mobile visual voicemail app works great. I haven't had an issue with GVoice picking up voicemail directed to my GVoice number on my phone either.

Yes... But the OP specifically asked about google voice voicemail.
Why not just go exclusively Google voice? I did and never looked back!

How does this work exactly? Since Google Voice states that their mobile app utilizes your cellphone minute. I'm wondering how do you combine a data plan with a VOIP and Google Voice into having a phone that just resides on a data plan.

For my postpaid account, I've also setup call forwarding to GVoice. Not sure if this is required for GVoice to work correctly but if I don't have cell service, it rings my other phones and then puts it into GVoice voicemail.

This won't work with prepaid accounts though.
I made a petition about getting this to work. Maybe if enough people sign it, T-Mobile will listen.
