and am having problems with the earpiece speaker and or headphone jack.
Alot of the time I have no sound in call from earpiece speaker and need to use handsfree speaker to hear voice.
If I push a headphone plug in and out quickly alot the sound will come back to earpiece speaker.
I thought it might be the headphone jack but it seems to happen after using bluetooth tto listen to music as well as after using headphones.
Sometimes the sound will be very low from earpiece then become normal all of a sudden.
Running latest stock and bootloader unlocked and rooted.
Is there a wired headphone icon on status bar? My ze552kl asumed it was plugged in even though it's been pulled out. Try using a good cottonbud, apply few drops of alcohol to clean up the contact, it'll work almost instantly. Good luck.

i have a broken headphone jack and i think this might be the cause of this sound issue but.. sometimes i will lose sound completely on my xda ii at random, and i'll have to softreset it a bunch of times to get any sound out of it. by no sound i mean no sound in phone calls, no sound in music, no sound whatsoever coming from the speaker itself. i'm thinking this might be the cause of my phone thinking that i have headphones plugged in (but i don't because the jack is broken), when i plug in headphones i can't get any sound out of them. i want to fix the jack by taking the phone apart but once i would get it apart i don't know what to do from there.
Hi everyone...
I just pulled out my headphone plug and now I can't hear any sounds over the Prophet's speakers - No ringtones, no system sounds, nothing. Not even the other person when I call someone...
Still works over headphones though...
So what's wrong? Is my headphone jack screwed?
Thanks in advance...
That is a commun problem with this equipment.
The spring on the plub doesnt work right with the time.
One solution is to to plub and unplug several times and then test it if it the the problem has been solved.
Prepare to buy a new headphones plug.
Thanks for the reply... so you're basically saying, there's a mechanical problem with the headphone jack? That's strange, because when I call the phone from a different one the ringer works fine. But when I call someone else from the Prophet, I can't hear a thing...
I think that the problem lies with a little metal pin/pad inside the jack hole on the prophet.
When you put the jack in, it depresses this little pin, and deactivates the speaker, earspeaker and microphone, and transfers that over to the headset. After a bit of usage, it appears that it can get stuck when you remove the jack, disabling the phone's speakers etc.
I find that shaking it/hitting it/ramming the jack in and out, whilst building up frustration, can remove stress. It also can have some effect on the problem.
I'm just waiting it out until my contract ends, and i get a new phone.
EDIT: Ah, and the prophet naturally rings out loud aswell when you have the headset in, so that's why you can hear it.
I had the exact same problem, I sloved it by rotating a pin inside the headphone jack and it is sloved the speaker worked. I inserted the headphone and it work thus i took it off and prophet worked as normal.
wish good luck 4 u

I had a similar problem earlier.Try putting ur headphone jack in and out a few times, this generally sorts out the problem. It has to do with a small pin in the headphone socket which diverts the sound to the headset when it is plugged in and the pin has to come back in position when the headset is disconnected. What happens is that the pin gets stuck,so even when u disconnect the headset,it still diverts the sound to headset mode.PM me for more details.
This does not happen every time and a reboot seems to fix it for a little while however....
When I plug my headset in (no mic on headset) no one can hear me regardless of the phones mute setting. If I unplug the headset everyone can hear me again. Ending a call and starting a new call doesn't resolve this issue either. I have to do a full reboot or not use a headset. It is very annoying. Anyone heard of this issue before?
Seems like the phone is registering the headset as having a microphone when it doesn't. How many bands are on the plug? Stereo headphones generally only have 2 plastic rings on the plug, while headphones with a microphone will have 3. If the headphones plug has 3 bands or isn't sitting in the jack correctly it might be registering as having a mic when it doesn't.
There are only two bands on the headphones
The headphone jack doesn't function like it used to. The sound that comes out is distorted and the vocals are unheard. I don't know what's wrong. The only way I can hear vocals is if I go in accessibility, hearing, and go and change the sound to the left.
Sounds like either your headphone jack is broken, or possibly your headphones themselves? Try using some compressed air to blow out the headphone jack possibly. I upgraded to Nougat months ago and haven't had an issue.
Have you tried different pairs of headphones to make sure it's not the headphones? If it's not the headphones, cleaning out the headphone jack doesn't work, then factory reset and see if that fixes it.
