I had a similar problem earlier.Try putting ur headphone jack in and out a few times, this generally sorts out the problem. It has to do with a small pin in the headphone socket which diverts the sound to the headset when it is plugged in and the pin has to come back in position when the headset is disconnected. What happens is that the pin gets stuck,so even when u disconnect the headset,it still diverts the sound to headset mode.PM me for more details.

Is there any help here?
I have an Qtek2020 with an audio problem. There is no incoming audio in the speaker and no ringing tone.
Audio with the headset and with the bluetooth headset is okay.
I've changed the speaker but it still don't work.
The latest software is also on the phone.
It sounds to me like the headset socket is jammed, try inserting and pulling out the headphone jack a few times, or a squirt of switch gear, wd40 or similar spray for electronic switches/contacts etc.
Sorry,
I did not told you that I've changed the headsetconnector too.

Hi,
I've noticed an audio output distortion of some frequencies when listening to music, in the sound coming out of the 2.5mm jack.
When the speakers on the device is used, there is no problem.
When I plug the headphone, there is sound output, I hear the music, but some frequencies are lowered so much that I can't hear the singers voice. When I unplug, the speakers work fine and I can hear the singer again.
In additon that, most of the background instruments can be heard as well as the backvocals, if they are female.
It's like the sound is being processed (like an equalizer) when I plug the headphone, some frequencies are lowered, given some echo, reverb etc.
I don't understand how this is possible. I am thinking of a hardware contact problem, but it's hard to believe if this is a hw problem.
I've tried two firmwares (2.16.x, 2.25.11.1) and made hard reset also. No result.
Any ideas?
Note: I can try to actually record the sound tonight if anyone wants to hear.
Best regards,
Fast
maybe try a different headset first?....could be a short in the cable, because what you are describing is a phasing issue with the headset speakers......
Thanks for the response Kiru,
Just tried a different headset plugging it into my HAMA 2.5 --> 3.5 adapter. same result.
I will try the original headphone came with the Wizard. If the source of the problem is the HAMA adaptor, this should resolve it. (i hope it is)
Could you please elaborate on the "phasing issue" ?

Hmm....how can I explain.....Let's start with the speaker itself. A speaker has two terminals on it, one postive and one negative. What we want is to have the positve from the source (ie. Amplifier) to the positive terminal of the speaker, and the same for the negative. Since there is a pair of speakers, we want them to be hooked-up correctly. If hook-up correctly then the speakers are in phase with each other, and this is called constructive interference, hence in phase. When ONLY ONE of the speakers is hooked-up backwards, we call this destructive interference, hence being out of phase. Being out of phase causes frequencies to cancel or sound muffled. Hope you kind of get what I mean, but I highly doubt that this is the problem with headphones because heaphones nowadays rarely get manufactured with this problem. This is just the electrical part of phasing. Also, you can have one speaker, and it could sound out of phase because of the distance it is firing from walls or the shape of the room due to the reflections of sound, this is called acustical phasing.
A short in the cable, meaning the positve and negative wire are somewhat touching, can cause a similar effect, and I suspect that this is problem for you. As you now state that you are using an 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor, I would agree with you that most likey you have a faulty adaptor.
Hope this helps! and keep me posted!
Hi again,
Thanks again for the explanation Kiru, I know a bit of electronics so I got the problem.
However, I'm now home and tried to original headset, no result. The same problem is existing.
This makes me believe that I've broken something inside the Wizard which shortcircuits something. I'm very dissapointed.
Maybe the only way is now to buy a stereo bluetooth headset...
Thanks for your help
Any reason that you can't return to orange for repair/replacement?
PROBLEM SOLVED
I got this unit from priceminister second hand. It's origin is not France, I don't have a purchase receipt neither.
By the way, I solved the problem. I disassambled the unit using the info given in one of the posts in the forum. I played a little with the contacts, there was oxidation in the outer solders, i cleared them up etc, it 's working at the moment.
I'll post some pictures afterwards.
and I hope i will be able to reassamble it, I already have a piece of thing which I don't know where to put
I got the same problem. Was working fine for 2 months then all of a sudden the headphone plug is all messed up. Volume is all distorted I can sometimes hear a song but quality is no where near the original. Usually everything sounds echoed. I think something is wrong with the plug
I've had the same problem. The headphone jack on the Wizard is crap. If you have your Wizard in your pocket with an adapter, as you move, the adapter pries back and forth on the jack. This breaks the cheap jack.
If you want to listen to your Wizard as an music player, you should invest in a nice set of bluetooth headphones and only plug the jack in when the wizard won't be moved around a lot, like a home or car stereo.
I recommend Nextlink Spider headphones. They double as a headset and you can navigate through your library with the button on them.
MUSIC Speed
I got the same problem here. The SE stereo btooth headset isnt yet in our place.
Anyway, i experienced this one with ROM2.16 Imate. The sound speed or music speed seems to being played faster than normal. But when i tried to plug the 2.3-3.5 adopter and quickly pull it out, the sound is played in normal speed then. strange.....
are you all sure that the wizard has a stereo output ? I thought it was mono.
Anyway you can get earpieces and headphones with a 2.5mm jack so you don't need a 2.5-3.5mm adapter.
Maybe the contacts on your jack are not connecting properly with the internal contacts of your adaptor
Hi ppl! Let's see if I can express my problem!
My wizard is having this problem:
The inside speaker doesn't work during a call, only loud speaker(hands free) works, or by handset or bluetooh speaker! Does any one have this kind of problem?
I've send this one to warranty but, i've got a stupid respond from HTC:
"....Dear Sr. You have used an illegal software that damage you HTC motherboad...". Uaaauuu I've never used any 3rd software on this one. after received this answer Yesterday I made the first update to this phone (install the XDA Mobile 6 Release 3) but the problem still there.
Does any one have some ideas?
Now a stupid question ? how many speakers does wizard have ? 2 ?
Thanks for your time.
Rui
A while ago i had a similar problem where the phone thought my wired headset was plugged in and would not send the sound to the speakers... Only the headset, so i put some music on and plugged the headset in and out pretty fast until the sound came out the speakers in the phone. I think it had something to do with the switch inside the jack port that controls where the sound goes. Anyway that fixed mine but im not sure whats happening with yours.
The wizard has 3 speakers
2 Stereo speakers, one on each side
1 Speaker for calling in between the flashing lights

Thats very true, if headset is used often or used much of the time, then the clips inside the jack port get over stretched and won't come back to it's original place after the input jack of headsets is plugged out, thus, not allowing to pass through the voice to the speakers.
Hi again! thanks for your replay!
Yes it was true about the mini jack! A good cleaning have solve 50% of the case!
The sound now cames out from the 2 stereo speakers ! But not from the speaker for calling!
I'm start to suspects from the speaker! Is it hard to dismount the wizard ???
Regards ,
Rui

THANK YOU!!!
Thanks guys. Had the same problem and the cleaning seems to have helped for now.
Hi everyone...
I just pulled out my headphone plug and now I can't hear any sounds over the Prophet's speakers - No ringtones, no system sounds, nothing. Not even the other person when I call someone...
Still works over headphones though...
So what's wrong? Is my headphone jack screwed?
Thanks in advance...
That is a commun problem with this equipment.
The spring on the plub doesnt work right with the time.
One solution is to to plub and unplug several times and then test it if it the the problem has been solved.
Prepare to buy a new headphones plug.
Thanks for the reply... so you're basically saying, there's a mechanical problem with the headphone jack? That's strange, because when I call the phone from a different one the ringer works fine. But when I call someone else from the Prophet, I can't hear a thing...
I think that the problem lies with a little metal pin/pad inside the jack hole on the prophet.
When you put the jack in, it depresses this little pin, and deactivates the speaker, earspeaker and microphone, and transfers that over to the headset. After a bit of usage, it appears that it can get stuck when you remove the jack, disabling the phone's speakers etc.
I find that shaking it/hitting it/ramming the jack in and out, whilst building up frustration, can remove stress. It also can have some effect on the problem.
I'm just waiting it out until my contract ends, and i get a new phone.
EDIT: Ah, and the prophet naturally rings out loud aswell when you have the headset in, so that's why you can hear it.
I had the exact same problem, I sloved it by rotating a pin inside the headphone jack and it is sloved the speaker worked. I inserted the headphone and it work thus i took it off and prophet worked as normal.
wish good luck 4 u

Thanks in advance.
any help
good morning
im not sure if it is really helpfull but on the htc universal there was a problem that sometimes when you unplug the headphones the connection in the headphonejack of the device still does not switch back, so the universal thinks the headphone is still connected and sends all audio output to the (not longer connected) headphone. some user have to disassemble their device (or send in for repair) other (like me) could fix the problem with pluging/unpluging the headphones one more time so the contact works as it should. this bug is one of the reasons why i changed to bluetooth headphones.
hope this helped a bit mad
This problem has been arround for years, not just on the Universal but on most (all?) HTC phones.
latest post I could find on the subject http://www.modaco.com/content/Smartphone-General-Discussion/264524/Locked-in-headphonesmode/
